The Sweetheart Fix by Miranda Liasson
This is the story of Jack and Juliet - they both have problems with committing to a relationship - and work through their hang ups and baggage together. They live in the small town of Blossom Glen - with wonderful family and friends. There is angst, self doubt, self discovery, laughter, tears, coming together as a town and lots of love to get to their HEA.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Easy-to-read Entertaining Funny Great world building Happily Ever After Informative Page-turner Romantic Tear-jerker Wonderful characters.
Welcome back to Blossom Glen, the second installment in the series, The Sweetheart Fix. In book #2, we meet Juliet, a couple counselors, who has a reputation as a heartbreaker after three failed engagements. In her hometown, she can't escape the talk and doubts about her ability to serve as a therapist.
Along comes the honky-tonk Mayor, Jack, who enlists her help in restoring peace among neighbors throughout the community. A transplant from Texas, he's a big hunky man who wears his heart on his sleeve. His most endearing trait is his love of his grandma and pride for his town he calls home. These two characters go from enemies to friends to lovers in this sweet story which can be read as a stand alone in the series. It was great to see the happenings of characters from book one too...
Thank you Entangled Publishing for the complimentary copy of this novel.
The Sweetheart Fix by Miranda Liasson is a contemporary small town romance with great characters and some humorous situations. I enjoyed the main characters, Juliet and Jack. Their romance, unlikely as it was, made me laugh. Juliet’s landlady was funny.
The novel’s humor and characters are perfect for a small town romance. Everyone knows the gossip, everyone has an opinion and everyone wants the problems solved. Jack as the mayor has to learn how to navigate the problems and figure out how to solve them. Luckily Juliet seems to be able to solve them more easily than her own personal problems. Maybe this can be a match made in Blossom Glen, Indiana.
This is the second novel in a series of two (so far) and although I didn’t read the first one, I was able to follow this one with ease. The story did take a little time to warm up, but there were some great small town scenes to help it along. The Sweetheart Fix by Miranda Liasson was a good read.
When you grow up in a small town everyone knows your business. Every success, every failure, every boyfriend, every failed engagement. So when Juliet starts out as a relationship therapist, her past comes back to haunt her. Then there’s Jack. Mayor of the town who really only ran to get support for his grandmother’s land. He doesn’t have a way with words so his mediations between townspeople don’t get resolved. I love how Juliet couldn’t help herself from the get go when she inadvertently ended up at one of those said mediations and jumped right in to help resolve issues. It led to getting to know Jack and realizing they were more compatible than they thought. They both became more confident along the way and worked well together.
I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.
Juliet's a brand new therapist, and Jack's not confident with words or emotions. But he's the mayor and could use her help in arbitrating feuds. And she could use his help in restoring her reputation because being a therapist in a small town where everyone knows everything you have ever done is tough. Add in an aspect of forbidden because she's his best friend's -in-law, and it's a great setup.
I resonated with Juliet right from the beginning, as she stared at her pretty new desk and all of her organizers. I can relate to that feeling of finally being able to pursue what I want. And when it all looks set to go sideways,... this book got me feeling all the emotions.
Jack is such a fun character. He's a Texas cowboy living in small town Indiana. And while he's such a big, gruff guy in some ways, his heart is all for helping his grandmother and his town.
I loved how this book highlights the importance of kindness and neighbors. It has everything a sweet, small town romance should. It's closed door. And it's so lovely in highlighting and destigmatizing therapy. Although this is the second in the Blossom Glen series, it can be read as a stand alone.
Thank you to Entangled Amara and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. These opinions are my own.
Miranda Liasson continues to capture my heart with her Blossom Glen series. Juliette just wants to be the best therapist she can be, but her past hiccups with relationships makes people doubt her abilities. Jack, being the town mayor, struggles to connect with the townspeople of Blossom Glen, and enlists Juliette as the town counselor. As these two work side by side sparks fly. Juliette makes Jack feel things he never knew he could, and he begins to get closer to the people in the town he loves so much. As his granny's land gets the attention of a developer who wants to pretty much destroy it to bring in a golf resort, hotels, and chain restaurants, Blossom Glen and it's business owners are at risk of loosing everything they hold dear. Juliette must help Jack open himself up enough to encourage the people and the land commission to vote against letting the development happen. As Juliette falls more for Jack she not only grows as a person, but as a therapist as well. It was such a joy reading about these two characters, and revisiting the characters from the first book. Miranda Liasson writes beautiful, sweet romances that just gives you all the warm fuzzy feels of falling in love.
I enjoyed Juliet and Jack’s story in The Sweetheart Fix by Miranda Liasson, book two her Blossom Glen series. Juliet Montgomery’s plan to be a relationship counselor in her hometown of Blossom Glen, Indiana, is upended when her boss tells her that she just isn’t ready yet. It seems her past relationships have clients questioning her ability to counseling others when she hasn't quite figured out her own relationship issues. She is told to take some time to figure out how to deal with this situation. In the meantime she stumbles into a city meeting where the mayor, Jack Monroe, is hearing disputes. Being the person she is, she resolves things so well that the mayor offers her a part time job as the town counselor. Taking the job with Jack, really a fill in position as a mediator, Juliet had no idea what it would lead to. An architect by trade, Jack loves being mayor and wants only what is best for this small town; a caring, small town in Indiana. It is a community of people who care and look after each other; even if they are gossips and into everyone’s business. Jack has his own issues, still fearing abandonment after being left with his grandmother to be raised. It is because of his love for his grandmother that he became mayor; especially after learning that his grandmother’s beloved property was in trouble. As sparks fly between Juliet and Jack, she takes the time to discover why she is a people pleaser and how that led to her almost getting to the altar 2.5 times.
Ms. Liasson wrote a wonderful, entertaining, enjoyable romance that is a must read. Especially to understand the story behind a rush of Santa panties and Juliet’s connection to the town’s water tower. Then there’s Jack’s grandmother. Her kindness and generosity were exemplary and a good addition to the story. This is a sweet, emotional tale, filled with clever banter, good intentions, humor, and a quirky cast of secondary characters helping Juliet and Jack let go of their pasts to find the love they both deserved. I highly recommend The Sweetheart Fix to other readers and look forward to youngest sister Vivienne’s story.

Four and a Half Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭒
The Sweetheart Fix by Miranda Liasson is the second book in her popular Blossom Glen series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone book. I loved this small town, opposites attract story very much.
Story Recap:
Juliet Montgomery is a small-town couples therapist but after a very public breakup that hurts her credibility as a couples therapist.
Jack Monroe is the Mayor of Blossom Glen, and he loves his town and his job, except for the many petty disputes between neighbors. When Juliet accidentally finds herself in a city meeting, she helps to solve a dispute between bickering neighbors and Jack decides to hire her as a city therapist and help him with what he feels is the worst part of his job.
When Jack and Juliet start working together, they each find a new appreciation for their careers and each other.
My Thoughts:
I enjoyed returning to Blossom Glen for this new story. Jack and Juliet are both sympathetic and interesting characters, and completely different. Jack doesn’t like to talk to people, especially people who can’t get along, and Juliet is a social butterfly and loves to talk to people.
Blossom Glen is an adorable small town that I would like to live in. Jack is the kind of mayor I would want for my town, as he cares so much for his hometown. And Juliet is the kind of therapist I would enjoy.
The author does a wonderful job of putting both Jack and Juliet in interesting and sometimes embarrassing situations that add some comic relief to this sweet romance.
Recommendation:
I highly recommend The Sweetheart Fix to anyone who enjoys a sweet romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Grumpy mayor vs sunshiny therapist!
Therapist Juliet Montgomery was thrilled to be back in her hometown of Blossom Glen working at Headspace. First Juliet had to face her own issues with her failed engagements when things went wrong during her first couples counseling meeting.
Juliet wandered into the mayor’s forum where Mayor Jack Monroe was dealing with his own problems trying to mediate issues between townspeople with Juliet’s volunteer help. Maybe Juliet can help him figure out what to do while he tries to save his grandmother’s land.
The Sweetheart Fix has such a fun story with a grumpy mayor versus sunshiny therapist figuring out that love will solve all problems if they open their hearts.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Poignant, witty small-town romance; low steam but lots of passion
Don’t you just love small-town romances where everybody knows all the parties involved and how it’s going or not going in our lead female’s case? Juliet Montgomery has quite the reputation in Blossom Glen, Indiana. It started when she was only 3yo, twenty-eight years ago. She climbed a water tower and made the newspapers! After the death of her beloved father, she had a difficult time which set her on the trajectory that she finds herself on today. Now she has qualified as a marriage therapist but doesn’t handle a client’s personal remark well. Her new boss suggests she take some time to find herself. She prays for her father’s help but the cosmic response is Jack, mayor of Blossom Glen, best friends of her brother-in-law Leo and rigid, very by-the-book! Jack is exceptionally handsome, originally from Abilene, Texas, always wears his Stetson, can be charming but often says the wrong thing or the right thing in the wrong way. Juliet gets caught in a situation that catapults her to working for Jack. Jack may not be the man she thought he was. Or is he?
Love these small-town romances by Ms. Liasson. Now I must read Vivienne’s story. I hope it won’t be long before her story is out. If you like angsty enemies-to-lovers romance with a great group of secondary characters and times you want to stand up and applaud the result, you will want to try this low-steam but passionate book. I volunteered to review an ARC of it through Entangled/NetGalley.
Loved it. We are all a product of our past experiences. This couple had some emotional baggage. Wonderful family and friend relationships. Also small town helpfulness and insight. A few tears may be shed.
This is a lovely ‘opposites attract’ themed romance. It’s set in the kind of cosy small town we all secretly dream off living in, with all the inherent issues of everyone caring for each other but also knowing all the details of each others’ lives. For Juliet, this causes some professional problems, given that she’s a therapist with a less than ideal relationship track record. Jack on the other hand, has trouble relating to others effectively, which is a problem as he’s the town’s mayor. Both have mile high walls up and are very guarded about trusting a potential partner. The story of Juliet and Jack’s relationship is nicely complimented by amusing secondary characters such as his grandmother and the other townspeople. It’s a sweet and emotional romance, with plenty of gentle humour that makes for a fun and relaxing read.
I liked this story it was such a good story. This author defiantly took the bull by the horns and ran with it and she took on a subject that most authors don't seem to touch, mental health. I really like Juliet she may have struggled and living in a small town she where she was under the microscope but she was a fighter and always willing to continue to grow and learn and help those she comes across wanting what's best for everyone. Jack was a bit much some times, it's like he truly did not want to open up about anything,. I loved his grandma she was so sweet and full of so much wisdom. I really liked this group of friends and family, it goes along with blood doesn't make you family but we choose family. I can't wait to see where the author takes this group next. The author did keep this book fairly clean, so may be suitable for all readers. This book was a fun read and well worth the read.
It was great to go back to Blossom Glen. Juliet just wants to do her job. She is a counselor but people in her hometown can't seem to forget her 2 and a half engagements. They think she isn't qualified to give relationship advice. So, she sets out to figure out why she picks the wrong guys. Speaking of the wrong guys, Jack is a really nice guy, but he is relationship averse. His grandmother is the only one who has stuck with him. Juliet doesn't want to make another mistake, but Jack is such a good guy. She can be herself with him. As he tries to save his grandmother's land, he learns a lot about himself. Can they let go of the past enough to be together?
It's always bittersweet when you finish a series by Miranda Liasson. As I depart Blossom Glen, The Sweetheart Fix was a wonderful conclusion to the series. In this book, we dive into the journey of Julie Montgomery and Jack Monroe., two lost people who find answers when they let go of their pasts and let in the potential to be loved.
Juliet has a great big heart. She is the middle sis between Tessa and Vivienne. As we celebrated Tessa finding her hea in the first book, it's about time and deserved that we see little sis great some happiness of her own. Sadly, relationships haven't worked out for her. Known as the town's sweetheart, they haven't been something that she's been good at. To her regret, that fact seems to carry over into her professional life.
With a small town and everyone knowing her business, trying to establish herself as a relationship counselor has become quite challenging. Her personal life coming into question, has become a disadvantage to her job. When she is asked by her boss to take some soul searching time off and to regroup, she finds herself with an unexpected opportunity by mayor Jack Monroe.
Jack might come off at first a little rough around the edges but he grows on you. He loves his job but isn't exactly a people person. When a dispute happens with a couple of people in town and Juliet came in and solved their problem, he knew what the town was missing and offered her a job. Giving them both a win, win opportunity.
As they get to know more of each other professionally and personally, opposites attracts with the stars aligning, challenging them to confront their pasts. When a moment happens that challenges a potential future, will Juliet take a chance instead of running from her fear of getting hurt?
I really like these two finding their way to each other. They both have baggage that if they are able to put behind them, they could see how perfect they fit well together. Juliet is different than her sisters. Jack with his past, I really liked that it brought to light the affect on men and relationships when they have a scarred relationship with their mothers.
Overall, like I mentioned in my thoughts on the last book, this was a different type of series from what we've seen in the past. All positive vibes, just different which is welcomed for its variety in perspectives. If you haven't read the first book, read that one first. It can be read as a standalone but for context and background history, you should back read. As with another wonderful read, I'm looking forward to the next small town she introduces us to.
"You are as far from my ideal man as...as Antarctica."
The feeling is mutual, Juliet and Jack both have relationship issues. Juliet is a mental health counselor, Jack is the mayor of the small town of Blossom Glen. Both have hearts of gold, and this fun and flirty story is full of warmth and humor with healthy tension and ultimately a satisfying love story. .
I enjoyed this as a quick, and heart-warming read and it felt like a giant hug! Small town U.S.A. at its finest, and I loved all the people in Blossom Glen as well as the setting.
The second book in this series.
Juliet is a counsellor who is having trouble at work. Mayor Jack offers her a helping hand but will it lead to more.
His grandmother was a great character, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
What a great book! Miranda brought so much love, friendship and laughter in the Sweetheart Fix. It was refreshing to read about what it takes to find true love and becoming the person you want to be. So many things she writes in her books readers can relate to everyday life!
Juliet has been engaged 2.5 times. Jack has never had a serious relationship.
Juliet is a therapist and open to her feelings. Jack keeps his emotions close to his chest.
Juliet needs the town to see her as an adult capable of handling their relationship problems, while Jack is the mayor and needs the town to support his zoning plan, thus saving his grandmother's home.
Juliet and Jack aren't alike, but when Juliet saves Jack's ass, he asks her to work as town counselor, and help him with his publicity problem. As they work together, they appreciate the other, including how they look, and learn they make the perfect team.
Their relationship built nicely as they supported and respected each other. Neither of them were looking for a relationship, with Juliet wanting to take a break and focus on her career, while Jack had no interest in letting anyone in after being abandoned by his mother as a kid. They open up with each other which allows them to both work through their pasts and their choices.
They were both so into each other and when Jack got jealous and claimed her as his, Juliet and I both were thrilled.
A sweet small town romance we saw coming since the first book - the banter always gives it away!
Feat: opposites attract, small town romance, closed door romance, forced proximity, "saw something in you no one else ever had," "you're perfect just the way you are"
I'm loving the stories from the town of Blossom Glen. I had previously read & enjoyed Tessa's story & Juliet's story did not disappoint. I enjoyed getting to know her & Jack as well as the rest of the town. This is a great setting for a story & sounds like a place I'd like to go. Highly recommend this sweet romance novel.
Thanks to the publisher & NetGalley for advanced copy in exchange for my honest review
