I've been learning a lot about the spiritual world lately and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It gave me a new way to use my deck and a deeper connection to the cards. I enjoyed this a lot and would recommend.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me this eARC to review. Sadly the content within this book is not good for my mental health which I did not realise at the time so I am very sorry for that! I will give this 3 Stars as I couldn't review it properly. Apologies again!
Loved this book!
Made something that can be scary like the tarot, relatable and straightforward.
We will definitely be buying this in the library, especially around the whole new age revival that is happening at the moment.
I'll admit that I expected another repeat of similarly titled books with Sam Magdaleno's The Tarot Spellbook but was very pleasantly surprised to find a unique and beautifully done addition to my library. The modern twist of the art makes it accessible, breaking down the base elements included on each card in each deck so you can identify key points of the card regardless of which deck you're using. It's so user friendly, I feel like it would be accessible enough for a beginner and I certainly enjoyed it at my intermediate level. Not only is the art accessible but it's stunning and diverse, something missing from classic tarot decks and books.
And impressive balance of spells, history, and tarot knowledge- this is one I'd highly recommend to anyone who enjoys working with the cards.
A good book to bring to own tarot work and spellwork together. It is easy to understand and a good starting point.
This was such a beautifully crafted book from the art to the writing and everything in between. I really enjoyed this one and the setup through the book. It was really a cool way to utilize your tarot deck to its fullest potential — as well as your own!
Such a unique and creative idea presented here! Not only were the spellwork ideas really interesting, but I learned a lot about the tarot cards as well - very useful book. Loved the artwork, loved the writing style, pretty much loved this book from cover to cover.
As someone who still does not yet own a tarot deck (I know, I know. "Why would you read a book about using a tarot deck for a spellbook when you don't own a deck?" BECAUSE I'M INTERESTED!), this was super insightful in helping me learn what each card in the deck is used for and really made me want to buy my own deck and then purchase a copy of this book so that I can use the spells in the future! 2023 is going to be the era of my becoming a real witch, and this is just the starting block. I'm so excited!
A beautiful book and great for those unfamiliar with Tarot. It was helpful to get more of idea of what it is about and how to use the cards in various ways.
This is such a unique alternative use of tarot cards! It gives you the meaning and a spell to use in a practical way. The artwork is beautiful and it’s easy to read and understand.
I´ve always been curious to pick up a tarot based book and this one was perfect to begin with. I found it very helpful to get a good grasp of what tarot is about and how to use it the best way we can. Overall a very informative and insightful read for those who practice the craft or want to learn more about this theme.
I simply adore how the book is made. The visuals are really appealing and modern as well are the spells.
It's extremely well written and provides an unique way into tarot.
A book for every modern witch with spells you can actually use.
Introduction to Tarot and Witchcraft.
Have you ever been curious about Tarot OR Witchcraft and been uncertain where to begin?
This is an excellent user-friendly guide to both. While you do not need to practice Wicca to benefit from this guide, it provides an insightful introduction to things like moon cycles, elements, and sigils.
There are 78 guided spells/meditations in total. One for each card in your standard tarot deck, delving into the meaning of the card and its benefits. Bonus! There are even guided journal prompts to help you deepen your connection to your favorite deck.
I highly recommend this work for new and seasoned practitioners alike. It can be used as a reference, inspiration, or simply a way to reconnect with the basics of your craft.
Definitely planning to purchase and sticky note the ever-loving moonlight out of this one.

Was very helpful. Found for my writing. Trying to create a witch character and this book was extremely helpful on tarot. Not sure who is reccomed this book. 5 star book. Didn't take long to read.
I haven't picked a book up on Tarot Cards/Readings in many years so was very interested in looking at The Tarot Spellbook by Sam Magdaleno. Firstly this book is beautifully illustrated, I found the card images so enticing and almost relaxing. It wasn't heavy on my eyes or distracting which I found in previous books I had read (Way back when I should add!).
Each card is broken down in a way I could understand, but I admit I'd like to have known more on the actual card too. To explain, its like sitting down to eat a piece of cake you just made. You taste the cake and it tastes really good. But have no knowledge of how you made it, no recipe to make it again. I hope that makes sense? What I loved were the spells though. Using Tarot this way is something I had never heard of before. As I have quite an interest in crystals, reiki and meditation this aspect really appealed to me. I'm not sure how much I would practice it, but as I said its something I never knew about before. I also liked the journal questions too, this was a nice addition to the book.
I will say I don't feel my review will do The Tarot Spellbook justice. I read this book on a digital copy and I feel a physical copy would be much better. So, maybe I'll add this one to my Christmas list and get someone to buy it for me! A solid 4 stars, this would make a lovely Christmas gift for someone with an interest in Tarot.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Fair Winds for allowing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I received an ARC of this ebook by the publisher via Netgalley in an exchange for an honest review.
Concise and to-the-point, The Tarot Spellbook is a good addition to the libraries of any tarot readers who want to use the cards as conduits. A tarot deck is made up of archetypes that run the gamut of life experiences and so they can be a powerful tool. I was also happy to see an index in the back that divided up the spells into different categories. It'll make it easier to search if you're not quite sure which card is the right one for what you're trying to achieve.
4 out of 5 stars
This book was super neat. The Tarot Spellbook is categorized into one of eight popular spell categories: self, change, love, money, career, wellness, protection, and home. It basically covers all aspects of life. I love that it has questions to answer to further the thought into each one. Recommend for sure!
I really enjoyed the history of Tarot that opened the book. It was a bit hard to follow due to the formating of the ebook, but I imagine in a physical copy this would not be an issue. I liked the index in the very back. The book being divided by arcana made for a nice flow. It was a great review for what the cards represented and manifest. Some of it was a little bit hard to follow but easy enough for any reader to figure out. I really enjoyed the importance that self was placed within this book.
Nice simple layout. I like that there is a spell for each card. It is a nice way to even just organize spells since each card touches on something different.
