I absolutely loved this book! You are immediately drawn into Carla and Eamon's story and the hijinks that ensue as they travel around Ireland together. Trish Doller's writing is sweet and funny and she is a master at creating multidimensional characters who navigate heavy situations in such a realistic and relatable way.
Trish Doller has quickly become one of my favorite authors. If you haven't read Float Plan or The Suite Spot, (check the content warnings and) add them to your TBR immediately!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC of this book.
This was such a wonderful romance! I haven't read the others in the series, but this worked very well as a standalone (although I want to read the others now!). It's a fast, engaging story, dealing with the highs of a new romance, along with some tougher issues. You may need some tissues, but it's totally worth it. It also made me want to jump right in my car and start having some adventures! Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the advance digital copy.
Thank you @SMPRomance, @MacMillan.Audio and @Netgalley for the #gifted ALC of OFF THE MAP!
Trish Doller is back with another sweet and heartwarming romance. Carla Black lives to travel. Her father taught her at a young age that if it doesn’t fit into your backpack, you don’t need it. She’s taken that life motto to heart and at 33 has seen the world but is a bit of a lone wolf.
When Carla arrives in Ireland for her BFF Anna’s wedding, she’s supposed to meet Eamon (Keane’s brother) and travel with him to the wedding. But their instant chemistry and a few detours turns a simple drive into the adventure of a lifetime.
Trish Doller has the unique ability to write a delightful love story without it veering into cheesy territory. Carla and Eamon both come with familial baggage but it’s handled in a very adult way which I really appreciated.
I listened to the audio of this one and I was charmed by the narrator. She did an excellent Irish accent for the Irish characters. And made me long to travel to Ireland and see that green countryside for myself.
You also get an added bonus of some extra Anna and Keane content which I loved.
OFF THE MAP comes out on March 7, 2023!

I loved everything about this book!
It captured my heart from the very beginning. I was pulled in and smiling from the initial ‘meet cute’ in the bar between Carla and Eamon. Their interactions were sweet, fun, and filled with great chemistry. I loved their adventures! I loved glimpses of Anna and Keane, and the big heartwarming family time at the wedding. And I even loved the reason Carla said goodbye. I also have a wonderful father who’s battling dementia, so Carla’s joy and sorrow related to her dad had me completely caught up in all of the highs and lows. I laughed, I cried, I swooned and longed for more. There is depth, but enough lightheartedness to keep the whole book completely enjoyable. Although sad, the story made me so happy. Excellent writing that made me feel like I was right there on the adventures. I think it’s my favorite book of the year!
(I hope to get to listen to the audio for this one. I’d love to hear Eamon’s Irish accent!)
Off The Map by Trish Doller follows Carla, a nomad who has no real roots except for her father. In the first half of the book, Carla arrives in Ireland for her best friend’s wedding and meets Eamon, the best man in said wedding. The chemistry between Carla and Eamon is instant. They embark on a cross country adventure across Ireland, with lots of detours and steamy scenes along the way. I loved the beautiful Irish setting and the crazy adventures.
Without giving too much away, the second half of the book takes a turn. Carla and Eamon must both return to reality and each faces their own identify crisis of what it is they want out of life. Carla must also come to terms with her father’s dementia diagnosis, and what that means for their family.
After reading Float Plan, Trish Doller became an auto-read author for me. I love that her books contain relatable characters, romance, and also more substance than you would expect from the cute cover— I can’t help but cry reading all of her books! I also love that her last three books all contain interwoven characters— I loved seeing Anna from Float Plan getting her happily ever after!
A sincere thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Griffin for providing me with an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you @SMPRomance for the complimentary eARC
This is the third book in the Beck Sisters series. I loved Float Plan, and The Suite Spot, both were five star reads for me last year. While I really did enjoy Off the Map it wasn’t quite on par. I think part of the problem might be that it was just so different to the first two and it took me a minute to get used to it. This one is way spicier, right from the start, which, had it been a stand-alone might not have felt so jarring. I was concerned at the beginning that this would be an instalove story, it borders on it, but give it time… it works and is just as sweet as I was hoping it would be. I would have liked the second half of Off the Map to be just a little bit longer. This was my favorite part of the book and I just wanted to spend a little more time there. While each book technically could be read as a standalone, I still recommend reading them in order.
I sincerely enjoyed Float Plan. I own The Suite Spot (but haven't read it yet...oops). I loved Off the Map - the newest in the Beck Sisters series. It was the perfect combination of instalove, found family, wanderlust for me right now. If PS I Love You wasn't so damn sad, and if Leap Year wasn't so ridiculous....you'd find Off the Map right in the middle.
Carla Black is on her way to her best friend's wedding in Ireland - remember Anna from Float Plan? She is supposed to meet the best man, Eamon, in Dublin so she can hitch a ride on his way. Before the two can strike up a conversation, they share a scorching kiss that sets the pace for the rest of the book. Carla's free spirit loosens the reins that Eamon has put on his own, and the pair of them decide to take a few detours along the way. What they find at the end of their journey changes them forever.
That's a really cheesy way of putting it, but it fits. And this is my review. So...there.
I was lucky enough to be given both an advanced ebook from St. Martin's Press, as well as an ALC from MacMillan Audio. I preferred the audiobook because the narrator absolutely nailed the Irish accent. I highly recommend it.
This is perfect for people who love open door, contemporary romance, and having Ireland as a setting.
TW include: parental abandonment, dementia, and death of a parent.
2.5 stars
I loved Float Plan, but had issues with The Suite Spot, so I should have stopped there with the series. I am not a fan of insta-lust and this story was just that. No slow burn here for two strangers. I just didn't buy into how quickly their relationship progressed. Too fast paced to be realistic. Within hours of meeting Carla and Eamon have sex. She's in Ireland for her best friend's (Anna from Float Plan) wedding and Anna asked Eamon to meet Carla for her when she landed.
Another thing in the story that bugged me was that he has the rings for the wedding and yet he and Carla decide to take a detour on their way there? And another? Um, no. Way to stress out the bride and groom and be irresponsible.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was fun! A road trip across Ireland between two essential strangers. She helps him realize he can change his life and explore the world and he helps her learn that its ok to go home. They run into some silly incidents (see cover for reference lol) on their way to a wedding. Each character has a great backstory and depth and I loved how they came together.
Tropes: Wedding; Travel; Sworn off relationships; road trips; Friends with benefits; Forced Proximity; camping; Afraid to commit
Carla Black has lived a nomadic lifestyle practically her whole life. She come home to Fort Lauderdale only to make enough money to fund her next adventure. Recently her father, who raised her alone was diagnosed with Dementia and hasn't wanted her to see him succumb to the disease. She arrives in Ireland to fulfill her Maid of Honour duties for her best friend Anna's wedding. Eamon, the best man is the one assigned to pick her up in Dublin and take her to the countryside. Along the way they decide to go adventure's Eamon has been planning for years but putting off. Carla begins finally letting someone in, unable to run from her emotions.
This book had the right amount adventure, romance, and real life to keep me very engaged. I just wish the story was longer and the characters had more opportunity to convince me of their chemistry.
This was unexpectedly a quick-burn romance between the female MC who never settles down and the male MC who never leaves his comfort zone. I loved the descriptive setting (Ireland) and the humorous situations they found themselves in along the way.
Off the Map by Trish Doller
Rating: 4.5 stars
Steam: 3 chilis
Series: Beck Sisters #3

This book surprised me in the best possible way! I was not expecting to love it as much as I did, and now I want to read everything that Trish Doller has written.
This book follows Carla as she travels to Ireland for her best friend, Anna’s wedding. When she arrives, Eamon, the hunky best man, is there to pick her up, and there is an immediate attraction. Eamon is the planner of the family, always dreaming of traveling but never actually going anywhere. When he finds out that Carla lives her life on the road, he jumps at the chance to take a few detours with her on the way to the wedding. They couldn’t be more opposite, but something about them clicks. Can they somehow turn this short fling into something more meaningful?
I just adored everything about this. Yes, it’s insta-love (or lust), which isn’t always my favorite, but something about it just works here. The first chunk of the book is devoted to the chemistry and heat between Carla and Eamon and their blossoming relationship. They connect on many levels and get to know each other as they camp across Ireland together. Their relationship is so heartwarming, and I immediately fell in love with their story.
There is a lot of focus on Carla’s relationship with her father throughout the story, but the second half of the book is where we really see them connect. This part was incredibly special and really stole the show for me. Her father’s words of wisdom and love and attention helped to mold Carla into who she is, and his Dementia and deteriorating health weighed on her while she traveled. I was surprised by the amount of emotional depth in the story, and I felt like Doller handled the topic of dementia with care.
My advice is to read Float Plan and The Suite Spot before diving into this one. I haven’t read them and I think I did myself a disservice by not reading them in order. I think I would have appreciated the other characters and familial moments more if I knew their backstory.
With its well-developed characters, its sense of adventure, and all of the emotional healing, this story will stick with me for a long time. And did I mention that it’s very steamy? I was also not expecting that from the cute, cartoony cover, but I am not complaining!
I have some wanderlust, thanks to all of the incredible descriptions of Carla’s travels and I feel like I should be planning a trip soon! If this story has taught me anything it’s that time is precious, and you shouldn’t wait. Thank you so much to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for my early copy! Off the Map will be out on 3/7, so get your preorder in now!
This was the first Trish Doller book I have read, and I feel like I might have missed something by skipping the Beck Sisters' books #1 and #2, but I still really enjoyed getting lost in this story!
I was surprised by how fast this story escalated. The opposite of a slow burn, this one jumps right into the action and the romance. It was a little too fast-paced for me; I personally prefer more of a buildup. The story overall felt rushed, but I really enjoyed getting to know the MC and hearing about her backstory was very telling and symbolic.
I enjoyed that the MC was a SFL who blows away expectations with her mechanical knowledge, and I really loved the dementia representation of this book. Our main character ultimately loses her father to dementia, which alone is near-and-dear to my heart (as my grandmother had dementia), and she fears running out of time. The rushed pace of the story can be compared to the way our MC rushes through life, and I thought that was an interesting theme throughout the book.It was sad, but in a hopeful whats-next/healing kind-of-way.
Thoroughly enjoyed the book, and finished it in under a day!!
Okay, so this book for me is a 3.5 close to a 4 but not a full 4.
This is a very cute story about self discovery for both characters. To be honest I didn't like Carla that much, but I got her story and her struggle.
Now for Eamon, I kind of wanted more maybe a dual POV so we could see his thoughts too.
Story is very fast pace, what I didn't like is that it was a little inconsiderate of them to do their own adventure knowing there was a wedding to happen and they had to arrive a certain day.
Thank you so much NetGally for the arc of this book.
Steamy, witty, adventurous contemporary romance that checks all the boxes for a great time. There is some wonderful chemistry and banter between the main characters. The travel and setting in Ireland was so much fun. The story has substance and takes on some deeper themes without being melodramatic.
3.5 Stars! This is my first book by this author. I thought it would be an easy “beach read”, and while it was a wonderfully fast read, but it had so much more depth than I was expecting! I really fell in love with the characters and the relationships. My only critique is that I would prefer less detailed sex scenes. This is my first book by this author and I will definitely read her other books!
Thank you to St. Martin's Press, St. Martin's Griffin, and Net Galley for my advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
There is just something about these characters that live their mottos. Do you know how many of us would just like to pack up our lives and travel to see the world. I can probably guarantee quite a few. The setting, characters and writing in this book will keep me looking for more from this author.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by NetGalley
DNF. I really liked the premise but the writing did not work for me at all. It wouldn't be fair to the book if I finished reading and gave it a low rating.
The third instalment in the Beck sisters series sees incessant traveller, Carla, arrive in Ireland for her best friend Anna’s wedding (Anna from Float Plan) where she ends up having a “holiday fling” with the best man, Eamon (Keane from Float Plans brother).
I adored so much about this book! For a start Ireland is one of my favourite places in the world so a book set there always gets my vote! I loved Carla’s adventurous, wanderlust spirit and Eamon, oooft he may just steal my top spot as favourite book boyfriend!
I’m often (unintentionally) picky when it comes to contemporary romance, but Trish Doller has never let me down, all of her books have been resounding five star reads for me! One thing I love is that in amongst the fun stuff of the romance and sex and lots of witty banter, there’s always a serious theme too, which I feel she always handles exquisitely. In Off the Map that is Carla’s Dad’s dementia. Carla has been travelling as a way to run away from the reality of losing her Dad but finds herself asking can you keep running forever or at some point do you need to go back home? I definitely shed some tears over this part of the book.
A fantastic, fun, emotional read!
Another fantastic book by Trish Doller! She will take you on an adventure every time. If you’re in the mood to travel and enjoy romance and HEAs then you need to read this book. It can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend reading the first two books in the series. I did enjoy this one, but not as much as the first two books. This one just didn’t make me feel all the feels until the end. And then I cried and then I ended the book with a big smile. Everything before that was enjoyable but I would t say I loved it. I think it was the characters that I just couldn’t get into. Will still recommend this book to everyone though!
