Off The Map by Trish Doller is the story of Carla Black and how she discovered herself while getting lost in the wild beauty of Ireland. Carla's father, Biggie Black, taught her all she needed to know about travel and adventure. Starting with "pack light". Carla applies this advice to most aspects of her life, including her relationships. Then she meets Eamon Sullivan and a simple drive across Ireland, to her best friend's wedding, turns into a series of unplanned adventures and maybe even love.

Overall this was an easy to read book and I enjoyed it!

Off The Map was the perfect conclusion to the Beck sisters trilogy! Each novel has dealt with serious topics in the most gentle and well-written way. This story deals with a parent having dementia, a very real scenario for so many. Carla’s story is no exception. I really enjoyed imaging the scenes set in Ireland. One thing about Doller’s writing is that it’s so descriptive, you won’t have trouble picturing what’s going on. Eamon and Carla are great characters and I really enjoyed their story (especially because I’m not a huge fan of the insta-love trope, but also it was not only well done here but believable in that it’s possible for people to just “click” so instantly). This series will definitely go done as a favorite and I will recommend it to many people!

He’s the Best Man. She’s the Maid of Honor. He is tasked to pick her up upon arrival in Ireland… it’s a classic romance trope, except instead of tension and chemistry slowly building, Carla and Eamon are immediately attracted to each other. I was worried that I wouldn’t connect with the characters, but I really enjoyed this surprising format.

This is the third “romance +” book I’ve read by Trish Doller and I have loved all of them. This series of connected characters features travel to exciting locations, complex characters living through tough real life situations, and spicy romance that tugs at your heart (and tear ducts). Tropes: wedding party romance, car trouble and detours on way to the wedding, animals (sheep blocking the road, saving a kitten), and long-distance love.

Content Warnings: parental abandonment, dementia

Okay, this book was so darn cute.

The characters were likable, funny, and they communicated SO WELL with each other. I mean Carla was a dream protagonist: she was strong and resilient while also showing her vulnerable side. She had a huge heart for traveling and her connection to those places and to life on the road was fun to read. I also really liked her and Eamon's impromptu road trip, they were hilarious and got into some pretty funny altercations. Also, Eamon was so swoon worthy!! 😍😍😍 The connection between Carla and Eamon was so strong, it was like they had already known each other for so long. This book also served an emotional side with Carla's relationship with her father. I felt like that part of the story was beautiful and made the story feel so real.

Off the Map reintroduces us to Eamon Sullivan and Carla Black. In Dublin for her best friend's wedding, professional wanderluster Carla immediately hits it off with best man, and the groom's brother, Eamon. Carla's life is currently complicated and the last thing she is looking for is something serious. But will a few days off the beaten path with a sexy Irishman have her giving up all the rules?

It was so nice to be back in the Beck Sister universe. Although Off the Map follows suit and tackles tough subjects, the pacing in this book felt much faster than the previous two. Two strangers kissing like old flames within the first chapter!! I love the Irish setting, local pubs and the green countryside. & I love these two characters. Eamon is adventurous & funny. Carla is independent, flirty and strong. All the makings for a fun trip and possible romance are there, but with her ailing dad back home in Florida slowly losing his memory one day at a time, she feels more vulnerable than ever...and her instinct to keep people at arm's length go into overdrive.

Fun, sexy, and utterly heartbreaking. Off the Map is a must read! Love your people while you've got the chance, make the memories, collect the mementos, and take the pictures.

This is my third book that I’ve read from Trish Doller. And honestly I think it’s my favorite yet. I’m not one for instant love/connection in a book but it really works here.

I love the travel and the personal growth and the overall chemistry between the characters. I laughed and did a fair amount of crying but this book was sooooo with it.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest review. Definitely one of my favorite books in a long time.

Having read Float Plan and The Suite Spot, I’m not sure why I was so surprised by the heart of this, but oh my gosh THE HEART. I was not prepared to cry as much as I did. I loved this book.

Carla has such an adventurous spirit and has seen so much of the world, living without fear of traveling and doing it on her own. She was raised by her father, Biggie, and he fostered that adventurous spirit from a young age. The memories she shares with him are so lovely. Her fears lie in facing emotions and forming attachments to anyone who may let her down. The way her journey and growth throughout this book plays out is heartfelt and genuine, and I felt so grateful she found her way.

Eamon was a perfect complement to Carla. She helped unlock and free the craving for his own adventures that he kept buried in favor of being the responsible, reliable son. He opened her eyes to facing the hard moments rather than escaping to another new location to explore. He provided exactly what she needed and she provided exactly what he needed. I fully believed in them even with the quick and limited time initially spent together.

This book was everything I could’ve wanted and wouldn’t have thought to ask for. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press/St. Martin’s Griffin for the eARC.

I enjoyed the previous book in this series and was excited for this one! They can 100% be read as standalones.

Ultimately, this one was a quick and easy read but the instant romance wasn't for me. I wish there would have been a little more depth to their relationship and that they had taken time to know each other more. This book had several descriptive sex scenes which also isn't a preference for me.

If you're into travel romances and instant love, then you may enjoy this one.

Thanks St Martin's Press for the ARC.

This will be available for purchase March 7,2023.

⭐️ rating: 4 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
📖 genre: romance
🔥 steam: open door (several graphic scenes)
tropes: instalove

Warning: this book will make you want to quit your job, buy a Jeep, and travel the globe. 😍

This might be my favorite book out of the Beck sisters trio. Clara was adventurous, witty, intelligent, and had the “tack of a machete” - but that worked for me! Eamon was great and sexy, but ultimately was a little one-dimensional. The story would have really benefited from chapters from his POV.

That said: I read this in under 12 hours, cried several times, and will now be planning a yearly vacation to fulfill this newfound wanderlust. 🤣

I would recommend this one for romance & travel lovers!

Wow I finished this in one day! I didn't realize this was the third book in the series, but I've had the first book Float Plan on my tbr forever. Off the Map stands alone, though, without having read the first two books, which I deeply appreciated because this was so good!

I loved the instant attraction between Eamon and Carla, and the adventures they made together were fun, entertaining, and very hot!

4.5/5 stars and I'll definitely go back and read the first two now!

A girl Carla Black who's life motto is “here for a good time, not for a long time.” A modern-day cartographer Eamon Sullivan who creates maps but has lost all sense of direction in his life and a simple drive across Ireland. What could go wrong, right?!

OFF THE MAP is a beautiful book that shows how sometimes a wrong turn can lead you to the exact right destination.
This book is filled with Unexpected feelings & detours.
And as it's well said "sometimes detours become the destination."

This book was just wonderful. I am a big fan of Trish Doller and love the way she makes her books so fun while also getting at very real emotions and big topics—not easy to do!

Carla is en route to her best friend’s wedding in Ireland. She plans to carpool with the groom’s brother, but when they meet sparks fly and they end up taking a series of detours before arriving at the wedding destination.

Some loves:
- chemistry between Carla and Eamon. I thought their connection was very believable.
- road trip through Ireland! Need I say more?
- Carla’s relationship with her dad, which gives a lot of insight into her character.
- I just loved Carla’s stepmom. For a relatively minor character she really made an impression on me.

This story works as a stand-alone but I’d recommend reading THE FLOAT TRIP and THE SUITE SPOT first tó make it even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Off the Map follows Carla who arrives in town for her best friend’s wedding and meets Eamon along the way. As the brother of the groom he is heading to the same wedding and the two commit to some various adventures along the way. A key to any great romance for me is great character development and banter and this hits both of these things! This novel is an absolute delight.

The others were great too, but this one was my favorite in the series!

Love at first sight might be a bit strong of a statement. Maybe “attraction at first sight” and throw in the “best friend’s brother-in-law” trope. Carla and Eamon click immediately and make their short road trip into a longer adventure through Ireland. Loved their banter and their immediate connection. Also enjoyed hearing about all the places they visited and planned to visit.

(Content warning: Carla’s father has dementia and it’s discussed a lot in the story.)

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Watch for Off the Map to come out March 7, 2023!

I've read quite a few romance novels lately, and this one just wasn't my style. Carla and Eamon's extremely quick start to their relationship seemed very unrealistic and without much substance. I read this as a standalone book, so perhaps reading previous books in the series would have left me appreciating this one more. Off the Map was a quick and easy read but I found myself wanting more depth in this story.

Off the Map is an entertaining modern-day, road-trip romance set in Ireland, featuring the maid of honor, Carla Black, and the best man, Eamon Sullivan. The wedding in question is that of Anna, Carla’s best friend, and Keane, Eamon’s younger brother. Anna and Keane were the main characters in Trish Doller’s previous book, Float Plan. Although connected to The Float Plan, Off the Map can easily be read as a stand alone. Doller’s writing in both stories is characterized by the emotional depth of the relationships of her characters, so both are a treat to read.

Carla and Eamon hit it off immediately when Eamon is assigned to pick her up from the airport. Carla’s home base is Fort Lauderdale where she works as a bartender during the tourist season, cutting corners and saving her money so that she can travel the world the rest of the year. Her mother left when she was a child so she is exceptionally close to her father, Biggie. Sadly, Biggie has dementia and has asked Carla not to stick around to watch his condition deteriorate. Carla has adopted Biggie’s motto of “here for a good time, not for a long time,” so her only other ongoing and close relationship is with Anna.

Eamon is one of seven children, who has suppressed his own dreams and desires to make other people happy. He has just ended one of a string of unsuccessful relationships and works at a tech company that provides GPS systems.

When Carla finds out that Eamon has always wanted to go camping in the nearby Wicklow Mountains—and that he already has all the necessary gear to do so--she convinces him that there is no time like the present. With a few days until the they are both needed for the wedding, the couple set off on their road trip.

As with all good road trips, they learn about more than the scenery along the way. It’s very satisfying to watch their relationship grow and they challenge themselves in other ways. This is a couple that it’s easy to root for, and the secondary characters as appealing as the main characters. Full of both laughter and tears, it’s a road trip to remember. For those who have also read The Float Plan, the story is enhanced by a chance to catch up with Anna and Keane.

this book made my heart ache. i feel like I loved it more as a journey of self discovery than a romance. I’ll admit her romance with Eamon felt very rushed to me. The book was much shorter than I expected and I feel like it did them a disservice. I wish there was more personal connection and I feel like it was more sex than anything. Personally, the romance wasn’t my favorite part. I do like that she chose him and chose to let in personal connections. My favorite part though was Carla’s relationship with her father and his decline with dementia broke my heart. I do love that she got her closure with him and ended up choosing a life full of love instead of choosing to be alone. Such a good emotional read. Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for access to this advanced copy. Off the Map will be released on March 7th, 2023!

Let me start out by saying that I’m a huge Trish Doller fan. Float Plan is one of my favorite romance novels ever, and I also thoroughly enjoyed The Suite Spot. I’ve been waiting for this book for awhile!
However, while the characters have the same charm as those in previous works, Off The Map slightly missed the mark for me.
I was thrown off immediately by Eamon and Carla sleeping together right away. I’m no prude, but the slow burn in the first two installments of this series was a big part of the appeal. This just felt like forced intimacy in a bid to hurry the storyline along. It definitely left me feeling empty as I read.
Overall, this was a nice read, but it was disappointing in the context of the Beck sisters series.

“Here for a good time, not for a long time.”

Free spirit Carla Black and “stuck in a rut”Eamon Sullivan meet up in Dublin for the wedding of his brother to her best friend. (Anna and Keane from Float Plan ❤️) After many drinks at the pub and a night spent together, Carla and Eamon decide to take a detour on their way to the wedding in Tralee.

This impromptu road trip is the beginning of an intense and captivating relationship between Carla and Eamon as they both open up to each other about their lives, their hopes, dreams and feelings. Carla has spent her life traveling and not getting tied down or close to other people. Eamon has a job he dislikes and doesn’t put a priority on his own happiness.

After a whirlwind few days and a beautiful wedding, Carla and Eamon realize they need to make changes in their lives. These changes will end their relationship as they are headed in different directions. Carla returns to Florida where her father is battling dementia and Eamon decides it’s time for him to do the traveling he always wanted to do.

This book is filled with such heart and raw emotion. I love Carla’s character and her need to find adventure. Eamon is just as swoony as his brother Keane. I absolutely adored him. I laughed, I cried and I found myself not wanting this story to end. Carla and Eamon brought out the best in each other and learn that life is full of adventures, found family, and most importantly, love.

“My favorite parts are always about you.”
