Thank you Netgalley for letting me read and review this book. "Ancient Mongolia is the stage for the latest epic adventure in the award-winning Assassin’s Creed® universe, as assassin Shao Jun fights a sinister plot that spells the downfall of the Brotherhood of the Assassins"
If you enjoy Assassin's Creed you should read this! There's an intriguing story and good characters to follow.
Assassin's Creed The Desert Threat is a great follow-up to the original, The Ming Storm. The Eastern influenced story is super interesting to read for someone who had only been exposed to Western novels in the past and learning about ancient China and the history of the people is great. As an Assassin's Creed fan, this title expands on the fan favorite character, Shao Jun in a non-canonical story that still provides what I believe to be a look at the character's beliefs and mindset that should be included in the series' universe canon.
another great look into shao juns world the author has done an amazing job at creating a world that is vibrant and alive
Thank you to Aconyte Books and NetGalley for this ARC! This review was voluntarily written by me.
In general, I really love this book! There are several new characters in this book who really helped in Shao Jun’s journey and the action scenes are cool. Like, the description of the action scenes really help me to visualize them and I feel like I am watching action movies or drama. For me, it is the strength of this book. Plus, I just remembered a Chinese drama when reading some scenes because of some similarities in several scenes (maybe due to the place in the story) and it really helps in visualizing the story. There are some references to the previous installment but in my opinion, it doesn't really affect the storytelling. For me, I would recommend this book for anyone that likes action-filled books.
This was an enjoyable story that was interesting to read. I read through first book in this series and loved it. This on for me fell rather short for me. It felt as if this book was more of a historical fiction book and lacked the excitement in the action scenes and there was less of them. I still enjoyed reading it and glad I had read it. I liked the characters and there development I just didn't connect with them the way I love doing. It was still very well wrote and flowed well. I still recommend it to assassin Creed fans you could always try a sample as my average rating could be your 5 star read.
Many thanks to the author for creating an enjoyable read. My only wish was that it was much more action packed. I still learnt so amazing culture that is always a plus for me.

In general I really like the Assassin's Creed novels but this one was not one of my favourites.
It takes place in Ancient Mongolia in 16th century CE and our main hero Shao Jun is the main focus of the story. The book is action packed but as with the previous one of this series I am really confused by the names and their roles. It is full of political intrigue and it is well written, which I really enjoyed.
The further I got in the book the better it got for me. With this being a sequel to Ming Storm there was a lot of context that I was missing because I haven't read that book yet so I had a hard time getting into what was going on. As the story went on I found myself loving how Yan Leisheng was able to take Ancient Chinese philosophy and interject it into Assassin's Creed. I also enjoyed the idea of exploring the precursor box that Ezio gave Shao Jun the only downside with that though is this novel is listed by UbiSoft as noncannon. I also want to know if The Society of the Mind is a historical Chinese group or if it's just what the Assassin's called themselves. So when I add all this together I put the novel right in the middle of what I enjoy and what I expect from an Assassin's Creed novel.
A fun book, easy to read and exciting. Written a bit younger than I was expecting but still good. I'm not too familiar with AC overall and was able to follow along easily.
As always I want to start by saying that I was given a copy of this to review. My review is honest and left voluntarily and avoids spoilers. #AconyteBooks #TheDesertThreat #YanLeisheng #AssassinsCreedNovel #Netgalley
The Desert Threat sees Yan Leisheng continue their masterful exploration of Shao Jun in this Assassin’s Creed novel. I adored the Ming Storm which highlighted the skill and mastery Leisheng has over creating a superb tie in and The Desert Treat continues this tradition, arguable taking it to new heights. I have always loved the Assassin’s Creed universe but Leisheng truly brings it to life, capturing with great historical accuracy the world that was.
Leisheng blends action, adventure, intrigue and character depth into a superb novel that is hard to put down. The writing flows beautifully and it is easy to get carried away into the world Shao Jun lives. This book is a must for lovers of historical fiction, intrigue, super characters and of course the Assassin’s Creeds universe. It is hard to comment more on the plot without spoilers but I must say you will not be disappointed by this one, one bit!
The Desert Threat
A well-known series and a well written book to accompany it. I was impressed with the descriptive work which set the scence in this book. A-Qian has a with his big sister and this is shown through. Yan Leisheng focuses on Shao Jun in this Assassin's Creed novel series, building on a good foundation to once again deliver a great reading experience. With fluid dialogue and an engaging story, it's definitely something to read over and over again.

As the second book focusing on Shao Jun in this Assassin's Creed novel series, Yan Leisheng builds on a superb foundation to once again present a superb reading experience. With fluid dialogue and a captivating story that is definitely something to read and re-read. A magnificent sequel and just as well-rounded as its predecessor.
I really love the assassins creed games so I was a little worried I wouldn’t like this book.
I was not disappointed the writing was beautifully done and the world was spot on I’m really glad I requested the ARC.
