Getting to know Katie and Scott was a real pleasure. The outback settings are divine and describe it perfectly. A short outback romance that was thoroughly enjoyable. I really hope that there is a sequel because I would love to hear how Katie and Scott end up. As it left on a bit of a cliffhanger.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Katie and Scott. Katie is a nurse from England who has just moved to Australia and Scott is going back to his hometown in Australia. Katie breaks down on the road and Scott comes by and rescues her. There is an immediate attraction. Scott and Katie see each other every day. Scott has a job in England after the new year. They have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.

Katie has travelled from icy cold England to extremely hot Australia to take up a nursing position at a remote bush hospital in Coorah Creek. Just out of town her car breaks down and with high temperatures, and little water, Kate is in a precarious situation. Queue a handsome stranger to the rescue. Scott Collins is returning to Coorah Creek after running away in his late teens. He is not sure of his reception but he wants to make amends to those he upset, especially his father

He tows Kate to the garage and drops her off at the hospital. It doesn’t take Kate long to realise she may have bitten off more than she could chew. Suffering from burn out in a extremely busy London hospital she’s not sure she can cope with the isolation and violent airsickness when she flies to patients.

Very quickly Scott and Katie are attracted to each other but life seems to be pulling them in different directions and the likelihood for them to be together grows increasingly unlikely. But Christmas is coming and the tiny community pull together for a magical celebration where wishes for second chances and and hope for the future really do come true.

A perfect Christmas story

Christmas at Coorah Creek might be short—perfect for an afternoon read—but author Janet Gover has crafted a heartwarming story filled with beautifully crafted characters. The plot is simple, yet well developed. English nurse Katie Brooks is very much a fish out of water in outback Coorah Creek, yet it is here that she discovers inner strength she didn’t know she had. For Scott Collins, back home after storming out of his father’s life eight years early, it’s all about fixing past wrongs. Finding love is the icing on the cake for these two. This is a gentle Christmas story filled with hope and I loved it.

English nurse Katie Brooks was frustrated when her "new" holden commodore blew up on the isolated outback track as she made her way to Coorah Creek. The straight road hadn't seen any traffic in hours and Katie wasn't sure if she'd be rescued any time soon. But when Scott Collins pulled up beside her, she was very grateful to see him.

Katie couldn't believe how isolated the town was, and how quiet. She was so used to the London noise of traffic, people, planes - she didn't think she'd ever get used to the blackness of night, the brightness of the stars and the aloneness. But the people of Coorah Creek were friendly and with Christmas almost on them, she wouldn't miss her family back home too much, would she? And as her feelings for Scott grew, she was conflicted - he was leaving after Christmas and she was staying...

Christmas at Coorah Creek is the 3rd in the Coorah Creek series by Aussie author Janet Gover and I enjoyed it very much. I loved the 1st but haven't read the 2nd (didn't realise this was #3) so I'll rectify that soon. Coorah Creek is a typical small country town - fictional - set in rural Queensland where everyone knows everyone's business and helping each other out is just the way it's done. Katie and Scott are great characters - I'm hoping there'll be more of their story in an upcoming book. Highly recommended.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

This is a short story set in a remote Aussie town at Christmas time, and I believe it’s a rerelease as part of this year’s Christmassy rural romance collection, Beneath a Christmas Sky (from Harper Collins/Harlequin). I really thought this was a sweet read. Being a short story there isn’t a lot of time to get to know the characters, but I still felt invested in their stories. The setting, both in terms of the actual physical town and the people we meet from the community, felt really well developed, and I was unsurprised to see that Katie and Scott’s story isn’t the first time that Gover has written about Coorah Creek – her earlier novel Flight to Coorah Creek is also set there, as well as several others she has written, which is excellent news, as I’d love to spend some more time there!

Overall this one was really enjoyable and I’d recommend to anyone looking for a short, sweet, festive read with lots of heart.
