I absolutely adore a rom-com that is more about characters falling in love rather than the lead up to them getting together. The main characters were all incredibly developed (not an easy feat in a novella) and I couldn't help by root for them. I didn't pay attention well enough to know this was actually Book #3 but it's strong enough to stand alone. while clearly having offshoots into other storylines. Now I know what other two books I'll be reading soon!

Fun, fast romcom! Carla, newly arrived in Ireland to attend her best friend’s wedding, is being picked up and escorted across the country by none other than the groom’s hot brother, Eamon. To say it was “lust at first sight” is an under statement since these two end up having sex after a few hours and a few beers on the first night. Consider yourself trigger warned! They set off the next day but decide on a few side excursions and this is where the adventure begins. I read Float Plan last summer and LOVED it! In this story, Carla is the best friend of Anna, the bride, from Float Plan, but this can definitely be read as a stand alone. Thank you Netgalley, St. Martin’s Press, and the author for this eARC in exchange for my honest review. Available for purchase on March 7, 2023

This is the first I've read by the author/series.
The rootless wanderer meets internet cartographer, and the sparks fly. Each is emotionally self-protective but not physically.
Interesting read.
I requested and received a free ebook copy from St. Martin's Press/St. Martin's Griffin via NetGalley.

Float Plan is still my favorite in this series, but this is a close second. I enjoyed revisiting Anna and Keane, while meeting their loved ones and experiencing a little time in Ireland. Fans of the author will enjoy!

An enjoyable read that seemed to go by fast. Easy to curl up with and relax. Natural story arc and the return of a few loved characters.

This was such a quick easy read that I was surprised at the emotional journey it took me on. I really enjoyed Carla and Eamon’s insta-love wedding roadtrip and how quickly they bonded as friends and more. Carla showed Eamon how easy it would be to make the changes to his life that he’s been dreaming about, and Eamon’s family reminded Carla of what she’s been missing.

I loved all the stories about Carla and Biggie and what an amazing relationship they had. Their love of travel was such a wonderful bonding experience, and Carla continuing that when he couldn’t was such a tribute to him.

This is such a great romance, but also a story about finding your passion and making a life that sparks joy.

I loved the lightness and insta-attraction between the characters as they met and then went off the rails and did some exploring and bonding before a wedding they were to be the maid of honor and best man at.

I then loved the way the “80% breakup” was done in this one because it was something that needed to happen for both MC’s.

There were some light and heavy bits which is on par for this series and something I loved so much!

Thank you so much to the publisher for my ALC in exchange for my honest review!

Carla Black has spent her whole life traveling and never looked back. She doesn’t do love and she never goes home. When Carla arrives in Ireland for her best friend’s wedding, fate throws her together with Eamon Sullivan. What starts as a simple drive across Ireland, turns into adventure with unexpected detours and a chance of finding love.

Loved this one! Off the Map is a short novella in the Beck Sisters series and focuses on Carla Black, the honorary Beck sister. I’m not usually a fan of insta love, but this one was super fun to read! Carla and Eamon are so good together and Ireland made the perfect backdrop for their adventures. Trish does such an amazing job of blending together romance and more difficult topics. Watching Carla’s father battle dementia was heartbreaking! Overall, it was a great read and I can’t wait to add it to my shelf. Thank you NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and Trish Doller for my gifted e-ARC!

Off the Map is the third delightful adult novel written by Trish Doller. Each book is connected but they definitely stand alone. This novel features Carla Black, seasonal bartender, world traveler, somewhat loner. The story begins when she arrives in Dublin to join the brother of her best friend’s groom.

Carla is to be maid of honor for Anna Beck (Float Plan) while Eamon Sullivan will be best man for his brother Keane. As Carla heads towards the airport exit, she gets a text from Eamon to meet him at a small pub, so much easier than finding a stranger in a busy airport terminal. As Eamon is working this day to be able to be away for a week, it is afternoon before he arrives and is joyfully greeted so Carla can get away from a fellow who just won’t take a hint.

Carla and Eamon just click. When she learns Eamon has dreamt of traveling off the beaten path, rather than going straight to the village where his family lives, they take his Land Rover and travel off the map. As they travel together, they keep making excuses for a late arrival until they can delay no longer.

When emotions become tangled and their time comes to a close, Carla heads back to the states with the express objective of seeing her Dad, Biggie, who is slipping to dementia. When first diagnosed, Biggie had cut her loose to travel the world without him. They had traveled together since she was a small child and her mother left them. Marrying his long time girlfriend, Stella, Biggie is well cared for and Stella maintains the video chat relationship between father and daughter. After being with the large Sullivan family, Carla wants that relationship no longer, but wants to be with her Dad for as long as possible.

This is such a good story! Ms. Doller touches on so many emotions with humor and heart. I very much enjoyed this book, as I did the first two in this series, and do recommend it.

** spoiler alert **

Carla Black has spent most of her life traveling. Her next stop is Ireland to attend her best friend's wedding. Picking her up is the best man/brother of the groom, Eamon Sullivan. Eamon has secretly always dreamed of being more like his younger brother and traveling the world instead of working his stuffy (albeit successful) desk job. The two bond immediately over this common interest and find themselves on some pretty interesting detours as they make their way across the country.

Where books 1 & 2 were very much slow burns, this one catapults you straight into the story and spice which makes sense because Carla is very different from the Beck sisters. This was super fun and had many laugh-out-loud moments, but, like with Trish Doller’s other novels, it also had a serious undertone. Carla is processing the fact that her father has dementia and has avoided going home for years because of it (I may or may not have cried). Eamon is also struggling with his own issues (both professional and personal) so it was great to see them work these things out together while also growing their friendship and relationship.

I highly recommend the entire series (Float Plan, The Suite Spot, and Off the Map) if you are into cute romances that touch on serious, real-world topics as well.

DNF @ 20%

I'm really tired of comparing women to one another women, especially in a genre written by women, for women. It's not necessary to put the ex down by infantilizing social media and interior design as interests.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 rounded up. I really enjoyed this! After reading Float Plan, I was most excited about Eamon's story. It definitely delivered! I honestly wish I got more of Eamon? Off the Map was fast-paced from the beginning, they were giving me insta-love vibes from the jump. I almost wished there was more build-up, especially since they hadn't met before. Overall, I loved the setting and the story I just wish there was more! More Eamon, more love story, the book felt like it flew by even when I wanted to savor it.

Unfortunately, I don’t think this was the book for me. The graphic sex scenes are not my style and I strongly disagreed with the main character staying away from her father because he told her to. You want all of those fleeting moments you can get when your loved one is fighting dementia. Not to mention, the care is overwhelming and she left it all on her stepmom. I would still give this author another chance.

Carla lives her life on the road. Settle down to make some money for a few months, and then she is back on the road. When she heads to Ireland for Anna and Keanes wedding, she immediately hits it off with Keanes brother Eamon. Eamon is feeling a little bit lost, but when Carla shows up her travel bug sinks into him and he realizes what he wants out of life. One of those things being Carla, and the feeling it mutual.

I just adored this book! Eamon and Carla so obviously had a spark right from the start! I loved that she pushed him to travel, though if I was Anna and they were that late to my wedding events I may have flipped out. Either way, their adventures were so much fun, and I just wanted them to both admit that this was real! The ending hit hard for sure, but I loved the way the book came together.

After reading Float Plan, I was hooked on the way Trish Doller can masterfully balance tough themes, like grief, with a touching love story. In Off the Map, the third book of this Beck Sisters series, we dive into Carla Black’s trip to Ireland to celebrate her dear friend Anna's wedding (which I wished we got to see more of!). I loved Carla’s blunt personality and really enjoyed Eamon’s journey throughout, but I think I really fell for Carla’s Dad, in the most bittersweet way!

As the least outdoorsy person possible, I really enjoyed the adventures that Carla and Eamon go on together and the descriptions of Carla’s past travels as well. Yes, I had to Google what “overlanding” even was (it is a pretty self-explanatory term after all!) but I also felt like author Trish Doller put a lot of care and attention into this aspect of the book.

My only critique is I’m not a huge fan of insta-love. I also didn’t enjoy that they kept asking each other why they were still single, like it became a thing that turned me off. I get traveling with someone accelerates a relationship, but this story felt more focused on each individual's character arc and the romance plot took a back seat. Which is totally ok! I think there’s a lot about your upbringing, expectations and coping mechanisms that influence your partnerships, but it’s helpful to go into a book knowing what you’re getting.

4 out of 5 stars - If you ask me, I'll tell you to read it

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the free advanced copy I received. All opinions given are my own.

When I first heard there was going to be a third book in the "Beck Sisters" series, I wondered where the author would take it.... since there are only two Beck sisters. Turns out, they decided to follow one of their good friends! I liked the way the story between Carla and Eamon developed, even if I can't really relate to Carla's life philosophy of "here for a good time, not for a long time". I fully admit I had Google Maps pulled up on my computer following their route around Ireland. Having never been there, I was curious about the distances they traveled and what some of the areas looked like.

I really hope the series may continue on following other family members of the Sullivans (Eamon from this book and Keane from the first book in the series).

Full transparency I am not am fan of erotica so a romance without the steamy sex scenes is right up my alley. This book was perfect in that regard. Very well written and full of exciting and likeable characters, this book had a lot of depth. Have your tissues ready because this romance will leave you in tears - love love loved it.

I can get into Trish Doller’s writing so easily! I am a little sad the Beck sisters series has come to an end! I absolutely adored Carla as the honorary Beck sister. Her story put me through a roller coaster of emotions. I laughed and cried and got angry. It is great when a book just hits the emotions right! I am normally not into instalove trope stories, but the way we journey through Ireland with Carla and Eamon worked really well. We got to see both comedic and serious as they dealt with the physical journey driving through Ireland and emotion pull they were having with each other. I look forward to what Trish Doller has next for us!

I requested this one because it was giving me Leap Year vibes (cinematic masterpiece starring Amy Adams if you're not familiar). I mean the setting was similar and the premise of a romance on the road was familiar to me. Having never read Trish Doller's work I was not prepared to cry as intensely as I did during this read! Carla and Eamon are perfect for each other and while their romance is definitely the forefront of the novel, her relationship with her father was definitely what pulled my heartstrings. Like many readers, I did find the ending to be a bit rushed but I was overall satisfied with it. 3.5 stars.

Big thanks to St. Martin's Press, St. Martin's Griffin, and NetGalley for sharing this advanced reader copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

Just a heads up, this book will probably make you cry (not because it's bad, I promise), cause it made me sob.

This is the third book in the series and it does contain some small spoilers for the first two in the series, but it can definitely be read as a standalone.

This book was a very sweet and quick read. I enjoyed it very much! I loved the relationship between Carla and her dad, Biggie.
I loved the character development as well. Carla realizes what she needs most is to return home and Eamon realizes he needs to do what he wants with his life, instead of trying to make others happy.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and I would recommend to those who have read the previous books in the series.
