I am new to this author but the blurb sounding really good. It was good but not the great mystery the blurb depicted. I thought the characters and the plot were interesting. The twist & turn kept me engaged and waiting to see what would happen next. All in all, a good way to spend a few evenings.
This is the second book that I have read by author, Jennifer Youngblood. The first was in a different series. I read To Steal a Heart as a stand alone although it is part of a series. I was easily able to track the characters and the story and did not feel like I was missing any background information.
Arden is a Chasing, a big name in Southern Carolina and New York's Hamptons. She is a New York Time's Best Selling author. She is using her best friend's love story as the basis of her next book and has gone to the site of the story to immerse herself in the culture of the town.
I struggled to read the first portion of the book because it was so idyllic and there was no indication of the problem to come in the story line. Once the author unveiled the story, it was much more difficult to put the story down. The author even managed to keep the plot twist hidden, despite a few clues, until right before the big reveal. This is highly unusual for me to take so long to figure out a plot twist! And Arden's cantankerous grandmother is probably my favorite character of the whole story.
This is an enjoyable read and I'd love to read Olivia's story (I hope it's written in another series or in the plans). I'd also enjoy reading Talon and Forge's story and I assume that Charlie will be soon to follow!
Arden Chasing wishes that she didn't come from a wealthy well known family as no man wants her for who she is. She thought that her latest boyfriend was the real deal until she found out that he was only with her because of her family. She isn't ready to rush into another relationship. But that changes when she meets Crew at a dance class he seems to be different. So when they meet up again by chance things seem to go well. Can she tell him the truth about who she is or is she too scared of what he will say? She has fallen in love with him but he betrays her and all she can think about is making him pay. She has learnt alot about tge man that used her she knows that his real name is Garrett and that he is thief that used her. Garrett had no choice but to lie to Arden about who he really is and he knows that she might never forgive. Can he convince her that he loves her & that he can be the man that she needs?
Will Arden wait for him or is it too late for them?
Great characters especially the grandmother. Arden & Crew/ Garrett make a good couple.
Thank you Netgalley & the publisher for the copy. This is my voluntary review.
