Worthy Opponents by Danielle Steel is a story that spans three generations. I thought Worthy Opponents was an easy-to-read story. I was immediately drawn into the tale. I like the author’s casual writing style. I enjoyed the wonderful descriptions of Brooke’s. It sounds like a very special store. If I had the money, I would want to shop there. I liked the majority of the characters in the story (Spencer’s father and wife were the exceptions). Spencer is a strong, smart woman with a good heart. I liked how she wanted to preserve her grandfather’s legacy. Spencer is a woman who works to overcome the obstacles thrown in her path. She had a great attitude. Spencer sees no reason why she could not have a career and a family. It takes hard work, courage, love, and help from the right people. I enjoyed the heartwarming ending. Worthy Opponents is a story about dedication, hard work, family, second chances, and love. The first couple of chapters are the backstory. They set the stage for the rest of the book. There is repetition of the main details. I am not sure why author’s feel the need to repeat key details (do they think we forget). I have been reading Danielle Steel’s novels since I was twelve years old. I am always eager to read her latest creation. Worthy Opponents is a great escape. I like it when I begin reading and the world falls away. For a few hours, I am immersed in a different world. Worthy Opponents is an uplifting tale about a family legacy, a resilient woman, a special store, a disheartening hardship, a money man, and a lasting love.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book in advance for an honest opinion.
I like the characters but I thought the book was boring. I kept waiting for something exciting to happen but it really didn't.

Spencer Brooke always knew she was destined to be CEO of her grandfather’s business—the most respected and luxurious department store in New York City. She may be the owner of Brooke’s, but she’s also now a divorced single mother of twin boys.

Mike Weston is known for making enormous profits by transforming small businesses into bigger, more successful ones. And Brooke’s feels like the perfect opportunity. Yet the firm’s beautiful CEO turns down the offer before they even meet.

Danielle Steel has written an engrossing story of two driven opponents,, and the sparks they strike off each other. Recommended. #WorthyOpponents #NetGalley #SaltMarshAuthors

Spencer runs the family business that was started by her Grandfather. She has many challenges that her Grandfather or Father did not have to face.
A good story about a single working mother in our world today.

Worthy Opponents is Danielle Steel's writing at its best! I rediscovered Ms. Steel's novels several years ago after a long hiatus. This novel has a multifaceted heroine, Spencer Brooke, heir to a high end clothing store that has been in her family for years. Mike Weston is the charismatic "hero" who is flawed, but a hero none the less! The synopsis of the novel is easily found on the internet, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend reading it! Thanks to NetGalley, Danielle Steel, and the publisher for the ARC!

Worthy Opponents by Danielle Steel is another one of her wonderful novels. Spencer Brooke, our heroine, as a child, she was always enamored with her grandfather’s business, Brooke and Son; a popular respected and well known department story in New York City. Growing up, Spencer loved fashion design, majoring in fashion administration; especially as she knew she was destined to become the CEO of Brooke’s. After her father’s death, she inherited the business in her thirties; and was determined to salvage the damage done by her father’s poor management skills, preserving her grandfather’s legacy.

A short time after Spencer inherited the store, she got married, and had twin boys. Her husband wanted her to give up the store, and stay home with the boys; she did not agree, determined to prove that she could manage her career that she loved, as well be there for her children. After a number of years, she gets divorced, with the husband not really caring for the children. Spencer has a few wonderful loyal management staff, and realizes that things have gotten harder financially, as she may need an investor to help, as well as possibly expand. Spencer is stubborn, and doesn’t want investors to take the majority of her business.

We meet Mike Weston, one of the most successful investors, who is contacted by Brooke’s CFO, requesting to meet. Mike finds his marriage slowly falling apart, as they rarely talk anymore, and with his two grown up children away, things are extremely at the breaking point. When the owner of Brooke’s refuses to meet with him to discuss possibilities, he anonymously sends her an invitation to a gala, so that he can learn more about her. After meeting her at the dinner, they find themselves liking each other, and a friendship evolves, even though Spencer is not interested in his investment proposals. Brooke’s ends up with a few setbacks, a flood, and later a dangerous disaster close to the store.

Spencer knows she will have to give up a majority of her company, as the damage was costly; despite her despair, she will make a deal with Mike. Will there be another way for Brooke’s to survive, without Spencer losing everything?

What follows is a wonderful story that is emotional and heartwarming, with a wonderful heroine, and fantastic characters. Slowly Spencer and Mike begin to have feelings for each other, and develop a personal relationship. I loved them together; they made such a great couple. I enjoyed watching Spencer’s twins and Mike grown up children become close. I loved Worthy Opponents, which was so very well written by Danielle Steel. I wholly suggest you read this wonderful story.

This is another winner from Danielle Steele. Spencer is running the upscale store that has been in her family for generations. When she encounters several obstacles, she needs to find a way to keep the business going. Wouldn’t you know that a handsome stranger steps in at just the right moment? This was a good story of devotion and love for others. I really enjoyed it!

I am reviewing a preview copy of Danielle Steel's book "Worthy Opponents.

How much sacrifice does one need to make to protect the 4th generation family business? How much does it take to reach the last straw when there appears to be no other alternative? How important is tradition and what must be done to keep the business growing? All these are questions Spencer must answer after inheriting her Grandfather's fashion business, Brooks. After surviving a fire and a gang war, and an ever becoming unsafe location, will she accept the only offer she receives to help her survive and grow or will there be a compromise that will lead to a successful transition?

I can always tell when I've picked up a Danielle Steel novel because she has very distinct writing style. I enjoyed this story about Spencer who is trying to maintain the store that is her family legacy. Then there's Mike who is trying to figure out if he wants to stay in a loveless marriage or take a chance on finding happiness again. I liked how these two interacted with each other & their respective families. I did feel like it was mentioned one too many times that Spencer was a remarkable woman always doing good but I still enjoyed her character & the story itself.

Thanks to the publisher & NetGalley for advanced copy in exchange for my honest review

This is a good book. The two main characters are Spencer and Mike. Spencer has just inherited the family department store. Her grandfather trained her to run it. She is a divorced mother of twins. Mike wants to help her develop it with the times. Spencer at first turns his help down, but she is backed into a corner. She has to have Mike help.

Worthy Opponents by Danielle Steele is. a wonderful story about love and sacrifice. Spencer Brooke had always been groomed by her grandfather to carry on the family legacy that has only been carried on by men. She had an eye for fashion and a love for trendsetting luxury items. Her hope is to pass it on to her boys.

In walks the handsome Mike Weston, a wealthy investor that absolutely loves the store. Will Spencer end her family legacy or fight to keep it alive.

Danielle Steele has done a wonderful job of describing each scene. I. especially loved Mike Weston's family. I could actually relate from the children's point of view, so it was very real to me. This was a wonderful story with a beautiful ending everyone will enjoy.

Danielle Steel's novel, Worthy Opponents, was a rewarding read. It does have a romantic touch as her other novels. More importantly, were the characters who were introduced. Spencer, who never had a close relationship with her parents, found love and gratitude from her grandparents. She loved being with her grandfather and learning the importance of being a worthy employer to his staff and his customers. Spencer always remembered his words of wisdom and wanted to follow in his footsteps.. Spencer faces obstacles in her personal life and also the business world. Can she be a loving mother and a force to be reckon with in the business world? Read this novel, to find out how Spencer combines these two elements in her life. Thank you to Net Galley for allowing me to read her latest novel before its publication.

Find love and be love...that's it in a nutshell.
Worthy Opponents brings all the warm fuzzies and heated emotions of divorce to the front.
Danielle Steel always finds that high road that'll either make you or break you but either way it'll create something magical as life lessons are prominent.
It begins with a family estate - Brooke's- but sadly it's become haven to homeless in a bad part of town.
The owner is Spencer who inherited it from her grandad. Brooke's is a divorced mom of twins.
Mike Weston is our hero in disguise -an investor-who for all intense purposes appears as nothing more than a 'snake' until a sudden change of events.
Bad luck happens and Spencer (CEO) must make an all important decision on whether or not to sell, or split up her share of ownership with Mike and accept his deal after the fire.
Online websites aren't cheap. Trust me I know after uncovering similar experiences.
Therefore, trying to find the money upfront w/o having it readily available is the real challenge.
He wanted her to sell but she teetered upon the idea of him only nearly the whole thing.
Meanwhile, the flames sizzled in his marriage after 20 years with divorce looming and older kids getting on with themselves & their own lives.
Maureen ( Mike wife) seems to make out but reality for us divorced ladies isn't quite as rosy as portrayed (my only gripe). Child support is meant up to age 18. Her kids are grown in college if I'm not mistaken. Not sure how the payment for kids expenses and apartments in college worked out in court in her favor.
I digress, what we have here is a story of life altering scenarios that end up bringing some families closer in retrospect while others falter to the waste side.
Thank you to Danielle Steel, Delacorte Press, Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
Worthy Opponents is due out: March 7th 2023!!!

I've mentioned before in my reviews that I thought I could recognize Danielle Steel's writing anywhere. Well, it just happened. I, honestly, had no idea I was reading her book, thought it was another one. But, as I read, I kept thinking, "Wow, this author writes so much like Danielle Steel, you'd almost think it WAS she!"

Finally, I just had to get out of my Kindle and go back to the library menu to learn who this writer was who must have learned from DS. Haha, I might have known that it was Ms Steel, herself. No one writes just like she does, so matter-of-factly while still captivating the reader.

This was a sweet love story, but I fear giving more detail would ruin the experience for a new reader. So I'll just say that you will really come to love and admire both of the main characters and will be pulling for them to get together.

I will leave reviews on Book Bub and GoodReads now and on Amazon in March when the book is released. Thank you for the opportunity to pre-read it!

I need to think about this a little more before I write a solid review. This is a very quick read perfect for the beach.

Okay, I've thought some more about this book, and this is what I think. I had problems with the first two chapters. They were extremely long, and the reason for this is that they give the entire background of both of the protagonists -Spencer Brooke and Mike Weston. It was a bit much to gulp down all at one time.

The rest of the book was interesting, if a bit unbelievable. Spencer is trying to keep her dream alive, and Mike wants to take her dream and own it himself. Spencer's dream is an elite store that was founded by her Grandfather. Mike wants to take that dream and make it something it was never meant to be.

One of the unfathomable parts is how so many tragedies can befall a store and a dream before one gives up. Well, in this book, it takes at least three disasters before Spencer admits that she needs help. This will work in Mike's favor.

However, because this is a romance, things will work out romantically, and the dream remains bigger and even better!

Happy (and typical) Fairy Tale ending.

I liked the strong female character that made her way in the world of fashion despite her parents being so lackluster about her. It was predictable that the dashing rich gentleman came to her rescue. I liked how he sent her tickets to the Met and she realized her current boyfriend was a CAD!

Worthy Opponents was such a treat. I love Danielle Steel. She is one of the most consistent authors of our generation, I was sucked into the story of Spencer and her family’s legacy - a high end department store, Brooke’s. Spencer is a likable character that you can root for through the entire story. Through the ups and downs in her professional and personal life, you want nothing more than for Spencer to win. An endearing story with. an heartwarming ending. I would love a follow up store of Spencer and Mike.

Thank you NetGalley, Danielle Steel and Random House Publishing Group for the ARC of Worthy Opponents. This is my personal review.
I have been a fan of Danielle Steel for years.
Worthy Opponents took me into the world of Spencer Brooke. She has her life based on keeping the family legacy luxurious boutique running as she knows best how to do that. But things happen in her life that make that almost impossible to do.
Mike Weston is impressed with how she runs her business, and he wants a part of it not only to make money for himself and his group of investors but also for Brooke.
This is a story that had me vested in the story to watch how things unfolded. I enjoyed this book very much and I know others will too.
