Great attention grabber!

Megan is a married woman in her twenties. Her husband is abusive. She is estranged from her sister who is her twin. Her sister Leah has taken everything from her for as long as Megan can remember.

Then Megan discovers Leah's latest betrayal and she loses it. Taking Leah's place may not be the easiest thing, especially during a pandemic lockdown, and if someone knows what she did!

From the very beginning, I was engrossed with this novel. I am one of those readers who enjoys thrillers where twins are the main characters. This one didn't disappoint me. There were multiple times I was shocked by the twists although, I guessed the last one. Several narrators brought to life these interesting characters of a solid debut novel.

This book was not as mind blowing as I expected it to be going in with the starting premise. It was an enjoyable read. The characters are well developed which adds up to an enthralling and suspenseful read., The author did pull of a good job at delivering the story from three points of view with enough twists to keep readers engaged.

Twist upon twist. Megan discovers photos of her identical twin sister, Leah, on her husband’s phone. A confrontation leads to death. What can she do now? And what will happen if her controlling husband finds out what she’s done. One twin will need to play the part of two. But how can you be in two places during the Covid lockdown? Fantastic story of fear, cunning and relationships. Megan is an endearing character from the start.

I have read a few stories told from the perspective of a criminal. This is the first I’ve enjoyed.

A dark story of estranged identical twins. What would you do if your twin was also your enemy? She wants everything you have and is not afraid to take it.

I picked up this book and it took me a a couple of chapters to get into it but by Chapter 3, I was hooked. Every few chapters the narrative flips to a different characters and I never knew what to expect. The book is filled with well written characters that you will love to hate. I enjoyed this book and will definitely pick up another book by this author!

This was an amazing audiobook to listen to. I wasn’t expecting the multiple POVs and it made for amazing twists in the plot.

The one downside for me was that it referenced the pandemic. This did add to some development in the story, it wasn’t just a passing comment about it, but I wasn’t expecting it and I don’t think it was needed. I also think that it could be a potential trigger for some readers.

Overall I did really enjoy the book, it was full of suspense and I never knew what to expect. The narrators did a brilliant job too. I will definitely look out for more by this author.

Thank you NetGalley, the publishers and to Sarah Bonner for a copy of this audiobook.

Her Perfect Twin
By Sarah Bonner
Review and Rating 2⭐️

I received a copy of Her Perfect Twin from the publisher as a complimentary audiobook in exchange for an honest review. My honest review is I struggled to finish this book, what should have been an easy listen turned into a months long marathon of listening, stoping, and trying again, giving up, coming back and then finally finishing. The first few parts of the book, from the perspectives of Megan and Leah, were just okay. The narration was fine, although it was somewhat hard to tell the two voices apart at times. The later parts of the book told from the perspectives of the men in the story were just hard to listen to. Unlikable characters, a crazy, twisty storyline, usually these things work for me in a story but just not this time.

I do want to thank Hachette Audio, Grand Central Publishing, Sarah Bonner, and NetGalley for the ARC audiobook. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

***Note*** I seldom give ⭐️or ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ratings. If I feel a book is a ⭐️sometimes I just prefer to not finish reading it and not rate it. As for 5 ⭐️books, I think of those as books I would want to take with me to a deserted island 🏝️, and this means I read a whole lot of ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️star books. Happy Reading!

With echoes of Gone Girl and My Lovely Wife, Sarah Bonner's debut novel introduces an exciting new voice in this twisty thriller. When Megan discovers photographs of her estranged identical twin sister on her husband's phone, she wants answers. The only way Megan can get away with killing her twin is to become her.

This was a fast paced thriller that really held my attention while listening to the audiobook. The book starts off with a bang and doesn't let up.

*many thanks to Grand Central and Hachette Audio for the gifted copy for review

If you’re looking for a fast paced thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat, look no more. Her Perfect Twin pulled me in instantly and wouldn’t let me go until the very shocking ang twisted conclusion. Jealousy, revenge and betrayal fill the pages with twists that had me gasping out loud. To say this was a page turner is an understatement. Very entertaining and highly addictive! The narration adds an extra layer of intrigue and suspense. Thank you NetGalley and Hachette Audio for my audiobook.

I made a mistake in getting this as an audio. This book would be enjoyed better paperback. The introduction had me thinking FC had a multiple personality, but kept listening because it gives off echoes tv series vibes. Sounded like psychological thriller and you bet my Harry Potter selection I stopped what I was doing to rewind the audio. This is Adult lying games and Ringer all in one.

Clever plot about identical twins who have become estranged. One is married to an abusive partner who is also having an affair with her twin sister. The story then takes a dramatic turn when one twin murders the other one and then pretends to be her in order to hide her murder. Then the story is told from the husband's POV and switches to one other person before returning to the twin. Many twists and well narrated.

I listened to the audio version of this book, and really enjoyed it and the narrator. This book started with a bang until it exploded by the first, second and third twist. I read this whenever I had time, not wanting to miss a single second. The book was clever and original, and I enjoyed every page. Brilliant move to let us see the story unfold from different POVS, right up my alley. If the author publishes more books, I’ll be the first to order them.

What a debut!

I feel like it’s hard to overly impress me with the suspense genre by now, as I’ve just read SO MANY. I loved the concept of “identical twins” and the ingrained aspect of reasonable doubt when murder is involved, but these took so many different turns than I thought it would with this concept.

My only complaint was that I thought Part 1 dragged just slightly. By the time Part 2 introduced the narrator switch to Chris, I was completely hooked. I thought all the audiobook narrators were fabulous. I will say no one is truly likable in this book but the dark humor and insidious nature of the twists and turns made for a delightfully dark and suspenseful read all the way through.

*Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for a honest review.*

I couldn't wait to see what would happen next in this fantastic page-turner by Sarah Bonner. I was completely engrossed from the start.

Just when I thought I understood everything, I discovered that I had been taken up another incorrect path, one that was full of detours and red herrings.

Her Perfect Twin is a strong piece of writing with genuine dialogue and compelling characters. Interweaving the pandemic into the story was a nice touch, heightening the claustrophobic mood.

I'm so sorry for the negative feedback but I absolutely hated this book.
All the characters were incredibly unlikely, especially the husband to the point it felt so unrealistic
The premise was really great though

As much as I hated this book I would give the author another go.

This was a very (pleasant) surprise! I hadn't heard much about HER PERFECT TWIN, the debut novel from Sarah Bonner, but found it to be an excellent psychological thriller. This a twisty, clever, quick novel about identical twins Leah and Megan, who live very different lives and highlight the vulnerability inherent to knowing there is someone out there who can pass as you, sabotage you, or become you.
I thought the author did an excellent job incorporating the pandemic into the plot in a relevant way that moved the story forward. Very clever all the way around, I will definitely read -or listen to- a Sarah Bonner book again.
Narration was very good!

(Spoilers ahead!!!!!)

This book had me so hooked!!! The narrators were spot on- Megan sounded lovely and Chris sounded awful!!! I felt genuine anxiety for Megan and how she was going to get out of this. I found a lot of Chris’s part hard to listen to because he is so evil.

The lawyer part at the end lost me. I know his life story was in there so we could understand him better, but I was bored. I don’t care about his personal life. He was also an insufferable man, and his constant condescending tone was annoying. I fully understand it’s part of the story but still.

I also got slightly confused in the lawyer part, because were we supposed to think that was actually Leah? Or Megan? I was a bit confused.

The ending seemed a little anticlimactic. I wanted Chris’s reaction to being found (I assume) guilty. And did Tom think she’s still Leah? Or did he know she’s Megan by the end?

All in all it was a very good book!
