Mrs. Charlotte Entwhistle-Graves is the scarious, villainous woman to read about in a romance book. Her depth of evil knows no bounds as she uses anyone at her disposal to get what she wants. Barrett Falconer Graves, the Duke of Hargrieve, knows how manipulative his aunt can be. Her unexpected arrival at Griffingate with her children and her daughter's governess, Miss Minerva Stone is very suspicious. Barrett is immediately struck by Miss Stone's beauty, but knows he can't act on his desire. He still has nightmares of his father and brothers' murders when he was a child. He wasn't supposed to survive. From the blow to his head, he cannot remember all that happened. Murder, attempted murder, kidnapping and the knowledge of Bedlam will eventually solve the mystery of the past. This book takes off from the first page to a very satisfying finish.
Some steam.

4.5 stars
Following the tragic murders of his father and brothers when he was a child, and his own grievous injury that left him with no memory of the event, Barrett knows what the world thinks of him. The rumours and scandal that follow him everywhere he goes are reason enough to stay hidden away at Griffingate. When Charlotte Entwhistle-Graves, her brood of children, and their intriguing governess Minerva Stone descend on his quiet, isolated world, Barrett finds himself in the middle of plots, schemes, and a confidence game of epic proportion. He’s drawn to her as he has never been drawn to anyone else.
The sixth book in the series & a lovely mix of romance, mystery, scandal & murder. Strangely, for me, I’ve not read all of the books in this series so that’s something I need to rectify, especially if they are as good as this one. I really liked both Barrett (good name!!) & Minerva & found myself engrossed in their journey to a HEA, I was sometimes on the edge of my seat & found it hard to put down
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I found this book a little too dramatic, but that’s just a personal preference. There’s plenty of action and scheming and murder plots, and if you want a book with all of those things, this one totally hits the mark.

I liked both Barrett and Minerva, and I would have loved to know them more deeply as characters. I especially would have loved to see some more meaningful scenes with just the two of them. What we got of that was great. I wanted more.

I absolutely loved the two children, Meredith and John. Sometimes kids are so poorly written that they drag a book down, but these two were fab, and I loved any scene they were part of.

It was a wild ride, but it was actually pretty fun, even for someone who doesn’t always love a wild ride.

An engrossing entertaining story, great characters and well written romance. Lot's of scandal and secrets with mystery and murder kept me reading on and being unable to put this down. I'm enjoying this series just as much as I always do with the author's book's. she is one of my must buy author's. I can't wait for the next book. An engrossing story, great characters and well crafted romance. Scandal and secrets but Minerva and Barrett work their way through to an enduring love. A magnificent obsession that builds to a wonderful happy ending.

Minerva is the Duke of Hargrieve’s obsession from the moment he sees her, definitely lust at first site. Thank goodness his obsession grows from lust to love as they get to know each other and bring an end to the belief he is a murderer. Ms. Bowlin writes an exceptional romance intertwined with the murder mystery of Barrett’s father and brother. We learn early who the villains are, but that only adds to the question of how they will be caught and how will the duke regain his memory so many years later. As only children can, the duke’s niece and nephew add to the charm of Minerva and Barrett’s romance with their love and care for each other.

This is definitely a stand-alone and, also one of the Hellion Club series. As part of the series, Minerva is a graduate of the Darrow School run by Effie Darrow. Hopefully, she and Highcliiff will find their HEA soon, just as all graduates of the Darrow School.

It was an attraction at first sight that developed into love. Amidst all that they had to deal with the product and aftermath of an avaricious, diabolical and manipulative mind. Tender loving moments will move the reader to tears and the evil intent from the malevolent character will fill one with dread. An excellent read!

Barratt Graves, the Duke of Hargrieve had a terrible childhood after the deaths of his father and older brothers. A family friend saved him from the less than tender mercy of his aunt, but rumours have persisted. Now years later that same aunt has dumped her children on his doorstep.

Minerva Stone is a very special governess. Her charge is a lovely young girl but her two older brothers are dangerous. Our heroine didn't realise until almost too late just who is in the most danger or from whom.

This historical romance will wring out your emotions. We get murder, traumatized children and an evil scheming woman. Obviously we also have a lighter side, it's a romance after all. This book is from a series of books where all can be read alone, but you will occasionally meet characters from the other books. All are great characters with strength, independence and lots of love to give.

An exciting story. I loved it.

Charlotte becomes a governess to a young girl whose family is unbelievably cruel. They go to live in the house of the family’s reclusive Uncle Barrett. The nephews, whom are his heirs, are bothering the pretty governess as well as bullying their younger sister. This is all with their despicable mother’s approval. Barrett, a duke, is appalled and attempts to stop it. Plagued by scandal, Barrett finds himself immediately attracted to Charlotte but knows he is too immersed in scandal to wed. Charlotte, attracted to Barrett, knows she is too below him in class to wed him. While fighting their attraction for each other, they also are fighting off harmful attacks that come from all sides. I am enjoying the Hellion Club series and look forward to the next one! I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.
