This was my first time reading an arc, and I absolutely loved this!

I adore graphic novels and I’ve been looking for more queer ones lately. So when I found this I was immediately in love.

Everything about this is amazing to me, the artwork is beautiful, the story is unique and the characters are so funny and the representation in this is so well done👌🏼

This book is perfect to read as we’re getting closer to autumn and halloween!
So if you like cute halloween graphic novels with a dash of LGBTQ+ then I recommend this book a million times!

Thank you to NetGalley and the authors for providing me with this arc.

This was a fun adventure based in the town of Sleepy Hollow, where the famous legend takes place. New to town Izzy Crane depends on science and proof to explain the world around her-- and then she comes face to face with the Headless Horseman himself. This story of adventure, mystery, friendship, and romance came together nicely and provided an interesting twist to the classic legend. I especially liked the journey of Vicky Van Tassel, who is trying to figure out how to be herself and not just who her last name forces her to be.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ability to read this graphic novel in exchange for an honest review!

Such a fun book, I loved the graphics and the characters especially izzy and Vicky! its the perfect spooky read in time for spooky season. It gave me Scooby doo vibes and me being a big big fan of Scooby doo absolutely ate this up! I hope there will be another book with the same characters and see if they go on another adventure! I loved the queerness within the book, I especially loved seeing izzy and Vicky ending up together even though I knew It would happen anyways. This book was super fast paced but the perfect book to get out of a slump, so glad I stumbled onto this book on Netgalley!

Unfortunately I did not realize this was a graphic novel, which is not my usual go to read. But in saying that, this book was not bad at all, I don't think I'm going to be picking up a lot more graphic novels but the story was good. And I see why people like them so much. Thank you to net galley and the publisher for this are in exchange for an honest review

I've recently fell in love with graphic novels and this one is a great addition for fall reads. It brings new life to the story of Sleepy Hollow and is another wonderful lgbtqia+ book. The 3 main characters were easy to love and even as 40+ adult, I could understand where they were coming from. First crushes, familial expectations and more. That makes for a good story and good writing.

Great way to kick off fall! This a fun re-telling of Sleepy Hollow with a queer modern spin graphic novel. I will say the beginning had a slow pace, but fast pace middle to end. There was some parts it was hard to follow, wish it could’ve used more panels to explain the situation. Besides that the graphics and layout are visually appealing. I loved the diversity and they were for the most part well rounded - loveable characters.

A queer modern take on a classic story. Hollow is the perfect cozy read that will give you all the autumn vibes you crave, with plenty of magic thrown in for good measure.

Cute re-telling of Sleepy Hollow in a graphic novel form. Loved it. I can't wait to share it with my students once it is published/released.
Thanks for the opportunity to read it.

A graphic novel about an unlikely trio coming together to solve a Halloween mystery, what more could you want!
A perfect start to the spooky season.

The characters are so likable and relatable. There’s so much representation which made me very happy, from main characters to people in the background.
It all comes together to form an adorable and funny read.

Since the book is quite short some things felt a little rushed, especially the relationship between Izzy and Vicky.
Other then that I don’t have any complaints.

Thanks to NetGalley and publishers for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review!

This is the perfect spooky, middle-grade read. The graphics in this were so cute and I loved the friendship between the 3 MC's. Also Izzy and Vicky's relationship was adorable. The perfect read in Autumn.

Are you looking for a short, sweet graphic novel filled with adventure and young love? Well, look no further because Hollow hits all the check marks!

Hollow is a YA graphic novel about Izzy Crane, a young girl who moves to the little town of sleepy hollow. When Izzy befriends Vicky Van Tassel and Croc Byun, the three set off to uncover the truth about the Headless Horseman.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed reading this. The pacing and overall plot of the story brought me back to my Archie comic days; it was a quick read that left me feeling nostalgic. From the very first page, I was eager to learn more about the quaint town of sleepy hollow and its endearing residents.

One of my favorite aspects of this graphic novel was the diversity in characters and the queer representation! I immediately fell in love with all the characters and the relationship between the three main protagonists.

I found myself rooting for these characters and sharing their love for one another. Throughout the story, I was rooting for them during their adventure and was excited to see them build their friendships.

Overall, this graphic novel was a quick and fun spin on the classic story and a must-read for anyone wanting an enjoyable read for the Halloween season!

I’m not a big fan of paranormal stories, so this didn’t really appeal to me in that sense. But it was a cute little story. I was very invested in the awkward lesbians trying to ask each other out. I also liked the headless horseman character. He was funny and cool.

I have one question, which has been bugging me for a while. The guy that ends up with the witch lady is in high school, right? How old is the witch lady? I assume since she has a business doing readings and stuff that she’s an adult. But maybe she’s actually high school age and it just wasn’t talked about. I forget what year in school these kids are. Maybe the guy is 18. Point is, it was a little weird to see that happen, because I couldn’t remember if it ever mentioned their exact ages anywhere.

Otherwise, it was cute, and I read it in one sitting. I probably won’t read any sequels, because it’s just not my thing. But it was cute and I think a lot of people will like it.

This book started off slow and it took sometime to get interesting but once it did wow! It was a an awesome read and i really did enjoy it. The art was beautifully made and the details are empecable. You don't really see the characters develop but plot was amazing. I recomend it to anyone with an artistic spooky side.

This was sweet! I really liked the characters' friendships, and how easily Izzy and Vicky fell for each other. While the plot bordered more on middle grade than YA, as it was pretty simple, quick, and straightforward, the lore of Sleepy Hollow felt thoroughly integrated and interesting. This is the kind of book I wish I'd have read in middle school!

4.5

Hollow follows Izzy Crane, as she and her family move to Sleepy Hollow, known for the legend of the Headless Horseman. Izzy doesn't really care about the legend, but she quickly realizes pretty much everyone in the town believes in it, at least a little bit. She quickly gets pulled into the whole story with her own paranormal experiences, especially as her crush, Vicky, is of the Van Tassels (like in the original story). When they find out that things might not be as they seem at first glance, the two of them plus Croc, their school friend have to figure out how to solve the mystery of what's happening and save Vicky from the curse that's following her family.

This was a super cute graphic novel that follows but also reimagines the original story. This is set right before Halloween, and it's perfectly atmospheric. I really liked the pacing of the story, it was mostly very even and there was just the right amount of information given at all times. It mainly deals with the storyline with the Horseman and the mystery of the curse, but I really like how it took the time to focus on Vicky and her family and the pressure she feels to keep up the family traditions. I also really loved the relationship between Izzy and Vicky, I thought they were lovely together. I very much enjoyed the friendship they develop with Croc as well. They are all interesting and distinct characters by themselves, but they worked really well as a team too. Also, Izzy's relationship with her mom was really sweet, I loved how supportive her mom was. My only slight issue was that the conflict between Izzy and Vicky sort of happens out of nowhere? I did enjoy how they communicated to solve it, I just felt it was a bit abrupt.

I really enjoyed the art style as well, I thought it was super cute and I loved how the characters were drawn. I also really loved how both Izzy and Vicky were dressed in this graphic novel. I especially loved Vicky's style, I think the switch from the costumes she wears for the Van Tassel events and her personal clothes really does well to show how she feels about the whole ordeal. And probably even more so, how much she has to pretend to upkeep the persona she presents to people. The color palette is great, it's fall- and Halloween-themed and it fits the vibe of the story perfectly.

All in all, I really enjoyed this graphic novel, and I would highly recommend it! It's a perfect fall atmospheric read, so if that's something you're interested in, look no further.

What can I say? This queer romance graphic novel set in a modern day Sleepy Hollow is an absolute delight and perfect for the spooky season. Though a retelling, this version of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is not nearly as dark as its predecessors and has a good mix of humor and warmth to go with the spookier elements. Those looking for a truly scary and close retelling should probably avoid this one. However, anyone else who is here for a good time and some light Halloween vibes should definitely check this one out!

After her mom gets a new job at a high end restaurant, Isabel “Izzy” Crane and her family make the move from San Francisco, California to the small town of Sleepy Hollow. As if adjusting to a totally different lifestyle and school weren’t enough, everyone in town seems absolutely obsessed with the legend of the Headless Horsemen. Academically minded Izzy has little time for town legend and superstition, but finds herself drawn in after meeting the beautiful local celebrity Vicky Van Tassel. Vicky wants nothing more than to escape her family legacy but even as she tries to forge her own path, evil forces are conspiring against her. When it becomes clear Vicky’s life is in danger, she teams up with Izzy and fellow classmate Croc Byun to solve the mystery of who, or what, is targeting her. With Halloween fast approaching, their time to put an end to the threat is short. Thankfully, an unexpected ally is here to help.

I absolutely adored the characters in this book! Though it seems like each character will fall into old tropes at the beginning, that is definitely not the case. Izzy is very intelligent, but she is also warm and very in touch with the people around her. Croc is a jock and prankster, but he is not mean spirited and is willing to take whatever he dishes out. More importantly, he is supportive of both Izzy and Vicky throughout the story and he truly contributes to the group. Though a town celebrity, Vicky is not at all snobby and is trying to discover her identity in her own way. She doesn’t fully reject her family and history, she just doesn’t want to be defined by it. All of these things make the characters feel real and lovable. Izzy and Vicky’s blossoming relationship is just the icing on the cake. Not only is it adorable, it is also made to feel completely natural. The fact that they are both young women is not brought up at all over the course of the story and they are allowed to simply experience falling in love. For me, this was probably the best part.

Though I loved the characters and was completely invested in what happened to them, the overall plot itself was very straightforward. Frankly, I liked that for this piece. However, I know some might find it a little too ‘on the nose’. There are plenty of clever references to the original legend throughout the story, but I think some of it will be missed if you are unfamiliar with the source material. For example, Vicky makes a big deal of Izzy’s last name (Crane) but the book never explains its significance to the legend. It also never ties Izzy to Sleepy Hollow’s past which seems like a missed opportunity. People who are unfamiliar with the legend won’t have any trouble following this story, but certain parts will have less impact. This along with a few minor inconsistencies in the art style are the only reasons this didn’t get top marks from me.

This was a great graphic novel and fun story. The close ups of the faces are just beautiful, the colours vibrant and I love the way you can pick up the body language. The story starts a bit slow but when it picks up it really held my attention. It's a fresh take on an old story with a cute focus on friendship with fun banter and a budding queer romance.

I can't think of anything I would change and I'll definitely read the follow up and pick up a copy to keep at home for the kids to read this Halloween.

This was so cute! I love the variety of representation featured. The art was well done and the story was entertaining. Pacing was a little weird and everything wrapped up more neatly than I was anticipating. But I will definitely recommend this one!

I loved this one! It's a fun graphic novel with some scary elements but not too much.

Having a butch/masc protagonist made me so happy because she's never questioned and is accepted and above all the art doesn't make compromise with how she's drawn. Izzy is masculine and owns it. This made for a wonderful butch/femme relationship and I just want more of that.

For once I was not disappointed by the plot of a graphic novel. Most of them ends up being too short but this one had enough time to build a plot.

Overall this was reminiscent of those supernatural teen shows of the 2010's but sapphic. Think Teen Wolf, The Vampire Diaries etc
