Another winner from Trish Doller! I love all her books and this was no exception. She writes such compassionate stories but they are also funny and the love stories are steamy and fabulous. The narration was great and I loved the Irish accent.
A swoon-worthy love story by Trish Doller. A mid-length contemporary romance novel which grabbed my interest from the beginning. Likeable characters, somewhat complicated family dynamics, and sexy chemistry kept me turning the pages. Highly recommend to romance genre lovers.

This was a lot of fun with a lot of heart, I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and the plot and the issues of grief dealt with throughout.
Good grief, Trish Dollar does it again. I loved her first two books... but this one, this one might take first prize. How can I get some emotional invested in a book, a relationship, a father and daughter... sigh, this book had me laughing out loud and blinking back tears.
Absolutely outstanding!
So I have an educator account so Netgalley asked me if I would use this in curriculum and that answer is no! BUT only because this is a book for adults obviously! I love romance novels and as a teacher I don't take much time for myself but boy was this book worth the time! I loved so many things about it, including the audiobook narrator and the voices she gave each character!
I feel like sometimes as a romance reader everything seems so predictable, like once you've read one romance novel you've read them all... but that just wasn't true with this book! Did it have a love story that was kind of predictable - yes. However, there was a family dynamic added into the story that usually romance books don't bother to include and I loved that this one included it! It gave you so much to think about as you read or listened to the audiobook!
I usually cry when I read romance novels during the typical romantic parts but I found myself shedding more tears over the family situation then I did over the romance. Therefore, it kept me interested and intrigued until the very end of the book! 5 stars for this one! The audiobook is great as well if you prefer to listen!
This is an insta-love romance, which is never a hit for me (side note: maybe I should stop reading them??) Not much really happened in the plot until the ending. It was a quick read and would make a good palate cleanser but not memorable for me.

When Carla lands in Ireland for her best friend's wedding, the best man, Eamon, picks her up in Dublin. They're supposed to drive straight to the wedding site - but this directive is anathema to Carla, a consummate traveler whose only family is the father whose dementia is making him forget her. When she learns Eamon has an unfulfilled itch for adventure, they decide to take a few detours. Over the course of their travels, their feelings deepen, but Eamon is bound to his family in Ireland and Carla isn't the type to settle down.
I enjoyed this sweet, heartfelt love story. The romance between Carla and Eamon felt authentic despite the story's short timetable, and I was interested enough in their future to keep turning the pages. Carla and her father's relationship, which initially felt like a minor subplot, developed wonderfully and gave the story's ending a lovely resonance. I had a few quibbles with the timetable of events in Carla's past as well as her rather self-centered outlook (she hasn't visited her ailing father in years; she nearly misses her best friend's wedding while road-tripping) but because the story was in her point of view, and so well-written, I was mostly able to view things from her standpoint and enjoy the ride.
This is my first read by Doller. I didn’t realize at the time that it was third in a series, but being romance, it’s not a big deal. I absolutely loved the setting! I’ve always wanted to visit Ireland so the descriptions were wonderful and made me feel like I was traveling with Carla and Eamon. This wasn’t just a light and fluffy rom com, there was also substance and emotions. The entire story about Carla and Biggie really pulled at my heartstrings.
If I had one complaint, I wish it had more of the substance and not so much lightness. I loved the story with Biggie and I wish there would have been a bit more focus there and how Carla grew and changed.

So, we have Carla. Carla is a bit of a wanderlust. Here today, gone tomorrow, she runs away from life rather than facing it. And she fully intends to keep that lifestyle, even after meeting sexy Irishman Eamon Sullivan, who’s a tad more stable than Carla in a practical sense. The pair meet when Eamon picks Carla up in Dublin after she flies in for the wedding of his brother and her best friend. Soon—and I mean sooooon, the sparks fly and Carla finds herself exploring more of Ireland than she anticipated. More shenanigans ensue when the pair venture to the wedding venue via Eamon’s ancient af Land Rover, taking every chance to venture off course for more sexy time adventures sure to spark a UTI.
Look, it’s not that this one was bad, it was just meh. Entertaining and quick, there really wasn’t anything of substance to it. Perhaps, if it had been more of a slow burn rather than insta-love/insta-lust and not so predictable, I would have liked it more. The jumping into bed right off the bat was a bit side-eye-inducing. But, as it was, it was an okay read.
However, it was also a bit hard read for me as, like Carla, one of my parents has dementia. Instead of escapism, I was brought back to my own life and struggles. This wasn’t the fault of the author, but I probably wouldn’t have read the book had I known that was part of the storyline.
I think many people will enjoy this one. It really is a cute, steamy romance and Eamon was all kinds of swoon-worthy. It just didn’t hit me in the feels like I was hoping it would. Also, I would love to know how Carla could afford to travel without working. Wouldn’t that be the life. If that was explained, I completely missed it.
Thank you, NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for my copy advanced copy of Off the Map. All opinions are my own.
I loved this story. Read it on the 13th and 14th of February and it was such a great story about love. Not just romantic love but the love between a daughter and her father. Love for the family you choose. Carla is a 33 year old woman who doesn't do romantic relationships. Her mother left when she was young and she was raised by her father. Her Dad traveled with her every summer break (he was a teacher) and she has a love for traveling that hasn't ended. She's going to Ireland to be in her best friend's wedding, Anna from the book Float Plan, and Keane's brother Eamon is meeting her in Ireland to take her to the location of the wedding. Carla and Eamon instantly hit it off. Just such a great read!
I just love Trish Dollers writing! I started this book last night after work, and finished this morning. There’s just something about her books that suck me in and I don’t want to put them down until I’m finished. Off the Map was really a beautiful story. I loved the relationship Carla had with her dad. It’s so relatable on many levels, and that’s one of the things I really loved about it. The entire story was so easy to fall in love with and of course the fact that it takes place in Ireland doesn’t hurt either!
Overall I loved this book!

I definitely liked the previous two books a bit more than this one BUT i did still really enjoy this one! It's a touch on the insta-love-y side of things but once you get past that I do think Eamon and Carla make a good match AND one thing I really loved about this book is that the conflict in the later half of the book isn't about some big miscommunication and even when both characters do have a misunderstanding they use their grown up words and are able to move past it so the conflict isn't this weird sad thing but a total real feeling problem. That definitely gets it extra points from me!! Can't wait to read more of Trish Doller's work :)
Carla Black doesn't stick around that long. She prefers her life on the road traveling through national parks. Eamon Sullivan is a modern-day cartographer creating digital maps but dreams of living on the open road. His work helps people find their way, but he’s the one who’s lost his sense of direction. Fate throws them together when Carla arrives in Dublin for her best friend’s wedding and Eamon is tasked with picking her up from the airport. But what should be a simple drive across Ireland quickly becomes complicated with chemistry-filled detours, unexpected feelings, and a chance at love. Except this isn't supposed to become a relationship. Carla doesn't do ties, except to her father Biggie who has deteriorated from dementia, and cut ties with her because he's afraid to show her how much he's changed. It's up to Carla to make the trip home and put down some roots and learn how to say goodbye and maybe even let a new man into her life when it doesn't fit into her plans.
I could not put this book down. It started off with a bang. This was definitely the steamiest of the 3 books in the series. But even with all the steam up front it still held that classic Trish Dollar pull-at-your-heartstrings emotion. This story was messy and beautiful and I loved it so much! Eamon was so swoony! And i enjoyed seeing some of our favorite characters from books past.
Do you ever believe a book is supposed to find out at the right moment? I picked up this book the week my grandma fell. She had dementia and the way the author wrote Biggie made me cry at the similarity. We ended up losing my grandma and I was reading this on the plane to come say goodbye. It was poetic to read about a character with dementia who we lose, the same time it was happening to me in real life.
Trigger Warnings: Death, Dementia
Thanks to the publisher for the ARC in return for an honest review. This book releases 3/7.
When I heard that a group was doing a buddy read of this book, I jumped on in. It was a very quick read as it was not very long, but it was super sweet and enjoyable. It is about Carla, who loves to travel and comes to Ireland for her best friend’s wedding (Anna, from Float Plan). She meets up with Eamon (Keane’s brother) to travel across the country to the wedding. They end up taking some detours along the way that lead to both love and Carla’s realization about what she is running from. This book contained a lot of steamy scenes – unlike the previous two books in this series – and also deals with the fact that Carla’s father is suffering from dementia. I felt that the story ended quickly, in a way that made me wish for more, but I still loved it.
Carla is a 33 year old waitress from Florida. when Carla isn’t working hard to save money she is traveling and camping, following her fathers advice of not bringing anything more than her backpack. While traveling to Ireland for her best friends wedding she meets Eamon the best man and defacto responsible older brother to the groom. She learns that Eamon is trying his best to fit himself into a life he really doesn’t want. While she’s realizing that she is pursuing the things she wants in life.
Carla and Eamon share an instant connections that is almost love at first sight, which while sweet I wish we had more of a build up to their relationship. I loved the parts where Carla has realized that it’s okay to get close to people and create a found family and I was really happy with her personal growth throughout the book. Overall a nice little read.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Off the Map is the third in a truly delightful series by Trish Doller. We are dropped right into Carla’s insta-love story with Eamon in the Irish countryside. One of my favorite things about this series is the way the author balances a sweet romance with deep personal struggles and growth. You can easily finish the book in one day, but it will still pack an emotional punch. I wish this book were a little longer, I wanted more time with Carla & Eamon and to see their relationship grow. Overall, I give this a solid 4 stars.
This is a pretty short book (277 pages) and an easy read so I flew right through it. This book had some things that worked well (the character life struggles, the mini-adventure in Ireland) and one trope that didn't - the insta-love. This is immediate chapter 1, you don’t even know the characters type of insta-love. I really like to FEEL the chemistry and have that buildup in a romance novel and it really just didn’t have that. There were other parts of the story that kept me reading, but overall it wouldn’t be one I would say is a must read.

Off the Map is an absolute delight. This is the first book by Trish Doller that I've read, but it will not be my last. My little Irish heart loved to see Eamon and Carla's journey adventuring throughout the country. While this book definitely was insta-love, it still managed to feel authentic. Eamon and Carla had great chemistry, and I wish we got to see more of them.
Another piece I loved was Carla's relationship with Biggie. I especially appreciated how nuanced it was, and while it was coated with a rose colored lens, it still had pieces that were realistic. I also really liked the Sullivan family dynamic, and I felt that it honored the complexities that sometimes come from a large family.
I definitely enjoyed this, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun read about travelling, vulnerability, and dealing with grief.
I adore this series! This one was no exception. I didn't know we were getting another book with this group of friends and I was so excited when I got this arc!
So I've seen some mixed reviews on this one because it was insta lust and not a lot of relationship build up, but I didn't mind. It was just a fun, quick, sweet read!
I will say that this is more spicy than the previous books in the series. They had so much chemistry.
I would have loved to hear Eamon's POV. We got a lot in conversation with Carla, but I wanted to learn more about why he wanted to travel and why he stayed with Sophie etc...
If you have wanderlust this will be a fun read for you. It made me want to take vacation (which isn't really like me.)
