When I think of books written by Trish Doller, I think of two things: kindness and travel. She writes such endearing characters that even the kindness of a random a stranger on a farm in the middle of Ireland thaws my cold heart. Also, she does the impossible and constantly makes me think I could become an outdoorsy girl.
Who am I kidding? The only reason I’d be spending any time in nature is if I had a hunky Irish lad to accompany me. There are a few more Sullivan brothers…
Okay, on to the review. I really loved this book. As soon as I learned about Carla’s family dynamic I knew Off the Map would make me tear up. The story is spicy but also wholesome and heartwarming and it was just really sweet. It's a very quick read that I finished in a single sitting and I already miss both characters.
Float Plan will always be my favorite in the series, because I can just connect with Anna on such a personal level. I love Doller’s writing and if nothing else, these books will give you a serious case of the travel bug.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book; all opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Griffin for allowing me to be an early reader.
A little slow in the beginning and harder to get into. I am also not a huge fan of the falling fast and hard trope, but if you are a fan, this is right up your alley. I really enjoyed the most adventurous scenes in Ireland and Florida but wish the authro would have stretched it out more.
When Carla flies to Ireland for her best friend’s wedding she is excited for her next adventure. Her father’s recent diagnosis of dementia has only increased her desire to travel as he was the one who taught her everything she knows. While in Ireland she meets Eamon who starts off as a vacation fling, but starts to feel like home.
I thought this was a cute vacation fling novel. There are some heavier topics addressed but overall the storyline was fairly light hearted. The main characters are fantastic and my lord Eamon may be my new favorite book boyfriend. This is the 3rd book in the series and I have not read the first two. That being said I think I would have probably understood some parts of the storyline better if I had read the others in the series but didn’t feel like an absolute need. Cute rom-com and an easy, quick read.
A very cute quick read! I didn’t think I was going to enjoy this book at all but I was pleasantly surprised.
Carla has continued her father’s passion for traveling the world but now she is traveling to stay away from the heartbreak of her father’s progressing dementia. She heads to Ireland for her best friend’s wedding and meets Eamon…brother of the groom. Of course sparks fly and their connection is instant.
I enjoy a romance with some spice but at the beginning of the book it was a little much for me. I was happy that the author concentrated more in the last half of the book on developing the characters instead of just throwing in sex scene after sex scene.
I did not realize this was the 3rd book in a series until I finished it but I feel this could definitely be read as a stand-alone book.
Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read this ARC and review.
I loved the previous book in the series and this one did not disappoint! I enjoyed all of the travel and adventures outdoors. Carla and Eamon have great chemistry and it is so easy to fall in love with them. Definitely recommend if you enjoyed the other books in the series!
Trish Doller writes some of my favorite contemporary romance these days, and Off The Map was a solid 4-4.5 star book for me. I’d seen it described as Float Plan on land and well, I really loved Float Plan, so I was ready for those vibes. I devoured this book in about 12 hours and definitely tissues to get through it.
I loved that the main characters are Carla (Anna’s best friend) and Eamon (Keane’s brother) and the events of the book lead to Anna and Keane’s wedding in Ireland. The meet cute is fantastic and the immediate chemistry between Carla and Eamon is off the damn charts. Those Sullivan brothers are just so fecking charming.
I loved the road trip and forced proximity elements and also the peak into Anna and Keane’s life and future. My biggest issue is I wanted the book to be longer. There wasn’t enough time for either Carla or Eamon to really deal with their baggage before they came back together for their HEA so the third act felt rushed and incomplete for me.
Content warnings: Carla’s father has dementia and the grief of his decline is a major theme of the book. Carla’s mom is absent.
I voluntarily read an early copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Off the Map is the third book in the Beck sisters series and I absolutely enjoyed this book. Trish Doller has a way of storytelling that makes you want to experience life to the fullest, and to me, that's a very powerful thing. I loved the first two books in the series. I'm obsessed with both Eamon Sullivan and Carla Black and they worked so well together and complemented one another perfectly. The instalust to lovers trope fit the story and I was pleasantly surprised by the spiciness in this one. It was so great to see Anna and Keane (however, I wish we did get more Rachel and Mason). Carla and her dad's relationship hit really close to home and had me crying in multiple places.
Overall, this book was SO GOOD! It can definitely be read as a standalone, but reading the first two books will make it more satisfying
Thank you to St. Martin's Press, St. Martin's Griffin & NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this digital ARC
Off The Map by Trish Doller is another great installment in the Beck Sisters novels.
Carla is heading to Ireland to attend her best friend’s wedding as maid of honor. Carla is supposed Eamon, the best man, at the airport in Ireland as they travel to the wedding together. Their journey gets a bit delayed as Carla inspires Eamon to pursue his own happiness and they make a few planned (and unplanned!) detours along the way.
I thought the story was sweet. The lessons of pursuing your own happiness and the importance of family were present throughout and inspiring. I found Carla’s character a bit frustrating, but ultimately I feel like it did end up playing well to the story.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press/Griffin for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
I loved Float Plan and The Suite Spot, so I had high hopes for Off the Map and it did not disappoint!
The book begins with Carla arriving in Dublin for the wedding of Anna and Keane (from Float Plan). She’s meeting up with Keane’s brother Eamon to road trip to the wedding venue. Sparks fly, they’re immediately attracted to each other and things get steamy (this book is not a slow-burn). But honestly, I don’t blame her. Eamon has officially been added to my book boyfriend list! He’s ADORABLE (and so sexy)! It was also fun to re-visit old characters (but you don’t have to read the previous books to enjoy this one)!
The main story follows their detours and adventures as they make their way to the wedding, but the background story (and last part of the book) is about Carla and her relationship with her dad. Biggie (her dad) has dementia and sent Carla off to travel the world so she wouldn’t see him deteriorate. My grandpa is suffering from advanced dementia right now, so some parts were hard to read, but I thought the topic was handled with care. But if that is a trigger for you, I’d recommend skipping this one.
Carla starts off a little self-centered and immature, but she grows a lot in the book and eventually she gets over herself and visits Biggie. Their relationship is so sweet, but Biggie’s partner and caregiver Stella steals the show. She’s absolutely wonderful and such a patient caretaker. She just seems like such a great person.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to Trish Doller’s next one! 4.5/5 stars
I really liked the first 2 books in the series but this installment was missing some of the charm. The main characters hook up pretty quickly so the build up found in the earlier books was missing. I wanted to know more about Eamon’s backstory but I feel like it took a while to get there. I wanted more of Anna’s wedding too. I did like the end where you get to meet Biggie - that felt more grounded and interesting.
Overall a good book but it didn’t pull me in the way the first two did. Thanks to NetGalley and St Martins for the arc.
I have enjoyed all of the Beck Sister books & Off the Map did not disappoint. It brings a little of everything: sweet, funny, sad, love, spice.
Carla travels to Ireland to be the maid of honor in Anna & Keane’s wedding (remember them from The Float Plan!!!) Eamon, Keane’s brother & best man, is her transportation when she arrives in Ireland & they hit it off fast. They have an instant attraction, but it wasn’t an insta-love (which made me happy). Their story is full of travel detours, adventures, & chemistry.
There was also an emotional story line with Carla & her Dad, Biggie. Her childhood was full of traveling with Biggie while he raised her alone. He now has dementia and she is learning how she came to this place in her life.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this advanced copy for an unbiased review.
"How are you still single?" I ask for the third time since we've met, making him smile.
"Because you're not mine yet."
After reading 'Float Plan', I was looking forward to reading Eamon's story.
Carla Black comes to Ireland to be the maid of honor at Anna's wedding. When she meets Eamon for the first time, the attraction was instant. Knowing it would be a fling the couple indulged their whims as they travelled off the map until they got to their final destination.
Together they helped each other discover what is important and how to live life to the fullest. Never taking a moment for granted.
I found Carla and Eamon played off each other well with their different personalities. The story was swoony and funny. I loved how honest and open they were with each other.
A solid 4 stars!
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for an ARC copy of this book to review.
I didn't realise going into this book that it was the 3rd of a series. However, I had no problem reading it as a stand-alone!
I liked this book. There were a lot of cute moments and the setting in Ireland made me want to pack a bag and head to the airport.
BUT there were some things I didn't enjoy as much:
1. I'm not a big fan of insta-love or insta-lust. The characters get together right at the beginning of the book and I was a bit disappointed. I like me some slow-burn attraction.
2. I thought the characters were a bit annoying at times. For example, the MMC brings up his ex a lot and seems to blame her for a lot of things that didn't happen in his life. That's not an attractive quality to me. Sure, bad relationships exist, but it seems he was partly to blame here.
I was not ready for the last 30% of the book. I spent the entire time bawling my eyes out. It was really touching and moving, and it redeemed the book for me. In fact, I'm giving a whole star just for the last 30%.
I finished this book with tears rolling down my eyes and a smile across my face. I don't think there is much else to say other than this book is perfect. I fell in love with Eamon and Carla and their story couldn't have been told any better. 5 stars, 2.5 spice
This series started off so strong and these last two books have been very Just Okay to me. I didn't really feel much more than a sexual connection between Eamon and Carla. One of the main things I wanted in the first book was more heat, but this one was almost TOO far in the other direction. Needed more plot (I know, who am I?) and more chemistry. I have no problem with insta-lust, but then the love has got to develop for this to be a good romance and this one just kind of fell flat.

This book.
Ok. I’m going to start with …
Publication date: MARCH 7th 2023 (thank you @netgalley for the ARC)
@trishdoller has become an author whose books I will automatically add to my TBR list. This is book 3 in the Beck Sisters series ~ and in my opinion, they just keep getting better.
▪️Off The Map takes us to Ireland and introduces us to Carla (not a Beck sister, but a best friend, so we know her from the first two books in the series). This story packs some off-roading adventures and camping, feelings of loss, loads of self growth, a generous sprinkle of romance and… so much LOVE.
Everything about this was wonderful. This book gave me all the feels ~ a warm, tingly, never want this to end kind of feeling. I read it in one day - I couldn’t put it down.
Fast paced, great characters and if you’ve read “The Float Plan” and “The Suite Spot” ~ we get to see some of our old friends. You can read this as a stand-alone, but don’t. Read the others first. They were both excellent.
FYI:
*The Float Plan was a 4⭐️ read for me
*The Suite Spot was a 4.5⭐️ read for me
Final note for Trish… please write Ciara’s story. Let’s go back to Ireland and see what she has in store for us!
***SPOILERS AHEAD!!!***
Ok Trish Doller, I see you!! This is my first book to read by Trish Dollar and hello spice! If you hate waiting for the spice, this is your book! Seriously within the first 10% (read on kindle)! I want to be an adventurer like Carla. Every summer, she would travel with her Dad ("Biggie") and then by herself after he developed dementia and told her not to stop. While on her one journey, she attends her best friends wedding in Ireland where she meets the grooms brother (Eamon). As the BM and MOH, they are suppose to go immediately to the wedding location. Eamon has always had an itch of travel so they detour for 4 days. She's showing him travel life and how to fix a wrecked car and he's showing her true commitment. After the wedding she decides it time to go home. Biggie is getting worse and she wants time with him.. She doesn't know that he would pass after a short time. I knew Eamon would come back for the celebration of life. It was then that he asked her to travel with him for what was suppose to be his first solo travel. I want to say that this book was wrapped up in a pretty bow but I can't! Ms. Trish Doller, I need to know about that very last line. "What could possibly go wrong?" SERIOUSLY! EXCUSE ME? I do that Eamon has a lot to offer Carla even though they barely know each other. Hopefully more adventures to come for Carla and Eamon. There are 2 books a head of this one where you meet several recurring characters but this can be a standalone.
A five-star read that left me begging for more!!!
This off-roading caper will whet your appetite for adventure, leave you laughing out loud, and tug on your heartstrings. Our protagonist, Carla Black, thrives on exploring the unknown, traveling to new places, gathering stamps in her passport, and living by her family motto, “Here for a good time, not for a long time.” When she arrives in Ireland for a friend’s wedding, she’s thrown—quite literally—into the arms of Eamon Sullivan, a digital mapmaker by profession who could use a little extra direction in his personal life. What starts as a simple drive across the Emerald Isle quickly becomes the adventure of a lifetime filled with side adventures, a touch of peril, and tons of chemistry. While waiting for this to come out next month, be sure to check out Float Plan and The Suite Spot!
#book4of2023 Off The Map by Trish Doller This is the third book in the Beck Sisters series, but all three make great stand alones. This book follows Carla, a veteran world traveler, as she makes her way to Ireland for her best friend Anna’s wedding to Keane (The Float Plan). She is supposed to meet Eamon, Keane’s brother, to make their way to Tralee. After a moderately spicy night, the two find out they may have more in common than they realize. They decide to go on a camping a
adventure seeing as they have a little bit of time before they need to arrive for the wedding. The adventure turns into many hilarious and endearing adventures as they fall victim to a Sangria drinking bull, a rolled Land Rover, and memory making. It’s the memory making for Carla that has her reminiscing on the memories she made traveling with her dad during her childhood. He has dementia and his memory is hit or miss. She has to make a choice- a very difficult choice and I have to admit… I think I sobbed through the last few chapters of this book. It’s by far my favorite out of the three.
A sincere thank you to NetGalley, St Martin’s Griffin, and Trish Doller for providing me an advanced readers copy of Off The Map for providing an honest review. This will be published on March 7, 2023. #kristalreads #netgalley #Stmartinspress #newbookreview
I think I knew from the 1st sentence that this book was gonna ensure that my eyes are going to leak tears until they can’t anymore
Listen sometimes I can read a book about a father and daughter and I’m ok. And then sometimes I read one and I’m a mess
Today Im the messiest
Maybe I just needed a really good cry. Maybe I just really miss my dad. Maybe really good fictional dads are my downfall bc my real dad was the best. And. I didn’t appreciate that till I was older. 😭😭😭
I used to search high and low for books that would emotionally tear me apart. Sigh. I don’t look for those anymore.
Listen to most this is a insta love romance book.
To me it was about a dad and his daughter and how he shaped her life.
It probably won’t make you guys cry like it did to me but anyways im gonna go continue to cry in a corner.
