2 STARS
The pace was slow and the plot was predictable. It locked the ability to keep my interest.
Thank you and sorry for the delay in reading
Although this had lots of twists and turns I did get a little lost at time. That is why I have given 3 starts otherwise it would have been 4.
The main character was a bit all over the place which I didn't like too much.
It is worth persevering with this book though as it was a good read and storyline.
I'd like to read more by this author.
"Any One of Us" by Martyn Ford is a gripping thriller that keeps readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. The story follows Ruby, who is forced to return to her haunted hometown of Missbrook Bay after her old school friends start getting murdered one by one. Ford masterfully builds suspense as Ruby discovers a chilling pattern in the killings, making every character a potential victim—or the killer. The narrative is intense and fast-paced, with twists and turns that keep you guessing until the very end. Ford's writing vividly brings the eerie atmosphere and the sense of impending danger to life. "Any One of Us" is a must-read for thriller fans who enjoy a tightly woven plot with unforgettable characters and a heart-pounding climax.

This was a really odd one. It took me a while to read and I seriously considered not finishing it several times.
Firstly, I did not jive with the writing styles. The sentences were really choppy. There was a lot of filler sentences and paragraphs. As a result, I found myself skimming through sections of the book. The pace was extremely slow.
Nothing really exciting happens until near the end. It did not really feel like a. thriller even given the lack of suspense and twists.
Finally, I did not connect with a single character. I did not like them and this made it even more difficult to read. It is always hard to read a book when you cannot connect with anyone! Also, the character development was quite poor.

A great thriller - I would recommend it!
I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.
Ruby hears from a friend from the past and is told that two of her classmates were killed. After hearing this news, her old friend isn't responding to any communications. Ruby decides that she must return to the place she ran away from before. She is staying at her ex's house and that house is broken into. Ruby senses that she maybe next. She sees a photo that was a picture of the previous victims and figured out the order of the killings. Ruby has to find the killer before the next victim. A twisted thriller that will keep you guessing and just when you thought you might know who the culprit is, the author throws in some surprises. A well written plot and great characters.

A good read, lots of tension and suspense as the murder count rises. I liked the characters on the whole and it moves along at a nice pace.
***** I have received and read an e - ARC from NetGalley in exchange for giving my honest feedback. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.*****
Not terrible, but not amazing.
It took a while for me to get into the story, and even then it was a struggle to finish. It’s definitely not one I’d ever read again.
A great read
Will keep you guessing to the end
Will have you gripped
And has a big wow factor at the end
Thanks NetGalley
Any One of Us is a phenomenal thriller from start to finish. Filled to the brim with twists and a captivating plot, this one is sure to keep readers hooked. The characters are well-developed. The story is incredibly fast-paced. This is one not to be missed! Highly recommended! Be sure to check out Any One of Us asap.
I had extremely high hopes for this book but it was a bit slow for me. I did finish but it took longer than I normally take.

I read this book not too long ago and honestly, it’s so forgettable that I already forgot some of the key elements.
Let’s start off with what I can actually remember… I liked the premise behind this book and the characters were surprisingly interesting. Was this one of those incredible books? No. But was it a fun time? Absolutely!
I actually liked the writing - choppy sentences at times though - but I found it to be so captivating and it had me intrigued in the story for the most part. The plot also had so much potential, but some missing elements had me a bit confused.
The crime was so fascinating and I feel like I would have loved this more if the characters were more developed, regardless of whether I found them interesting. It gave me One Of Us Is Lying vibes at times, which I found intriguing.
The last part of the book definitely had me more interested. It set off a great mystery and I skimmed a bit to get to the ending. I wanted to know what was going on. I did predict part of the ending, but this book was still enjoyable for what it was.
Thank you NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer (Amazon Publishing) for the gifted galley in exchange for my honest review, all thoughts are my own!
i enjoyed this, i think i wanted more from the characters, like more depth, but overall i enjoyed the murder mystery and trying to unravel everything from my end
I recieved this book from netgalley but as always my review will be honest. I really liked the writing of this book as well as the characters. The plot of the book was good too but somehow it was lacking some more depth in the characters for me. It‘s a basic crime book that I always enjoy, but again I felt like I needed a bit more character depth for the plot to make more sense. Also the ending felt a little rushed for me personally. Other than that I really enjoyed the book and will definitely check out more from this author. It was a real quick read and one that was really easy to follow.
Description:
Her old schoolfriends are dead. She might be next.
When Ruby hears from her best friend Elizabeth that two of their old classmates have been murdered, Ruby is more certain than ever that leaving her hometown was the right decision. But after Elizabeth suddenly stops responding to texts, and Ruby hears a third classmate has been killed, she knows in her heart what has happened. Elizabeth is dead too.
Missbrook Bay is a place haunted by memories Ruby wanted to forget, and people she never wanted to see again, but Ruby has no choice but to go back to investigate. While staying with her ex-boyfriend, she notices a pattern in their full school year photo—the killer seems to be working through victims in a specific order. And after her ex’s house is broken into, Ruby realises nowhere and no one is safe.
There are still many faces left in that photo. Any one of them could be the next victim—and any one of them could be the killer. And with each death, the killer is getting closer to Ruby.
I was lucky to receive an advance copy of Any One of Us by Martyn Ford from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. Unfortunately, I had a hard time with this book, I found it slow and tough to read. I hate leaving a review like this as I appreciated the opportunity to read but this was not one of my favorites.I

This was a tense and suspenseful thriller. The identity of the killer is what kept me intrigued by the story. It was a great quick read with a great ending. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.
Ruby is in Australia when an old school friend calls to advise 2 mutual friends from their school year have been murdered in their small hometown. Ruby, who works for NCA, is called back to Missbrook to help investigate the crimes and turns out there are more victims by the time Ruby arrives. Ruby needs to think back to a high school incident that links all the victims and find the killer before they strike again.
An interesting plot which links cleverly the past and the present. Ruby is a likeable character who doesn’t suffer fools gladly.
I sadly did not like this book as much as I expected I would. It was really hard going in its style and content. I feel I have read similar storylines with much more engaging writing. The chapters felt very long and i believe because of that the pacing was very slow. It wasn't especially detailed, however sentences were very long and this overall made it a difficult read. I didn't manage to get to the end of this book, I gave up at 45%. This author is not for me, sorry.
