I love children's books that teach them math and empathy at the same time. This book isn't groundbreaking, of course, but it's such a good fun for children. I'm going to look out for this book in my country's book stores for my nieces and nephews. Thanks to Netgalley for this advanced reading copy.

What a great series! This book combines images of helping and kindness with some math concepts. Each picture shows people working together for a greater cause whether it be to tend a park or help people vote. I love how it explains how we can each be better citizens from small actions to large. Perfect for children in early elementary school. Perfect content for civics instruction.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC. All thoughts are my own.

A creative combination of math and SEL for young readers. Perfect as a math practice for kids age 5-8 while also addressing ways to work together and help one another. The book helps teach young readers that service and showing each other kindness are great for building community and fostering strong bonds. A great book for class or home reading with a group or paired reading.

This book adds pairs of people to perform jobs helping others. It begins with 1 pair and ends with the question of what 50 pairs of people could do. A spot for pictures of the pairs allows the reader to count the pairs or number of people. Each shows how to multiply the pairs to determine the number of people. The illustrations are colorful and busy. Readers will have fun discussing the tasks being performed.

I thought that this was a really lovely book and it was a fun read too!

My daughter is learning this at the moment at school so it was great to tie the book in with what she is actually learning so it was a great book for bedtime

The book was bright and colourful and the illustrations were great and really worked with the story

The book has a theme of helping others too so there is another angle to the book as well

It is 4 stars from me for this one – highly recommended and a different way to learn from some of the other books out there

Pairs of People has vibrant illustrations to show groups of people serving others. The variety of service is inspiring, from a book sale to sholveling a neighbor’s walkway to volunteering at a race, this book shows the variety of ways you can be involved in your community. This book also shows the power of multiplcation, and is a good way to visualize what can be an initially confusing math concept.

I received an Advanced Readers Copy from Net Galley. All opinions expressed are my own.

Pairs of People is not only a cute, well illustrated children's book, it also conveys a positive message about promoting a sense of community and generosity, all the while helping kids learn and/or revise their math table of two.
A fun, educational and inspiring little book.

What a fun and engaging story that teaches children the benefits of working together and as a bonus encourages math skills. The rhythmic style of writing is catchy and the illustrations are really cute. I think children would enjoy the fill in part at the end. Another Nana approved book! Thanks #NetGalley

I don't know if I ever seen a book like this for multiplication. I really enjoyed the break down of each page and how the reader can see the result via the images and the equation themselves
An added bonus was the inclusiveness of the images, it's always nice to see all races and all abilities.

On the whole I enjoyed this brightly-illustrated, well laid-out book which teaches multiplication by depicting increasing numbers of pairs. The pairs themselves take the form of people engaging in volunteer work and related community-based activities. The combined focused of pairs and civic engagement is perhaps a bit niche, but in this case it feels genuine and is executed pretty successfully.

Delightfully drawn, beautifully written. The combination of mathematics (multiplication), sweet rhymes, and inspiring efforts to help others combine to make this book a sure winner in math class, reading class and humanities. Well done!

Pairs of People by Jeanne and Mark K. Shriver is a wonderful picture book that teaches the importance of helping others. The characters in this story are part of a great community where people help each other. This book teaches the valuable lesson that everyone should lend a helping hand when they can. As a math teacher, I really enjoyed how this book tackled introducing multiplication to its readers. I loved that the number of pairs was tracked at the bottom of each page. This helps the reader retain the information learned from previous pages. I also really enjoyed the questions at the end of the book. If the reader knows that 1 pair= 2 people, and 2 pairs= 4 people, can they figure out what 50 pairs would be? This is a great way to get the reader to extend their thinking, and apply what they have learned in this book to a new scenario. Finally, the illustrations in this book were bright, positive, and happy. This was a very enjoyable book!

What a precious book full of kind and compassionate community helpers. Wonderful examples for children to see of people coming together, caring for one another, and making their community a better place.

There’s so much to see on every page, and even for those too young to understand the concept of pairs and addition, the messages on each page are wonderful. Seeing these scenes of people caring for one other is truly heartwarming!

Thank you NetGalley and 4U2B Books & Media for the opportunity to read this eARC.

My six year old daughter enjoyed this book very much.
Illustrations was superb and the rhyming if words really kept her interested.

A fun book to enjoy with your children.
My 4year old didn't keep her attention to it that well but for the 6year old it was fantastic.

Pairs of People is a rhyming book about community with a dash of math included. The book goes through different ways to contribute to a community and how there are strengths in numbers. My six year old enjoyed shouting out the answers to the math equations. Overall, a fun book that can lead to deeper conversations about what it means to be part of a community.

Thank you to NetGalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Beautiful illustrations! I loved the message and how it highlights the importance of community. Each person can make a difference especially if we buddy up with someone else, and even more in a group. Together as one, nothing is impossible and we can all make an impact! Great math exercise with young ones too!
