In the very beginning i would say i didn't understand a single thing but that could have been my fault i didn't read the first book but now that i'm more into this book understand what's going on and definitely wanna go back and read the other books.
The not understanding and the ending was really the only problem i had while reading this book like the ending i didn’t really like how rose acted to callie but like i understand why she acted like that but like callie was 18 same goes for damion so the way rose acted to callie was idk i just didn’t like it but that was me
The not understanding and the little part of the ending has been my only problem like it isn't a slow burn thank the gods i can't with slow burns and it all just happened really fast but not in a way that you feel the book was rushed.
and let me tell you the tension or like i don't even know how to say it but like you could just feel it while reading, especially in this one scene (NO SPOILER) but she may or may not have gotten hurt and OMFG <3
does this book have a predictable plot yes but there are a lot of things that also happens in this book that just makes it so much more interesting to read also getting a sneak peak of the maybe so next book too? ;)
I loved this one even more than the first book. I laughed, I cried, I swooned. Damian is 🔥. I couldn't put this down. This is the perfect cozy, spicy, witchy Valentine's Day read. I love the family and the friends. Perfect character development. I really hope there are going to be more books (Olive or even Harper). I highly recommend you picking this up February 7th!

Stop the cauldron! This witchy romance brought the heat. We loved the second Maxwell sister’s story. Previously mated to a bad supernatural kitty, Rose is ready to take the world by storm. No one can stand in her way until the sexy part demon veterinarian finds his way in. Damian should be a slam dunk new lover interact but no, Asher throws us for a delightful hoop. Damian has a hex placed on him - we learn all about him and his hex across this captivating novel.
The Maxwell sisters continue to be a delight and we are left with an HEA that is awesome. I’m sooooo anticipating Olive’s story next.
Highlights:
🪄 A hex to end all hexes
🐴 animal sanctuary hijinx
🧙♀️ witchy heroine
😈 demon love interest
👯♀️ sister love that cannot be replaced

April Asher, aka April Hunt, was hooked on romantic stories from the time she first snuck a bodice-ripper romance out from her mom's bedside table. She now lives out her own happily-ever-after with her college-sweetheart husband, their two children, and a cat who thinks she's more dog—and human—than feline. By day, April dons dark blue nursing scrubs and drinks way too much caffeine. By night, she still consumes too much caffeine, but she does it with a laptop in hand, and from her favorite side of the couch.
“… when someone finds their purpose, magical things happen.”
Rose is trying to figure out what her calling is. Now that her sister is working with the Prima, her day has a lot of empty hours when she crosses paths with the hot veterinarian, and their chemistry is off the charts. Too bad he has secrets.
This was cute. I enjoyed the storyline, though I wish I had read the first book before reading this one. I feel like there were details I missed without reading the first book.
The storytelling was fun, and I enjoyed the plot. I don’t usually read this romance genre, but I enjoyed the magic. I found the pacing perfect for the story, and I enjoyed the characters.
This was a charming read. The personalities were all larger than life, which made sense for a supernatural community. I enjoyed Rose and Damien finding their way, and the side characters were all the perfect comedic relief.
I think this series will be really good. A lot of thought and planning has gone into bringing this world to life, and the development is strong. I would read the third book.
Rose has stepped down from her position as the Prima Apparent. But that means she is now looking for her vocation. A bad idea leads to community service at her one night stand's animal sanctuary,
The sanctuary veterinarian Damian is half-demon and prefers animals to people. He can't fall in love because his ex hexed him. But hey, he can totally pull off no strings attached with Rose, right?
This book is so much fun. I love the irreverent tone throughout. Rose has such great dry wit and sarcasm. Her adventures as she finds her path are hilarious. And the chapter titles are also funny (my personal favorite: Save a Cowboy, Ride a Broomstick).
There's also a bit of depth with bringing together many different types of supernaturals and their suspicions and stereotypes of each other. I would have liked Damien's struggles to be explored a bit more and resolved further through an extended ending.
But overall, I.loved being back in this world and can't wait for the third Maxwell triplet to get her story with a certain Guardian Angel.

So I liked this a lot more than book 1! This is an interconnected standalone series.
I really liked this storyline. It was fun and not too heavy. I enjoyed the characters too. Writing is good. Magic system makes sense. Fun family dynamics.
I didn’t remember a lot from book 1. This did a good job catching up on the info that you needed- not a lot.
This was just a fun read. Not super witchy that I would justify reading only during Halloween.
18+ there are like 3 spicy scenes- alludes to more. Explicit, but not very long. It’s better spice than I remember in book 1.
I loved the animals. I loved the romance. Strong female leads. Drool worthy men. Witty grandma badass. I am a fan.
Special thanks to Netgalley and St Martin’s Press for this digital ARC.
From the beginning, this book drew me in. Damian and Rose were so good together. A gumpy/sunshine supernatural book. I loved the banter between all the characters and definitely want to read more about them. I didn't read the first book in this series, but I definitely will.
pretty meh on this one, the characters were not that interesting or original, damian was very boring
📚✨Book Review✨📚
Not Your Ex’s Hexes
Author: April Asher
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.💫
Note: I received a copy of this book to review via NetGalley, but all opinions are my own. This is book 2 in the series and while it can be read as a standalone, I’d recommend starting with book 1.
What I Liked:
✨The best part of this ENTIRE series is the love and support between the three Maxwell sisters and their grandmother. They are always there to provide help, guidance, and boozy ice cream when needed. Maybe it’s because I don’t have a sister, but I love books that show women building up women.
✨When we first see Rosie in this book, she’s lost. She broke up with her fiancé, doesn’t have a job that reflects her or one she is passionate about. It would be easy to have a man/boyfriend be the one that fixes the issue. I loved the fact that Rosie is the one that finds her way herself. Yes, she does meet Damien who is absolutely one steamy hot demon, but he doesn’t solve her problems for her…she does!
✨Slightly spoilery….The third act breakup in this one (listen, you knew it was gonna happen) is one I don’t mind. At least it’s a plausible reason. And don’t worry, it gets resolved of course!
What I Didn’t Like:
✨I wanted a bit more resolution between Damien and his family, particularly his brother. Since he is seen throughout the book, I’d like to have a clearer picture of what happens next as well as perhaps a run-in with his father.
Final Thoughts:
✨I am so happy I discovered April Asher. This series is a cute, fun, magical spree and I loved every minute of the first two books. I think it’s clear to readers the next book will be about the third sister, Olive and a certain someone. I will be eagerly anticipating it’s release hopefully soon!

This was such an amazing book. You get a much better look into the middle sister of the Maxwell triad, Rose. She struggles to find her place after backing down from being Prima apparent and she struggles with her feelings for the demon and animal vet, Damian. This is a great grumpy/sunshine and friends with benefits romance mixed with all the paranormal elements. April Asher really does an amazing job with her characters and making them work for their ending. Rose and Damian were such a complicated couple and it was entertaining watching them fight their feelings.
I really enjoyed this one! I haven't actually read Not the Witch You Wed so I did feel like I missed a bit, but as a whole, this read well as a standalone. The characters were all tons of fun, and the main romance was HOT. Seriously, this did grumpy, domineering, hot men in the best way. Damian was an awesome MMC, and I loved that we had dual POV. Helped him seem less asshole and more tortured hottie. I've grown to love witchy romances because they always read like pure fun, and this one was no different. I loved reading it, and I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for the rest of the series!
Thanks to Netgalley for providing a free copy in exchange for an honest review!

Super cute follow up to last year's 'Not the Witch You Wed'. While Rose wasn't my favorite romance protagonist, I love the world Asher has created. The grumpy-sunshine nature of the relationship is charming and I love the commonplace use of magic and mayhem. Sure, the hex itself is a little silly (specifically the ending of it, don't think about it too much or you'll start to question the plot). Rose's quest to find herself and figure out what to do with her life after giving up her role as heir-apparent in the last book took some turns I hadn't expected. It was cool to see the changes in who she is versus who she's had to pretend to be in the past. As always, the side characters in this are a delight and I'm v stoked to see what the next set-up will be.
Four and a Half Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭒
Not Your Ex's Hexes by April Asher is the second book in her popular Supernatural Singles series. But, can be read as a stand-alone. I enjoyed the first book in the series and like this one even more.
Story Recap:
For her entire life, Rose Maxwell was groomed to be the Prima on the Supernatural Council. But, when her sister, Violet discovers that she has magic, Rose steps down to let Violet take her rightful position. Now, Rose must figure out what to do with her life.
When Rose and her sisters try to rescue some horses from an Animal Sanctuary, they are caught and Rose is sentenced to do community service at the sanctuary. She believed the horses were not being cared for properly, when in fact they had been rescued from a farm where they had been treated abominably. The only problem is the owner of the sanctuary is Damian Adams, a half-Demon Veterinarian, someone Rose had a one-night stand with, and she’d prefer to never see again.
My Thoughts:
I enjoyed the first book in the series, Not the Witch You Wed, very much and I enjoyed Not Your Ex’s Hexs even more. I wondered about Rose and what she would do after reading the first book in the series, so I was excited to read her story in this book.
The highlight of this book is the Animal Sanctuary that Damien runs. Anyone who cares for abused animals is a hero in my book. Damien has issues of his own, and he’s a wonderful character. I just love that soft spot he has for animals.
It was also fun to visit the triplets, Rose, Violet, and Olivia again and the magical world they live in.
Not Your Ex’s Hexes was a delightful romp into a magical world with a bit of steam and romance.
Recommendation:
I highly recommend Not My Ex’s Hexes to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Rose has been training her entire life to become the next Prima on the Supernatural Council. But now that she stepped down, letting one of her triplet sisters take her place, she wants to focus on herself. When she is sentenced for community service at the animal sanctuary, she finds herself face to face with Damian, with whom she had a one night stand.
This is book 2 int the Supernatural Singles series, and I strongly recommend you read book 1 before it (not only because I liked it better - which is the case - but because there is a lot of references to what happened before without much explanation, so get yourself situated before you go into book 2). This one was a friends with benefits, grumpy sunshine romance. Did I like this? Yes. Did I love it? No. I was not in a very witchy-read mood. Rose was a bit immature, the dialogue/banter felt forced and overdone, but I loved the family bond and the animal shelter/interactions.

Not Your Ex’s Hexes
Supernatural Singles #2
April Asher
Asher’s, Not Your Ex’s Hexes, second in her Supernatural Singles series is a HOOT, a unique supernatural rom-com that features a sexy, stiletto wearing witch and a half demon vet that gets along with his animals better than his peers and contains all types of supernatural characters that will satisfy all fans of the genre. This talented author gifts readers with a strong storyline, a narrative that’s a bit naughty and a bit nice and will have readers totally engrossed from page one until the end. Her stars Rose and Damien are absolutely delightful, Rose, the loveable witch without a cause is an open book, good-hearted and true and readers will have no problem knowing what she’s thinking at any and all times while Damien the broody, grumpy, demon vet is a conundrum and readers will need the jaws of life to open him up. The other characters most introduced in book one continue to be an important part of the story and each and every one important in the telling of the tale. The novel is sweet with a bit of heat there’s a hint of where the third triplet’s story is going and even though there’s some backstory this series would be better read in order.
Once Rose Maxwell had her future planned, she spent her whole life training to be the next Prima witch, that all changed when a new Prima was discovered, a new Prima who just happened to be one of her two womb mates, her once thought non-magical sister Violet. Trying desperately to find a new direction and not knowing what she’s really good at Rose finds herself floundering at one dead end job after another. Then after one fateful night and a botched attempt to save two abused horses she finds herself arrested by the supernatural council and sentenced to community service at an animal rescue run by a grumpy half human, half demon vet. The very de-man she had her one and only unforgettable six-month ago one-night-stand with. What’s a witch to do?
Damian Adams once known as the scourge in supernatural bounty hunter circles left that life far behind in part due to being hexed by his ex, so that if he ever fell in love it would cost him his soul. But that was years ago in his wayward youth when he was still trying to gain the approval of his demon father. Now he lives a quiet life as a vet and just wants to run his animal rescue and doesn’t want the complication that Rose Maxwell will surely cause. After all she’s starred in his (se)x-rated dreams ever since their ill-fated night. He’s debating whether to ship her off or strip her naked and if his demon had his way that would be option 2, thank you very much!
April Asher has done it again! I loved Violet & Lincoln’s road to romance in Not the With You Wed, and now she’s back with Rose and Damina’s story.
It was everything you could want and more when it comes to having a witch and a demon as the main character.! This is such a fun and entertaining enemies to lovers page turner. What could possibly go wrong when Rose and Damian agree to be strictly friends with benefits?!
I love the Maxwell family! Please adopt me! I especially love grandma, but not so much the mom. If you enjoyed Vi’s story then don’t miss Rose's story! I can't wait for book 3!
This was a really fun installment in the Maxwell triplets story that Introduces new characters and species. With Rose trying to figure out new future we’re shown new aspects of this supernatural world that includes bars, parties, and pet sanctuaries. It adds more layers to the world so I do think the first book should be read as it gives more of a back story to many plot lines that are happening in the story especially for violet maxwell.
A solid 3.5 stars and a smutty good time! There was lots to love about this book: grumpy sunshine, animal sanctuary rescues, all the witchy pop culture references. I can’t wait for book 3!
Book 2 of the Supernatural Singles series.
Witch Rose Maxwell is sentenced to community service. Demon Damien Adams is the vet who runs the sanctuary where Rose will be conducting this community service. Awkward due to their hookup the year and the sparks that seem to still be between them.
Damien and Rose have as much chemistry as Vivian and Lincoln. Love the banter, love the spice, love the HEA. I also love the world with Supernatural and Normal people just causally coexisting.
April Asher is officially an automatic read for me.
this book was just as much fun as Not the Witch You Wed. It was a very lighthearted and fun read that had me giggling at some points.
I really enjoyed both Rose and Damien’s characters. I loved seeing how Rose was trying new things to help her find something she clicks with. I also loved how grumpy damien was with everyone until she slowly started to bring out his sweet side.
I loved seeing the triage back and seeing violet and olive trying to work through their new issues. Also I can’t wait for the next book. The set up for it left me so excited.
Loved this book. Love this series.
Thanks Netgalley for an ARC.
