It took me a while to read this anthology but I enjoyed it immensely. Wilderness Tales offers such a variety of voices, from quiet small ones to loud and known, all talking about the beauty and horror we can find in nature. Nature writing is one of my favorite genres and this collection really offers a wide range of authors, I'm sure anyone can find some stores here that will speak to them and will make them want to explore more of the wilderness in form of text.

Thank you to Diana Fuss, Knopf, Pantheon, Vintage, and Anchor, and Netgalley for the ARC.

Really enjoying this anthology of wilderness tales! I'm still working through this book because I like to read it when I'm outside in my hammock but enjoying the vast points of views of each story displaying the duplicity of nature. This collection was very thoughtfully put together and would make a great gift for any nature enthusiast (the cover is gorgeous).

A thoughtful and timely anthology that certainly achieves the author’s stated goal of ecological awareness by steeping readers in the living, breathing history of their land. The collection is diverse in time period, location, theme, and voice, making it well suited for educational use and for the leisure reader. I would have liked to see a chronological table of contents also included.

Thank you to editor, Diana Fuss, Knopf Publishing, and NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book is packed with so many interesting stories and told by so many different types of people from the slaves to Native Americans those who change territory lines a grandmother and it’s all said in the wild west. My favorite story was with the guy who lost his house due to the fire it was haunting down the Caribou only because I love solo track tails in the snow when it’s man against nature but they had so many other great stories in this book as well and I do mean a lot of stories. It took me a few days to finish this book but I’m so glad I did these are my type of tales and think this is such a great idea I really enjoyed it. I received this book from NetGalley in the publisher but I’m leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
