Thank you to Netgally, the publishers, and April Asher

When I requested this book I was unaware that it was apart of a series, one that requires you to read the previous books for this one to make sense. I am unable to read all the previous books along with this one before the publish date. Therefore, I will rate this a fair 3/5 stars and will adjust the rating and review when I am able to read all the books in the series along with this one.

Thank you St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for ARC of the book.

It is the second book in the Supernatural Singles series. This time we get a chance to know better a second Maxwell sister - Rose. What was supposed to be one-night stand with a half-demon turns into working together as a community service. While Rose trying is to find her future career she might also find love on her way there. But there’s one “but” - ex’s hex.

The second book follows the style of a first one- funny here, a little bit of spice there and a lot of supernaturals and magic.

Former Prima Apparent Rose Maxwell is at loose ends. No longer next line to run the Supernatural Council – a role she’s trained for her whole life – she’s determined to find what her new “thing” is. But after an equine rescue mission goes wrong, Rose ends up doing community service at an animal sanctuary run by none other than her super hot one-night stand. Damian Adams is grumpy, not in the least of which is due to a soul hex that could cause the half-demon side of him to take over should he ever fall in love. Now Rose is in his path, knocking his socks off at every turn. Neither can forget their previous encounter so what’s wrong with a little no-strings-attached fun while they work together? Nothing, except they’re clearly meant to be…

Not Your Ex’s Hexes is a sprightly and fun continuation of the Supernatural Singles series. Rose is powerful and smart, but she hasn’t yet found her place in the world after giving up the role she’s trained for. She finds it when working with Damian, however. Both rescuing animals and becoming a Hunter call to her. Damian has no issue with the former, but the latter nearly cost him everything back when he was a teenager and he doesn’t want to see Rose hurt – or worse. The two of them spar but respect each other’s strength. It was fun to see Rose find her gifts and I liked watching Damian open up and learn to find happiness again. The two of them have great chemistry and I enjoyed watching them work and play together.

The course of true love doesn’t run smooth when a hex is involved for one of the parties and I was interested to see how April Asher would make things work for our protagonists. The result is a satisfying end to the love story, but that’s all I’ll say about that. Along the way, Rose and Damian are aided by their family and friends (whether or not they want to be). I thoroughly enjoy the world Asher created with its witches, angels, demons, vampires, and more. I finished Not Your Ex’s Hexes ready to dive right into the next adventure featuring Rose’s sister Olive because I am absolutely charmed by the Supernatural Singles world.

This was very cute - I love how this author works supernatural beings into a contemporary setting without making it too over the top. I loved the main couple - they had great chemistry and banter. I can't wait to read the third book asap!

I had a really great time reading this book! I really enjoyed the first time, it was a really enjoyable read, and I was looking forward to this one. This one was just as good, I loved being back in this world, and I really enjoyed these two and their romance! I mean, a hunter turned vet? What more could a girl ask for? Besides commitment?

We had talk about their first meeting, and then saw their second, in the first book, if I remember correctly. I was really looking forward to see how their story would unfold, now that her circumstances are changed, and she's free to choose a new path. Though she's having a hard time figuring out what she wants to do.

The fact that they had a one night stand, and then she ends up having to do community service at his vet clinic, meaning that they had to spend all this time together...yeah, it was a lot of fun to read, and I really enjoyed watching their relationship progress! The fact that her idea of camera feeds that people can watch to fundraise for the shelter was so great! I do wish we could've gotten a bit of a conclusion, of how successful it had become, not just the initial take off.

Learning more about Damian and his story was really great, because he's basically a new character, with the brief appearance that he had in the first book. I loved getting to know him and the events of his past that are having an effect on his present, and how they dealt with them! The fact that he had to do is grand gesture, I just loved that!

This was a really wonderful read, and I can't wait to read more by April Asher!

oh my goodness, i only slightly regret reading this series in the wrong order, but at this point i cannot tell you what couple is my favorite. rose & damian we're honestly so cute! i love the fwb trope because they always fall in love without acknowledging they're actually in love. 😂😂 i enjoyed all of the magical shenanigans, meddling grandma edie & don't even get me started on the spice & protective vibes!! just 10/10 amazing!! i cannot recommend this book enough!!

Not Your Ex's Hexes is that book you pick up when you want to feel the camaraderie of sisterly love while rolling in uncontrollable laughter!

I could not put this book down and honestly ate it all up in one sitting. I loved the character dynamic between Rose and Damian and their banter was EVERYTHING! Damian's cold exterior and marshmallow interior made me fall hard as compared to Miss Down a Notch Rose who is struggling to find her place in the world.

The real winner has to be the supporting characters in this story. I truly felt like I was part of a family looking in at their antics. The togetherness and support hit me right in the feels.

It helps that there was some SMUT. Not like an overbearing amount, but just the right amount to have you fanning yourself.

This was a real winner and I look forward to more from April.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review.

This book took me so much longer than it should have to read. I wanted to love it. After reading the synopsis, I thought it would be perfect for me. I even received an ARC from Netgalley and the publisher because I was so excited about this book. Sadly, the book didn’t deliver as well as I thought it would.

It may be because I haven’t read the first one yet. I feel as though, yes, the book is a standalone but is read much better in order. It throws you into the action pretty quickly with pre-established characters and references to the first book that play a huge part in this book. There’s a possibility that if I had read the first one, maybe I would have enjoyed this one more.

The other issue I had with the book was while it was an easy read, I didn’t feel like “OMG I’VE GOT TO READ THIS!”. I could pick the book up weeks later and understand what’s going on. I could go days or even weeks without picking it up because I just wasn’t interested in it. Now, it did get better towards the end of the book.

Overall? I’d give it a 3.5 star rating. I do want to read the first one and hopefully there’s a third? I think there is or one that is about to come out. For anyone curious about this series, they are definitely best read in order.

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the eARC.

I didn't read the first book, so that may have changed my opinion of this one, but I doubt it. It was cute. That's basically it.

The characters weren't well-developed, the banter felt forced, and I felt like the reader was told a lot (vs. learning through the story). Overall, it was pretty fluffy and forgettable.

I liked this book! It’s fun and witchy, perfect for October. Rose was trained her whole life to become the next head witch. Released from that future, she explores what life looks like when living for her. After a one night stand with a broody half demon vet, romance starts brewing between them! It was a quick and fun read.

Second in the Supernatural Singles series. You don't need to read the first one to understand or enjoy this book. I love the family and friendship dynamics as well as the humorous and witty dialogue. If you love witchy magical reads then pick this one up.

Rose Maxwell has spent her whole life training to be the next prima of the supernatural world. Now that Violet has taken her rightful place, Rose is free to do what she wants and she is now a bit lost. She has a hot one night stand with one of Lincoln's friends, then tries to save a horse and gets caught trying to save a horse. She gets community service at the sanctuary that the Damian the one night stand runs. Things get interesting.

This was a fun spicy witchy romance. I was thoroughly entertained by Rose's antics. I can't wait to read the next one in the series.

Not Your Ex's Hexes is the second in a series of witchy romances. Cuteness abounds in this story of a curvy witch, newly displaced and floundering in her life's mission, and a grouchy veterinarian who was cursed by an ex back during his younger, and more selfish, past.

Omg. I love this witchy rom com it's so absolutely amazing and cute! As the second book in the supernatural singles series this did not disappoint. My favorite was the banter between Rose and Damian!! And I love the grumpy/sunshine trope.

This was the story I never knew I needed.

Rose has been training to be the prima her entire life and was stuck in a relationship she never wanted. Now she is free to be herself and be with whoever she wants. She has found herself in some trouble and is now volunteering at the vet rescue she attempted to break into.

Damian has been trying to run away from who he truly is and his past. That is until a certain female enters his life and upends all of his plans.

Why I loved this book:
~dual pov
~Paranormal Romance
~Enemies-to-Lovers
~Close proximity
~Finding Oneself

Thank you so much Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to arc read this amazing book.

"Not Your Ex's Hexes" by April Asher weaves a captivating tale of Rose Maxwell, a determined witch, and Damian Adams, a broody half-demon. Their one-night stand unleashes a series of magical mishaps, leading them on an adventurous journey. As Rose navigates her newfound path as a Hunter, the dynamics between her and Damian evolve in a friends-with-benefits arrangement. The story beautifully explores their sparking attraction amidst the challenges of Rose's demon-hunting endeavors and Damian's reluctance. Asher skillfully blends supernatural elements with the complexities of love, making this novel a spellbinding read. The looming threat of Damian losing his humanity adds an intriguing twist, keeping readers hooked until the last page.

The follow-up to Not the Witch You Wed, follows the middle Maxwell sister, Rose. Rose has no idea what she wants to do with her life, she planned to be the Prima, but since she stepped down and broke her bond agreement with the defunct European Alpha she knows she does not want to be in a relationship. She has her first and only one-night stand, and it happens to be the attractive Demon Vet former college roommate of her Elder sister’s mate. Damian owns a pet sanctuary in which Rose, and her sisters, break into to free the abused-looking horses. They get caught and Rose gets community service at Damians’ ranch. Insert chaos and crazy times.

I really appreciate the author’s witchy rom-com series for its engaging and relatable characters, witty banter, and magical twist. The sisters and their partners all have unique and likable personalities that keep the reader invested in their struggles and pursuit of happiness. The story’s blend of romance and magic makes for an immersive world that readers won’t want to leave. Additionally, the detail of the sisters’ magic matching the color of their books and their respective names is a delightful touch. If you’re a fan of rom-coms with a supernatural twist and enjoy clever dialogue, then this series is definitely worth checking out. The second book in the series is just as entertaining as the first, so don’t hesitate to dive in!
