There was a lot to love about this book and I think some major edits could make this truly an outstanding read. Liana and Gabe were great characters and there romance definitely worked for me. The problem was there's so much filler that distracts from the duo. Way too many subplots or scenes that were completely unnecessary that I had to start skimming. I believe this is the author's debut, so the potential is definitely there.
I liked this book. Probably give it 3.5 stars but am rounding up. I loved the perspectives of Cade and Liana. I loved Liana’s blog. Is there a real one like it?
I could have done without the sister/stepsister drama. I liked that the story with Stephanie and Kade had a happy ending and they were able to keep Stephanie safe.
This book is incredibly spicy! Can’t judge the book by its cover.
I really enjoyed this one. The author did well with making the characters real and believable. It was not just all romance it was very engaging.
When i requested this book from netgalley, I was pleased to be accepted. It is a unique spin on a dear Abby column and sort of friends to lovers. He wrote to her to get advice and thoughts on love, she gets his help for tips on her sex column. Their collaboration and new found friendship turns to heat that neither can deny. It was so well written and I loved it
A great read, but did real with some difficult and emotional issues. I liked that it was told from both points of view.
I was able to finish the story because it was engaging enough, but there were some elements that I thought were superfluous or just extra pages added without any justification.
Although this book was undoubtedly a slow burner, I really enjoyed the energy this couple shown throughout the book. They had a fantastic chemistry and brought out the best in one other, allowing them to be completely unapologetically themselves when they were together
DNF @ 18 % or so.
I couldn't get into this story, it just wasn't convincing.
Liana is an advice columnist. She gives relationship advice. I wasn't convinced she had a successful career as a blogger like this at 23 years old so I mentally aged her for five years. I also couldn't understand how she can give relationship advice without dipping her toes into sexual questions, I felt like this is something you can't have one without the other. Her relationship with her family is also weird. She lives with her sister and is later joined by another sister who she hates (why I have no idea) but also hates her father who wants to buy her blog for his other son.
Kade is a very impassioned person, everything he does is like he's doing it like a robot. Very motionless. He is also the boss of a literacy agency and lives in a rich neighborhood but somehow he has a roommate that is not also his best friend but also his coworker. Stephanie was likable, but Kade was not. I do not like to read about MC having sex with other people and Kade had sex twice (and yes, as with all his actions that too was boring to read even though it wasn't very descriptive).
This was a fun romp! Several unexpected turns, and Liana and Kade have such good banter. I appreciated the slow burn aspect, and the fact that it addressed some more serious matters in addition to the love story/flirting.
I’m definitely a fan of this book. Allie Doherty has a unique voice! I was drawn in to the book from the beginning and the characters were very 3dimensional. I love the theme “opposites attract” with the characters, and the way they met just so perfect & funny and cute. I love Kade & loved how he and Liana help each other overcome their relationship issues.
I’m giving this 3.5 stars because I thought the tension between the two was unneeded since they really have nothing holding them back. otherwise, I liked it and would recommend it!
It really just wasn’t for me. This felt very wattpad-y in a bad way (I simply do not need to know exactly what everyone is wearing, or see every step of you getting ready), there were a few instances of fatphobia, and the man was such an absolute prick that there was absolutely no way I could root for him as the love interest.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review the ARC for "Love, Liana... Sincerely Kade." I tried to get into this book but I just couldn't finish reading. I don't know if it was because of the main characters not being as captivating as I would like. I felt like Liana's character was kind of immature and boring. Overall the concept of the story was presented well in the blurb but did not deliver for me in the actual story.
There was such a great balance in the plot, with sensual and cute wholesome moments between Liana and Kade. a cute, inspiring, and hilarious rom-com
I really really wanted to like this one but I could not get into it. The characters were just not endearing, they both need a lot of therapy to get through their issues and how it impacts everyone around them. Their behavior and outbursts were understandable but also not enjoyable to witness. The author is very upfront about the trigger warnings and I very much appreciated that, definitely check those before reading.
Liana Dawson is a perpetually single romantic advice blogger who is one step away from being New York City's version of Bridget Jones. She has an unshakable belief in love which lets her solve any relationship problem. A fascinating email leads to a new friendship that makes her question everything she knows about love. Kade Jennings is the man who sent the email and he receives an offer he can't refuse. The offer throws his world into a tailspin at the hands of a woman he never intended to meet. Liana knows love and Kade knows sex.
This was a cute and sexy love story. It also deals with issues such as drug use, domestic violence, and homelessness. Overall it was a great book and I recommend it. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.
This book was really cute, I would say. one of my favorites. The story was very engaging. I really loved the characters from start to finish. The only problem I faced was the pace of the storyline. I was kind of lost in between but regardless I really liked the book
4 stars
I really enjoyed this story! It was an easy, quick read, I finished it in almost one sitting. The banter and the exchange of emails were my favorite part. I loved the connection and easy banter of the main characters, how they discovered each other and went through all stages from strangers to friends to lovers. And when they fell, they fell hard. Those 'oh sh** I fell in love' moments were priceless.
Sometimes it felt like something was missing or on the contrary, that it got too much on the cheesy part, but overall, it was a fun read. I also liked that the author touched on some heavy subjects, which made the story that more realistic and relatable.
This book has everything you want in a romcom! The characters are relatable and interesting. I was hooked from the beginning!
DNF at 25% or so. Liana was annoying and her fights with her sisters were childish and immature. I didn't really care for Kade all that much either
Finally finished this book, took me a while thanks to having flu like symptoms but whatever.
Personally I liked the writing style of the author as well as that it was a dual POV but it was lacking something. I can‘t put my finger on it but it didn‘t captivate me even though I love romance books. The characters were a little frustrating and that‘s probably why I just couldn‘t get into it as much.
Description:
Meet Liana Dawson, a perpetually single romantic-advice blogger.
She's one set of granny-panties away from proclaiming herself New York City's version of Bridget Jones when she's hit with a fan demand for sex advice. With an unwavering belief in love (and rom-com superiority), there's no relationship problem Love, Liana can't fix... until a fascinating, albeit cocky, email paves the way to a whirlwind friendship that leaves Liana questioning everything she thought she knew about falling in love.
Enter Kade Jennings, the ass who wrote it.
After writing in to a popular blog to get some answers about whether love exists, Kade receives an offer he can't refuse-one that throws his world of one-night stands, whiskey, and books into a tailspin at the hands of a woman he had no intention of ever meeting.
Liana knows love, Kade knows sex. They could be each other's, perfect teachers... if they can keep their hands off long enough to learn.
It was very touch and go with this book for me. While I loved the slow burn enemies to friends to eventually lovers, I was not a huge fan of Kade. I like a confident male lead as much as the next but there's confidence and there's just douchebag behaviour. And while he does point out an awful amount of time how much of an asshole he is, he still didn't win me over. The story was cute enough though. Good plot and decent characters and it had good pacing as well. I didn't like Kade but I would recommend the book.
