Such a fascinating story! Was very keen in the way it progressed. Wish the ending gave a little more, but overall it was satisfying. Love femme fatales!
*Thank you to the Publisher, the author and Netgalley for providing me with an E-ARC of " How I'll Kill You" in exchange for an honest review *
This was a unique premise. I liked reading it, and I feel like it was really thrilling.
AMAZING. Seriously.
At first, this story of identical triplets living an…unusual lifestyle moved kind of slowly for me. I was confused as to WHY they were doing what they were doing, and having a hard time connecting with any of them. Let me back up.
Identical triplets Sissy, Moody, and Iris have not had the easiest life. They were abandoned as babies and grew up separately (but never far from each other) in foster care. Their traumatic upbringing has left them with some…urges that they satisfy by making men fall in love and then killing them before the relationship has a chance to sour.
Romantic, right?
Well, Sissy has never had her chance and now it’s her turn. Though she can dismember a body and hide crime scene evidence like a champ, she’s less adept at the whole murder thing. But rules are rules and Sissy would do anything for her sisters, so she finds her mark. Enter Edison. Beautiful, broken, complicated Edison. Sissy falls hard and fast and soon starts to question everything, including her previously unshakable devotion to her sisters.
Though I initially had a hard time connecting with Sissy, she eventually won me over. There’s a point not too far into the story where everything started to click for me and I genuinely started feeling bad for these women, despite how awful their actions were. The ending seemed a tad rushed and everything wrapped up *slightly* too tidily for me, but this was still a 5 star read. Cannot wait for the author’s next book!
Absolutely loved this book. The premise sold me from the start, and it delivered exactly what I hoped it would. There's definitely a huge focus on the romance compared to other thrillers, but I really enjoyed that aspect.
The plot of this book was so darn interesting. I love stuff with twins or triplets so this was right up my alley. I had a hard time connecting with the characters. I really needed to understand their motivation for killing from the beginning, because I just didn't get it for the first half of the book. The romance was tepid for me and I was not into that aspect. I wish I could have gotten more into this one.
Fast-paced and fun - this is an easy next read for fans Oyinkan Braithwaite. A recommended purchase for collections where thrillers are popular.
Co-dependence takes on a new meaning in this story of triplets who have made a pact to help each other kill. Victims are carefully chosen and the kills are carefully planned. When one of the sisters falls in love with her mark, things go terribly wrong, leaving her looking for redemption. Interesting premise, well written.
How I'll Kill You is my first book by author Ren DeStefano. I was really looking forward to this book, based on the synopsis and talk I had heard of it from some of my blogging buddies. However I just couldn't connect with the story or characters. I ended up putting it down before I even made it to 50%
Ooh La La, this is such a great book. A 50% thriller a 50% mystery. This book has all the elements of a great plot.
DNF @ 53%. I had such high hopes for this one! Serial killer triplets and that intriguing title? I was 100% on board. I just don't know how such a great concept could be so incredibly boring? I never got invested in Sissy, the main character, or her sisters. Their motivation for why they did the things they did seem ill-formed. The romance was super bland, as well. It was just a lot of boring, every day tasks and a lot of Sissy fantasizing about stuff. I kept holding out that it would get better for me, but when I got to the scene where the boyfriend fingers Sissy in the middle of a church service, I decided I had enough.

And with those opening lines, we were off. HOW I'LL KILL YOU was swiftly plotted, beautifully written despite the dark subject matter, and a unique character study exploring what lasting ramifications abandonment can have on a child.
Sissy is one of three triplets who were famously abandoned in 1999, all three crammed into a stroller and left for anyone to take. In and out of foster homes and group facilities, Sissy and her sisters learned from a young age both how to survive and how to take care of each other. As they roll into a desert town in Arizona, Sissy is reminded that it's time for her to advance as a cleaner of her sisters' messes into the one causing the mess. The 'family business' is for the sisters to meet a man, win his heart, and then stop it. Sissy has never claimed her own victim, but she has her eye on Edison, a widower whom she easily imagines a life of domestic bliss with.
The unthinkable happens--Sissy falls in love with her mark, and while her sisters love her, they aren't about to stand idly by and let her destroy the satisfying life they've made for themselves. There are no filler scenes; no extraneous dialogue--every single word serves a purpose, and I couldn't believe how the series of events played out.
This book doesn't do a deep dive, but it definitely brings up so many issues about childhood abandonment, attachment disorder, hints of the serial killer gene, and so much more. I am absolutely thrilled that Berkley and NetGalley gifted me an early copy of this book that I've already pre-ordered! Releases everywhere March 21, 2023.
This is soooo wildddd! This is crazy! This is best kind of WTH I just read book blowing your mind, taking your breath away, scaring the living daylights out of you!
This is the unconventional, creepy, emotional story of Identical triplets:
Iris: menacing one, Moody: unpredictable loose cannon and Sissy ( that’s not her real name): negotiator, fixer and cleaner one!
Two sister( elder by minutes) are serial lover killer and Sissy is about to join their coven by choosing her own prey and killing him like her sister told her to do! But she never hurt anyone before! When we read her POV and spend more time on her mind, we realize she’s kind of Joe Goldberg who fantasizes a good love story and a perfect murder at the same time!
The sisters have a heart wrenching story:
Those three women are only 25 years old, getting through rough patches since they have been abandoned inside a single stroller at the rest stop, wrapped in clean towels and with umbilical cords tied off with plain white shoelaces.
They never knew their real parents. They’ve been transferred to different houses, getting abused by people, experiencing the dark side of foster care system. Only thing they want to be together and protect each other! That’s why the murders started! When Iris gets emotionally abused by her elder and married lover she takes the matters her own hands and unfortunately Sissy is the one who cleans her sister’s mess just like she did for Moody!
Now she is dealing with the biggest dilemma : she has to choose between the man she falls for and sisters!
Edison is the man she planned to kill. The same man dealing with his wife’s sudden death, trying to stay sober. He has broken hearted, good guy who slowly heals with the help of Sissy.
Her sisters put more pressure on her shoulder to kill her lover as her neighbor and new friend Dara shares big secrets with her about her dysfunctional marriage and prying about what’s going on at her house!
What will Sissy do? Will she kill the first and probably her last love or will she defy against sisters? But rejecting her sister could put her own life in danger! What is their secrets come out and the victims they buried don’t stay buried anymore!
This book was so tense and fast pacing. I had doubts it could have a good ending but the author is brilliant. She wrapped up the storylines perfectly! The revelations and conclusions are logical, smart and fair. I loved it!
I cannot give less than five stars to this smart, intense, unique plot! The three sisters may look identical but their characters couldn’t be so different! Interestingly you learn to empathize with each of them even though they are one of the most disturbing human beings. ( especially Moody and Iris are) You understand their reasonings, pains and problems to live a normal and happy life!
Overall: I liked it! I advise you to read it!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for sharing this amazing digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.
Sissy and her sisters kill their boyfriends. That’s how the book starts off. The triplets find a “mark” and spend 6 months making him fall in love…and then they kill him. But Sissy falls in love with her latest mark…and all hell breaks loose!
This was a great book! I loved it and the writing was beautiful. It was odd at first to read a woman character and the descriptions of death so violent. It was very fast-paced and I read it not wanting the story to end. I loved the ending and really think it worked and stayed true to the characters.
I’d definitely recommend this one! Thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Problems with your sisters? You’ve got nothing on Sissy – her sisters are serial killers. While she doesn’t kill anyone, she does help conceal the crimes and her sisters’ involvement by cleaning up the crime scenes. But now, her sisters insist she take her place amongst their ranks and Sissy picks Edison to be her “first”. Using her sisters’ methods, she will make him fall in love with her, then kill him. Then the unexpected happens, and Sissy finds herself falling in love with Edison and the last thing she wants to do is kill him. That doesn’t sit well with the family, who demand that Sissy makes her kill. A uniquely quirky spin on the serial killer trope
