A personal story of one woman's journey and her family, from Uganda, in a refugee camp, and is able to escape to the US, and end up apart of the broken and triggering foster care system. The author bares her heart and soul out in this story. It is extremely emotional to read what she and her siblings had to endure in their lives and showed their strength and perseverance.
I received a copy of the book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review of my own thoughts and opinions.
What an inspirational story!! In this book, Desange Kuenihira shares her story of fleeing her homeland in the Congo, the struggles of living in a refugee camp, and ultimately landing in the United States of America. Once in America, she & her siblings had to navigate the complexities of the American Foster Child system. Through it all, Kuenihira knew the importance of education for her success. As a result of her journey, she has launched a nonprofit to empower other girls & women in similar situations as hers. Her story is a remarkable one of courage, perseverance, and compassion.
