This is the story of two best friends. Sasha and Mr. Sloth. They love to do many things together and they adore each other. Now, as the two best friends go, they are very different. Sasha Patience Pruitt wants things done now. However, Mr. Sloth likes to take his time. Today is the day that Sasha wants to go swimming with Mr. Sloth. As a best friend, Mr. Sloth wants to swim with Sasha too, but many things need to be seen and done before they can swim. This does not sit well with Sasha. Anger is boiling inside her; she is not happy. On the other hand, Mr. Sloth is fine waiting. Maybe there's something each of them can learn about each other.

This nicely written picture book is a great read to teach young children the importance of patience and what they can do while waiting. Kudos to the authors for adding steps children can do while they wait. I've read this to my Kinder and 1st grader students, who loved it. Practicing deep breaths and counting forward and backward was fun for the whole class.

Patience is so hard for children to learn. This is a wonderful story showing them how to practice patience and why it is important. There are just enough words for an early reader to want to give it a try. The illustrations are cut and fun. They are not overdone, but give just enough style to encourage conversations about them. Sasha's looks are priceless. A wonderful book that should be in every classroom and home.

Sasha Patience Pruitt and Mr. Sloth are best friends. In Mindful Mr. Sloth, Sasha learned that if you live your life on fast forward you’ll miss out on the beauty that can be only been appreciated at a slower pace.

Still not one to live up to her middle name, Sasha wants to go swimming and she wants to go NOW! First, Mr. Sloth takes much too long to get ready. Then one thing after another delays their swim. Eventually it all becomes too much for Sasha.

Sasha finally gets to go swimming but it turns out it isn’t as much fun without her best friend.

I love Mr. Sloth. He’s never in a hurry and he’s a master of mindfulness.

Throughout the story readers see Sasha and Mr. Sloth using different strategies to try to remain calm. These are reinforced at the end of the book, with a list of practical suggestions for when you’re feeling frustrated.

As I’ve come to expect from Katy Hudson’s books, the illustrations are gorgeous. Mr. Sloth is adorable and Sasha is very expressive.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Capstone Editions, an imprint of Capstone, for the opportunity to read this picture book.

What a beautiful story about learning patience and appreciating the small things in life. Sasha Patience Pruitt may have the middle name of patience, but does she actually practice it? She struggles with waiting on her friend Mr. Sloth as he is slow going, finding problems along the way to get to her goal of swimming. As the book ends she realized she got angry over things she shouldn't have and take the time to apologize. This is a great lesson for my kids and other children as well. Sometimes we don'g have patience, sometimes we yell, and we are not perfect people. But we do apologize and make things right if we do something wrong. I loved the friendship of Mr. Sloth and Sasha.

This book follows Sasha Patience and her quest to go swimming with Mr. Sloth. This book was SO incredibly cute and my kids loved it. It was a great conversation starter with my 5 year old and my 2 year-old got a kick out of when I read Mr. Sloth's parts really slow.

Not only is this a great teaching opportunity for kids (what they can do when they are not feeling patient and get frustrated when things or people are taking too long) but it is also a great reminder for parents. I know for myself personally, I can get frustrated when I'm trying to get out of the house for an appointment and the kids are moving VERY slow. This book was a great reminder to slow down with practical tips for remaining calm.

I will be buying a physical copy of this book to add to our library. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book with my kiddos!

A wonderful story about learning to be patient.

The illustrations in this book were absolutely fantastic. I was enamoured by the first page and enjoyed noticing all the little details each picture contained.

Sasha is having trouble being patient with her friend Mr. Sloth but she begins to use different skills to help her remain calm.
This is a great learning tool to teach children about feelings and things they can do to help when they are finding it hard to be patient, I love that it is told in a way that children will be able to relate to.
The final page gives a great visual recap of all the things Sasha did to be patient, I great way to go over these strategies and see what the reader can remember.

This book would be a great addition to a class library or even your child’s bookshelf at home.

Thank you to Net Galley and Capstone for the advanced copy.

We are big fans of Katy Hudson’s books here in our house, and this one was no exception! Sasha and Mr. Sloth are best friends who decide to go swimming one day. Of course, Mr. Sloth moves verrry slooooowly and Sasha has to learn to be patient. The illustrations are adorable, and my kids were excited to see the squirrel from Katy Hudson’s other books in one picture. At the end of the book a list is given with ideas for things to do when you have to be patient and wait, which had some great suggestions for kids.

Thank you to NetGalley and Capstone for this adorable ARC! We can’t wait to add a copy to our home library.

This story taught the importance of patience and included some great tools for self soothing and understanding difficult emotions. I think it would be a great teaching tool for kids. Sweet illustrations and not too much text per page.

Delightful! The message of this book, learning the importance of patience, is delivered in such a fun and meaningful way.
Sasha and Mr. Sloth are pals and are going swimming. Even if the young readers don't know that much about sloths, they certainly will by the book's conclusion. Their slowness is perfectly depicted by the dialogue and the humor is hard to miss. The lesson of learning to enjoy time together with friends at different paces of time will resonate. I especially like the "While You Wait" ending which follows up with some tips about learning to relax and enjoying life.

This is a very fun book about learning to be patient it even gives kids an exercise to do when they’re feeling impatient. I think it’s a great read for any kid. I read it to my niece who really liked it. I would love to find more books like this.

Ok first of all I LOVE sloths. I read this book, mainly for the cover and the fact it had sloths in it. Secondly, I picked it up for the illustrations. I mean, Sasha was like a really exciting, and anxious...kid. She's a kid. I think every children's book teaches something. This book I think teaches patience. Which to be honest I really think that some adults would benefit from this book. Including me. Read this book. I implorrrreeeee you...

I read this book to my 3 year old and he loved the story about waiting. The art was also very nicely done. I like that in the back of the book they even give kids ideas on how to be patient.

Waiting on Mr. Sloth is a story with teaching patience at its core. Sasha Patience Pruitt’s best friend is Mr. Sloth. They do all kinds of things together, and one day Sasha decides that she wants to go for a swim with Mr. Sloth. She excitedly wakes him up and then has to wait as he gets ready at his naturally slow pace. One thing after the other delays the plans she has made, and Sasha finds herself getting frustrated and unable to enjoy the day, even yelling at her friend in the process. After using her toolbox of calming techniques, she comes to realize that she let her own expectations get in the way of a fun day out with her best friend.

I always enjoy a good K-2 book that teaches patience, and I especially loved the tips at the end on how one can step back from a situation and calm themselves, allowing them to put their frustrations aside.

Ironically I thought this book was long and slow. I loved the mini messages but they got lost. Kids had a hard time sitting for this story. Probably a great book for specific students who need the message.

Journey along as Sasha learns how to be patient with her friend Mr Sloth. Colorful, whimsical illustrations accompany our characters as they navigate through two beautiful days and finally both learn to enjoy time together slowly and with fun activities. Book ends with tips for children to help them practice patience. A great read for young, school-aged kids.
