This book kept me up late, I had to know what was going to happen. It's crazy how someone can be stalked and not know that it is happening. My worst fear is someone breaking into my house and being kidnapped. If you like suspense, I would highly recommend this book. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC. I will definitely being reading more from this author.

I’m going to be 100% honest. I did not care for this book. I thought it was too predictable and felt like I knew exactly what was gonna happen next almost every time there was a “twist.” If you can call them that… the characters were very unlikeable and this story just didn’t give me what I needed from it. It was fast paced but the predictability was just not what I was hoping for with this thriller.

I received a free epub copy from NetGalley!

I felt like this could have been two separate short stories instead of one novel. The first part involving David and the second involving William. William was a very despicable character and I truly got tired of reading his perspective. I felt really bad for Maria and everything that she had to discover after the fact.

This was an okay thriller novel, but I felt like the suspenseful aspect wasn't that strong and the way Maria tiptoed around the issue didn't fit the co-ceo vibe that was her character.

This book was everything I look for in a book. It was so exciting. The plot was fantastic. It really had me on the edge of my seat, and my heart racing. It was very well written and flowed well.

Lies. Murder. Betrayal. Attempted murder. (No harm to kids). This book. Omg. I had it done in a day because I could not put it down. Loved the way it was written. Soon as a new omg twist, the next chapter would go back in time as to say "let me tell me how we got there".
The ending it great. But it does leave it open for more. Love this author so I will continue thru his work.

"I’ve made it easy for an intruder. And now they are in, anything could happen."

A rich couple are being hunted by their disgruntled employee. He wants revenge and he knows the best way to get it is to hit them where it hurts, where they're most vulnerable--at home.

Nothing is as it seems and he said/she said turns into pure manipulation. So many secrets and twists. A solid thriller with an unexpected ending.

ARC provided:

This book was ok. I feel as if the pros and cons list to reading it very much balance out. Lets start with the good... It was a very fast read. It had that hook quality in which I didn't want to put it down. I love a morally askew character as much as the next person, and this book had some great characters in that sense.

Where I think the book fell short... I think that some of the writing, especially in the beginning of the book, was a little immature. It lacked some definite complexity. While following David, one of the main character of the story, there was a moment where he was speaking in the most basic sentences. "I am wearing a wig and glasses. It is my disguise. I have a knife. It will help me later." Something like that. However this didn't last for long, and the writing style fixed itself in later chapter. I think that it also lacked a "wait.. WHAT" type of twist. Not that every book needs that, but I think this book attempted to have it, but when the twist came I went "oh. ok yeah that makes sense".

The other thing I will say is that I felt like the first half of the book and the second half of the book felt like different stories. The storyline with David and the storyline with Maria and William at the end, while connected, felt very separate. Each story was good in its own sense, but I feel like to be great the each needed more time/pages to be fleshed out into full stories on their own. I just feel like if this story is going to be called "The Intruder" the book should have focused more on... well... the intruder. That part happened very early on in the book and while it wasn't forgotten about, it just didn't seem that pivotal.

I think the pacing of this book was spot on though. The author's writing style fit the style of thriller that I enjoy. I want my thriller books to move fairly quickly. I think a fast=paced triller allows you to get more sucked into the plot which only increases how much you mentally/physically you react to the twists.

At the end of the day though, it was an enjoyable read and I would read stories written by this author again. It was fast and fulfilled a good rush of a suspense/thriller for a day.

- [ ] Another great book by Daniel Hurst. He is so wonderfully capable of turning one crazy situation into something completely opposite. Maria and William seem to have it all-an awesome business, perfect home life and people that like them. One night changes all that we view of this power couple. One night that exposes one of the couple as a chameleon. One night to forever change our view of the perfect couple. I read one of this authors book a few months ago and I was hooked. Read this book if you like a good story with a twist.

The Intruder is another great book from Daniel Hurst! He has a knack for writing quick paced thrillers with lots of twists and turns.

At first, William and Maria seem like the perfect union - a high powered couple that have managed a work-life balance. Despite their late evenings at the office, they still manage movie nights with the kids and date nights with each other. They seem likeable enough. But then a disgruntled employee is driven to revenge, and William's secrets start to unravel.

I love how Hurst portrays Maria as a totally devoted wife, an equal partner in the company, but completely clueless - until she has reason not to be. She's quick-thinking and savvy enough to realize there's something afoot! William's confidence and dependence on his charm quickly devolves to bring us to a satisfying conclusion.

Thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for an advance reader's copy.

I really enjoyed this book by Daniel Hurst. The story is told from the perspective of William and Maria, a married couple with a successful business and home life. They seem to have it all, but all is not as it seems.. Full of twists and turns to keep you guessing.

Twisty. This book definitely took a turn. A bit different than what the blurb indicates. David wants revenge. Things go very astray. The husband and wife have a lot of secrets. I found the end pretty satisfying, but I like it when the bad act there their comeuppance.

The Intruder is the latest thriller from Daniel Hurst. I’m a fan of his books having read most of them. This one centers around a man, David, who kidnaps his ex-bosses that had fired him months earlier. Maria and William own a successful ad agency and David wants revenge for his life being ruined. That’s about all I can say as the story takes a major turn quite early on and nothing is as it seems. It was a quick read and full of surprises. Another solid thriller from Hurst.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

.This book has everything a good thriller should have - secrets, lies, betrayal, cheating husband, missing persons, threats, kidnapping and murder. I loved the way it went back to what occurred before, so you understood the present. William & Maria are successful business partners living a life of luxury. But things are not as they seem. An employee is fired due to a harassment complaint, and he seeks revenge for being falsely accused. Then the story takes off and you never can guess what will happen next. This is a real thriller right from start to finish. I'm sure it will be a best seller and keep readers involved. I would give it 5 stars.

Maria and William seem to have it all. Two happy children. A beautiful house. A thriving business. But when their home is invaded by David, an ex-employee with a score to settle, the couple face a terrifying fight to survive. During the course of one hellish night, David picks apart their carefully constructed life. Secrets are unraveled, truths revealed. And soon David begins to wonder if he's bitten off more than he can chew - because he's discovering Maria and William are not the defenceless couple he imagined.

This book has that many twists my head was spinning. filled with lies, secrets and deceit, I had to keep reading to find out if anyone was speaking the truth. The characters were well developed, complex and interesting. The story is told from multiple points of view. The action starts quickly and doesn't stop until the end. The suspense builds throughout. It's also told in different timelines - the present day, three days earlier and six/seven months ago. This is a quick and easy book to read. Once you've started this book, you won't want to put it back down.

I would like to thank #Netgalley #InkubatorBooks and the author #DanielHurst for my ARC of #TheIntruder in exchange for an honest review.

This book was sent to me by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher for the electronic copy. Secrets and lies…love and marriage..friendship…a business… careers…children…this book was written by a talented and gifted author. The story was easy to follow despite the different characters speaking in the chapters…red herrings…I guessed what might be going on but was not sure…the main character…savvy…smart…wise…on to her husband…he was not a likable character at all. Leaving a door unlocked…wow…that one small act…started an avalanche of events…murder and mayhem…intrigue…this is a good mystery…

David seeks revenge against his former employers after he feels he's been wrongly terminated and had his life ruined! But, he soon discovers that taking down Maria and William may not be as easy as he thought as they aren't as easy to take down as he thought! As The Intruder, David opens up a whole other world of the seemingly perfect couple!

The Intruder was an intense well written page turner! In the first quarter of the book, I was worried that it was going to be a mundane and repetitive account of David kidnapping Maria and David just to fill pages but it was anything but! At times a little far fetched which kept it at 4 stars for me but still a very entertaining read that I would recommend to any thrill seekers!

Thank you Netgalley for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!
