This is a delightfully engaging and utterly entertaining festive read, with characters you cannot help caring for, of friendship and community, and all set in the magnificent location of Shetland. I recommend this highly for those readers wanting to lose themselves in a wonderful feel good escapist read!
A feel good cozy festive read with a perfect wintery setting and characters you completely fall in love with
A fab festive read that I really enjoyed. Thanks for the opportunity to read & review. Highly recommended.
This was a brilliant book that I really loved reading. I just couldn't put it down and read it in just over a day. It wasn't overly Christmasy but was a great story. The fantastic story line was full of little dramas most of which were unexpected. I just loved the characters as they were realistic and very easy to connect with. I loved the inclusion of the llamas they made the story all that more enjoyable. What I loved the most was that the main character callie had money troubles and was willing to work very hard to pay off her debts. I certainly admired her productivity and determination to sort them out and it made for great reading. I loved the different types of jobs she was juggling and it really bumped up the pace of the novel. This book is part of a series but this book worked well as a standalone as I lost the book that started this series. This book was well wrote, followed seamlessly and definitely had me hooked. Its a great feel good novel that made me smile. I really can't recommend this book enough as it is a real page turning heartwarming story that I am sure you will love.
So much praise goes out to the author and publishers for creating such a wonderful story that was set in the shetlands. I definitely will be looking out for more books by this fantastic author.
The above review has already been placed on goodreads, waterstones, Google books, Barnes&noble, kobo, amazon UK where found and my blog https://ladyreading365.wixsite.com/website/post/a-shetland-christmas-carol-by-erin-green-headline-4-stars either under my name or ladyreading365
I really liked this book. I am a sucker for christmas romances and this did not disappoint! It was a very cute and heartwarming story with cozy christmas vibes. I did not read the first 3 books before this one, but I really dont think its necessary
At times interesting, and love the title, but too many narratives and felt pulled in different directions at times. Haven't read others in the series, which may have helped if I had. Would recommend if you have read others in the series.
A Shetland Christmas carol is a wonderful story surrounding 3 strong women on the Shetland island.
The story is told from the 3 different narratives in each chapter. Each woman is very different whilst all sharing the same trait - strong independence.
I loved the fact that it told the three stories at once whilst still managing to tell one complete story. At first I did find it very confusing with who is who and who is related etc but once I was into it it flowed very well.
The characters were likeable and believable. The conversations were believable and flowed well.
I had not realised this was part of a series and think I may have understood more had I read the others. There were lots of storyline, which were intertwined but also fought for attention and it took me a while to sort out who was who and follow their story. That said I enjoyed the book and the characters and it was a good christmas read.
I received a free copy of A Shetland Christmas Carol by Erin Green from the publisher and NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first visit to this group of characters, and Erin Green's Shetland, but it won't be my last. I'll be catching up with the entire series!
This novel showcased a great set of characters, each with plenty going in, and in the perfect Christmas setting. A thoroughly enjoyable seasonal read.
I love a good Christmas book! I always seem to pick the books I read based on the cover and this book cover certainly is a lot of fun!
This is the fourth book in the From Shetland, With Love series but the first that I have read. Which maybe why I had a hard time really getting into the book. There are so many characters and I couldn’t keep track of who’s who. I had to write everyone’s names down and how they were related to each other. I would like to go back and start from the beginning of the series to see if that helps.
This book switches between three POV’s…
Callie, she lives with her parents and is in financial trouble and works multiple jobs barely making ends meet. This character was annoying at times but really changed my mind about her was how she handled being accused of something that she did not do. Yes she was upset, but really I feel that she took the high road - especially when the accusers realize that she didn’t do it.
Heather is a single mom of two grown daughters and she breeds dogs. I love how protective she is of her dogs (and the pups) and it shows that she is the same way with her daughters (maybe too much when it comes to their love lives).
And then there was Tabitha - my favorite of the three. She makes soaps and other beauty products. She is also really involved with the community theater where she performs in The Christmas Carol. She really proves that she is a true leader and does what it takes to make sure the show does go on!
I did enjoy this book, I really liked the setting and the back-up characters…it just went slower than I would have liked since I was mapping the characters out.
Thank you to Headline, NetGalley and Erin Green for this Advanced Readers Copy of the book for my honest review!
Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for a review.
Having read all the other Shetland books I was quite excited to read this one. However, I didn't enjoy this one as much as the others. I felt there were too many stories all clamouring for attention. Overall OK but a bit disappointing.
The stories of three women who all live in a small Shetland community. A great festive read, set in a great location.
It was lovely to catch up with all the characters from Lerwick on Shetland again. The main characters were Callie, Heather and Tabitha who we learn more about and their stories
A lot going on which did occasionally confuse me but that's not hard to do at the moment ! but it was a fab read none the less
I’ve been really looking forward to reading this next book from Erin, based in Shetland, it didn’t disappoint.
Back with all the lovely characters - Dotty and Mungo tie the knot, Callie is stressing over her debt, Heathers dog has puppies and Tabitha getting her leading acting role. It all comes together for them all at Christmas.
Loved reading these books at Lerwick Manor and would love it if there’s was another. Would thoroughly recommend reading it. A great book, even as a stand alone, although if you read the others you’ll get an even greater insight into the characters and the area.
I couldn’t finish it. I found it too hard to read and was all over the shop. There were too Charachtwrs and it was all over the shop
Sorry.
This was an incredibly difficult book to review. It is the fourth in a series although I didn't find it difficult to get involved with the story and the various characters- even though I often got muddled between Mungo & Magnus Isla & Iona. My difficulty came from living in Shetland for the best part of twenty years & there were some things that really jarred with me. Firstly, not having a pantomime in the Garrison Theatre at Christmas would probably lead to civil unrest. Knowing it's fiction, I wasn't bothered by the fact I couldn't imagine where Lerwick Manor could be but although it sounds a great place, planning would never have allowed the craft spaces as it would have taken people away from 'Da Street' (where incidentally there is a lovely goat's milk soap shop!) It's my fault that I couldn't rate this more highly as it was an enjoyable read. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.
A most enjoyable read what's the time of year! Very likeable characters and excellent plotline. I look forward to more by this author.
Good read. Great characters, enjoyed the setting, lots of side stories weaved into it and it flowed really well. A good read for a rubbish day. Will make you feel better!
This is a performance that has problems...
Net Galley let me read this book for review (thank you). You can get a copy now.
There are three women and several men and it's a battle to get the performance put together. With a lot of work, they manage but then the stage burns down. Finding another place is hard but they do it.
Then the lady who is pregnant suddenly is going to have her child during a wedding...
There is romance, alpacas and puppies to find the find the right families for. Nothing is easy. But at the end everything works out.
I didn't realise this was part of a series until I came to write my review. It stands alone well enough, although I enjoyed it so much I wish I'd read in sequence.
There are a lot of characters in this book and they are given real depth by the writer. I really got a feel for their community and their lives.
This is a fab book, intertwining the stories of three main characters - Heather, Tabitha and Callie.
It's not your typical Christmas fluff. It's a heartwarming, well-told story.
