Thank you so much for the ARC. Reviewing audiobooks gives me so much joy.
I don't know why I love these messed up thrillers about twins. You would think as a twin mom I would avoid them but I love it.
The tropes are fun, even if I know that twins aren't actually hard to tell apart if you actually know them. I don't need to see mine to know who is who. They have different "essences". But you know what? Chris could never. He is way too self centered. These girls had/have being evil twins figured out.
Anyway, this was so twisty. I loved it.
The narrators were perfect for their roles.

Megan and Leah are identical twins. Leah has always taken everything from Megan, including their life story which they were making into a book together. Leah cut her out of the project and she got all the fame and fortune. Now Megan finds pictures of Leah on her husband's phone, which prompts Megan to confront her sister. During a heated argument Megan kills Leah. Megan then decides the only way to get away with murdering her twin is to become her twin. Megan learns how to be Leah, all while still being herself. Then COVID lockdown hits and being two people gets much harder.

I was absolutely hooked on this book and then when the perspective changed, I was even more hooked. I will not spoil anything but I was in total shock and just when I thought I couldn’t be shocked anymore, Sarah Bonner dropped another twist. This twist made me audibly gasp, I don’t think a book has ever made me involuntarily make a sound.

I really enjoyed all the planning, the manipulation, the twists, and the confusion so much. The use of twins is something that is overdone in media so that did worry me at first, fortunately, the ideas and the writing in this book took all that worry away very quickly. This is easily one of my favorite books of 2022.

I've always said I've thought twins could be up to some sketchy things, and it's evident that both Megan and Leah fit that bill. I am very thankful to both Grand Central Publishing and Sarah Bonner for sending me both an Advanced Listener and Reader's Copy of Her Perfect Twin which is set to hit shelves on Tuesday, September 27. This book took me along for a ride and I highly recommend listening to it, for you'll get the full impact of the twists and turns that smacked me in the face.

In Megan's eyes, her twin sister Leah has a perfect life. She's a best-selling author, loaded with financial stability, friends for days, and has the looks to nab nearly any lover she could dream of. Even though Megan and Leah are identical twins, she feels inferior to her influencer sister. When she finds of a photo of a scantily clothed Leah on her husband's phone, she begins to doubt every relationship she's ever known to be true, heightening the hate she harbors for her "perfect" twin.

When Megan goes to confront her sister about her adulterous hobby, things get out of hand and one of the sisters drops dead after being clubbed by a wine bottle. Which sister is it though? We, the reader, are left to assume that Megan is the victor and she is covering up the death of her sister, by living a double life, but what do we really know anyway? Just when you THINK you know where this tale is turning, you'll find you're all wrong in the end.

What a fun and twisty debut! Separated into five sections, varying in points of view, this story follows Megan who just found out her husband is having an affair with her estranged identical twin, Leah. When she goes to confront Leah, their argument turns deadly and to avoid getting caught, Megan has to pretend to be her twin. Just when I thought I knew where the story was going and what certain characters were capable of, there was a new revelation that caught me off guard. While this was set in March of 2022, the COVID mentions were subtle and the plot was not a pandemic novel. Rather, knowing the lockdown was coming, added a great deal of suspense to the story and an extra layer of tension amongst the characters. The audiobook narrators were excellent, and I loved listening to the difference voices as the drama unfolded.

As a reader you encounter many books about twins but this one is not within that mold and breaks out as a thriller with the twists and turns you are looking for in a book. This book is based upon the twins relationship, which involves large amounts of jealousy. The author takes the reader on a journey from the first page and it didn't let up the whole way through. I connected with all the characters even wanted to slap and yell at some of them, the writing is intense that when one slaps another you wince. So many topics involved in this book such as jealousy, revenge, cheating, love, breaking free from something no longer bringing you happiness. The pace was intense and didn't slow down at all. The main character is Megan but we do see chapters narrated by her twin Leah and her husband Chris. Sarah throws some curveballs towards the end which have you gasping. If you like an intense book with plots constantly moving then definitely pick this one up!!!!

Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Grand Central Publishing, and Hachette Audio for gifting me a digital ARC of this debut psychological thriller by Sarah Bonner and wonderfully narrated by Daphne Kouma, David Morley Hale and George Weightman - 5 stars!

Twins Megan and Leah may be identical but they are very different. Megan is married to Christopher and lives a tightly controlled life, while Leah is famous and rich. When Megan discovers pictures of Leah on her husband's phone, she confronts Leah at a remote cabin and it ends in murder. The only way to hide the murder is to become Leah.

Wow. I have read a ton of twisty thrillers but this one kept my head spinning until the very last page! The book's timeline begins at the start of Covid and while it adds to the isolation and plot of the story, it's not a major player - just very well done. The less said about this one the better - this book must be on your radar and it deserves all the hype. Hard to believe it's a debut novel - can't wait to see what the author has in store next!

4.5 stars. I love a good domestic cat-mouse game thriller, and Her Perfect Twin is just that.

Synopsis: One night, Megan discovers risque photos of her identical twin on her husband's phone. This is the not the first time that Leah has taken something of Megan's from her, but it will certainly be the last. When Megan confronts Leah, the argument escalates to murder. Now, Megan must assume both of their identities if she has a shot at getting away with murder... but then Covid hits, and everyone goes into lockdown. How long can she keep this act up?

Thoughts: This is the kind of book that gets better and better as it progresses. I enjoyed the multiple POVs and how the audiobook used different narrators for the various characters. The plot is clever and twisty, and although it is set during the pandemic, it is not particularly "triggering." Instead, it is more used as a pressure cooker for Megan. It is tough to say too much about this one without giving it away, so just do yourself a favor and read/listen to this one soon!

Thank you Hachette Audio for this review copy of Sarah Bonner's Her Perfect Twin. This is one wild, dark story that is well narrated by Daphne Kouma, David Morley Hale, and George Weightman. I really appreciated the twists in this story and the use of multiple POVs, which really added an interesting depth to the story and made it darker and edgier. The use of lockdown to explore tension, manipulation, and relationships was well done.

In terms of voice narration, it was excellent. The narrators captured the mood, tension, and darkness of the characters and their mindsets really well and I appreciate how that added to the listening experience.

I want to note some content warnings for interested readers: the middle part of this book gets INTENSE, particularly as an audiobook as the first person narration and direction that narratives takes here could be hard for some readers/listeners. Themes related to misogyny, toxic relationships, gaslighting, and related concerns about abuse are part of the story. It was a relevant part of how Bonner developed the narrative and twists and plot points but was a bit tough to have in my ears if that makes sense!

Great for fans of darker domestic thrillers.

You never want to find photos of another woman on your phone, but what happens when you find photos of yourself, wearing clothing you don’t remember owning? It would appear that Megan’s estranged identical twin has returned and spent some quality time with her husband. A confrontation between Leah and Megan turns violent, leaving Leah dead. What’s Megan to do? Leah has always had the perfect life, maybe Megan could be Leah, as well as herself? I had a hard time getting into this book, maybe it’s because I didn’t care for the dynamic between Leah and Megan, one that made them seem more like hostile corporate CEOs trying for a takeover. Not a bad story, just not my cup of tea

I was not beliving what I was reading..i really like the poits of view and different position that were showed. Maybe was not my fave ending but was anyway done so well. I was not on the edge like that forever I think. On a way simple two twins, one boy, one man, one everythng but interesting in every chapter I have listened. So dynamic and just could not wait to see if I was right. And unfortunately I was. I wished was the oposite solution but anyway a crazy psiho thriller

Thank you Hachette Audio, Grand Central Publishing for this audio copy, really love and refreshing.

This book was thoroughly entertaining. I enjoy books with twins and this one did not disappoint. From beginning to end I was on the edge of my seat. Thriller with dash of romance. Everyone thinks they have the perfect plan but only ONE will be successful.
Usually when there's an accent it's harder to understand the narration but the narrator was so good I didn't even have to slow it down!
