What a creative book! I love that the dog and squirrel are buds and who could resist a dog who reads books?! Seriously so fun!
This picture book had very fun illustrations and a simple story about trying to outwit your friends. There was a lot of text on each page so this may be best for older readers or kids who don't mind a longer book.
Oh my goodness what a cute book! My grandkids love everything about animals and nature. This was a clever story with fun illustrations. I definitely recommend it! Thanks #NetGalley #ClavisPublishing
This book was really beautiful as far as it goes with the illustrations. I didn't liked the story very much though because I think that children's books teaches something. And I don't like the idea of competition and comparison between two or three kids. Aside from that though, it was a really beautiful book.
"Who's the smartest?" is a fun story for kids. It's bursting with all the Autumn vibes. The colours and the aesthetics are cute and warm as can be. The idea is also fresh and original as the three animals are trying to outsmart one another. The book is surely going to entertain children ages 4 and up.
Thank you to Netgalley and Clavis Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC. #netgalley #whosthesmartest
I read this book with my nephew. My nephew wasn't really interested in the story. And he loves books! And I have to admit I lost interest really quickly. He was drawn to the illustrations which were beautiful. I think this children's book is a miss for me.
A battle of wits is always a good story theme. I enjoyed that the characters ended up helping each other while thinking they’ve outsmarted the opponent. The actual story, however, is abrupt and seems as though it’s missing things. We suddenly change activities and thoughts and there’s not really any transitions. Some children may enjoy it more in the sense that it’s just blunt points being made as they often think but I prefer a story to flow.
Who's the Smartest? is an adorable story about friendship between Olive, the dog, and Squirrel, the squirrel. Olive wants to play with Squirrel, but Squirrel is always too busy to play with her. Then Fox appears, and Olive must find a way to distract Fox from Squirrel. Each animal finds a way to prove that they are the smartest by tricking the other animals into doing what they want them to do.
This story had beautiful illustrations, and the story was very clever in how it showed the power of friendship. The characters were very funny, and I was rooting for each of the three animals. The book could appeal to young children because of the pictures and the story. It is easy to follow and understand. My favorite part was seeing how smart each animal was. The animals show that everyone can be smart in their own individual way, and that is such a powerful message for all children to hear.
Who is the smartest among these animals. Lots to look at fun, fun banter between the animals. A cute read. I loved the dog.
Thanks NetGalley for this ARC!
Olive, the dog wants to play with Squirrel. Squirrel wants to collect acorn for the winter. Fox wants to nibble at Squirrel. It's almost a love triangle - everyone wants something else. Luckily, Olive has a plan to keep everyone happy, and on top of that they all think that they are the smart one. Win-win-win.
This is a cute picture book with adorable drawings, and it simply radiates autumn with its warm colours.
Thank you NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for this Advance Review Copy.
This was a really fun story and the illustration style was really whimsical.
Who’s the Smartest by Ellen DeLange was a story about a dog named Olive who always wants to play with his friend Squirrel. But Squirrel is always too busy collecting acorns to prepare for the coming winter to have time to play.
One day he sees Fox trying to harass Squirrel and he decides to intervene, and tricks Fox into helping him dig up some bones for him. Squirrel ends up with an idea to trick both of them into gathering acorns for him and before they know it each of them have found exactly what the wanted. Olive finds someone to play with, Fox finds hidden treats and Squirrel is now prepared for the winter!
Olive the dog wants to play with her friend Squirrel, but Squirrel can't play. Olive finds a new friend with Fox, but does fox have other motives?
I loved the illustrations here but the story wasn't my favorite.
This adorable book is about a dog who just wants to play with his friend squirrel, a squirrel who needs to gather food for the winter, and a fox who is looking for food. The illustrations are vibrant and beautifully done, and the multiple points of view were a fun addition to this children’s story. My 7 and 5 year old kids loved the dog and thought the ending was pretty funny where each animal thought they were so smart. This is a cute fall read, as it talks about the squirrel storing up food for the winter.
Thank you to NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for the ARC of this fun story, my kids really enjoyed it!
I have a six year old who is going into first grade, and I felt reading this story to her a couple different times she found something new each time. I personally enjoyed the questions that she asked after each reading working out the three different points of view of how the day of play went with all three characters. She learned from this story, and how playing with kids each have their own ideas about why they are playing.
Will Olive the dog outwit the fox who wants to eat squirrel who doesn't have time to play because he has to collect acorns for the winter?
The illustrations by Malgosia Zajac are delightful, colorful, vibrant, imaginative, and FUN!
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age.
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Clavis Publishing via NetGalley. Thank you!
Adorable! Am I partial because I have a dog that chases squirrels constantly? Yeah, probably. I hope Olive gets to play with squirrel tomorrow :)
A fox, and squirrel, and a dog are all trying to get what they want. In the end they all get it, but who is the smartest in doing it? This is an interesting take on how different perspectives of the same situation can be.

This is a charming tale of a dog, a squirrel and a fox. Who is the smartest of them all?
Illustrations are vibrant and colorful.
