I flew this book was amazing I flew threw the pages with Olympic speed I was hooked from the very first page. WOW!! Just wow!!… Mind-blowing, jaw-dropping, gripping… Once you pick up the book you just can’t put it down… Well done Daniel !
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of The Intruder by Daniel Hurst.
Oh man. This took a TURN that I was not expecting!
Maria and William are experiencing their first disgruntled employee in the most terrifying way imaginable. He has broken into their home and abducted them. David feels like he was accused falsely and fired and is desperate for revenge, but has he gone in over his head with his methods?
I really don't want to say a whole lot lest I spoil, but like I said, I wasn't expecting it to go in the direction that it did. I found it fresh, although I did feel like it slowed down a bit too much after such a strong start. Having said that, dang! It was a good example of how deeply people can hold their secrets.
The Intruder will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish! William and Maria seem to have it all - a great marriage, two children, a beautiful house and a very successful business. David is an ex-employee out for revenge. He lost his job and everything fell apart and now he wants William and Maria to pay. So many twists and turns you won't know what's going to happen next
I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK! Wow. What a DELICIOUSLY F*CKED UP fun ride this was! I flew through the pages. Daniel Hurst NEVER fails to deliver. He has a witty way of shaping these characters, where even the most unlikable ones can make you laugh. The Intruder… hm, I expected simply some sick/crazy person breaking in but N O P E, this turned out to be so much more messed up than that.
A couple, William and Maria, married business partners who run a successful business together, find themselves at the hands of a disgruntled employee out for revenge. It’s deeper than that though, way deeper. Who is the person to REALLY be afraid of? Is it someone breaking in, or is it the person right next to you… who’s already inside? 😳
A good story with a fast pace and decent twist.
The characters were well written and the plot was immersive and had me on the edge of my seat.
The normalised setting with apparently normal people made for a dark novel but one I was happy reading!

I hate giving bad reviews, and I may be in the minority with my views on The Intruder by Daniel Hurst, as this book seems to have many good reviews. I started this book thinking it would be a quick, easy thriller. I had so much trouble getting in to the book that I almost gave up, something I almost never do. I persevered and unfortunately found the book just wasn’t one I could recommend.
The story is about Maria and William, a seemingly happy married couple who have it all, wonderful children, a beautiful home, and a growing business where they work together.
A disgruntled ex-employee named David, invades their home one night and discovers all is not as happy as it seems. By the time he realizes who Maria and William really are, it may be too late.
Good premise but poor execution, no likable characters, and unbelievable storyline. I did enjoy the short chapters, which alternated between the main characters point of views.
Even though this one just wasn’t for me, I want to thank #Netgalley, #Inkubator books, and Daniel Hurst for providing an eARC. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
not the best I've ever read but definitely a good book that's interesting enough to keep u reading and written well
I had high hopes for this book but i couldnt get into the story. It seemed predictable and dragged on to me.
Maria and William are quite the couple. They have a successful business together, a beautiful home and two darling children. From the outside looking in, they seem to have the perfect life. However, the grass is not always greener on the other side and appearances can be deceiving. There are so many things that go unspoken and so many secrets lurking in the shadows. What’s done in the dark typically comes to the light, and that is the case here, as well. Lots of twists and turns leading up to a great ending. I love the writing style of Daniel Hurst and the crazy things that happen in his books. You will enjoy this quick, fun read. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.
3.5 rounded up to 4.
What I like about Daniel Hurst's books is that they are straight to the point. There's so many of these types of books are so drawn out with unnecessary detail where as his books aren't. The Intruder was an addictive read. For a while you don't know who's side you're on but it was obvious where part the plot was going early on. With a very satisfying ending I would definitely recommend this book and will look forward to reading more by Mr. Hurst in the future.
I loved this book. I did think it was a bit far fetched in places but that didn't stop it being a brilliant story. I cant wait for the next book from this talented author.
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read an ARC
A great read from Daniel Hurst. Maria and William lead the seemingly perfect life and run a highly successful business. That is until David, a disgruntled ex-employee turns up. A taught and well written thriller.

Thank you to NetGalley, Inkubator Books and especially Daniel Hurst for my first ever ARC!
I enjoyed this book: it was fast-paced and had some unexpected twists. Initially I was put off by some rather formal language and unnecessarily wordy descriptions but it became much better after the first section.
I really enjoyed the surprises and I thought William’s character was particularly well-written. Maria could have been more emotional; to me it was clear that she’d been written by a man.
A nice quick entertaining read.
First read by this author but definitely not my last! Thriller that I couldn't stop reading until I finished!!! What a great book!
Start reading THE INTRUDER by Daniel Hurst and you will quickly be drawn into this cat-and-mouse story. William and Maria appear to have it all – a loving marriage, two young children, a beautiful home, luxury auto and successful, profitable ad agency. They have worked together to achieve their dreams until suddenly, things begin to unravel due to a disgruntled ex-employee. Who is in the wrong? One thing I kept thinking is if something seems too good to be true, it probably isn’t, and that applies to the couple in this story. There are enough clues and twists to keep you wondering just how it will end. I enjoyed reading this novel that was better than I expected.
The Intruder by Daniel Hurst is a fast-paced thriller with some surprising twists. Maria and William are married with kids and own a successful business together. But one of their ex-employees is holding a grudge, and he invades their home and abducts them. He soon finds out that he is in over his head, and many secrets are revealed. This story was a fun, entertaining read. Thanks to NetGalley for the free digital review copy. All opinions are my own.
Daniel Hurst never fails to entertain me. I love his writing style and his characters are ones you either love or hate. Looking forward to his new release coming soon. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this well written book.
The Intruder was a quick read and full of surprises. Another solid thriller from start to finish from this author. At times a little far fetched but not enough to spoil it.
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Wow, what a cleverly drafted story this book is.
I haven't been very lucky with the stand alone thrillers I read over the last months, but Daniel Hurst's books sounded like good reads, so I decided to give this one a try. At first I found it not as dense as most of the thriller/police procedural series I love, but something kept me reading. It was a solid read and I thought I would give it 4 stars. Then, at about 60 % in, the story seemed to come to an end, but turned in another direction instead - and from there on the suspense increased until the climax in the last 10% of the book and my rating jumped from 4 to 5 stars. The different points of view and the different timelines let the reader get into the characters' thoughts and motivations, make them three-dimensional and drive the story forward adding to the suspense.
All in all, this is a gripping and twisty story filled with lies, secrets and deceit which I can recommend to fans of psychological thrillers.
Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for my copy of this book.

Interesting story - I liked the different POV's but in the end it was kind of predictable. Better than some of the other books I have read by Daniel Hurst.
