Tijan's books never fail to keep me entertained and this one wasn't any different. It was long but fast-paced, I was able to finish it under two days. It's the story of Jess who's a payrole officer. She believes in the law and doesn't support anything that breaks her morals. But all of it is bound to change when she meets Trace at a hockey game. Trace turns out to be a mafia prince who's hiding his identity by using some of his legitimate businesses. There was an immediate physical attraction between them when they first met. Though Trace discovered that Jess was a cop, that didn't deter him from going after her. The story was full of twists but the one I didn't see coming was when I was on the verge of finishing the book. Because that ending has truly left me hanging and I wasn't expecting the book to conclude like that. I hope there's an explanation in view of the fact that I think there were some things left unexplained and some which didn't come to light. Overall, the main characters were well written. I just loved Jess, she had been through so much over the span of her life but her circumstances toughened her up. I was so glad that she could take care of herself but Trace was the missing person she never knew she needed. Though being with him meant that she had to make some sacrifices, I was content in knowing that were together through it all.

Tijan never disappoints!
A Dirty Business the Kings of New York book 1 was an enthralling story.
I've enjoyed this authors previous books an I'm beyond excited for a new series.
Her writing just pulls me in immediately and hooks me instantly.
Her characters are complex but so much fun.
I'm a big fan of Mafia Romance novels. I've gotta say she has a great story here with A Dirty Business.
I'm thrilled to see this is book one and I'm already ready for the second one.
Entertaining, engaging and a book that I didn't want to put down.

This book just wasn't for me. I tried to force myself to keep going but this was way too insta-lovey in my opinion.
The FMC and the MMC are basically obsessed with each other from the second they lay eyes on each other, the same goes for the side characters. I need TENSION, and this did not give. The FMC is supposed to be in her upper twenties but she acts/talks like a teenager and I found her to be annoying. I also felt that there wasn't enough of a distinction between the POVs, I sometimes forgot whose chapter I was currently on. It just didn't feel like he was a mafia man while reading his chapters.
There is also a part where someone is in a medically induced coma and they literally bring them home from the hospital before they even came out of the coma??
I DNF'd at 30%

If you are fine with insta-love, this may be for you, I just couldn't connect enough with the story/ characters to keep going.

A Dirty Business is a romance between a parole officer and the heir to a mafia family. It is told in first person from dual POV’s of Jess Montell and Trace West. Jess and Trace meet at a Hockey game and they have an immediate connection. Trace hates anything to do with law enforcement but can’t keep away from Jess. Overall I would give this a generous three stars. It was ok but the romance happens way too fast for my liking. I prefer a lot of buildup but Jess and Trace were immediately attracted to each other. There was no tension for me. I’m not really a fan of Tijan’s writing but I can see many people loving this. The story moved at a quick pace and it was easy to read.

Brilliant read as always this author leaves you captivated from the get go! Read enjoyed the storyline and the chemistry between Tristan and Jess. Highly recommend reading!

A romance between a parole officer and the heir to the Mafia family. Like all Tijan's books, it's hot, steamy and sexy. I love both characters. Such hot chemistry between the characters! :) I love the suspense and the the fast moving pace.
