As an Avid Tijan reader this book excites me. A Mafia romance with lots of love, passion and danger. Two new characters to fall in love with, Jess and Trace. Two sides of a coin who straddle the line of right and wrong. Trace the prince of the West family doing his duty while wanting to get out. Jess a parole officer a woman that despite her past family affiliations, strives to be on the right side of the law.
A deeply passionate romance that is as suspenseful as it is passionate. A couple filled will love and doubt. A couple that will undoubtedly hold us captive till the end of this series.
Thrilling, Tijan gives us what she does best, an addictive romance and relatable characters. Characters that are complex with their honesty and duplicity. Another hit is what she has given us and I eagerly await the next book in this series, because she has left us with a surprise ending that will leave you gasping. Five Stars! (
You absolutely have to go into this authors books blind-trust me, it makes it that much better. Every book is just so brilliantly different, but her heroines seem to truly possess an independent and strong character trait that truly just keeps you hooked. In this story-the heroine is a tough parole officer that’s known quite well for taking no crap from anyone, but she finds herself in a pickle when a chance meeting has her falling for a criminal himself. He’s charming-but he’s everything that she can’t have, and it makes for some of the absolute best chemistry I’ve read. Their love story is unique, and full of drama, and it’s no secret why this is rated five stars. This story was simply addicting, and I finished it during one sitting because I couldn’t put it down. A must read for any romance lover looking for a dash of suspense!
Add this to my list of books I stayed up till 3 am reading. I literally could not put it down, I HAD TO KNOW what was going to happen.
When I saw this was Tijan I knew I wanted it. When I saw it was a mafia romance I knew I had to have it!
Of course it didn’t disappoint! Tijan books hit all my books and this one is right up there as a favorite. A Mafia “prince” if you will, and a clean PO officer, a chance meeting, and a inferno will ensue.
With out given too much away this is just an all around great read, face paced, and suspenseful, I am really started to love these mafia romances. Jess and Trace are amazing and there is still so much of their story that I want.
Grab this one quick because this series is going to be a must read!
After starting and stopping several books, this was the first one in awhile that actually kept me reading, thanks to that crazy, addictive quality I have come to expect from Tijan books. However, I wish that there would have been a little more to the plot.
I liked the quick, short chapters that helped move the story along. I also liked that we got both Jess and Trace’s POVs, even though they were pretty similar. While I ultimately did like the romance, I also kind of expected more from it. It’s basically lust at first sight, turned into kind of an obsession, and then they’re all like “I’d do anything for you” in love – almost out of nowhere. There wasn’t really any type of actual relationship development and I missed it.
The tone of this was also pretty different than what I expect from something promoted as a Mafia Romance. It was actually really light on the mafia content, it was just mentioned a lot. There was honestly not a lot that really happened until the final chapters. It kept me reading, because there’s always some dramatics going on with Tijan characters, but I was still left kind of bored most of the time.
Overall, A Dirty Business, was just ok for me. I wish a little more had happened and that there was more to the relationship development, but it did keep me reading when no other book would keep my attention, so I’m giving it 3 stars.
This book is a must read. I couldn’t put this book down. I had to know what happened next. Jess is one tough woman. She doesn’t take crap from nobody. She is trying to stay good and stay out of his way of what he does. Jess has been through a lot with her mom and brother. Trace is so sexy. He doesn’t put up with anybody’s crap either. The way he is with Jess, I just absolutely love. They are so good for one another. I wanted them to be together so bad but we had to go through the ups and downs of these two to get the full picture. They make a good team. I highly recommend this book. Another great read Tijan. I can’t wait for the next book.
This boy is thiccccc! Jess and Trace’s story had so many twist and turns. I couldn't put the book down. Everytime you think you know something plot twist! The ending OMG! I can't wait for part two.
I love love Mafia stories. Carter Reed was my favorite mafia story from Tijan, but now it is "A Dirty Business". Jess is a parole officer and while Tristian aka "Trace" is a business man who works on wall street but at the same time is in the mafia. They met at a hockey game and they were instantly attracted to each other. However, things are not as simple as they look. When Trace found out Jess is a parole officer, he gets angry and distance himself but at the same time, he can't resist her. He wants her but with his current lifestyle as being in the mafia, he should stay away. Jess has a complicated life dealing with her own family issues. Her mom is a drunk while her brother is in jail. She is working two jobs to pay off the debts. I am going to stop here before I spoil the book. I would say as the story goes on, there were secrets that unraveled and it shook me. Book 2 needs to be released asap!
Tijan is this author, that I really love to read, but honestly sometimes it's hard for me to dive in for a 100% in her words. With this title, I didn't have this problem, the whole story line sucked me into in a matter of seconds. Dirty Business definitely is this book that had kept me in line since the first pages and I loved it so much. I could feel from the beginning, that Author knows exactly how to lead her characters thru the pages. It was emotional, intense and packed with tons of unexpected twists and action.
The relationship between Jess and Trace is created in beautiful way. They are opposite to each other, but they can't denied the push/pull between them. Their feelings were intese, but built in typical Tijan's style. Where is the love and drama, she knows how to put everything together and left readers speachless at the end.
Highly recommend this title.
Oh Tijan what have you done! Another series of yours for me to get addicted to and obsessed with!
From the first page you are enticed in and then captured, never wanting to leave until this has finished and even then you are wanting the next book NOW!
We are introduced to Tristan, aka Trace, one of the Kings of New York. He's deliciously dark, brooding and totally unprepared for his world to be tipped upside down and for him to become addicted to a sexy, feisty Parole Officer. Given his profession and the family business entering a relationship with someone in law enforcement is probably not going to end well.
The chemistry between Trace and Jess is off the charts hot but starts off at a delicious slow burn whilst they try to deny what is brewing between them. Add in the suspense and danger that is lurking in the background this is one hell of a page turner.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series and see what happens next.
It’s the start of a new series from Tijan and it’s very much a slow burn, mafia romance featuring Trace West, a Wall Street/mafia boss and Jess Montell, a parole officer. First of all it was an unusual career choice for the heroine and also, going by what I’ve just read the job description is a helluva lot different from what it is in the UK.
I did enjoy the overall story with Trace being torn between two worlds all while a mafia war was brewing but I really didn’t take to Jess. She just seemed a bit too narrow minded and judgement in parts. It seemed to me like she was never off duty and very much by the book, reporting parole violations left, right and centre but in contrast she has no problem working in a nightclub with dubious ownership and when it comes to Trace, she has difficulty in remembering that technically he’s supposed to be the enemy. There is a lot of conflict between them especially from Trace who’s all “I can’t be with her, she’s a cop” at the same time as obsessively stalking Jess until he knows every detail of her life. There were a lot of secrets in Jess’s life mainly to do with her family and I had somehow got the impression that her father had been in some kind of law enforcement until the truth came out. I did love the character Ashton though, Trace’s best friend and business partner even if at times I wasn’t sure what side he was on but then I do have a weakness for the bad boy in a story. I do feel that this book could’ve been slightly condensed especially since a lot of the mafia war element happened off page so to speak with readers only being told of the aftermath but I did enjoy A Dirty Business especially since the characters were older than Tijan’s usual late teens, early twenties. It does end on a bit of a cliff hanger but not a total shocker, it’s more of the ‘to be continued’ variety and I’ll definitely be waiting for the next book in The King’s of New York series to release.

After reading the blurb to this one I couldn't wait to start it, and once it hit my kindle I dived right into it, and wow, I was hooked from start to finish.
Jess and Trace had an undeniable connection but their backgrounds threaten their relationship but after weeks off trying to deny what they feel, lines are crossed and together they are just 🔥
Alot of mafia aspects in this one, which kept me on edge, wanting more. And twists and turns that left me shocked!!!
And that freaken cliffhanger....can't wait for the next one♥️

Jess and Trace have an unexpected meeting while she is out at a hockey game with best friend Kelly. They have an immediate connection but Trace catches wind of her job as a parole officer and he is out.
With suspicion of being followed Jessnotices that Trace is showing up places she's at. Neither can stay away from the other but there is no love lost between these two enemies. Trace is tied to the West mafia family. He is expected to take over the family business and leave his wall street life behind. He runs several straight businesses with best friend Ashton and Jess unknowingly works as a bartender for one.
Family strife and complications rattle Jess and Trace who can't seem to stay away even know their relationship can destroy everyone in their path. A fast paced story of forbidden love with secrets, twists, turns and a shocking cliffhanger ending. Hang on tight for this thrilling ride.
Ok, so wow. A Dirty Business by Tijan is out today, and when I say I DEVOURED this book, I mean it. I couldn’t put it down. Thank you so much to @valentine_pr_ for my advance review copy.
A Dirty Business is an awesome, fast-paced mafia romance full of twists and turns. Jess and Trace are the epitome of forbidden romance…she’s a parole officer, a poster child for law and order, and he’s the heir apparent to the West mafia empire, despite his longing to distance himself from his family’s operations. Their relationship is fraught from the very beginning, and there are so many forces working to keep them apart. His family is on the cusp of war. Someone is leaking West family secrets to the enemy. Simply loving Jess puts her in danger, but Trace can’t stay away. Jess has to choose if loving Trace is worth the cost. (Did I mention it’s wonderfully steamy? Their chemistry is fire emojis, and I was here for all of it.)
And holy cliffhanger, Batman. What was THAT?! I had assumed it was a stand-alone, but it better not be with that surprise ending. I can only hope I get an ARC of the next book, too, because I’m dying to know what happens next.
If you haven’t read any of Tijan’s books, you’re missing out. She’s one of my absolute favorite authors of romantic suspense. My new goal is to catch up on all of Tijan’s backlist.

Oooooooo, y’all, this new mafia world Tijan is creating is thrilling and sexy af. The characters are a bit older than her usual ones and the emotions seem much higher. Trace is heir to the mafia and Jess is a parole officer with a chip on her shoulder. They’re drawn to each other with crazy chemistry and despite all the massive hurdles between them, they can’t stay away from each other.
Man, Tijan went all out with Trace. That man is addicted, obsessed with Jess from the beginning. He hires PIs, stalks her, follows her, watches her. And through it all, the tough, independent Jess tries to stay away but she feels comfort and safety with Trace’s touches. They both know their relationship is a disaster waiting to happen, and boy are they right.
What I wasn’t expecting was the cliffy. Yep, total cliffhanger here and while I feel Jess and Trace are nearly solid, there’s still so much going on in the background, now I’m addicted. But that’s what Tijan does, she draws you in and rips you to shreds before she pieces you back together layer by layer.
A Dirty Business is thrilling, sexy, and fast-paced. So many amazing characters, plot twists, revelations, developments…and this is just an introduction to the world. So yet again, I find myself ensnared by Tijan’s imagination and I need more.
I had the pleasure of reading A Dirty Business by Tijan and man was it good and kept me turning those pages late into the night!!
Sooo, Jess meets Trace at a hockey game. Sparks fly, but both should really stay far away from each other. Jess is a parole officer and Trace is successful in Wall Street anddd his family is one of New York's biggest Mafia...so yeah...there's that!! lol
Get ready for lots of good ole sexual tension, drama, twists and turns and remember to breathe while reading cuz I had to keep telling myself to breathe while reading...haha

Tijan has done it again! I have loved Tijan mafia books so much so when she announced her new series would be mafia I was so excited to get my hands on this book. As soon as the book hit my kindle I was all in.
🔹
Jess has had a hard life and now as a parole officer it's not any easier. She now has the responsibility of taking care of her mother and trying to live her life. When she has a run in with Trace at a hockey game it is an instant attraction between the two. The chemistry between the two is electric but as soon as Trace learns that Jess is a parole officer he tries to put the brakes on their interactions. Since Trace is in the mafia he stays away from everything police related, but when their worlds start to collide Trace can no longer resist the attraction. I'm secretly hoping we get more of the secondary characters as well because they were amazing throughout this whole book. There are also subtle mentions of some other Tijan mafia characters in the book which just made it that much better.
🔹
This book is filled with so much angst and I was kept on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book as it went through a rollercoaster of emotions! I am so excited to see what happens in the second book because of that ending!! I didn't think the book was going to end on such a cliff-hanger leading up to the last few pages but Tijan leaves you wanting that second book as soon as possible.
I knew within three chapters that I would be finishing this book as soon as possible and I finished it within three hours, proving that. I loved Trace and Jess, and their entire story. I loved their meeting, the unknown connections between the two, the suspense, and everything about this story.
I have loved each Tijan book that I've read and none have come close to Fallen Crest with Mason and Sam, but Jess and Trace come close if not beating them out. The mafia storyline was written really well, and the twists and turns kept me hooked the entire time.
Jess and her relationships with the main characters are so good as well. I wanted to know more about Kelly, Val, Bear, and so many more. It added too much to the story and so few characters were one-dimensional, but their scenes never took away from the original plot, only added. Ashton and Trace's relationship was easily my favorite friendship of the book and how it affected both of their families and the waves it caused throughout the book.
A Dirty Business ends on a cliffhanger and I am curious whether Jess and Trace will be the main characters or if someone else will be. Waiting till April for this book will be one of the hardest waits for a book I've had in a while.
Mafia stories are my top favorite genre to read.
Threw in a sexy confident hero and a beautiful bad@$$ heroine and I’m all in.
Jess is a parole officer and excellent at her job. She prides herself on her sense of integrity and morals.
Because she grew up with a criminal father and a drunk mother. So she didn’t get her moral compass from them. But in spite of them.
On the weekends she works as a bartender for extra money.
She lives her life simply. But her life isn’t simple.
And one hockey game is about to change her life irrevocably and forever.
Trace is the nephew of the ruling West mafia family. He runs a legitimate business.
Which he’s a genius at. But when the family needs his services to take care of their problems he does.
He may do it reluctantly but his family is his top priority. What is asked he will do. What needs to be done will be taken care of.
And one hockey game is about to change his life irrevocably and forever.
I loved Trace and Jess.
Both are complicated characters because of who they are and who their families are.
I loved the intensity between Jess and Trace.
The minute their eyes meet at that life altering hockey game I could feel the magic start happening.
And from that point on it just increased and became more powerful.
The plot and storyline were gripping and I was consumed with it.
There was also mafia mayhem and mischief going on.
My heart was pounding wildly throughout the story and I think my blood pressure went up a couple of times too.
I was also left speechless when secrets and revelations were discovered.
I throughly enjoyed every moment and minute of reading this book.
And after that freaking stunning ending I will be better prepared for what’s coming next with not a glass of wine but the whole freaking bottle!
4 'I choose you' Stars!
ARC provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I believe this is my first full-length novel I’ve read by Tijan. I’ve wanted to read something by this author for quite a while now and I never got around to do it until early this year when I read an anthology she was participating in. When I saw her upcoming release on NetGalley, I didn’t doubt for a second and I decided to dive in. Now I can I say I really enjoyed the start of this new mafia series and I cannot wait to read more about all these characters!
So, A Dirty Business is the first installment in Tijan’s new series called Kings of New York. It’s a forbidden mafia romance between Trace West, a Wall Street suit and the heir to one of New York’s biggest Mafia families, and Jess Montell, a parole officer with a very complicated background. There is an instant connection when these two meet at a hockey game but things are about to get really complicated when they realize the opposite worlds they both live in. Is their chemistry too strong to ignore? You’ll have to read this and find out!
I wanted her, and for the first time in a long time, I was considering throwing out my rules.
For her.
I have to say, I was into this story from start to finish. I devoured it in just a day because this taboo romance was just addicting. The connection between Jess and Trace is so intense from the very start and, while it’s very difficult for them to accept and act on that chemistry, their feelings for each other are too powerful to ignore. Their relationship is not an easy one, there are many obstacles between this couple, mainly because of the differences of worlds they live in. However, they still fall in love and it was such a treat to read their love story.
I was choosing him. Be damned or not, I couldn’t hide anymore.
Let the cards fall where they fall.
Therefore, I am rating A Dirty Business with 4 STARS because I thoroughly enjoyed my first full-length novel by Tijan (even though she left it with a MAJOR cliffhanger!!!) and I cannot wait to read the second book. It looks like this series will be all about romantic suspense, intense chemistry and a whole lot of feels. I am here for it! I really enjoyed getting to know Trace and Jess and the whole crew of secondary characters. I hope we get more stories about them too, especially after that cliffhanger at the end, gah!
3.5 / 5 Stars!
I absolutely adore a lot of Tijan's books, and I did absolutely love the plot concept of this book. I thought a PO and a future mafia boss was a great and unique concept for a plot. I hit the ground running, and I absolutely adored the angst and the build between these two. I loved the character growth and development between these two as well. I struggled to invest into their relationship after the first half of the novel though. There was all this forbidden love, which I am totally here for, then back and forth angst of "yes, but I can't." I think I felt like they 'fade to black' slept together multiple times while trying to figure out how to be together with little relationship growth, dating, or get to know one another communication between the two. This might be because they both had the capability to 'search' one another, but it took away from the relationship building and sweet tender moments together. I loved the ending! It was surprising and gut wrenching. I loved the plot twists and the small interconnections between characters.
This book is great for those who like a lot of angst, forbidden love, and mafia romances. Expect a lot of plot twists and a unique plot.
