The Sweetheart Fix is a sweet contemporary small town romance. I love contemporary romances like this because I know I'm going to get a cute story, an adorable setting, characters who you want to root for and a sweet romance. These books are what Hallmark movies are based on and I'm here for it.
The Sweetheart Fix is book two in the Blossom Glen series but it can be read as a standalone. Juliet loves her small town except she's a marriage and family counselor who has a very public breakup that no one wants to forget. So when the new mayor enlists her to help the community solve issues sparks start to fly with him... but can she risk her heart again?.
I really liked Juliet and Jack. This had cute enemies to friends to lovers vibes. All you want in cute small town and fun characters.
If you're a fan of contemporary romance check out the Blossom Glen series!
Juliet Montgomery works as a couples counselor in Blossom Glen, Indiana. She is excited about her work, but clients are put off by her own personal track record - which includes three (or two point five, according to Juliet!) messy public break ups. When Juliet goes to appeal a parking ticket, she gets pulled in to help settle a dispute over a tree. This all happens at Mayor Jack Monroe's office. He offers Juliet a part-time job settling conflicts for the Mayor's office. Juliet and Jack are as different as night and day, but sparks fly every time they are together.
I wanted to read this novel because I love small town settings, and this sounded like a cozy, enjoyable read. I had not read Miranda Liasson before (my mistake -- now I have to catch up with her books!). This is the second book in the Blossom Glen series but it reads as a standalone. I have not read the first book and had no problem jumping in and enjoying this book.
Juliet is a great book protagonist - smart, sassy, and good hearted. She wants so much to overcome her past romantic foibles in the town's eyes. Jack is an appealing book boyfriend, and the book comes alive every time they are in a scene together.
This was such an fun book. It is well written, with lively characters and a charming small town that is almost another character in the book. I can easily see this novel as a Hallmark movie. It would be perfect!
I recommend The Sweetheart Fix for fans of women's fiction, small town romance, and comforting, upbeat books -- perfect for a weekend read!
I really like this book it was a beautiful small town read I really love Miranda and her books and can't wait to read more of them. :) her writing style is amazing,
Cute rom-com about Jack and Juliet, beloved residents of Blossom Glen. Pretty clean romance with some funny and heartwarming moments.
Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the arc.
I was delighted to return to Blossom Glen, a small town where everyone knows everyone else and everyone else’s business.. Juliet has just started her new job as a counselor, but when the couple brings up her failed romances she ended up being put on leave. She goes to City Hall where she comes in contact with the mayor, Jack. After helping him to quickly resolve some issues between residents, he offers her a part time job. Jack is trying to save his grandmother’s property from developers. As sparks fly between them, they have both decided it is not a good time for a relationship. You really need to read this fantastic book!
I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley and the author, however, I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
Favorite Quotes:
“If you really think you have a magic wand,” he said, gesturing to the two men, “have at it.” “I sure do, Mayor Jack.” She smiled sweetly and swirled her hand around in a spell-making gesture. “It also happens to match my broomstick.”
The man never lifted a finger to help anyone in his life. But he could sweet-talk a chicken across a five-lane highway.
Parents did devilish things to each other to get their kids into his class. One year some mom had broken into the office and erased a child’s name off the waiting list so her kid could move up. Who knew Blossom Glen Elementary’s kindergarten could be so cutthroat?
Juliet was never late. Except she did have a tendency not to show up at her weddings.
My Review:
This fun and well-paced small-town contemporary romance featured two well-known characters within their community who started off sparring with each other on the job as well as battling their histories and personal issues while trying to save face. They soon discovered they worked well together on and off the job and righted themselves in the process. The storylines were easy to follow and entertaining with a minimum of contrived conflict as well as amusing carryover and involvement of the endearing characters featured from the first installment, and topped off with a sweet and satisfying ending. There is one more sister to go, I have a feeling her issues are going to be far more complicated.
a great small ton romance. Juliet has a lot to overcome in her small town. Jack is the grumpy mayor. Juliet helps Jack reign in the town, at his daily meetings. THey learn a lot from each other.
Romance, humor, a quick read
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.
This book is super cute. Miranda manages to write fade to black romances that are beautiful and touching, with well developed characters and intriguing plotlines. This one is about Juliet Montgomery, a marriage and family therapist who is struggling with her own love life (and subsequently can't see clients because of it - small town charm anyone?), and Jack Monroe who cannot seem to talk about emotions to save his life though he needs to be able to express himself if he wants to save his Granny's land from getting turned into a golf course. If this isn't the most small town USA story ever, I don't know what to tell you, but it is quite sweet. Juliet and Jack have banter that is so fun, and their relationship develops in a way that makes sense. Since this is the second book in the series (there is a book that takes place in the same city about Juliet's older sister), it is nice to see how all of the characters are interconnected and work together. I hope there is another book about the last sister, and in general I look forward to Miranda's next book.
This book was not something I could even finish reading. I was unable to connect with the characters and the storyline was really hard to get engaged with. I was a little disappointed to be honest.
This is a Romance, and this is the second book in the Blossom Glen series. I have read and reviewed the first book in this series, but I think this book can be read has a standalone without any problems. This book was slow to get going, and I took a while to get into the storyline. Once, I was pulled into the story I really enjoyed the book. I did love the characters in this book. Overall, this book was a cute and fun read with great characters that I totally fell in love with. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Entangled: Amara) or author Miranda Liasson) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
After reading The Sweetheart Deal, my expectations were super high and the second in series The Sweetheart Fix did not disappoint me.
A very good read (though a part of series, can be read as a standalone). I thoroughly enjoyed it.
4.5 bright stars for an enjoyable read.
Thoroughly enjoyed thus sweet small town romance. Juliet has had problems with romances and his now a couples counselor, after her first day she has failed and is now going to work in city building as a town counselor along side the mayor, Jack. Jack is grumpy and just wants to fix things in the town, especially the sale of his grandma's property. Jack does not do relationships, but as Jack and Juliet work side by side, a slow build romance begins.
I love this small mid western town that everyone knows everyone and helps each other. I really like the romance between Juliet and Jack, how they learned to let things go from their past.
This is the second book in the series but can be read as a stand alone. I'm hoping there is a third book coming!! I highly recommend this book.
In the end, I thought this book was cute and fun and I enjoyed reading it. I must admit though, that it took me a bit in the beginning to get into it. I really enjoyed the characters and the setting. I thought Juliet and Jack were very great together, and there are plenty of smiles it feels to be enjoyed as their story unfolds.
When Juliet’s ability to successfully counsel couples is being questioned due to her romantic past, she finds herself on a leave of absence. The decision of what to do during this time is answered when she is able to negotiate a disagreement at a town meeting and Jack, the mayor, offers her a job.
Jack’s decision to put his career on hold and become the mayor is twofold as he wants to help the town, but he really wants to help his grandmother. Being distracted by what he perceives as trivial disputes was not what he signed up for and Juliet is the solution to that problem however it isn’t long before their professional relationship starts to feel personal.
This is a heartwarming and humorous story as Juliet and Jack realize they make the perfect partners in love and life and their friends and families only make their story that much better.
Thank you Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This novel was the sweetest small town romance. Juliet and Jack went through the usual dating process, with struggles along the way. The way it was handled kept my interest. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
Juliet Montgomery has a graduate degree in marriage and family therapy. Her boss tells her that a client has complained about her saying that since Juliet has had three failed engagements, people are skeptical of her counseling them.
Juliet lives in Blossom Glen, Indiana. Her mother, grandmother, and sister run a Boulangerie and her other sister works for a Christmas shop. They are a very close family and share everything.
Jack Monroe is a trained architect from Texas but is currently living in Blossom Glen and working as the Mayor. He is hoping to save his grandmother’s land from being auctioned and developed by a wealthy man who wants to turn the cozy little town into a busy little metropolis.
When Juliet heads to the court house to sort out a parking ticket, she encounters Jack who ends up asking her to be the town counselor helping to resolve disputes among the citizens of the town. They butt heads at first but that quickly turns into an attraction that just cannot be denied.
This is a sweet story with some great humor and food for thought. It makes us realize that we all may have faults but they can be overcome. The warm family atmosphere in this book surrounds the reader with love. I haven’t read the earlier books in this series but I can bet reading them one at a time would be such fun.
Copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
The sweetness from this story was the perfect read for this autumn season. It gives me all the vibes of Stars Hallow and Bluebell (Hart of Dixie), set in a small town, with lots of whimsical characters, and a sweet warming romance. I loved all the little side characters in this town, the town is so charming. Juliet and Jack are so cute together, this is a fade to black romance. Perfect for Hallmark Channel romance lovers, it was the novel that got me into the Autumn mood.
Juliet is a couple’s therapist in a small town in Indiana, Blossom Glen but she has a troubled past with her relationships. When her boss forces her to take sometime off, Juliet starts to work for the grumpy mayor (Jack) who lacks people skills. Juliet has the skills to smooth over problems that pop up in the small town, and Blossom Glen needed a certain pretty redhead therapist to help solve problems in the town and to melt the heart of Jack.
I loved this standalone novel in the Blossom Glen series, it was heart warming and I’m going to continue to read the series! I highly suggest this novel to anyone looking for a sweet autumn romance this season.
I did find the landlady of Juliet’s to be unrealistic in terms of her having control over if Juliet has a boy friend or men over. There is no way that the landlady would have that control and it’s so unfair to ask that of someone
Juliet is super nice to everyone and likewise is loved by all. Being from a small town has some advantages like knowing everyone but it comes with many disadvantages too. The main one is having no privacy, everyone knows you and all your business, both good and bad. When Juliet has to step back from counseling her clients, everyone in town knows it and the reason why. She's worked hard to get to the position she's in and is determined to work through this problem. She has a great deal of support from her family and friends. Jack has been around town for many years, has several close friends and is the Mayor of the town. He had a difficult childhood that's caused some problems with getting close to people and expressing his feelings. He and Juliet get thrown together during a town meeting and Jack sees how everyone responds to her and decides to hire her to help with the meetings. He's also trying to save his grandmother's property from a big town developer. These two are better together and have so much to give but will issues from the past get in the way? There's so many feels in this book! You laugh, you cheer and sometimes want to yell at them to stop being so darn stubborn! Quick fun read! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.
I have only read Miranda Liasson a few times before, but I’m sure glad I read THE SWEETHEART FIX! What a beautiful story! I’m very excited to read her previous books now. This absorbing story combines both the beautiful sensory details of a small town with heartfelt characters, a moving plot, and a story with so much depth. THE SWEETHEART FIX is a lovely read with characters I rooted for, and some lovely details that brought the town of Blossom Glen to life. I highly recommend this story if you need a complete escape from life. This is the second book in the Blossom Glen series but it can easily be read as a stand alone, which is what I did. Now I’m going to go back and read the first book, The Sweetheart Deal. As you are reading, you will feel as if a Great American Family movie is playing in your head.
THE SWEETHEART FIX explores family dynamics, loss, secrets, and a new romance! Miranda Liasson handles difficult topics that will have the reader cheering for everyone to succeed. When I started reading THE SWEETHEART FIX, I didn’t know I’d come to love it this much. Where to start? Juliet is a couples counselor and is supposed to start her new career, but couples have a hard time believing in her because of her past. Juliet is such a great character, full of life and warmth. I loved how she didn’t let her past troubles destroy herself completely. She struggles with her past, but she also tries to fix it. I am so happy that she made this choice. She grows and learns a lot about herself and life itself while taking on a new job. The interactions between all the characters in this small town, where everyone knows everyone else, are vividly told and enjoyable to read. Love, hope, second chances and the importance of community are the threads that bind this book together beautifully.
I don’t want to say too much for fear of giving away too much of THE SWEETHEART FIX, but once I started reading this beautiful and heart breaking story, I could not stop! The story of this small town and the residents is surely going to pull at your heart strings. Everyone should have this unforgettable book on their winter reading list. THE SWEETHEART FIX is a small town romance that the reader is surely going to fall in love with! I did not want this story to end! The dialogue between Juliet and Jack is sometimes funny and other times frustrating! They both have secrets and without letting them out, they will not be able to move forward. I was instantly emotionally invested in all of the characters from page one and I can not wait to read more by this wonderful and heart tugging author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from TLC and Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Jackson and Juliet are a couple to be reckoned with. As Mayor, he struggles with his personal communication skills. Juliet has had 3 engagements but remains unmarried. As a relationship therapist one of her first couples after joining the practice, questions her ability to provide realistic support based on her romantic history. She's put on hiatus and ends up as the Mayor's counselor.
Their initial meeting is like oil and water: they didn't mix, but after a heated counselor meeting where she provided the perfect solution, Jackson changes his mind. As their work relationship progresses they also begin to develop personal feelings for each other. But can Jackson and Juliet me ve beyond their love jaded pasts to forge a new relationship together?
Along the way you'll meet some old friends and some quirky inhabitants of this small Midwest town. Such an uplifting and fun book to read.
Although part of a series, it can be read as a standalone book. An ARC eBook was read and reviewed, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
