Only a Fling by Delancey Stewart is a delightful blend of spice, wit, and small-town charm in an enemies-to-lovers romance that’s sure to please fans of the trope. When Will Cruz, a former fighter pilot and city-dwelling condo builder, arrives in Kasper Ridge to renovate the local resort, he’s met with resistance from our fiercely independent heroine, who’s determined to keep her heart—and her job—intact. Their chemistry is undeniable, though, and one stolen kiss sends all of her defenses crumbling. Stewart weaves in humor, tension, and a hint of vulnerability as they navigate this “only a fling” arrangement in a close-knit town where everyone’s watching. If you enjoy strong heroines, military heroes, and steamy workplace romance with a side of scenic mountain life, this one’s a must-read!
I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.
3.75 stars. Thank you to Netgalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the E-ARC. I enjoyed the story of Will and Lucy. Even though at times Lucy was a bit annoying I got over it this was such a easy and breezy read. Cant wait to read the rest of the series.
I loved the humor and heart throughout Only A Fling! I found myself smiling while reading.
I voluntarily reviewed this book.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Lucy and Will. There is an instant attraction when they meet. They are working together on renovations of Kasper Ridge Resort. They each have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.
Lucy's new boss is an ex fighter pilot who knows nothing about construction, which is why he hired Lucy, who is there to oversee the project. But when rock hard abs and blue high in her face, will she be able to resist? Or will she sleep with her boss and makes things complicated?
This book was the average run of the mill romance, with nothing unexpecting happening, it was enjoyable but unfortunately nothing memorable in the storyline. I might give the second one in the series a go, but if you read this novel, be sure to know this is not going to be life changing literature.
I didn't like the miscommunication and found Lucy quite annoying. Could not finish reading, DNFed pretty late in the story.
This is a new to me author and I have to say I am looking forward to reading more by this author! I loved this book
My new boss is a former fighter pilot -- and it should be illegal to be that hot. But this city-boy condo builder doesn't know the first thing about construction in a place like Kasper Ridge.
Will hired me to oversee the renovation at the old Kasper Ridge Resort - a job that will make my company and guarantee that Papa can live comfortably to a very old age. I just need to keep my eyes on the prize.
And the prize is not Will Cruz's ocean blue eyes or those rock-hard abs. Besides, all those muscles and that killer smile are temporary. I've lived in the mountains long enough to know that slick city boys don't stick around for the long run.
So I tell myself the things I need to hear to stay strong, hold firm, maintain my distance.
Until Will kisses me one night and I forget pretty much everything I'd been telling myself about protecting my heart.
I know it's only a fling, but what if there's a chance Will Cruz is the one? What if I give him my heart, and he doesn't stay?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was my first book by Delancey Stewart and I really enjoyed it! I thought Will and Lucy were great characters, and the treasure hunt will have me going back for book 2! I think the heartbreak to make up could have been slowed down, it felt like it all happened in a rush at the end and it lost something there.
Another great read from this author. I love the characters and stories and look forward to more. These make for a great binge over a weekend while you are relaxing or maybe sitting on a beach or by the fire. Make sure you grab these to read.
Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book for an honest review.
Love this series. Will and Lucy are perfect and the on-going mystery of Marvin's treasure hunt will keep me I intrigued. On to the next one!!
I loved the cosy small town vibes of Kasper Ridge, and I thought the treasure hunt element to the resort renovation added an extra bit of interest so that it wasn’t all romance. The side characters were well developed so that they weren’t only there to push the main narrative, but they had their own lives going on (and I’m excited to read the next book since it’s about more of the Kasper Ridge characters!).
I felt the romance was good, but nothing that had me dying to know what happened next. To be honest I wasn’t the biggest fan of Will - I loved that Stewart wrote him to be quite vulnerable and open, but he was almost too self-critical throughout the entire book and I didn’t feel there was all that much personal development to his character, he was just kind of there. I did love Lucy however, with how strong willed and confident she was working in a typically male-dominant industry. They had great chemistry together and despite the usual ‘third act heartbreak’ which felt a little trite and was resolved a bit too quickly for my liking, I felt they worked well together.
It was a nice light and easy read with a bit of spice, nothing exceptional but an enjoyable read nonetheless.
This was a great book. I really enjoyed reading it and a fun start to the series. If you are afan of Lucy score then you will love this book. I found myself really enjoying this story. The story-line was good. And who doesn't love a story about doing up a house and trying not to fall for the builder right? My only issue was it felt very similar to another book I had read but I still enjoyed reading it. I really loved the romance in this book it made me smile. Also great how they were convincing themselves its only a fling. We all know how that ends but it was enjoyable to follow their development. What I didn't like was some of the characters had awful nick names it put me off slightly but I soon learnt to just go with it . I didn't really connect with them but I was totally smitten on the 2 main characters I was so emotionally invested in them getting together. They were realistic and lovable. I loved how the author created some great humour. This book has a great medium pace which fitted the story. It flowed and developed well. It just didn't quite hit the 4 star rating but I gave it 3.5 stars rounded up as it was better then an average rating. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I really loved this books cover as it drew me in. I recommend reading this if you like modern romance series that are easy to follow and quick to read.
Many thanks to the author and publishing team for creating a great start to what I hope will be a great series.

Really enjoyed this heartwarming, laugh out loud fun and highly entertaining journey. An emotionally thrilling roller coaster adventure from beginning to end filled with lots of witty banter, exciting and engaging charters, heart racing twists and emotional thrills.
A nice romance with an added mystery thrown it. Had me hooked from the beginning. Cannot wait for the next book in the series
Love in the mountains. Who would guess a worldly fighter pilot would fall for the small town girl. Love and a good mystery. What more could a girl want. I look forward to the next book. This mystery is a multi story unfold. I love finding new authors that I can Binge read a few books.
This book was everything I wanted it to be. It had me turned pages without even realizing. It was so good!
Absolutely loved Lucy and Will's story!! Perfect romantic feel with some unexpected twists and turns. Brought tears to my eyes and a smile to my face. I can't wait to read more from this author and this series!
The story is told from two perspectives: Will’s and Lucy’s. Lucy is a born and bred mountain girl who lives with her grandpa and runs the family construction business. Will is an ex-fighter pilot, city slicker who’s constantly trying to prove to his domineering father that he’s a success.
Brought together by a development opportunity at Kasper Ridge, there are very few reasons why a relationship between these two should work. Lucy came across a tad unbelievable - she’s killing it in construction, managing a crew of guys without any of the expected resentment/banter/sexism - AND she can glam it up when she’s off the clock like a New York model. With Will, I felt that too much was made of how he looked - the constant rubbing from his ex-Top Gun pals made him seem lacking in some core ways, which he didn’t seem to develop through his relationship with Lucy.
You don’t have to be a genius to work out what happens in this story and, if you’re looking for a light and easy read, this is an ideal book for you. For me - and I love a good romance - things just worked out TOO perfectly. Considering the numerous references within the story about how happy ever after “couldn’t work” as this isn’t a Hallmark movie, that’s exactly what I would describe this as - the literary equivalent of a Hallmark movie.
