Megan finds inappropriate pictures of her estranged identical twin on her husband's phone and is suspicious. She goes to confront Leah and it does not go as planned. No one can tell them apart.
Lots of twists and turns. Enjoy the ride and read/listen to Her Perfect Twin.
Enjoyable narration by Daphne Kouma, David Morley Hale and George Weightman.
Fun read with interesting twists!

I LOVE THE RIDE THIS BOOK PUT ME ON. Such twists and turns. Though some were predicted, I had a fun time seeing the events unfold anyway.
Her Perfect Twin by Sarah Bonner was a crazy, could not but down ride. Bonner did a great job with this book. Read it you will love it.
DNF - I loved the concept of this one but I just could not get into it. I tried twice, taking a break and trying again. I know many people who liked it though so I feel it’s a “not you, it’s me” situation.
Thank you to the author, Netgalley and the publisher for being so kind as to send me a physical ARC as well as an ALC.
When Megan discovers photographs of her estranged identical twin sister on her husband’s phone, she wants answers.
Leah already has everything Megan ever wanted. Fame, fortune, freedom to do what she wants. And when Megan confronts Leah, an argument turns to murder.
The description definitely caught my attention and I knew it was a must read especially from a debut author. Bonner delivers in regards suspense and her character delivery, however it was tough to keep Leah and Megan straight. I had to go back a few times to remember who I was reading about. Including the lockdown I felt was unnecessary as it didn't add anything to the plot or suspense.
Thank you to Grand Central Publishing for this audiobook and to #Netgalley #HerPerfectTwin

I can't believe this was Bonner's debut novel. This is the dysfunctional story of identical twins with a vile, abusive husband thrown in. I really enjoy thriller plots revolving around twins - my Mum's an identical twin (here's to hoping it runs in the family) and I find the bond and connection fascinating, especially when crime is involved. This was told through multiple perspectives from Megan, husband Chris, Leah, and Chris' lawyer and to experience a first-person perspective into a psychopath's mind was both disturbing and chilling, but also fascinating.
Faced with multiple truly unlikeable characters, the definition of "unreliable narrators" and the dangers and drama of covering a crime (always anxiety-inducing, but even more-so in a pandemic with travel restrictions), the plot was fast paced and well developed, with the character's motives well matched and set out well within the timeframe.

I like the story line of this book so much but the I couldn’t fully get into with the narrator voice. I’m not sure if it was just they accent or the accent they were trying to mimic.
I fully intend to buy this book soon to read it.
Don’t let the cover fool you. This one is like a rubix’s cube that keeps twisting.
I loved the different perspectives and how it kept you guessing to the very end. Don’t over think it, and enjoy the story.
This book is a clever and compelling suspense with a great audiobook performance. Thank you to Hachette audio for making this book available through NetGalley.
This one was full of twisty goodness. Just try to keep it all straight. Identical twins, finding your twin's picture on your husband's phone. Leading a double life. Living in lockdown as someone else. But wait. What is real and what is not. So many twists and turn. This was so good.
This book had me hooked from the start! It kept me wanting to come back to the audio for sure! A story about a sister who murders her twin and plants the murder on her husband and pretends to be the twin she killed?! Yes please! I do feel like they could have left out part 4, the attorneys POV. I didn’t particularly like his section of the book & spaced out quite a bit! Highly recommend this one!
Whenever I start a "twin" book, I know the narrator is going to be unreliable. Which twin is this really? Have they switched places yet?
HER PERFECT TWIN drew me in from the start with a murder and a plot to escape a bad marriage. And then Covid lockdowns foiled Megan's plans for escape, which I thought was so well-written. I remember joking to my boyfriend about cheaters having a bad time during Covid, and Sarah Bonner turned around and wrote a book about it! Don't worry, the lockdown was just a few scenes long and used as a plot device--it didn't drag out.
I don't want to spoil the ending, but HER PERFECT TWIN definitely stood out against all the other "twin" novels I've read recently--and there have been a lot of them.
This was a really great debut, and I can't wait to see what this author will write next.
Audio Review: This full-cast narration was performed by Daphne Kouma, David Morley Hale, and George Weightman. I enjoyed listening to a different narrator for each perspective, and loved the audio production overall.
Her Perfect Twin
Gone Girl is my favorite thriller of the last decade, and it seems I am not the only one who thinks so because it has become the template for most suspense thrillers that concentrate on marriages. And Her Perfect Twin is an excellent riff on what has become a genre.
Megan and Leah are twins, and the symbiosis between these two disadvantages Megan in every which way. They hate each other. Leah has become rich and famous, and Megan has stopped talking to her. Leah has written a tell-all book about their dad, who had two families, parading around their dirty laundry has destroyed their mother.
So when Megan finds a photo of what she initially thinks is herself in lingerie on her husband's phone but soon discovers it is her twin, you can imagine her reaction.
What follows is a relentless and cruel cat-and-mouse play between Megan, her twin sister, and Megan's despicable husband. This takes place during the pandemic, and I loved how well the lockdown is woven into the plot. One of the devices used in this genre is the switch in POV, where the story gets turned completely around. Here it is employed to great effect; the only issue is that Megan has such a strong voice; she is funny, endearing, and unhinged that when we switch to her husband, she is sorely missed. Her husband's voice and later the lawyer's voice are blunt and onesided, and I missed the multifacet, intriguing Megan. But the switch does wonders for the plot and the twist and turns that keep coming, so it is a necessary compromise and leads to the satisfying gut-punch of an ending.
Excuse me while I pick my jaw up from off the floor. This book has more twists than anything I have read!
I had no idea what "Her Perfect Twin," was about when I got this audiobook, but from chapter one I was hooked. Without giving too much of the plot away, this is the story of two identical twins who do not like each other. Megan is in an abusive marriage and has a terrible life, while her sister Leah, is rich and living a life most would envy. After years of not speaking, the twins meet up, but only one walks away after the other is murdered. Am I being vague? YES! That is only because I really think going into this story without any information is the best way.
I loved this book so much, that I found myself running extra errands and doing extra housework so I could keep listening. It is simply one of those books you cannot put down and I was shocked multiple times. I was truly lost in this story and it captivated me for hours. Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I can't wait to read anything else Sarah Bonner writes!
Megan thinks she’s losing her mind when finds pictures of herself on her husband’s phone that she doesn’t remember taking. Eventually, she concludes these photos must be of Leah, her identical twin. Megan confronts Leah about these pictures and ends up killing her. Can Megan juggle being both Megan and Leah? When the lockdown happens, Megan has to come up with another plan.
What an amazing debut novel by Sarah Bonner! The characters are fully developed and intriguing. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen next, I was surprised. There were so many amazing twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the book. I highly recommend this book if you like psychological thrillers! This will keep you reading to find out what happens next! 4.5/5 stars.
HER PERFECT TWIN was such a fun ride!
The book begins with Megan snooping on her husband's phone, looking at a photo of herself lying on their bed in underwear -- except she has no memory of posing for the picture, and she doesn't own underwear in that color.
What follows was a really enjoyable thriller, a fast read that's tough to put down.
I liked the narration but I did miss a few words here and there, a combination of the narrator's accent and the odd slang/word I wasn't expecting (none were crucial). Daphne Kouma, David Morley Hale, and George Weightman all felt like good casting. I, naturally, traded between the audiobook and text, because I didn't want to stop inhaling this story!
Identical twin sisters Leah and Megan are complete opposites when it comes to their lifestyles. Each sister envies the life of her twin. But you can't have it all, or can you?
One fatal night allows one of the twins to choose the life she wants to live and get revenge - all in one sweep of a bottle.
Deliciously sweet suspense novel. It will keep you guessing over and over and over again. Chapter after chapter, the novel captured me in its bewildering web. I could not get enough of the twin sisters and their twisted lives. Searching for a new entertaining thriller? Look no further, grab this book, a glass of wine and enjoy the labyrinth of mysterious affairs, and lies.
Thank you, NetGalley and Sarah Bonner for a free and advanced copy of the novel.
“It is the late afternoon of the twenty-third of March.
Lockdown.
Stay at home. Save lives.
There is no way…to hire a van and move the body to a safer place. No way to get away. I am trapped…What the fuck do I do now?”
When Megan discovers risqué pictures of her estranged identical twin on her husband’s phone, she wants answers. But when she confronts Leah, the argument turns to murder. The only way Megan can get away with killing her twin is to become her. But then lockdown hits, making living two lives almost impossible.
I have always been obsessed with identical twins so I will read any book about them. This one, though, had such a fun twist. The girls HATE each other. Did they switch places over the years? Yes. Did they trick their parents? Yes. But they are not best friends. In fact they don’t even really speak. What an absolutely fascinating twist on the bff identical twin trope. Just imagine hating someone that looks exactly. Like. You.
This book had a lot of twists and turns and it kept me guessing until the legit very last chapter. I actually had to reread it to make sure I knew who was who! Mind. Blown. Which twin is reliable? Are either of them? And the husband Chris is quite the schmuck. Can you believe anything he says? That is certainly up for debate. What a wild ride!
As a side note (and having worked in healthcare in the thick of Covid) I felt that the lockdown portions of the book were done very well and not at all “too soon.”
The audio was very entertaining. With 3 narrators I found myself really drawn into the story and I listened to about 90% of this as opposed to reading.
Thank you to Netgalley, Grand Central Publishing, Hachette Audio, and the author for the ARC and ALC in exchange for an honest review.
I recently started the Netflix series "Echoed," which is about a pair of identical twins so alike that when one goes missing the other can step in and pretend to be the missing sister. However upon starting "Her Perfect Twin" I immediately gave up my binging of "Echoes" because this was soo much better.
Megan and Leah are identical twins, so alike their dad had to tattoo dots on them to tell who was who. They've always lived in competition of one another, with Leah crossing as many lines as needed to get to Megan. So, when Megan finally snaps she has to figure out how to hold it together enough to get away with it all.
This is one of the best reads I've read all year. I couldn't get enough of Megan, Leah, and even the crappy men that arise throughout. The author takes on the narration from several points of view and absolutely nails it as it adds so much to the underlying suspense and mystery.
