Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for an ARC of this book.
This book was an enjoyable read, but is definitely anti Meghan. I thought this book was really interesting and well written. Some of the information was stuff that we already know, but it still kept my attention.
I enjoyed reading this biography of Harry and Meghan. I found the book to be very one-sided and at times gossipy. These qualities made for an interesting read, but I am not sure how truthful it all was. This would be a good companion piece to those who have read Harry and believe everything they read in that memoir. I think that there are 2 sides to every story and the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I think that this book gives one perspective. Certainly some of the sources used (i.e. Thomas Markle) are questionable in their accuracy. If you enjoy a gossipy story about rich people behaving badly I am sure you will enjoy this one.
I thought this would provide some new or interesting facts about Meghan but it came across as anti everything about her and her family, while just rehashing negative points.
This book was a DNF for me. I was expecting some presentation of plain facts. That's not what you get here. Everything from the first few chapters has a spin implying Meghan is conniving or manipulative. It definitely reads like the author already came to his conclusions about Meghan ahead of time and then just looked for facts to support that idea. I was expecting something a little more journalistic and complex, but oh well.
I adored this tell all about Prince Harry and Megan. A fascinating
look at today's modern break from the monarchy. A smart and deeply interesting book. Feel like there could be a sequel!
This is the book for you if you do not belong to "The Meghan Markle Fan Club." Many facts and assumptions regarding Prince Harry and Meghan are examined in detail. I don't know enough to say if this book is true journalism---but it is definitely interesting.
AND the fact that this book is not being sold in the U.S. sure does make one scratch their head? Hmmm.
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this title in exchange for my honest opinion.
Read this hoping for some new information but it is just an anti-Meghan book. Not a fan. The writing was good but it was all information we have heard before.
After a childhood spent on Hollywood film sets with her father, Meghan Markle fought hard for stardom. She landed her breakthrough role on Suits, but her dream of celebrity remained out of her reach until she met the man who would change her life—Prince Harry. Their whirlwind romance culminated with Meghan’s ultimate fairy tale ending with their 2018 wedding at Windsor Castle. Finally, the world was her stage. It seemed that the dizzying success of the wedding between the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex marked the beginning of a fresh era for the British Royal Family. Yet, within one tumultuous year, the dream became a nightmare. In the aftermath of the infamous Megxit split and their Oprah Winfrey interview, the increasingly toxic relationship between the two Windsor sides seemed forever ruptured.
With extensive research and exclusive insider interviews, Britain’s leading investigative biographer unravels the tangled web of courtroom drama, courtier politics, and thwarted childhood dreams. I will admit that I almost set this book aside several times reading about Meghan lies that directly contradicted the truth, and Prince Harry's gullibility in believing her even when she finally had to retract some of her falsehoods. I felt sorry for the Royal Family and Meghan's father. However, it does explain the Royal Family's actions toward Prince Harry and Meghan Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for granting my request to read this book. It was very informative, even if it was mostly in a negative way.
While the information provided in this book is interesting, I didn’t feel that there was truly anything new that I hadn’t read before. It’s nice to have all the information gathered in one place, but other than that there were no new revelations.
Very well researched. This is a very detailed account of Meghan Markle and her climb to the top. The lies and deceit along with Harry's gullible personality is amazing. Truly a eye opening book. Recommended to readers interested in the monarchy.
An engrossing and well-researched story of how a self-centered, fame-seeking, average actor upended Royal dynamics.
I am a huge fan of the royal family. Enter fame-seeking Meghan Markle who will upset the applecart and ruin what could have been a cinderella story. Megan instead comes off as a self-centered opportunist who is always looking to grab the next gold ring and who single-handedly upended royal dynamics.
I truly hope Harry wakes up one day and realizes he is just Megan's latest pawn.
This book seems to be more along the lines of The National Enquirer than a solid history book. So much is stated without source, and the whole book seems to be written solely to make Meghan Markle and Prince Harry look like abominable people. I realize that that is the current popular opinion, but I wanted to see more to back it up. Right now it reads like someone who hated them in high school and still hates them twenty years on. The title seemingly has nothing to do with what's in the book. The only thing I could come up with is that the book is revenge for some unstated anger with Meghan and Harry.

I feel this is a very one-sided book and I will not be recommending it.
3 stars
This book is full of many details which are very interesting to those of us who cannot get enough of the royals. It didn't seem that the author was objective, so that needs to be considered while reading but still many things that surprised me in the book. An interesting read and I was happy that it was not a rehash of things I had already heard but rather mostly new to me details! Fun!
There’s something so delicious reading gossipy history books about the British Royals. We are all equally guilty with being interested or fascinated by this extremely dysfunctional family. Tom Bower obviously has a anti-Meghan virus bias in this book. But he did really do a deep dive on her entire life before and after becoming a member of the royal family. Whatever your opinion is about Meghan Markel this book does present a lot of new information. Writing this review after the queen has just died maybe presents a little differently but if you are interested in this topic I definitely do recommend this book. PS I also listen to the audio book at the same time and the narrator has a fantastic accent!
