This book was both cute and a lot darker then I expected; tackling topics such as physical abuse and child hood homelessness. I feel like these are more trigger warnings than spoiler alerts. (This does not take away from the story in any way.)
The reason I settled with three stars versus four has more to do with a few unrealistic aspects rather than characters or pacing. For example, they drink so much they should literally be dead by chapter four. They drink so much that it pulled me out of the story. This is something that should have been caught in the editing process. Second is the crazy sizes of these apartments in NYC!! It is definitely more fantasy than reality there!!!
Lastly, I felt and still feel like the ending is missing something. I would’ve liked more turmoil or angst. (While that is objectively my least favorite part of a book, you know it’s coming and going to happen. So, I want to see it play out. I want my heartstrings shredded!!!
Overall, cute read and fun characters.
Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read an eARC of this story! All thoughts and opinions are mine and mine alone.
I loved this book! The romantic aspect, as well as the relationships between the siblings and the father and daughters. This was such a fantastic and fun read! I can’t wait to read what’s next from this author!!
Firstly I would like to thank NetGalley and Lake Country Press & Review for providing me this eARC in exchange of an honest review.
I decided to pick this book for several reasons but mostly for the cover (I’m a sucker for books with a cartoon/illustrated cover) and the blurb. That blurb sounded pretty promising and had me super excited for Liana and Kade story.
Our MCs are Liana and Kade. She’s a love expert who has a love-advice blog and knows more about love than sex while he's a playboy who knows all about sex and nothing about love (you can already see where this is going). When he emails her blog seeking help on how to fall in love, the two come together to try and see if they can help each other (and inevitably, an attraction develops between the two.)
While Kade is your typical asshole(ish) character he -thank god- has a lot of personal growth through all the book and I really enjoyed reading about his journey and his relationship with his bff Stephanie.
I liked how each side character contributed to the plot and weren't just there to support the main character's relationship but sometimes it felt like they where the main characters with their
TW-worthy subplots. And I’m not joking, there are some heavy subplots (like domestic violence, drug addiction..) so please go check the TWs at the beginning of the book before reading. It must be said, however, that all these topics were dealth with pretty well even tho that doesn’t change the fact that sometimes it was hard to remember that this book was supposed to be a romance.
All said, I really wanted to like it a lot (REALLY) but it was so slooooooow (at least the first half, and by half I mean it got interesting at 60/65% which is not super bad but I prefer not to waste half of a book wishing it would end quickly instead of enjoing the story), and honestly I finished it just because I hate to dnf books that are not utterly crap and this one is not bad, It just felt like the average romance book, nothing terrible but also nothing too special. Definitely readable in one sitting if you can get past the slowness (speaking from experience lol) and 100% for all the slow-burn-club members out there. (bonus points for the banter. the banter was good and we all know a good romance HAS to have good banter so *thumbs up*)
//btw I’m still confused as to why he pretended to be another person lol but I’m happy we got rid of this plot early in the book and it wasn’t dragged till the end but mostly that it wasn’t the reason of the -unnecessary- “big fight”.
A cute romcom with strong characters. I picked up this one mainly because of the premise and interesting title. Not to forget the cover.
I liked how this book goes beyond the tropes and tries to explore dynamics beyond romance. While it is a slow burn, it's quite well written and engrossing. A decent romance read if you are looking to pick up a book in this genre.
Thank you NetGalley and Lake Country Press & Review for the eARC in exchange of my honest review.
This book was just okay and it took me awhile to get through. I loved the character’s backstories and their connection. However, the amount that Kade had internal monologue about his *ahem* was too much. And the magic of sleeping with all the women to suddenly being in love with another is just weird. I liked their journey but it was just the very obvious conflict at the end before everything wraps up into the happily ever after. Just so-so.
I was quite surprised by this one, I honestly went in thinking it would be another rom com with some fun sassy main characters which it was but also delved in so much more and brought up some important subjects. I love how unperfectly perfect Kade and Liana were for each other and the willingness to grown and admit their faults to move forward and be better.
I absolutely fell in love with this book!!! I just loved the character development and growth that occurred throughout the story. I love how Kade loved Stephanie so well in their friendship and was willing to fight for her even when she didn’t want his help. Now to talk about Kade and Liana. I absolutely loved their relationship. I simply fell in love with Kade and Liana’s characters from the beginning. My heart absolutely broke for them both towards the end. Their relationship was so perfect. I also loved the imagery throughout the story! It made me feel like I was there. This book is a 10/10. I truly enjoyed it so much!
Thank you to netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Now, this book confused me. So much. Because on the one hand, the book is fine, nothing revolutionary (but I don’t read romance for revolutionary so…) but it swung between genres in a way that, at times, irked me. Because there was this really gritty backstory to both of these characters that I felt were unexplored. Liana has such a complicated life, that gets progressively more complicated throughout the story, but it’s resolved lamely within one paragraph in the epilogue. Meanwhile Kade is just a fucking menace with a dick ready for usage and ego the size of New York. There were times where I really wanted to quit, either because Kade was written like a fuckboy out of a Mormon cautionary tale, or because everyone in Liana’s life felt cartoonishly evil. It was too much at times. So while I had fun, at times, for quite some time in this book, all I wanted to do was quit. I’m sure there’s people out there that will love this story, I did at some parts, but I couldn’t love it like u wanted to and so it gets my Romance-Standard-Rating: Three stars (in StoryGraph it’ll get 3.5 or 3.25)
Love, Liana..Sincerely Kade tells the story of advice blogger Liana and Kade and obnoxious womanizer who writes in to her column. His problem he says is he has sex with too many women and needs to know how to fall in love with one. Liana being a romantic who loves rom-com movies but has little sex experience (and wants to branch out her blog from just romance advice to also sex advice) decides to try and see if they can help each other. He helps her by being a wingman and she helps him actually date a woman. Inevitably the two begin to feel an attraction to each other but does either one really want the same things? I thought this books was entertaining I liked the character of Liana I was on the fence the with Kades character. There were things I liked about him but his personality for me wasn’t the best. I also thought a lot was spent on side characters that wasn’t really needed. There’s multiple siblings of Lianas talked about and she has an estranged father and that subplot really didn’t go anywhere and wrapped up very quickly at the end. Kade also had a subplot with his best friend in an abusive relationship but that worked for the story and made him more of a relatable character. This books was 3 stars from me enjoyable and had some funny moments and some spicy scenes between the main characters. I’d like to thank NetGalley and Lake Country Press & Review for the digital arc in return for a fair and honest review.
It took some time for me to get over the initial just... dislike I had for Kade to finish this book. It definitely had its moments but some times went off onto tangents I wasn't sure were necessary. It was a good book, but not necessarily for me.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are entirely my own
The story occurs in New York and written from the Point of view of the main characters .-Liana and Kade. Liana is a relationship expert and runs romantic advice blog, Love, Liana. Like any other blog, her readers need more and that includes sex and that occurs faster than necessary when a reader Kade writes in asking for help with his love life. It was nice watching these people fall for each other Liana's and Kade' had incredible chemistry and the banter made the romance swoon worthy. I recommend it .
2.5 stars overall
The blurb pulled me in and I was looking forward to this since it was my first read from this author. While the premise was fun, the pacing and exceedingly lengthy inner monologues of both Liana and Kade made it feel like it took forever to get through a conversation. And while detail is important, it seemed like there were a lot of little things that were over-described that contributed to the lengthy pages. Now in terms of the characters, I didn't like that the FMC and MMC don't even meet until about 20% in (this may change slightly due to formatting changes once released). And when they did meet, Kade was a jerk. He stood her up and kept her waiting for hours on 2 occasions. Honestly, I would've left within 15 minutes of that first meetup and would've cancelled the second date as well after waiting for an hour outside for him. I didn't feel the chemistry and I think the author was going for an enemies to lovers arc, but is it really enemies when he's just a pompous ass?
I also think Liana and all of the siblings should have been aged up a few years. I genuinely can't think of any 23 year-old who actually gives consistently good advice. Undergrad degree in psychology or not, 23 years old is just so young. And the timeline that she'd been on her own for 5 years (so when she was 18).... I don't know, it just seems like it would've made more sense for them to be more mid-20s.
I really liked Stephanie and her character; she was very well developed and her friendship with Kade was sweet. The DV written in this book was great in a sense that it was very realistic. The mental hold that victims have can make it extremely hard to leave and while Kade was frustrated with her at multiple points, her abuse wasn't just glossed over and she didn't just miraculously leave, which I appreciated.
This is a solid 3 stars read. The author deals with domestic violence, homelessness and drug use throughout the story. Overall I enjoyed the character develop from the beginning where Kade was at his worst. To the point where Liana allowed him to come to his own while encouraging him.
***************I received an ARC for my honest opinion from NetGalley.*******************
I honestly have mixed feelings about this book. I am not saying this is a bad book, not at all. What I mean is that some parts of the story didn't quite convince me. Here's my thoughts:
I was really intrigued by the plot of Love, Liana... Sincerely Kade and the question around which it evolved: If love exists, is it something that can be taught? I was eager to read such a smart, fun, sexy and poignant love story. While reading the book, though, I could not shake some negative feelings about the way the story and its characters evolved.
I really liked the lighthearted parts in which Liana and Kade got to spend some time together in a genuine way. What I am not sure about is the "heavy stuff" part. Don't get me wrong, as tragic as the past of the two protagonists is, this is not what left me perplexed. I usually read stories about trauma, violence, toxic relationships and even toxier family dynamics and I usually like them. The point is that, in order for me to like them completely, I need the author to guide me through the characters' minds so that I can understand their trauma. I need to witness their struggles in an attempt to become the best version of themselves. I need to feel their desperation so that I can root for them while they go through their journey of redemption. Well, while reading Love, Liana... Sincerely Kade, none of this happened. On the contrary, it seemed to me that all the troubled characters simply used their backgrounds as an excuse for their crazyness (their words, not mine). It felt to me like they skipped all the steps of the healing process. Yes, therapy is mentioned more than once, but readers only get to know what the doctor says, instead of getting the chance to really explore the characters' minds. So, I got the feeling that throughout the story none of them was really dealing with their shit (their words, not mine) and the kinda rushed happy ending of the book confirmed my suspicions. As a matter of fact, the lovers got back together after months spent apart with no need to talk to each other... at all. The female character suddenly sees an outstanding change in her partner and therapy is mentioned again... but readers don't get to know nothing more than that. Unfortunately, this lack of characters' exploration gave me mixed feelings about the book. But I read a lot of positive reviews about this book and I am really glad a lot of people liked it.
Thank you NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
"Love, Liana... Sincerely, Kade" is the next read for fans of "Beach Read" looking for a double shot of spice and drama.
The drama of their friend & family relationships builds to such soap opera proportions that Liana & Kade's falling for eachother is a comfort. Have a bowl of popcorn ready and maybe some tissues, too.
While the draw here is romance, you're turning pages for the unfolding drama of a messy broken family, holding space open in your heart for a best friend seemingly lost to an abusive partner, and always eager for the hot attraction between Liana & Kade to ignite.
I so appreciate the inclusion of Trigger Warnings at the start as there are some heavy subjects at play here.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Liana and Kade had chemistry and I loved that, even if it took about halfway through the book to even feel that.
But for me, it was too spicy. Their family history’s are similar but also not similar. They have someone close to them going through a tough time and are estranged from their families.
Aside from Liana And Kades relationship, I didn’t find myself interested and invested. It was hard to finish the book for me.
I really wanted to like this book. The description of it sounded charming and whimsical. Sadly, this started out as a most unenjoyable read from page one. I do not enjoy first person narrative in a romance, I know some people don’t mind and some people don’t even notice. I can overlook the first person POV in other genres, just not romance, it feels strange and really lazy.
However, I wanted to give this a chance, so I kept going. The first chapter alone was just painful to read. There was just too much description in everything. From the way she moves—so many odd ways of phrasing every single detail—to the description of the apartment she shares with her sister. It was just too much for me.
The other thing I didn’t enjoy is the fact that the chapters don’t equally alternate between the two leads. Each chapter will state either “Liana” or “Kade” complete with respective icon: a coffee to-go for Liana and a shot of whisky for Kade, which I thought that was a nice touch. I just didn’t like if I stepped away from the book for an hour to go start dinner that I’d have to go back and see which POV I was reading. As the chapters don’t alternate evenly as other books using this particular format do.
And sadly, I didn’t find the characters likable. I cannot express how much I disliked Kade and to be truthful, I didn’t care for Liana that much either. This was a struggle to finish and a painful read.
I see that other reviewers enjoyed this book immensely and that’s great, everyone has their tastes, we all don’t have to love the same things. But for me, this is a hard pass.
Thank you to Netgalley and Allie Doherty for this ARC.

A romcom with depth, movie references, angst and more but will Liana and Kade have a HEA? Read to find out...
Releases 27th September 2022
What if you didn't know about love? Didn't believe in it?
I received an early ARC of « Love, Liana Sincerely, Kade ». So early, that the formatting of my eARC was getting on my nerves. Obviously, I hope it’s gonna be all good to go for launch date, september 27th. Once I got over it, Liana and Kade’s story swiped me off my feet.
Liana writes a blog on love, gives advices to her readers, she's good at it and her project is going well… Or it will be going well at some point? Until she gets a message from Kade. He’s in need of advice. He feels he’s not able to love, even thinks he might be a sociopath! For Kade, the womanizer, one night stand is the way to go. Then start a back and forth between our MC.
I read other reviews of that book and I’m not sure I agree on everyone's take. This IS a romance novel. Yes, there's a lot more than that. Each MC has complicated past and needs to deal with their own baggage in order to grow and be happy. I think it adds to the love story in an amazing way.
I feel the story could make a good movie, even a series… Netflix, get those rights! Supporting characters are well developed and the search for balance and happiness of both MC is funny, sexy, and sometimes sad… Just like life!
The book is a terrible slow burn, but in a good way. You’ll be reading trough the night to get there… I know I did!
I recommande this love story to anyone who likes hardly obtain HEA, awkward and funny situations, backstories and rich characters developments.
Liana offers advice on love but is at a loss when it comes to sex. Kade knows all about sex but wants to understand love. A perfect partnership? Well, maybe.
There’s a lot to like in this novel, which can’t truly be classified as a rom-com. It deals with several serious subjects, including drug use, physical abuse and tragic family backgrounds, and that gives it plenty of depth beyond the central romantic relationship. Kade and Liana’s connection is instant and full of chemistry; both are rounded characters with insecurities and flaws and their development in the book is well depicted. The only thing that didn’t really work for me was Liana’s family: they get a lot of page time in the first half and then it kind of fizzles; the issues aren’t completely resolved by the end. I’m guessing there might be a book in the pipeline for Kit that will fill in the gaps?
