If I am being honest here, this wasn't the best book. For starters, the timeline was confusing. As in, the way the events are described, it seems that they happened a long time ago when really it was 6 weeks ago. Then we have the plotholes, and how they jumped from one end to another. How did we even get there? No clue. The ending? Super rushed in my opinion.

I think the book definitely had some potential, but it just didn't hit for me.

Thank you, NetGalley for the ARC.

Lucy gets fired from her job and in the middle of dealing with that, needs to find a date to her wedding. Somehow, the only date she can find ends up being the billionaire boss who fired her. Unfortunately, he has his own motives for agreeing to be her date.

This book lost me from the start. I kept going with hopes it would get better, but I found the first few chapters confusing and hard to follow. I made it about a fourth of the way through and I had to stop. I hate that but I just couldn’t connect with the characters or hold on to the way it was written. I wasn’t engaged with the story.

Lucy Barr needs a fake fiance because she has to attend a wedding where her cheating ex will be the best man. Lucy has met Jay her boss, who fired her and her opinions about him aren't very high either. Jay is also in a desperate need to get a fake girlfriend in order to snag a buisness deal. So despite them being essentially enemies, they decide to form a mutually beneficial agreement. Well, it was difficult for me to get into the book. Because in the first 7% of the book, some characters were randomly introduced and it was hard for me to keep track of them. There was so much unnecessary detail that I got bored. Though there was some Indian rep because Jay was obviously East Indian. I also liked the sass Jay and Lucy threw at each other but I failed to connect with them because of the writing style. There is some misunderstanding between Lucy & Jay but this book goes throughout the way to make them realise their wrong interpretations. There is a contrast portrayed in both of their background which I liked. This book wasn't a page turner but the plot and blurb had potential. I feel like if there wasn't so much going on in the first frew pages, this book would've been a four star read for me.

This one definitely had a slow start I had a little trouble in the beginning staying involved. It did pick up speed towards the middle and by the end I was very invested. There is also a little back-and-forth which I did find annoying in the first part, but again it improved as the story went on. Once it started to pick up it was very easy and quick to read. Perfect if you like enemies to more and fake dating tropes. I received a complimentary copy of this book and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book is so cute, we have fake dating, sunshine x grump and a double pov.
The insane amount of chemistry these characters have between eachother is amazing.
It's a fun, easy, lightweight read and I loved it.
The characters are likeable and well written and the storyline keeps you hooked.

I really enjoyed the characters in this novel, but I had some issues with the timeline, pacing, and also some of the descriptions. Overall, I enjoyed the plot and the dynamic between the love interests saved this from being a 2 star read for me.

Thanks to NetGalley for my digital ARC.

More than the book, the author’s note at the end of this story moved me. “If he wasn’t a successful actor, he’d be a failed actor.” At least she’s an author, and that’s more than many of us can say. She put herself out there, and that’s the first big step, isn’t it?

First, what I liked: I loved the MMC was Indian American and the subtle nods to the culture (although it would have been nice to have a bit more). I appreciated that although this character was a billionaire, the majority of the story he was stripped down to just himself before wealth, which made it all seem more genuine. I liked the misunderstanding that started the whole thing, and thought it was plausible. I didn’t particularly like how meager the FMC was, but I appreciated her finally standing up for herself and finding her worth.

What I didn’t like: the story felt very clunky and lacked smooth transitions (character flow, describing surroundings, change in surroundings, etc.); There were details that changed each time they were brought up (clothing color, bed size, months vs. weeks passing); and especially at the beginning there was way too much going on in the plot. I don’t think the prologue was necessary (their meet cute could have been the office scene!), and I didn’t particularly care for the alternate swear words (darn, jerkhole, heck, etc.). I think if the story had been stripped down a bit and then rebuilt, it would have been a five-star read.

Thanks to NetGalley for an opportunity to read and review this ARC.

Lucy & Jay
This story hooked me from the first chapter, it was incredibly witty and hilarious. I loved Lucy's character she was just a normal cl,umsyish chick that really needed life to go the right way for her! I was sold on Jay pretty quickly too with his good looks and charming attitude ;)
I got lost somewhere in the middle of the story though and found myself skimming quite a bit, I would've preferred this story only from Lucy's POV. Maybe some chapters at the end from Jay would have been ok but his chapters just didn't do anything for me unfortunately.

Would i read another story from this author, yes!

Thank you for the copy to review!

This was a quick and easy read, with lots of confident description. However, the plot just didn’t make sense at some points and some details seemed off to me. I wasn’t sure about the timeline - it got confusing at points! She had broken up with her fiancée six weeks ago but it seemed longer… And she’d caught him cheating, but it had been one of her friends that he left her for apparently? It didn’t add up for me!

Lucy is coming off of a breakup with her fiance and ends up fired from her job too. The worst part is that the man doing the firing is the extremely good looking CEO, Jay. In a weird turn of events, they end up being each other's fake date to Lucy's sister's wedding in Hawaii, where the best man is none other than Lucy's ex-fiance. They each have their reasons for needing a date - Lucy doesn't want to feel like a lone loser and Jay needs to appear like he's settling down to keep advancing in his career. Could these "enemies" be what the other is looking for in a partner all along?

I did think Lucy and Jay's relationship was cute, but the story was a little rocky. I was left confused sometimes at details or when things weren't flowing well. I think they had great chemistry and I really enjoyed the last few chapters. I'm a sucker for a HEA.

Thank you to Meg Herga, Victory Editing, and NetGalley for the eARC of The Billionaire’s Proposal.

Lucy seems to not be able to catch a break, first she gets fired after she tells off her boss by accident meaning she can’t afford the plane ticket to her sister's destination wedding. Then when she thinks it can't get worse she finds out that her cheating ex-boyfriend will not only be at her sister’s wedding but that he is the best man. What is a girl to do in this situation, you know other than get a fake fiancé to be her wedding date. And if that fake fiancé happens to be Jay, the boss who fired her.

This book was very hard for me to get through, I love a good enemies-to-lovers turn fake relationship most of the time. This one was hard for me because I felt like they were falling in love but when they were interacting I felt like what they were saying and thinking wasn't conducive to actually falling in love. There was good character development that in the end made them more realistic. Overall I would most likely not read this book again.

In the Billionare's Proposal - You have a girl fighting for what she believes in and standing her ground and a selfish guy who just wants to be rude and get on with his day.
Lucy is struggling to pay for an upcoming trip to Hawaii and Jay is her billionaire boss who does not want to stay in his real estate career. They run into each other for the first time and their worlds are turned upside down.

I liked this book. I thought the story was really cute but it was predictable. I loved how they used an Indian man as the male lead. I wish the introductions to the characters were more detailed. I could only partly visualize them.
This book made me think of The Hating Game by Sally Thorne which I really enjoyed.

A little hard to get into, however it was fun and interesting. I did find the ending of the story to be rushed though!

This wasn't my favourite enemies to lovers ever. Jay was a bit too much of a jerk to start with. Lucy is a mess but in a funny way. Definitely grab it if you like enemies or grumpy male main characters.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

DNF at 80%.

First of all, this book is written in first person. I'm pretty snobby when it comes to that and it's something I find really difficult to get into if it isn't impeccably written. Saying that, this wasn't the worst attempt and wasn't enough to put me off the book.
What did stop me reading was the amount of contradictions in this story. For two people pretending to be romantically involved, they did a really poor job of keeping their stories straight. And no one noticed! They gave people one story then a few pages later gave a different story and none of these people even noticed! It was as if even the writer couldn't keep track of the different yarn she was spinning and it just got too much to bear.
I enjoyed the writing and the premise of this book but it just wasn't as well executed as it could have been, unfortunately.

I loved this book - a perfect enemies to lovers romance between 2 main characters, Lucy and Jay, who I adored.

A great plot, with great chemistry - thoroughly enjoyable!

📖 The premise: Lucy is an art history major currently working as an assistant property manager. Jay is the billionaire heir to a real estate empire. They couldn’t be more different, but their interests align when Lucy needs a date to her sister’s wedding that will make her ex-fiancé hopelessly jealous and Jay needs a fiancée to project an aura of stability so he can close a major real estate deal and exit the business altogether. Cue fake dating in Hawaii.

📖 There’s a lot to like here. I love a good fake engagement and a one-bed trope. Lucy is very fun. Jay is a good guy. This author obviously understands the tropes and the genre, and the plot is laser-focused on the ups and downs of the romance. The world of the novel also includes queer people, which I always appreciate, and plenty of couples I’d love to see more of in additional books.

📖 There are also some little rubs that feel like the story didn’t spend long enough in the oven. Like, timelines don’t make sense (her sister gets engaged and schedules a destination wedding in Hawaii for the following month?). Cliché lines appear here and there. The money stuff just doesn’t feel internally consistent, which took me out of the story because economic privilege is so important to the plot. Jay is Indian and only immigrated as an adult, but nods to his background and heritage didn’t feel totally thought-out. I wanted more billionaire bling if Jay is supposed to be fabulously wealthy instead of merely rich, but we don’t get so much as a description of Lucy’s engagement ring. Lucy’s career stuff doesn’t really make sense. And there’s a superficiality to the characters, like they have the details asked for on a worksheet but not rich inner lives and histories. It just didn’t quite feel ready.

📚 If you’re looking for a quick contemporary read that really focuses on the relationship with little in the way of plot detours, this might be a good pick. I look forward to Meg’s next book.

1.5 Stars I started reading this ARC copy from NetGalley because of the cute cartoon cover (not the version on Goodreads, sadly), and the description sounded right up my alley. Cute, enemies-to-lovers rom com, which is what it is, but something about this book didn’t do it for me. I love enemies-to-lovers, but mostly because of the witty banter between the two main characters, but The Billionaire’s Proposal was missing that. Lucy and Jay just didn’t like each other very much, even though they were attracted to one another. I kept trying, but this book couldn’t keep me interested enough. I hope it’s someone else’s cup of tea.

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read an ARC of "The Billionaire's Proposal, written by Meg Herga.

Overall, I rated this novel a 3.5/5 stars!

This novel centers on Lucy and Jay. Jay is Lucy's boss. He is of Indian descent, and he is also a billionaire. When Lucy is fired from her job and simultaneously finds out that her low-life of an ex is standing up as the best man at her sister's wedding, she decides to one=up him and announce that she is engaged - but now she needs to set off and find a fake fiance' for the Hawaiian adventure.

Her choice ultimately ends up being her ex-boss, Jay - the two of them strike up a deal - Jay will attend as her fake fiance' to the wedding as long as she helps him out with a real-estate endeavor. Tough decisions are made, and everyone may or may not come out unscathed in the end.

This book was a little hard to get into at first, but I’m glad I kept reading. I ended up really enjoying this book. I loved that it was told from dual pov, and I thought that Jay and Lucy were cute together. It was a quick and easy read!
