"Waiting on Mr. Sloth" is a delightful addition to the Mr. Sloth series that teaches young readers the valuable lesson of patience. This heartwarming story beautifully conveys the importance of savoring the present moment and appreciating the journey, rather than just the destination. Through whimsical and vibrant illustrations, young readers are transported into Sasha and Mr. Sloth's world, making the story engaging and relatable. As with the first book, this sequel delivers an essential message in an accessible and enjoyable way. It's a great choice for young readers, and I highly recommend the Mr. Sloth series for its positive messages and charming storytelling. Thanks to Capstone and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I enjoy sloths and find them to be a fascinating animal. The sloth is why I requested this book from Netgalley.
The story is cute and the little girl just wants to go swimming with her friend Mr. Sloth. However, he is so slow that it frustrates the little girl.
For me the book just didn't do it for me because it felt dragged on. I know this was intentional because of the sloth but it was too painfully slow.
This is the second Mr. Slot book my granddaughter and I read. She likes sloths and the message in these books about taking the time to enjoy what is going on instead of what you want to do or where you want to go is wonderful incorporated in the story. In this book, Sasha wants to go swimming with Mr. Sloth. She is all packed and ready to go, but he isn't. Things don't turn out the way she plans with holes in the pool and a long trip to the pond/lake. They eventually get to swim together the next day and Sasha has a wonderful time. She realizes that the wait was worth it. A great story to teach patience, stopping to smell the roses, and taking care of things before you head out. The illustrations are wonderful, whimsical and vibrant. I recommend the Mr. Sloth series.
No one likes waiting. And most children will relate to the idea of waiting for someone who seems to be taking an exceptionally long time. The text is straightforward and easy to follow. More than that, the illustrations deftly depict Sasha's growing frustration until she looses her cool. What follows is not only a lesson in patience but also an introduction to mindfulness as Mr. Sloth appreciates everything that is going on around him and Sasha acknowledges how much better experiences are when she is in the moment and with a friend. This book would work well one-on-one or in a larger group setting, especially if you followed it up with a little mindfulness practice of your own.
A book all about learning to be patient and wait for what you want to do so that you can enjoy experiences with friends.
We were so excited to see a second Mr. Sloth book after reading (and listening) to the first one dozens of times. We loved being reconnected with Sasha, and a book about patience, told through lovable characters, lively illustrations, and wonderful storytelling makes for a stellar read.
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. A book about feelings and being patient. A little girl is waiting for her friend sloth so they can go swimming, but he isn't moving fast enough.
This is an adorable children's picture book about a girl and her sloth. She wants to GO and, surprisingly, the sloth has a more relaxed agenda. I like the list of things to do when you're waiting at the end. I would buy this for kids in my life.
A very sweet book about patience! The story and moral are great for little ones. There are dips for dealing with frustration.
The illustrations are cute and super funny at times.
This is the second book in the series, and it is adorable. Sloths are exactly how you expect them to be… slow. And our little girl, Sasha Patient Pruitt is fast. She wants to go swimming, but she hast to wait for Mr. Sloth, which means she hat to find her patience. She also learned that sometimes the wait is worth the reward. This book is just all lovey-dovey and gives a warm smiley feeling to the reader. I love these two characters and can’t wait to go on anymore adventures with him.
This book was adorable and I enjoyed reading it a lot. The illustrations were beautiful and pleasing to look at. I'd recommend this book!

🌞MY REVIEW🌞
Waiting on Mr. Sloth by Katy Hudson is a cute children's book that is perfect to teach your child about patience and its importance . It was an interactive book that keeps your child interested in the story. A little girl named Sasha who is always in a hurry and her best friend named Mr. Sloth who is always slow. It's really hot and Sasha is in a hurry to go to the beach and swim with her best friend but Mr. Sloth is very very slow. This is a great story to teach patience which so many young children lack. The drawings were so cute and colorful and draw your childs attention. I loved this book so much that i checked into buying my daughter a copy and a copy for her classroom. However amazon wanted $17.99 for it.

Sasha CANNOT WAIT to go swimming with Mr. Sloth, but a certain SOMEONE is taking forever to get ready!
This is a fun tale of two opposites who happen to be pals. Mr. Sloth is a delight - he even speaks sssslowly. And, the author's illustrations are adorable.
Here's an excellent reminder to slow down and enjoy the beauty of the world around us. After all, good things come to those who wait.
Another cute installment in the Mr. Sloth series. This book teaches helpful ideas for practicing patience and gratitude.
This was an absolutely adorable little book Full of gorgeous, bright, fun illustrations, it teaches littles [and is a GREAT reminder to everyone else] about patience and how to handle oneself when frustration takes over. Sasha is a sweet little girl [with some amazing talents and loves] who loves her Mr. Sloth, even when he is frustrating and all of this just makes for a lovely little story. I found myself wanting more of the story and I hope if there are more books, they will revisit this emotion. Such a great little read. I will be looking for more by this author.
Thank you to NetGalley, Katy Hudson, and Capstone Editions for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Sasha is a girl who wanted to have a day of swimming with her pet friend Mr. Sloth but he's too slow to be there at time. Eventually, Sasha had to be patient to wait till Mr. Sloth got ready. She learned soon and enjoyed rather than to be frustated & bored as earlier.
Artwork is very good for an author herself to be doing it. Quite a talent, Katy is.
Moral of the story: "If you're with a person who is slow or faster you have to be equally patient or dynamic respectively. Else, always be flexible to make adjustments to enjoy life."
For me it deserves: 4.0/5.0

Of all the picture books that I’ve read and reviewed thus far, “Waiting on Mr. Sloth” by Katy Hudson is the very best. In fact, if GoodReads ever gets around to making a *Picture Books* category, I think that this book would be the 2023 all-star winner.
Hudson is not only the writer, but also the illustrator. Her work in both is impressive. The illustrations are colorful, bright, and are perfect for the text. The story line is inspiring and teaches kids an important lesson about patience. In fact, the author included a ‘While You Wait’ section on the last page that provides kids with exercises in how to actually learn patience.
What is really striking about this book is how Hudson paid such close attention to the world around her. For example, Sasha is of African descent, so when the main character wakes up, Hudson illustrated how Sasha wrapped her hair the prior evening by having her wear a hair cap. The author made sure to include other diverse characters, such as the child sitting in a wheelchair near the lake.
I also really liked how Hudson clearly understood sloth behavior. When I was in Costa Rica, I remember seeing sloths and being amazed at how slow they were (only descending from a tree *once a week* to defecate!). The author seized on this known behavior and used it as a tool to not only tell a story, but to help children understand patience.
This was a really excellent book and I hope that parents and libraries will make this beautifully illustrated book available to all.
Thanks to Netgalley and Capstone for the ARC of this!
I love this series! The art is so cute, the message was sweet without being too preachy feeling, and the characters are relatable and adorable. Perfect for helping kids realize how to wait and how to regulate their emotions, Mr. Sloth is great at gentle friending.
Love Sasha and Mr. Sloth! As a black girl who absolutely adores sloth it's amazing to see a book just for me! Well definitely need a physical copy for my baby's library. Love the patience tip it gives at the end
Adorable! it started with me annoyed by Sasha's attitude but I ended up loving the simple but important plot. She learns to appreciate her sloth friend , taking time to savour each moment instead of rushing.
Great artwork as usual from Katy Hudson
