A wonderful book that can be read by everyone as they depict such strong stories about these incredible women.

Especially apt for March.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

There's a nice, well-rounded selection of female role models represented in this group which features a scientist, an athlete, an artist, an activist, and many, many more. The bold graphic illustrations are eye-catching, and engaging.

This would make a great addition to any school library.

*Note to publisher : this book needs to be added to the Goodreads database.

Women Who Changed the World is a fast-paced engaging series of sketches of a very diverse group of inspiring and accomplished women and girls—diverse in their time periods, fields of endeavor, and race/ethnicity. There are probably not many books that go from Susan B. Anthony to Simone Biles and Malala Yousafzai. The inclusion of contemporary figures who accomplished impressive achievements at quite young ages is notable and makes the book all the more interesting. It appears to be organized by birth year, and so is chronological in that sense, but it feels like it jumps around a bit and I wonder if it could have been organized more by field of endeavor. There could also perhaps have been an additional person profiled to fill what feels like a chronological gap between Kamala Harris and Misty Copeland. But again, it is a very effective way to introduce boys and girls to impressive figures, and will please young readers with a wide range of interests.

This book caught my attention at first glance. The time in which we live brings a definite need for a larger number of books and picture books that deal with this topic. Being a mother of two girls and a boy most certainly motivates me to try to introduce them to non-fiction books such as this and help them discover more about the past.

The selection of women that are shown throughout the pages is unquestionably diverse and offers the opportunity for children to get to know different profiles of occupations and interests. Women who fought for their freedom, women who somehow left a mark in history, women who should be more present in history books. Each depicted person is presented in an interesting way that contributes to their memorability. Targeting the younger children, the author did an amazing work by writing simple, comprehensible sentences and adding appealing illustrations that help children even more to understand the content,

Without a doubt, this is a book that will contribute a lot to the correct social and emotional development of both boys and girls. A book with interesting, caricature-style illustrations that will help you encourage your little ones to be a little more aware of the past, as well as the women who contributed so that we can live in this world today.

I liked the mix of women chosen to be in this book, there was a great variety from scientists to sports personalities and politicians. Each person chosen had their own set of characteristics that made them a worth addition - the book is really filled with inspirational women and the book is one that will show younger girls what they can aspire too.

I liked the layout and it is easy to follow, but I think it is possibly more aimed at the top range of the ages given of 3 to 5 if you are expecting the children to read along with you. My daughter was 5 in July and she was fascinated so it was a hit with her.

It is 4 stars from me, highly recommended and it has some lovely illustrations too.

Meet women who changed history. These women span cultures: American, polish, etc. also feature women of color.

Many of these names will be familiar if you paid attention in your world history class, but it’s important to highlight the women who changed history since we often highlight the men in history classes at an early age.

Portraits are in a fun cartoon style while still being recognizable.

Would recommend for your little boys and girls.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Women who Changed the World is a children's book highlighting famous women across the globe. The book is decently diverse! I would have liked to see some more emphases on Native and Asian women, but it's a good introductory list for young children! The illustrations are great, but I wished the pages themselves were a bit more colorful. Overall, a great book for libraries and classrooms!

Thanks to netgalley for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

An important book to read for all kids, especially girls. I love the emphasis on women of color. Women these days owe their freedom and privileges to these women. I didn’t know a lot about the women in this book until now. I love how the author tailored them for young kids, with beautiful illustrations and backgrounds about these women’s lives, achievements, and contributions to society.

For some reason, my ARC kept hanging and crashing the laptop. Hence I couldn't give this one a read. Most unfortunate :(

This is a brilliant book introducing younger children into the world of non fiction in a fun and easy to read way.
My 5.5 year old was able to read this with a little help, she knew a few of the characters from me reading to her the Kate Pankhurst books about great women in history. She enjoyed it, and both her 9 and 11 year old sisters gave it a read too.
Good book and would recommend to all.

Women who changed the world is a nonfiction book profiling 14 women (including more recent modern day women) who changed the world in some way.

The target audience is ages 3-5. This language used in this book means that each profile is kept quite simple. The basics are presented and the profile is kept quite light and airy. The illustrations appeal to a young child.

Perhaps each profile could have referenced when and where the woman lived as this would have helped to foster great discussion around the context each woman grew in.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and Net Galley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I don’t know who was interested more in this book my daughters or myself! Burke picked a wife diverse and all deserving pack of women from Harriett Tubman, Helen Keller to more recent world changers like Simone Biles or Kamala Harris.
I liked this book because it was simple enough but also carried a wealth of information perfectly put for kids to understand. As a parent myself I was learning also. A great discussion starter and perfect for all the girls with big dreams out there!

This is a wonderful, contemporary book! It features women who have done important things, from Susan B. Anthony to Ella Fitzgerald to Simone Biles. This book should be in every school library, public library, and home library. Although the age range is noted as 3-5, I would also recommend it for 5-7 year olds. I also loved the accurate portraits. Highly recommended!

I loved that this book included inspirational woman from many cultures, races, religions and time frames! It didnt just stop at the traditional inspirational woman but includes woman like RBG, Simone, Kamala, Malala, Kathleen. It truly was a wonderful book for girls to see they arnt limited. My only small critique was that maybe there should be a gallery or italics for some words with the definition at the bottom of the page. Read to my daughter and a homeschool group and we had to define a few words but overall it was loved

This brightly illustrated book for young children does exactly what it set out to do. Here are brief biographies of a number of women who grew up to do amazing things. Just some of those included in these pages are Harriet Tubman, Helen Keller, Frida Kahlo, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Simone Biles; there are fourteen short biographies in all.

This title would make a great gift. Let girls and boys know how much women have accomplished. Surely, that is inspiring.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Callisto Media for this title. All opinions are my own.
