A feet kicking cute little romance that was a quick but wonderful read. I wish the characters had more depth, but the plot was wonderful.

While this is not my cup of tea, my students would devour it! It's a cute little story that would have them debating.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a sweet YA romance and I know so many students that will enjoy reading it.

I really related to the main character Autumn because she feels like she does everything she supposed to, and still isn’t reaching her goal that she set for herself.

I’d recommend if you like close proximity romance with a side of misunderstanding.

DNF. I couldn't get into this story. I did not really like the characters and their attitude or them together.

My biggest draw for this story was the name as I love to see Promposals and wish they were around when I was in high school. I loved the idea of the MC being a young african american woman with a good head on her shoulders and being enterprising. Aside from this, I still can;t say much more than it was sooo fun of a read. I liked Autumn and reluctantly Mehki was ok as well

I loved the whole idea of a PROMposal. I thought it was cute and had the perfect name. I also like that the author included how Autumn struggled with juggling school, her personal life, and running her business, PROMposal Queen.

Although, I loved that Autumn came up with PROMposal, I didn’t like her much. I found her annoying most of the time. Sometimes her stubbornness was so over-the-top and came off as mean and arrogant. Most times I end up liking an unlikeable MC. However there has to be good character development and growth. Unfortunately, Autumn never got that.

On the other hand, Mekhi was wonderful. I felt he was more mature and levelheaded than Autumn. He made a great businessman and partner. He definitely made this book more enjoyable. I felt his character was more believable and likeable. He reminded me of why I hung out with boys more than girls in high school.

I really wanted to like this book, but it didn’t do the job. I felt the build up took forever and most of it was unnecessary. I found nothing stood out to me. It just didn’t hit like I thought it was. After all that buildup all I got was a rushed ending with no character growth. This was disappointing because it had potential. I’m surprised I finished it because I thought about DNFing it. I think the reason I didn’t is because I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Autumn and Mekhi develop.

Not sure if I’d recommend this.

A sweet, high school romance - good for a beach read. I love the typical misunderstandings although it seems silly at times that a boy places higher than other priorities, it's realistic for high school.

let’s start this up by saying that this book helped me get out of the big reading slump i was in. it was easy to read it while i also simultaneously studied for my finals.

i thought that i would hate the idea of promposal and was scared that i would die of cringe but it wasn’t the case at all. the ideas for the promposals were actually not that bad. matter of fact, the final one was my favorite.

the characters were all good. in my opinion autumn was a great fmc. i loved her determination to get into her dream college after being waitlisted.

i would absolutely recommend this book if you’re looking for a quick and easy read!

Promposal is a coming-of-age contemporary novel (with some second-chance romance elements) about a high school senior (Autumn) struggling to deal with the fact that she’s been waitlisted at her dream school—which happens to also be the only school she bothered applying to. To set herself apart from the rest of the applicants, Autumn pairs up with her old crush, Mekhi, to start a promposal service that helps students plan and execute their perfect promposals.

Based on how I’ve felt emotionally about the last few YA contemporary novels that I’ve read, I think I need to take a break from this genre. As someone who is almost 30, my ability to relate to high schoolers has dwindled significantly, which has drastically affected my ability to enjoy the story.

The problems that the main character(s) in Promposal face are very much problems that I expect high school teens are experiencing in their lives. There are issues with miscommunications, misunderstandings, and just plain old teen selfishness. In this novel, there are a lot of useful and valid lessons about self-worth, independence, and second changes. It’s a story that emphasizes the importance of open communication, along with understanding and empathy.

The ending is one that I would describe as open to interpretation, but full of promise.

A cute swoony romance with a couple to root for, I had a hard time putting this book down. I fell completely into the story about friendship and second chances, love, and teens navigating hard decisions and college admissions angst. I loved watching the relationship develop between Autumn and Mekhi. Promposal was a refreshing read and I look forward to future books by this talented author.

Don’t you hate when you’ve been waiting for a book to come out and then you finally get it and it’s not as good as you expected it to be? Yeah, me too. And this was one of them. I even begged the publishers in an email. (Maybe more than once….) But this just didn’t do it for me.

Ok so the reason I didn’t really like this? The main character. For her to be so smart and an overachiever like she’s describing, it made little to no sense that she seemed to not know how to ask qquestions. Now I get it, this is a high school student, but I still think with all this going on, she shouldn’t have been too afraid to ask him about the cheating things and all the other things. It just seemed stupid. And again, with her being so smart, why didn’t she sus out what happened? I did. That whole plot point was terrible. What saved it for me was the MMC, Mekhi. He was the only one with some sense. I didn’t understand how he was into her when she could barely understand what she herself was doing. But he was sweet, smart, and respectable. I was mad at Autumn, but Mekhi was good people. I also think I’m mad at the fact that there was absolutely no character growth the entire time for Autumn. She remained judgmental and mean the whole time.

I think I’m most mad at this because it was listed as a rom com. There was nothing funny about it. In reality, it was just a romance. And like, Idk about y’all, but that annoys me. I’m so tired of being promised one thing and getting another. Normally this wouldn’t make me that mad, but I thought it was going to be upbeat and fun with all these intricate promposals. In reality there were like 3 shown and we don’t even really get to see them working together at it. It felt like a waste.

As for the plot, it just seemed like everything that was happening was on the back of the book in the synopsis. It just didn’t feel like enough surprises in this. Adding on to this, there was no plot twist or anything, so it just felt really linear. I don’t want to say boring, but it kind of was.

What I did like was the writing style and the actual promposals that she did depict in the books. I thought they were creative and cute, but I would have preferred if they worked on more and she let Mekhi help on more. Or if she listened to him at all. He was the thing that saved this book for me and he was treated so poorly.

This wasn’t what I was expecting, but it was ok. I’m super bummed about it because I had built it up in my head. I was expecting an actual rom com with a likeable protagonist, but instead I got a book where I didn’t like anyone but the MMC and I don’t even feel really invested in their romance. Sad Day.

This was such a cute YA romance, I completely adored it. Unresolved conflict, a sweet romance and prom. The characters were lovable and I can’t wait for the authors next book.

Promposal written by RaeChell Garrett is her debut YA novel. I haven't really been enjoying YA lately, but with this book it was like living my senior year all over again. This novel balances romance, friendship, and self discovery with a unique twist on the college admissions process. It doesn't really talk about college decision day, the main character already had her dream college picked out, but it discovers how tricky it CAN be to get accepted into that certain college. Some things in this book really annoyed me, the ending was rushed, but the lack of communication wasn't there. Even though this novel had some really great ideas, the lack of communication was a HUGE one for me. Like, if you have feelings for someone and they are harboring secrets make them spill the beans, don't walk around thinking the world is all unicorns and sprinkles. The cover is definitely adorable, i'm a sucker for pretty covers. This book was definitely cute, some of the ideas were so genius worthy, but with the lack of communication heavy on my mind, I just wanted to slap the characters on the side of the head. If you still haven't read this book, go grab your copy immediately. Promposal definitely hit on a personal level.

An overachiever must decide if risking her heart by working with her former crush turned enemy is worth the reward.

Autumn Reeves is a high school senior who has been wait listed at her dream school of Mercer in Michigan. Autumn has provided her acceptance letter with a list of her achievements and goals to this college, but when she receives an email saying she has been wait listed, Autumn decides to send an email back to the admissions person saying she believed they got hacked because why wouldn't she be accepted? Autumn is so determined to move to the top of the list of being accepted, in order to be moved to the top of that list, Autumn must find a way to stand out. When a promposal that Autumn did for a friend has half the senior class asking her for help, a brilliant business idea that will look great on the application is Promposal Queen. Autumn decides to make a questionnaire for students to fill out with questions to help her better understand how she's going to make that promposal stand out. Autumn tells her parents there's no other colleges out there that want her because she just wants to go to her dream one. But can Autumn really hide that from her parents? Read Promposal to find out.

Autumn has no entire clue how to start a business, so her favorite counselor makes some phone calls to help Autumn out. Autumn joins the Young Black Entrepreneurs group and finds herself face to face with Mekhi Watson. Mekhi is the boy whose unexpected freshman year kiss, a kiss that meant everything to Autumn, but didn't mean anything to Mekhi, cost Autumn her best friend. Ever since that day in freshman year, Autumn has never said a word to Mekhi and lost her best friend. Mekhi is the only person with the business experience to help Autumn, but how can she possibly trust him? When Autumn is getting her prom dress fitted, she runs into her ex-best friend and they learn the story of what really happened that day back in their freshman year. With her dreams on the line, Autumn's willing to risk it. After all, Mekhi could be a good business partner without being a guy Autumn would ever let near her heart again. I liked Autumn and Mekhi together, but with harbored secrets between the both of them, the lack of communication was horrible. They didn't talk about anything, it was always Promposal Queen related.

Autumn Reeves has just been waitlisted at her dream school. To top it off, her boyfriend breaks up with her, calling her average of all things! She has to think of a way to get off the waitlist and fast. When she joins a business focused group of her peers, her promposal business is born. When she has no other choice but to enlist the help of the boy who ruined one of her closest friendships and her heart, she tells herself it’s all for Mercer College. It turns out that Mekhi might not be as bad as she thought, but can she let all of her stubbornness go and let him in?

I loved the idea of a promposal business and the name, PROMposal Queen is perfect! The proposals were cute and thoughtful and that’s exactly what a promposal should be. Autumn was annoying at times-took the stubbornness to a whole other level. I didn’t understand why she hated Mekhi so much. A kiss when they were younger leading to a friend breakup sounds like she was to blame for some of it. However, the public way he embarrassed her, I guess that’s hard to forget.

I enjoyed seeing the growth and relationship between not only Autumn and Mekhi, but her and her best friend, Reese as well.

This was a cute, feel good story, but it wasn’t jaw dropping in any way. The ending was really cute!

This book was so sweet, it had me smiling big.

Want to love again? Want to experience of first love? Heartbreak? Asking for prom feeling?
This YA romance will give all these to you. The cuteness, friendship, college choices this book was smooth.

This was one sitting read for me. A debut this good, I can't help but smile while writing the review.

Autumn wants to get in Mercer, her dream school but she is waitlisted and to get approved she has to show them why she deserves it. She gets the chance when her Promposal hits everyone and they all want to her to do it for them but she doesn't know the business side of that. This gets us to Mekhi, as seems like he is the only one who can help her and to add to this they share a history.

This had tension, slow burn and the plot was unique. I liked the Promposal business idea.

Mekhi was cute, bubbly person to Autumn's sarcastic. Their video call was so good and sweet. Reese was my favourite side character. Jordyn was cruel in my perspective, she shouldn't have done what she did without knowing things.

Overall, this was fast paced and I would recommend it if you want something quick, easy and loving.
