Four Leaf Cleaver by Maddie Day is a great cozy mystery that is the eleventh book in the wonderful Country Store Mystery series. I just love this series!
I have read all of the books within this series, and it just seems to begetting better and better. I feel a kindred spirit with Robbie Jordan, and I have nothing but respect for her balancing her business, friends, marriage, and family with class, love, acceptance, and at the same time…no nonsense. I love the development of all of the characters within South Lick, Indiana as the books have progressed and Ms. Day continues to draw me in with each book.
I loved the St. Patrick’s Day theme, the murder/mystery, and the ending ;)
5/5 stars
Thank you NG and Kensington Books for this wonderful arc and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.
I am posting this review to my GR and Bookbub accounts immediately and will post it to my Amazon, Instagram, and B&N accounts upon publication on 1/31/23.
I always enjoyed visiting with Robbie and crew. It's amazing how fresh the author keeps it with the majority of each story line taking place in the restaurant. There's even a nice twist with one of the murders.
I received a copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
Robbie owner/ chef at Pans ‘N’ Pancakes has an opportunity to add a little extra to her coffers by hosting a ‘roaming cooking competition’ when she would normally be closed. A little extra cash is always a positive, being paid for the use of the dining room and renting a few rooms in the B & B.
Tara, the woman running the production is found upstairs...dead and the day is filled with the police. The company decides to go on with having and taping the competition despite not knowing who killed Tara, and another death occurs. Robbie, Buck and Oscar are digging for information on anyone connected, pulling in more police help and feeling like they’re getting nowhere, until Robbie’s questions begin to pay off, unfortunately one of those questioned is the sister of the murderer and she’s told him about being questioned. Buck and Oscar arrive.. just barely in the nick of time. I love this series, I find it very entertaining.
I requested and Received a NetGalley ARC to peruse gratis and offer my opinion in the same vein
This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from Kensington Books and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
A fun, light cozy mystery with a lovely setting. Maddie Day is a master of the genre. Don’t hesitate to clear your schedule for this delightful read.
I enjoyed this book. The characters are great and the food is making me hungry. The ending is great. I was surprised by who the killer is. #FourLeafCleaver #NetGalley
Maddie Day is one of my favorite cozy mystery writers. Four Leaf Cleaver is as delightful as the rest of this Country Store series.
Set on Saint Patrick's Day, Robbie who owns the Country Store and Pans and Pancakes restaurant, is decorated for the holiday and is hosting a cooking competition.
The event is being filmed live but before it can take place the producer is found murdered. She was not a woman who was popular so there is a long list of suspects.
The book is an easy read - a cozy mystery for a cozy day. I recommend and and all of Maddie Day's books - including this seasonal delight.
Thanks to the publisher and Net Galley for this ARC
Four Leaf Cleaver is the latest book in Maddie Day's Country Store Mysteries. Set in rural Indiana around ~30ish Robbie Jordan, proprietress of a breakfast and lunch eatery, solve crimes on the side. Nope, she's not a private investigator or policewoman... but she's got a knack for getting people to talk. And almost dying. This time, a contest is held at her store/restaurant and she's involved in filming the tv episode around it. Too bad one of the show people up and dies before the filming begins. As the story unfolds, many of the people (contestants, judges and behind-the-scenes staff) have connections to Robbie's friends. Which one of them killed over it? Day has produced a clever St. Patrick's Day tale that adds some spring flavor to our step. All the food and recipes are delicious-sounding, but my favorite part is the relationship between Robbie and her husband, Abe. Lots of side stories coming together, and the police detective, Buck Bird, is getting much smarter. Another wonderful installment and I definitely recommend the series.
