Enjoyable book. It took me a bit of time to read but I did like the book. It was a quick and simple story .
I loved reading this one. I just love this kind of books.
4 stars read for me. I love this author snd her writing style.
Thanks to netgally for this arc.
I like ella quinn generally and this was enjoyable and I went back to start some of the first in the Marriage Game series
Quick Summary: An insta-love period piece
My Review: The Earl's Christmas Bride by Ella Quinn was a short holiday romance. It introduced two people who were somewhat disillusioned by the idea of finding true love among the elite.
About the Book:
When Miss Althea Rutherford made up her mind about something, she was determined to see it through. She had a plan to live life on her own terms. Her mother, of course, had another notion. Why should she marry any man who held no appeal to her or who did not fully support her interests or pursuits? Could Lucien, Earl of Devon, be different than all the other bores?
Thwarted in love, Lucien was not on the prowl to find a partner. He had found love and lost it, feeling utterly betrayed in the process. When he met Miss Althea Rutherford while at a holiday gathering, he suddenly became aware of her as more than a mere acquaintance. She captured his attention, to the point where he could see himself having a future with her. Could she be his true heart's desire?
My Final Say: Readers who enjoy simple storylines without much undue conflict will like this very short read.

Cute Christmas novella that delivers all the typical romance tropes with some Christmas cheer. Lacked spice (with an explanation why from the author which was nice).
I did not finish The Earl's Christmas Bride by Ella Quinn and will not be writing.a formal review. It just wasn't festive or Christmasy enough for me, the hero and heroine severely lacked in chemistry, and I was left wanting so much more. Thanks so much to the publisher for the review copy, but unfortunately this book and I were not a good fit.
This was a lovely way to spend an hour on a cold, dreary London day. I’m a huge fan of Regency romances, but what I really like about this novella is the casualness of the gathering…no planned events, aristocrats on a first name basis, children in evidence, and a family Christmas with the newly-adopted Tannenbaum tradition. I only wish Quinn had given us an epilogue featuring Althea and Lucien’s time in Europe (where she could have given us the steamy scene her author note said she couldn’t fit in because of the close presence of family and friends prior to the wedding). I look forward to going back and reading the Marriage Game series.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book from Kensington Zebra through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
Ella Quinn does a great job with her historical romances! I really liked how we got to see all of her characters in one place I love those kind of connections in a series!! I look forward to what she does next.
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review!
I really enjoyed this story. It was cute, and for a novella it didn't feel rushed. I liked the couple and enjoyed watching them fall in love. Would definitely read more of this series.
I don't think I have read an Ella Quinn that I didn't like, and The Earl's Christmas Bride is no different-- it is truly delightful! I just adore seeing the same characters from Ms. Quinn's universe popping up, and I really liked Althea and Devon. Their story was really fun, and I love Christmas anything. The chemistry between the characters is on point, and Ella Quinn does a great job with her descriptions of the character surroundings and dialogue.
I feel like I am like Altheea in that this book makes me want to travel in Europe in the holiday season! Until then, I will be dreaming of it through books like The Earl's Christmas Bride. Another good Ella Quinn read!
Thanks #NetGalley for the advanced copy of #TheEarlsChristmasBride in exchange for an honest review.
This was a sweet, closed door Christmas novella I definitely want to read more of this series. A quick, sweet read just in time for the holidays. Add this one to your Holiday TBR.

This was a pleasant, heartwarming Christmas book (I think it was actually a novella.)
Lucian, Earl of Devon, has just returned from a lengthy tour of the Continent. His tour began when his betrothed decided that she wanted to marry someone of her choosing. Upon his return to England, he decides to spend the holiday season at the estate of a friend instead of returning home, knowing full well that his mother will do everything in her power to play matchmaker.
Althea Rutherford has been out for two years and has not found anyone that she deems suitable to spend her life with. One suitor even ended up with a black eye. She begins to entertain the idea of touring the Continent before finding someone to settle down with, unbeknownst to her brother who will need to give his approval. She has accompanied her brother and his family to the estate of friends for the holiday season where she meets Lucian, who is more than happy to regale her with tales of his travels.
Neither enter the holiday season with love on their minds, but the idea of a life filled with love and travel is appealing to them both.
I enjoyed this read as historical fiction is one of my favorite genres. It was also a lesson of the times since I learned new terminology pertaining to the era.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for allowing me to read an ARC of this novel. #NetGalley #Kensington #TheEarlsChristmasBride
This was a great novella. I really enjoyed reading this quick read. It is part of a series but it worked so well as a standalone. It was so heartwarming and such a wonderful historical romance novel. It really drew me in and I was easily hooked reading it In one sitting. The story line was beautiful and full of great atmosphere. It made me feel like I was watching a movie rather than reading the book. The characters were well developed for such a short book. I really fell in love with them and it felt so realistic. I recommend this book if you love historic romance novels especially those Christmas ones to get you in the mood on the run up to Christmas.
So much praise goes out to the author and publishers for creating such a wonderful short story. This book felt like a nice warm hug. It really made me smile which is just what I needed right now.
The above review has already been placed on goodreads, waterstones, Google books, Barnes&noble, kobo, amazon UK where found and my blog yesterday https://ladyreading365.wixsite.com/website/post/the-earl-s-christmas-bride-by-ella-quinn-kensington-books-4-stars either under my name or ladyreading365
Meh. I wish I had read more books from the two series that characters seem to be from. This mostly seemed like an excuse to get those characters back together. That, and the fact that Lucian was all about how he wasn’t quite over being jilted and then—bam!—he sees Althea and is ready to get to know her instead. Someone who has read the rest of the books will probably love this, though.
This Christmas romance novella really wasn't for me.
It seemed like a second epilogue for the Marriage Game series (which I hadn't read and will now likely also not) and with a new couple thrown into the mix.
There were several scenes in this novella that didn't involve either the hero or heroine which I don't like in full-length romances as this is more indicative of women's fiction rather than romance - but to have that in a short novel, is just not for me.
This is also with the background that the relationship between both hero and heroine wasn't deep enough and explored enough. When he proposed, it came as full shock as they hadn't shared any sentiments towards each other, never mind romantic ones; no embrace, no kiss, no words of affection. And having a love match was something that the heroine had been holding out for. The connection just wasn't there.
This would likely be a nice, easy read as a round up for readers who have adored the entire series as it felt like everyone from previous books was present in this story.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher Zebra books for an advance copy for the story in exchange for a review.
Bleh.. this was horrible for an HR. The dialogue was cheesy, the plot boring and not exciting. Their chemistry was minimal - I mean I get this was probably how it was during this era, but that’s exactly why I want such a strong, adventurous and angsty romance plot so I forget how boring this society was.
The book wasn’t terrible. It moved rather quick like all novellas do. There is a mix up on Good Reads as to what order and series this book belongs to. It was quite confusing since some of the Worthingtons books intertwine with some of the The Marriage Game books. At the end it mentions the other The Marriage Game books, which leads me to believe that is the closest tie to this particular book. The book really should be read in order after both the The Marriage Game and the Worthingtons because there are a lot of characters and it is easy to get lost. Think of it as The Marriage Game 9.5 and Worthingtons 7.5
Thank you to Ella Quinn and the publisher for the arc via Netgalley.
This was a DNF for me, in spite of its short novella length. So many side characters had been mentioned or introduced during the first 10 pages that I'm not even sure who the book was about. It was probably a lovely reunion for fans, but newbie felt hopelessly lost and disinterested.
A Christmas house party.
Lucian was bethrothed most of his life, while on his Grand Tour, he was jilted.
He's done with his traveling. Or, is he?
Althea is still young and would like to travel, not marry.
Perhaps she could do both?
I really liked Lucian and we get a check in with all of Ella Quinn's couples.
Recommend.
