The book showed some of the pain men suffered from disabilities received during the war. It also showed how their personalities changed because of their limitation from the injuries they received. After her husband’s death and a period of mourning, Adriana tries to move on. The story is easy to read and to follow the storyline. Sidney married the love of his life and had agreed to certain stipulations made by Adriana. I love that she discovered she no longer wanted barriers and how she went about overcoming them. The story is well written and emtertaining. There is a HEA but things have changed a great deal.

I did like the character of Sidney Wolf, Earl of Middlethorpe, he had been a courageous soldier and now at home he was a kind and caring man. I know Adriana had experienced a difficult two years with her late husband but I found I just couldn’t take to her. I found her to be quite selfish in her attitude and actions. Having said this, I did enjoy the story. There is much about her first husband, Adriana is ignorant about. Sidney has always loved Adriana and I really felt for him, especially at certain times. Overall this was an engaging read.
In the small house that she had lived in with her husband. She said goodbye. They were married just before he left for war, and he had brought it for them. It was small but perfect for the two of them.
Seeing the tub brought back awful memories of his resistance to anyone seeing his legs. He had been thrown off his horse and the horse had fallen on his legs. He could not walk anymore. He only got worse. After two years he died, and she is alone again. She went to Lady Dove-Lyon, she needed help to find a husband
Sidney Reddington Wolf, the newest and sixth Earl of Middlethorpe was a friend of Lady Benton and her husband, Paul. When he heard that Paul died, he came right away to London. He had been in love with her for a long time.
I thought they were very kind and loved each other. They had been best of friends during their childhood, It was engaging and entertaining. It kept your attention, and you could not put the book down. I highly recommend this for a spicy and hot read.

Adriana is a widow on the hunt for a man to take care of her socially and financially but who will not expect her to be intimate with him. She enlists the help of the infamous Mrs. Bessie Dove-Lyon to help her complete this impossible task. Little does Adriana know that her old friend, Sidney Reddinton Wolf, the sixth Earl of Middlethorpe, very much wants to be her husband and that he is willing take on the contract from Mrs. Dove-Lyon. He knows he loves Adriana but she believes that she can never love again. Their relationship will take many twists and turns along the path to their happily ever after.
Adriana is depressed following the death of her husband. Her need to protect herself in society makes perfect sense even if her method does not always make sense. I like that she realizes pretty quickly that she genuinely likes Sidney even if she does fight her growing attraction. She is smart and is willing to discuss her thoughts with Sidney as her feelings change. Yes, she has moments when she holds back but then she works her way through that reluctance. Sidney is all in right from the get-go. I was impressed that he was willing to be patient with Adriana and allow her to come to him as her feelings grew. Overall, they are a pretty good couple.
I don't totally understand how long Adriana was with her husband, Paul. It seems like they married and he went into the military very quickly afterward. The author includes a couple of comments in the story that make it sound like they were together for a long time. I just don't know.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story. It's a little love, a bit of angst, a touch of getting to know each other, and then a happily ever after. This is a Regency romance set in London and the countryside. If you want to read a nice love story with a strong female character, give this a try. I will read more from this author in the future.
Adriana, Lady Benton a widow who is looking to marry again but wants a marriage of convenience. Appealing to Mrs. Dove-Lyon, Adriana hopes to attract one man who may appreciate her assets. Colonel Sidney Wolf, once hailed as the ruthless 'Hound of the Horse Guards', vows to end Adriana’s hardships. He’s home from the wars and faces the daunting task of filling his father’s role as the Earl of Middlethorpe. Believing only Adriana will do as his helpmate, he strikes a deal with Dove-Lyon that brings him the one woman he admires. The one woman he tells himself he can live with and never touch.
A well written quick read. I loved Sidney who’d loved Adriana since they were children but lost her to his best friend Paul. I also liked Adriana but did find her to be a bit self centred, understandable in some ways. The more I read the more I disliked Paul, Adriana’s first husband. I thoroughly enjoyed their journey to a HEA & read it in a sitting
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
This is such a fun series and great for introducing readers to authors they may have never read before (or only in other anthologies). I will say this is least in keeping with the usual Dove-Lyon MO because there was less about the wager and jumps right to the marriage (not a criticism, just an observation). I understood Adriana's reasons for being reluctant to give up her heart again after the emotional abuse she suffered with Paul. That being said, I was glad that Sidney didn't push her to move forward and was instead there for her when she was ready. I do wish that he had talked to her more about his feelings for her when they were younger because that's something we knew as readers but was never explicitly told to Adriana. I also was not on board with Adriana getting mad at Sidney over the sale of her former home. She jumped to him being controlling a little too quickly especially after how understanding and patient he had been with her up to that point. Overall, this was a really sweet love story about overcoming past hurts in order to take advantage of a second chance at love.
The Lyons share by Cerise Deland
Adriana Lady Benton has endured a tragic life and is now recently widowed. Having been abused by her husband who had been badly disabled in battle. She is now looking for a financially secure future having lived in recent years in abject poverty and a husband in name only and has approached Mrs Dove-Lyon to arrange such a match. On returning from war and hearing of her recent widowhood Colonel Sidney Wolf having loved Adriana since childhood but his friend beat him in offering for Adriana in marriage. He agrees to marry Adriana on her terms.
An interesting tale to see where the marriage will lead. As the couple renew their friendship and Adriana starts to review her feelings going forward in their relationship.
A light read but Adriana could be annoying at times in this story. 3.5/5
Mrs. Dove-Lyon has made another match through her match making service in The Lyon's Share, although the match does not take place at the most notorious gambling den in London, The Lyon's Den and Mrs. Dove-Lyon makes a short appearance in this enjoyable read. Adriana, Lady Benton is looking for security and friendship in her next marriage and Mrs. Dove-Lyon is the one to see. Colonel Sidney Wolf is home from the war and realizes the the one woman he has loved for years has ask Mrs. Dove-Lyon help in securing her a husband. Hopefully Sidney will be able to come to an agreement with Mrs. Dove-Lyon to secure Adriana's hand in marriage.
Cerise DeLand has given readers a book that is well-written, filled it with great cast of characters that come off the pages and pull you into this emotional ride that keeps you involved until the very end, sizzling passion, drama, easy flowing dialogue that brings this story together perfectly.
Such a sweet story. I really really loved Sidney. You could not ask for a more perfect man. Unrequited love, can we just sigh. I felt that Adriana was a lot harder to truly get to know her. Again, Sidney, ahhhhh! I really enjoyed this really nice story.
⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
The Lyon’s Share is an easy-to-read, engaging romance. If you want a quick angsty read, this book is for you. Adriana has endured a tragic, horrendous marriage and now is a poor, lonely widow that vows to never be passionate with a man ever again. She seeks a husband in name only to support her financially and platonically. Sidney has loved Adriana from afar since they were teenagers. Finding Adriana widowed after he returns from war, Sidney vows to make her his wife, even if he can never have anything but friendship.
Sidney’s character is tragic at times, having to compete with a dead man who, at the end of his life, treated Adriana horribly. He gets Adriana in marriage yet cannot display his passionate emotions and sensual desires. I had trouble warming to Adriana. I felt she acted selfishly and used Sidney’s infatuation for her gain. She then gets angry towards the end; I never fully understood why. The unrequited love had me feeling sorry for Sidney. The plot got too sentimental at times. However, I enjoyed the ending. Sidney and Adriana have an excellent happily-ever-after.
The Lyon’s Share is part of The Lyon’s Den series. I liked this book; I felt Adriana could have been more likable. This was a short, easy, entertaining read that flowed well with the other books in this series.

5 stars
Sidney is a lovely hero. He's loved Arianna forever. Originally he, Arianna and Paul had been friends of neighbouring estates. Paul seduces Arianna and Sidney tells him he should marry her or sidney would do so. Paul and Sidney are cavalry offices and at the batte of Vittoria, Paul looses his legs and is invalided out. Arianna then has to look after him. There's a good description of her emotions dealing with a profoundly disabled man who has lost self esteem, is bitter and takes it out on her. Once widowed Arianna is keen to take back control of her life so goes to see Mrs Dove-Lyon to see if she can arrange a mrriage of convenience. Sidney sees this chance and takes it.
Lovely story, well worth the read.

Winning His Forever Love!
Colonel Sidney Wolf now the Earl of Middlethorpe had always loved Adriana. When his best friend Paul found out when they were younger, he seduced her and married her. Knowing Paul had passed away, he found out she was now in the market for a husband and had approached Mrs Dove-Lyon to find her a suitable husband with specific requirements.
Having obtained Adriana’s marker and approached her, they married. They already had a lovely relationship and were friends from long ago but Sidney was finding it harder than he thought to resist her and not break the rules of their bargain. Meanwhile Adriana had started to notice her husband and was having steamy thoughts about him.
Approaching him with her change of heart for a more intimate relationship, he tried to resist her but because he loved her so much and she was his soul mate he couldn’t stop himself and they fell into a mad passionate, steamy relationship.
He had waited such a long time for her and was frightened of losing her but when you really love someone with all your heart, it was always meant to happen.
This is the first I have read from this series and I really enjoyed this story. It touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes when they finally got their HEA.

This was my first book from the Lyon's Den series and I enjoyed this short, steamy read. I liked Sidney because he was single-minded in his pursuit of Adriana. And I admired Adriana being forthright about her desires and not holding back.
However, I couldn't help but question the logic behind the Adriana's deal. Adriana making a deal to marry without love or physical benefits, at a period in time where women hardly had any autonomy didn't make any sense to me. Also, I simply did not understand the angst part of it. To me it seemed like a contrived reason to carry the story forward. I couldn't also find a consistency in Adriana's personality.
Despite my not finding logic at many points, I found myself rooting for Sidney and Adriana.
Overall, I believe this book has potential but needs a lot of polishing and fine-tuning. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing a digital copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
I did like the characters in this story but there was little involvement with the Lyon's Den world. Sidney had been in love with Adriana all his life so when she became a widow he wanted to marry her but wasn't sure she would agree so he used the matchmaking Lyons den to marry first and court after. Very quickly it worked and she fall in love with him and a happy ending is reached. Adriana dealing with the feelings left from dealing with an abusive disabled husband is where the angst comes from in this story. I prefer other Lyons Den books where the den is much more involved. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
This is a fast-paced book that I could not put down. The only thing that would make this book better would be to make it a bit longer. Otherwise, a great read that I would absolutely recommend to anyone who likes a good romance story.
An impoverished widow, Adriana, goes to The Lyons Den to be matched to a new husband who will provide for her. Her husband’s best friend, Sidney, learns about her quest and makes sure he is the one chosen. Having loved her since she was a teen, Sidney wants to take care of her and he hopes she can come to love her as well. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.
This was a short, but very complete story of love, passion, and forgiveness. Adriana was troubled past verbal abuse and Sidney just wanted to the man she could trust. The Lyon's Den books are always a great read.
This author is new to me and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the book. I plan to che k out more of her work.
