Her father's the sheriff, but he's bad news - violent and corrupt. Liesl loves her community, despises the injustice, but alone she does all she can do by sounding quiet warnings to those in danger. When she overhears his plot to kill a US Marshal, she risks her life to get a warning out by telegram.
When the famed Marshall Hawking reads the message, he's not surprised at yet another death threat, but at the whispered insinuations of a prisoner that there's a lawman in his jurisdiction on the wrong side of justice. He heads to Liesl's town undercover in order to gather information, but he stumbles on a network of corruption even he didn't imagine possible.
The home she grew up in didn't let her trust men easily. His work didn't allow him to trust his heart. They made mistakes in their friendship along the way and started to learn how to lean on each other. I enjoyed the pace of the story from undercover to trial, and the suspense as the mystery unfolds. Plus, you'll get a good western showdown!
This is the third book in the Savage Wells series. I haven't read the previous two, but that didn't hinder understanding in this one. (Although I'm gonna go back and read the others now!)
This was such a fun, entertaining, clean Western romance story! The story had just enough action and romance that it kept me turning pages as fast as I could. I loved seeing the romance blossom between Hawk and Liesl, It was also fun to revisit some favorite characters in Savage Wells from the previous books set in this little town.
I highly recommend this to anyone who loves a bit of the wild west mixed with their clean romance stories!
Thank you to NetGalley, Shadow Mountain Publishing, and Sarah M. Eden for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest opinions!
Another Savage Wells story, this time around featuring Hawk and Liesl as they attempt to bring down her corrupt sheriff father. This book really worked for me, I thought the story was tight. Sarah M. Eden definitely had a specific plot and her characters well in mind from beginning to end, and I think it lent to a well paced and tense story without getting bogged down with too much. The action was well balanced with more tender and personal interactions between the two leads. I liked that Liesl, even when she was deceived, was not embittered, she is still reasonable and willing to trust. I think this might have been my favorite Savage Wells story actually, and hope it's not the end for this Wyoming town and it's loyal residents. I received an ARC from the publisher and Netgalley for an honest review.
This may be one of my new favorite novels! Sarah Eden really captures and builds a story about a young woman deciding to do what she feels is right despite family ties. Lisel is the daughter of a corrupt Sheriff and she is determined to keep the community safe. This is a beautiful story of family issues, conflict, questioning what is right versus wrong, and acting upon that decision. There is also a clean and cute love story involved. This novel definitely piques my interest to read other works by Eden.
If you loved Hawk in The Sheriffs of Savage Wells, this is the book for you.
He goes under cover to figure out an assassination plot on himself and find a weak link in his territory. What he finds is a Sherriff's daughter who is spunky and fearless as she tries to undermine her father and his friends.
Sarah M Eden is a wordsmith who can weave a tale worthy of Hollywood and the old westerns. Her characters have depth and are real to the reader. This book is a romance and an adventure with twists and turns along the way. The ending to the adventure was unexpected with the expected happily ever after.
We are introduced to new, thrilling characters and are reacquainted with old friends. All in all this a book worthy of purchase and a regular return to read again.
Lisel is a strong and worthy heroine and Hawk is Hawk, trying to navigate new feelings and adventures with someone he cares about on the line. A little vulnerability for this Western Hero.
I received an early copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley and this is my honest review.
The dedication for this book is epic. So there's that. But there is a lot more too. I started reading the book last night but finally had to go bed when I was about 3/4 of the way through. And then I spent the night dreaming about the story. What was Hawk going to do? How would they catch the bad guys? My mind kept trying to dream the ending. When I woke up I couldn't really figure out what I dreamed would happen but it made me all the more anxious to finish reading today. I don't usually dream about the books I read but I did this one.
The story is exciting and dramatic with strategy and shootouts as well as tender moments. The romance is kinda slow burn and I don't think either Hawk or Liesl knew what to do with their feelings for the other. Most especially Hawk who thought he could never have love because of his job as a U.S. Marshall. That made him wary and Liesl confused... The intrigue was complicated making it difficult to figure out who the bad guys really are. I mean, some are obvious but we know that there has to be more to it.
Both these characters are brave, bold and have great integrity. I loved how they both wanted to fight for right in their own ways and eventually worked together in the hopes of succeeding.
I enjoyed seeing the other characters from Savage Wells. Some that we've seen before played a notable part in this story and I would love to see them get their own stories eventually.
The story is well written and a very much an enjoyable read.
Sex: no
Language: no
Violence: yes
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book through NetGalley and voluntarily chose to review it.
An unlikely pair finds love in the heart of Wyoming.
I like a good Western, especially its roughness. It provides plenty of opportunities for character development. How people deal with adversity tells a lot about what they are made of.
In Wyoming Wild, the main characters are honorable, a bit flawed, but utterly loveable. A rusty Sheriff goes undercover to a small town trying to unravel a plot to assassinate him and ends up falling for the bad guy's daughter.
I've seen it done before, but I felt this heroine was exceptional because she was vulnerable yet strong. As a result, the hero could be protective without diminishing her character.
The assassination plot brings adventure to the narrative and does not overshadow the romance, which is heart-warming and full of chemistry.
Another good one by Sarah Eden. I always enjoy her books.
The versatility with which Sarah writes is incredible!
Wyoming Wild swept me off my feet and took me on a joyful ride in the wild west of Wyoming. Would I recommend this book? Undoubtedly.
I'm not usually a giant fan of wild west stories and romances, but she made me a lover of the Wyoming wild with this one!
This was my favorite installment from this world. The story was incredible and I couldnt put it down. Definately a must read.
This is a sweet clean western romance. The language is a little much. Did they really talk like that? "Silly Sidewinders" all over the place. It was a good story. It flowed well. I loved to see these two soften towards each other. The end was a little odd. I am not sure that it all made sense. Spoiler (Why would her father come out in the open like that in a town filled with men trying to arrest him)
So a sweet story. If you like a sweet western this is for you.
No religion. Some western violence shoot outs.
this was one of my most anticipated read. i was waiting to read this even before it was announced. always wanted to see Hawk getting his Happily Ever After 🥺
this book was beautiful. so much was happening but character was loveable specially both main characters 🧡
Sarah M. Eden is one of my most favorite authors and i love almost all of her books and she didn't disappoint with this one either.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the copy.
This book was alright. It felt like it was lacking the familiar SME magic I’ve come to love from her. Their connection although immediate didn’t feel deep enough in the beginning and the relationship fell flat. Although I loved the drama and not knowing 100% who to trust. But I’ll read it again and that always makes a good book.
As always I applaud Sarah for weaving a beautiful story. I have been patiently (somewhat) waiting on this book for a few years. I first confirmed with Sarah about 3 years ago that Hawk would be getting his story soon and she came through but this story is beyond my wildest dreams for this hero. I adore Liesl and Hawk and their story fits them perfectly.
I am sure if I had to note anything bad when it comes to this book it would be the kissing scenes left a little to be desired. But knowing Sarah and her writing I completely understand and to have 5 kissing scenes in a book is huge for her.
I can't wait to see what comes next in Savage Wells. Ensio? Mr. Larsen? Andrew (because I firmly believe he deserves his own HEA)? Or any number of people in or around Savage Wells.
You can’t go wrong with Sarah Eden
Sarah Eden’s books are all excellent and this one continues the trend. I really had a hard time stopping to do anything else. I just wanted to keep reading. Hawk is a US Marshall in Wyoming and has worked tirelessly to bring peace to his assigned area with the deputies working under him. He knows the area and its people. Then he suddenly receives an anonymous telegram telling him that there is a plan to get rid of him. All he knows is that it came from the north. Liesl is the daughter of Sheriff Hodges, a man who uses his office to harass, steal, beat, frighten and worse, all those in his town. Liesl has tried to help and protect the townspeople but it is becoming more difficult and always puts her in personal danger. Her father does not play favorites. When Hawk arrives, undercover, in her town, Liesl is worried that he will also be in danger. As the truth about what is happening in the town slowly comes out, Liesl will have to decide what she is brave enough to sacrifice to help others. And Hawk must decide if there is room for anyone in his life and if it’s worth the risk. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the copy. This is my review and all thoughts are my own.
