I loved the story and the romance. It is full of angst, passion and mystery. Daniel and Mairi are strong and the chemistry between them is undeniable. The story is very well written and I loved their dialogue which flew off the pages. Another passion filled story in the Swooning Virgins Society series.

Remarkable story! This is definitely one of the best books I've read in a while. I was very fortunate to receive an ARC of The Virgin Who Captured a Viscount from Netgalley and the extraordinary Anna Bradley. We have met Daniel Brixton in all of the previous books in the Swooning Virgins Society. He seems to be the rough and tough caretaker/bodyguard of all the girls at school. Yet he is taken down by a mite of a Scottish lass, Mairi Cameron. Mairi has been searching for Daniel in order to clear her grandmother's name from a murder charge. Anna Bradley has outdone herself with this romantic mystery novel. Her words flow beautifully with vivid descriptions of the scenes and characters. The tension building up to what will happen is spectacular and mind blowing. I was on tenterhooks the entire time I was reading and couldn't put the story down until I knew what had happened and how things were going to transpire. Honestly a fascinating fabulous story! 6 out of 5 stars!

Desperate to save her grandmother from being hung for a crime she did not commit, Mairi hunts down her childhood friend Daniel. Daniel doesn’t remember anything of his childhood in the small Scottish village. Mairi convinces him to travel from London back to her home in Scotland. Once there, they find many secrets to reveal. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Kensington Books for my honest review.

Mairi and Daniel grew up together in Scotland. They were best friends. Daniel doesn't remember their relationship. He doesn't even know that he's Scottish. When the novel starts, Mairi has traveled to London in order to convince Daniel to return to Scotland so that they can clear her grandmother of a murder charge. He doesn't see why he should get involved, but there's something about Mairi that won't let Daniel let go.

An engaging story though a tad predictable! I loved Mairi and Daniel's friendship and hope they'll appear later in the series.

I believe The Virgin Who Captured a Viscount is the last book in the Swooning Virgins Society series, and it was a worthy last installment. I will certainly miss the gothic vibes this series had.
I really enjoyed the novel and I especially appreciated how capable Mairi was. I really liked Daniel too and the mystery concerning his past.

I love Anna Bradley books and look forward to each upcoming book! The Virgin Who Captured a Viscount was a little different than other ones that I've read, maybe because it is a different series than the Somerset sisters or Games Earls Play series. This book was darker, had a lot more going on-- plot and character-wise than those. The many characters, mysterious motives and implausible storylines made this one a little less enjoyable for me. I was impressed by Anna Bradley be able to write so many characters into a scene, or keep it going through the book!
The dialogue is great, the story keeps moving forward and keeping you interested in what is ahead. There is a LOT going on in this book, and a lot that possibly needs some trigger warnings (child death, childhood trauma, etc.). There are a lot of characters in this one, and add on top of that the hero has several names-- so it is hard to keep track of everything. A combination of so much going on, so many characters and the implausible parts of the book made this book a bit of a muddle for me.

This is more of a mystery than a love story. It is full offensive things that happen to be more than just a casual game.
On a dark street in London, Mairi Cameron finally tracks down Daniel Brixton, the childhood friend who mysteriously disappeared from her Scottish hometown years ago. Now, however, he’s an arresting stranger whose life she promptly saves. But rather than being grateful, Daniel doesn’t believe Mairi is who she claims to be—or that her dear grandmother stands accused of his murder. Mairi is desperate to convince Daniel to return to Scotland with her, not only to prove he’s alive, but because of the strong feelings she still harbors for him. . .
The Swooning Virgins Society quickly goes into action, and standing before them, Daniel is convinced to help--if only to stay near the alluring Mairi. Posing as her husband for their travels only escalates the passions between them. And once Daniel faces the dark truth of his past, he must decide if he’s ready to claim a new future—with Mairi his side .
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

The book is a good regency romance read. The story has a good story line. The characters are good, and they have good chemistry. A very nice and relaxing beach read.

I adore Anna Bradley and have read and liked all of the previous books in this series. I stayed up way too late reading this story. The mystery aspect was as interesting as the romance, and I loved both the hero and the heroine.

The hero, Daniel, is a man who has fought his way through life and acted as a protector for the ladies of the Clifford School. He encounters our heroine, Mairi, in a most unexpected way. Mairi has come to London in search of her childhood friend (Daniel), who disappeared when he was 8 and she was 6. Twenty-four years after that disappearance, Mairi's beloved grandmother has been arrested and charged with Daniel's murder. Mairi, of course, knows that he is not dead and seeks to free her grandmother by bringing Daniel home.

Mairi is a lovely heroine, strong and smart, and willing to do what it takes to protect the woman who raised her. Daniel sees himself as a brute, but the reader never believes he would hurt Mairi or indeed any other innocent. The passion between them feels believable. It is both sweet and heartbreaking to watch Daniel come to terms with the past he has suppressed, and while the ultimate twist at the end is not entirely unexpected, it comes in an unexpected way.

My only small quibble is just how clear Mairi's memory is supposed to be for a child who was barely 6 when Daniel disappeared. But I could simply be projecting as my own memory is notoriously bad. I would definitely recommend this book, and the previous books in the series. I note that this book is a true standalone, though, readers will not feel confused or left behind if they have not read any other Swooning Virgins tales. 5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a complimentary ARC. The opinions expressed herein are my own.

This is a rare gem of a romance book in which the mystery element of the plot is just as delightful as the romance itself! I had so much fun getting to know the two main characters as they rediscovered their childhood connection and transformed from disgruntled strangers into close family friends and then, of course, lovers. (There are some especially fun enemies-to-lovers moments early on as the two spar physically and verbally, and the female lead is just as strong and feisty as her male counterpart — if not more so.) The surprise ending (with an unexpected family connection) was thrilling, and I loved Mairi’s close bond to her grandmother, who was herself a fun and endearing side character. This was a fun, rewarding adventure full of gentle character development, growing romance and unexpected plot turns.

Loved it. Mairi is a strong independent woman who is well able to look after herself and Daniel is wonderful protective man with a lot of mystery surrounding him. I just loved them together and how they solved the mystery around Daniel's past and the charges against Mairi's grandmother. I haven't read the other's in this series but will now as I need to know about this school that never really get's explained. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Mairi must convinced Daniel Brixton to return to their hometown or her grandma will stand accused of his murder. The rest of the swooning virgins convinced Daniel to help Mairi... They travel and falls in love again...

A romantic story. Lots of romance and a bit of mystery. Daniel is perfect and it's nice to finally read about his background. He was mentioned a lot in the other books in the series but this is the first time we read more about him. Mairi is smart and brave. Love both of them together. As usual, wonderful dialogue and terrific chemistry with the 2 main leads. A wonderful romance.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

Mairi has been searching for Daniel. He’s the only person who can get her grandmother out of jail. She’s been charged with his murder! Daniel disappeared from their Scottish town when they were young and Mairi doesn’t know why. But she finds him in London and tries to get him to come back to testify and to show he is still alive, not murdered. But he has no recollection of any of it and doesn’t believe her- at first. She is finally able to persuade him and they set off for the north. On the way things begin to change for them. has been searching for him since.

Mairi is a wonderful strong character. It is easy to identify with her scheme to save her grandmother and to root for her and Daniel.

Daniel is an engaging character as well. He has a past that he needs to deal with in order to have a future with Mairi. And he needs to remember it all, the painful parts especially.

However, one thing bothered me. I don’t think this is a standalone. There is info that never gets resolved so I think it may be part of a previous book. In the beginning Daniel is part of a house with women and babies but we never find out what that place was and who those people were to him. We know that they are important and we read about them in the first part of the book but then they disappear. It was frustrating.

Still, I would recommend this book.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for my honest review.
