This was a really good addition to this already outstanding series. While there are absolute moments of levity [HOW could there not be with Lois around? And with Ruth Yoder and her pontifications? THOUGH, I think those who read this series will be absolutely surprised by Ruth towards the end of the book; I know I WAS and it was both hilarious and fantastically endearing and makes me like Ruth a little more than I did before], but for the most part [you'd think murder would be enough to put a damper on a book, but alas, not this time], this was a really sad book and extremely true to life and the end/reveal just about broke my heart. There really was no happy ending with this one, but there is HOPE of one and the actions taken by the community of Harvest is very heartwarming indeed.

I want to just go on and on and on about this book, but alas, I cannot. You need to read this one cold. Go in blind and with zero expectations and just experience as the characters do. And then you [like I did] dig deep down in yourself to see how you can be a part of the solution to this problem that is truly everywhere. It will take us all.

Honeymoons Can Be Hazardous is the fourth book in the fun-to-read Amish Matchmaker series, which is a spin-off from her Amish Candy Shop series. The Matchmaker series features the unlikely best friends of Amish matchmaker Millie Fisher and non-Amish Lois Henry. Their beliefs and personalities are very different, but both are kind-hearted and smart. Their strong friendship, in spite of their differences, is a highlight of this series. Although as likable as the two friends are, sometimes Jethro the pig and Phillip and Peter the goats steal the show.

In this book, Millie and Lois team up to solve a murder that hits close to home for one of the women. The book tackles some serious subjects related to the increased drug use in rural Ohio, including the Amish community. Millie puts herself in danger since catching the killer would not only get justice for the victim but also benefit the whole community. In spite of this, it is overall a fun book with plenty of happy and touching moments to balance out the sad ones. A couple of developments at the end of the book make me eager to find out what is in store for each woman in the next installment.

I received an advance copy of this ebook at no cost from NetGalley, through the courtesy of Kensington Books. My review is voluntary and unbiased.

Lois Henry and her best friend Millie Fisher, a member of the Old Order Amish, are back as a murder solving duo.
The odd duo of spikey haired Lois Henry and her best friend Millie Fisher, a member of the Old Order Amish, have another murder to solve. Only this time, it’s personal because Lois is one of the suspects. The murder victim is Paige “Honeybee” Moorhead. She is the wife of Gerome “Rocksino-Guy” Moorhead, Lois’ ex-husband. Paige dies when a large cuckoo clock malfunctions, crushing her to death.
Lois’s former relationship with Rocksino-Guy puts her on Deputy Luke Little’s suspect list along with her former husband. Lois knows neither of them murdered Paige, and she is determined, with Millie’s (aka Amish Marple) help to bring the murderer to justice.
While investigating Paige’s murder, Lois and Millie stumble upon a drug smuggling ring in Holmes County. Though neither has any desire to cross paths with a drug dealer, their murder investigation becomes more intertwined with the drug problem in the county, putting them both in danger.
Honeymoons Can Be Hazardous is book 4 in the Amish Matchmaker Series. It’s always a treat to come back to the village of Harvest and interact with familiar characters and meet new ones. The tone of this book is a bit darker, but it still fits into the series. There is still humor (especially with Millie’s goats). The strength of the relationships, especially the lifelong friendship between Millie and Lois shines in this book. In spite of their very different lifestyles, the women have each other’s back.
Honeymoons Can Be Hazardous is a great addition to the Amish Matchmaker series.
Thanks to #Netgalley for providing a copy of the book.

There have been some original murder weapons in mysteries before. An icicle pops to mind. However, Honeymoons Can Be Hazardous definitely has the most original weapon used lately. A newlywed bride is killed by a giant cuckoo in front of her hotel. The cuckoo was cut loose from its cable sending it plunging five feet down from its giant clock into the victim. You might say that is a truly cuckoo way to die!

Millie is an Amish widow who dabbles in matchmaking and murder. Her non-Amish friend Lois has a problem. After being startled by seeing her fourth ex-husband in her small town of Harvest, Ohio, she is rude to both him and his new wife. Lois convinces Millie to go with her to the couple’s hotel to apologize. Prior to even seeing her ex, his bride is killed by the cuckoo. Lois begs Millie to help her clear her ex-husband’s name so she will not have the mental anguish of being attracted to a murderer. Millie agrees and the game is afoot!

I love the Harvest stories from both this series and the Amish Candy Shop one. This book brings in some reality with the problem of drug and alcohol addiction prominently featured. While I agree it is an important issue, it broke into my usual carefree fantasy that these humorous cozy mysteries provide. However, the interactions between Millie and Lois along with their friends and neighbors did provide a bit of cheerfulness. Due to this change in tone, Honeymoons Can Be Hazardous, unfortunately, receives a 3 star review from me.

Thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for a digital review copy of the book.

This is the fourth book in the Amish Matchmaker Mystery series and the second series set in this universe (and by far my favorite). I love that the dynamic sleuthing duo are two grandmothers one Amish and one English. They are amazing characters and the side characters in this world are also awesome. I also love getting a little bit of Amish culture with the cute, funny, and light mysteries. I should say characters do continue to develop as the series continues but this book could be read as a standalone. Millie and Lois again find themselves at the site of a murder, this time as the poor woman is killed. But that poor woman happens to be one of Lois’ ex-husband’s new wife so while the couple was together they worry Lois may be a suspect so of course they have to investigate.

Glad to get a brief glimpse of Bailey as I always like character crossovers. The two super sleuth grannies are great. Lois is always good for comic relief without being over the top (to me anyway) These series always make me want to visit an Amish area. The mystery kept me guessing.

Honeymoons Can Be Hazardous by Amanda Flower is a fun cozy mystery. I laughed often while reading the fourth An Amish Matchmaker Mystery. Millie and Lois have a new case. Gerome Moorhead, Lois’ most recent ex-husband, is in Harvest, Ohio on his honeymoon to the newest Mrs. Moorhead (aka Honeybee). When Honeybee gets clocked by an oversized cuckoo, Lois rises to the top of the suspect list. Millie aka the Amish Marple is on the case. Of course, Lois is not about to be left behind. Can the duo uncover the killer before Lois gets carted off to the hoosegow? Honeymoons Can Be Hazardous is a delight to read. I like Amanda Flower’s writing style. It is relaxed and engaging. I quickly found myself drawn into the story. I was quickly flipping the pages to find out what happened next. I love a book that makes me laugh. There are great characters in this series. They are fun and quirky. Millie has her goats who seem to understand her. She has added a cat to the household. Lois is a hoot. She is the opposite of Millie. Lois likes busy patterns and loud colors. She carries a purse that reminds me of Mary Poppins satchel. You never know what Lois will pull out of her purse (there is at least one rubber mallet in there—you never know when you are going to need one--and let us not forget the staple gun). Margot Rawlings is the village’s community organizer. This is one woman that you wish to avoid, or you will find yourself “volunteered” to help with an event. Let us not forget Juliet Brook, the pastor’s wife, and her pet pig, Jethro. Juliet plans to make Jethro a Hollywood star. The whodunit was entertaining. Lois and Millie manage to get into a scrape or two (thanks to Lois). Millie asks questions and searches for clues. I like how the whodunit involved both the Amish and the English communities. The mystery delved into an issue that is prevalent in our country. No sect is immune as we see in this story. My only complaint is that the mystery was easy to solve. I easily picked out the guilty party early in the story. The antics of Millie’s goats had me laughing out loud. The author gave the goats great personalities. Honeymoons Can Be Hazardous can be read as a standalone, but you are missing out by not reading all the books in this delightful series. There is a preview of Blueberry Blunder at the end which is the eighth An Amish Candy Shop Mystery. Honeymoons Can Be Hazardous is a witty whodunit with a polka dotted pig, a clobbered bride, a bulging bag, rampageous goats, a caring community, and the Amish Marple.

Millie and Lois cannot catch a break, but they sure can catch a killer. These two ladies are a pure delight as they go about their daily lives in the small town of Harvest, Ohio and as usual, they are caught up in another murder. This one hit Lois hard as it involves her fourth husband, apparently, she is not one to give up on romance and finding love, which is at odds with her best friend, Millie, the once married and now Amish widow.

I adore these two characters, they are older, complete opposites who have managed to remain friends for many years. They are always there for each other, especially in this story as they once again team up to prove the innocence of someone who looks mighty suspicious and find the real killer. There are a lot of surprises, several laugh out loud moments but most of all another well plotted, perfectly paced wonderful novel by Amanda Flower. I was kept guessing until the very end. I am ready for the next book in this series. If you like a fantastic cozy mystery, I highly recommend this one and the entire series.

I received a copy from the publisher through Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

A spinoff of the author’s Amish Candy Shop series this book features Millie, an Amish matchmaker, and her longtime English friend Lois. Though they are total opposites, somehow their friendship works. And when Lois is a suspect in the death of her ex-husband’s new wife Millie helps her investigate.

Although this is a cozy mystery and has plenty of laugh out loud moments it also has a serious side as it deals with the problem of drug abuse. It’s a well written story that’s hard to put down.

Lighthearted and fun, Millie and Lois make a great team to solve this mystery with wonderful characters and interesting setting among the Amish.

Another fun hit with Millie and Lois solving a murder in Amish country. And of course the lovable pig is around as well. Dealing with the death of a curmudgeon town resident, a lot of secrets are slowly revealed. Great story in a good series by a wonderful author. Highly recommend.

Amish matchmaker Millie is back again! Her partner in crime solving, Lois, is shocked when her fourth (ex) husband shows up with his new wife. When that new wife winds up dead, Lois naturally is the main suspect. Millie must investigate to clear her friend’s name.

A solid cozy mystery with unique protagonists.

What a light and fun cozy mystery! The writing was great as were the characters. It was interesting learning some things I didn't know about Amith culture. The goats were hands down the best characters! This was a great book, the fourth in a series, and I think I'd go back to read the first three.

It was darn audacious for Gerome, Lois's ex-husband, to come to town with Paige, his new and much younger wife. Lois, despite being over him, is still annoyed but then.....Paige is murdered. She doesn't think Gerome did it nor did she but unfortunately, they're on the suspect list. Never fear, Millie and Lois will find the real villain! What sets this series apart from other cozies is the characrers- Lois and Millie are, ahem, mature, Millie is Amish, and Lois is not. It's a great relationship as is the setting (love the farm and the animals). Don't worry if you haven't read the earlier books- this will be fine as a standalone. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A good read.

Amanda Flower takes us back to the village of Harvest, Ohio and the characters in the Matchmaker series. Amish widow, Millie, and her best friend, Englisher, Lois, join forces once again as an unfortunate death has taken place. The person murdered, happens to be the new wife of Lois’ former husband, Gerome Moorhead. Of course, Lois is considered a suspect.

Millie and Lois go to work to try to solve this mystery and prove Lois had nothing to do with the murder. As they uncover clues to the murder, several people become suspects and the story takes many twists and turns.

You will not want to put this book down until you have finished it to find out how the mystery is solved and who the murderer is. I highly recommend this book to those who love to read cozy mysteries. I look forward to the next book in this series to see what kind of activities take place in Harvest, Ohio.

Millie’s friend, Lois, is more than stunned when Gerome, one of her former husbands (she’s had four!) shows up in Harvest – with his new, much younger, wife in tow. When the new bride is killed the next day, Lois and Gerome are at the top of the police’s suspect list.

This is another entertaining series set in the mostly Amish town of Harvest, Ohio, which I have enjoyed since the first book. It’s a spinoff of the Amish Candy Shop series, but only a few of the characters from the original series show up in this series, and then only in cameos. While I learn more about the Amish way of life from the Candy Shop series, there are still lessons in this Matchmaker series too. I like that Millie’s best friend is anything but Amish, but they use their differences to their advantage, during their investigations and the day to day lives.

The mystery in this book was challenging, because the murder victim was a stranger to the area, so there weren’t many suspects other than the obvious two. As Millie and Lois investigated, they uncovered more clues that added more people to the list, as well as a good motive, and I thought I knew who the killer was. I was wrong, of course, but at least I had the motive right. I look forward to reading more of Millie and Lois’s adventures in the next book in this series.

Lois and Milly are back, in Amanda Flower's newest installment in her Amish Matchmaker Mystery series; Honeymoons Can Be Hazardous #4. I do enjoy these fun, fast paced mysteries! Though a real-life social blight is discussed, Ms. Flower handles it with finesse. A highly unusual murder, friendship, small town community, and tourists add to the sleuths rush to solve the crime. A quick pace with red herrings, adds to fun and leads to a satisfying conclusion. This series is an automatic "buy" in my world.

Honeymoons Can be Hazardous is the fourth mystery in the An Amish Matchmaker Mystery series and once again, Millie and Lois are on the case when Lois’ ex-husband turns up with his new wife who winds up dead. Millie, and Amish matchmaker, and Lois, a loud and flamboyant Englischer, are an likely pair, but the best of friends and highly entertaining when they are trying to sleuth out a murderer.

I have loved this series, and every other Amanda Flower series, from the very beginning and this latest mystery definitely didn’t disappoint! I love the world Amanda Flower has built in Harvest and am always very excited to read a new installation of this series or her Amish Candy Shop Mystery series set in the same town. The characters are so fun, engaging and likable and the mystery keeps you guessing as you follow along with Millie and Lois’ crazy adventures. I highly recommend this book and this entire series to anyone who is intrigued by fun, cozy mysteries in Amish town! I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book!
