Reading a new Stephanie Plum book is like visiting old friends in your home town. Nothing has really changed since your last visit. It is a comfortable feeling. Still single, the smart-mouthed Stephanie remains a bond enforcement agent for her cousin Vinnie’s bond agency, chasing down bail jumpers, usually with her colleague Lola - a flamboyant (and large) ex stripper. The two always end up in trouble, usually while demolishing a variety of cars - so much so that the local newspaper has christened her the "Bombshell Bounty Hunter" in the local paper. She has had cars repossessed, stolen, stripped, wrecked, crushed by burning garbage trucks, and smashed into little cubes. Peopled with a cast of returning (and, ummm unique) characters, the series is always entertaining, filled with no-stop action and somewhat raunchy. Going Rogue continues in that tradition.

It’s Monday morning, and Connie Rosolli, the agency’s ever-dependable office manager, is missing. Worse, as Plum is about to find out, she has been kidnapped and being held until a mysterious coin is returned. The coin, used s collateral by a now-dead man, is nowhere to be found. The kidnappers threaten horrible things. Dare I mention the coin is worth 11 million dollars?

Very quickly ,Plum’s eccentric family, including a gun-toting grandma, a scary neighbor with an evil eye, three quirky individuals who at one time had the coin but sold it, and Stephanie’s two hunky lovers (one a cop, the other the owner of a successful private security company) become involved in the hunt. It is controlled chaos

Evanovich’s creates unforgettable characters (even the minor ones) with strong personalities. She keeps everything organized and well-paced (there is never a dull moment) and pays attention to the ongoing subplots that flesh out the novel and build a lovely sense of a community that takes care of its own.

Madcap comedy, a twisted plot, steamy romance, idiosyncratic characters and one brash, funny and determined bounty hunter combine to make this a great summer read!

I read an advance copy of Going Rogue courtesy of NetGalley and Simon and Schuster (Atria Books) for an objective review.

I was reading after my husband fell asleep. I woke him shaking the bed laughing and had to put my book away. Evanovich is back at it again! I love Stephanie, but Lula steals the show every book. I am glad to see some future-istic type movement for Steph and her relationships (I'm TOTALLY Team Ranger.) It did not disappoint and the only bad thing about having an ARC is that I have to wait even longer for the next in the series!
