I think that this series is getting even better. I remember liking book 1, but the romance in this second installment is so much fun. Rose is trying to find her place after some big changes from the first book. A one night stand, a rescue gone wrong and a super grumpy hero come together for a story filled with fun and great side characters. This is a world I want to stay in.

I received my copy of this book as an ARC from Netgalley.

This book was easily a five star read for me. It was everything I hoped for when I heard “grumpy/sunshine supernatural romance”. The story was engaging, the characters were funny and the romance was excellent.
It is the second book in the series, however I have not read the first one. I would say this book can be easily read and understood as a stand-alone novel but I do think the first story would add more understanding to the world and side characters of this novel.

I wasn't sure how April Asher was going to top Not the Witch You Wed, but she did it! I totally fell in love with Damian the half-Demon who runs an animal sanctuary, like could a guy get any sexier?

Ever since Rose stepped down from being the next Prima she has struggled to find out who she is, and what she wants to do. When she sees what she assumes is a couple of severely neglected horses she grabs her sisters and friend Harper and mounts a rescue mission. However, it turns out they had already been rescued.. oops? and now she must serve community service at the same place she has just broken into... and it turns out it's run by the same sexy half-demon she had a one-night stand with.... that won't be awkward at all.

But it turns out great... Rose has a real gift with animals and surprises Damian at every turn. He really can't help falling in love with her... Only due to something that happened when he was young, he can't fall in love. Ever.

They have great banter and amazing chemistry, they make a perfect pair, and as much as I love Violet and Lincoln I think Rose and Damien are my new favorite couple. I can't wait to see what's in store for the next Maxwell sister.

Just when I thought April Asher knocked it out of the park with Not the Witch You Wed, and then she hit us with this banger.

I can't even begin to explain how much I loved and ate up this book. Rose is such a badass witch with the perfect amount of sass and attitude. Then there's Damian, who gives off the perfect amount of brooding grumpy we all need with all the sex appeal to match. The connection between Rose and Damian just oozes off the pages.

This is a 10/10 all the way around. April has this way of writing characters that you just find yourself falling in love with, the side characters. I loved Rose's character from the first book, and I left this being even more in love with her character and the arc that she gave her. Thank you, April, for making characters that I just fall in love with and find myself connecting to on a personal level.

Witchy reads aren't just for October anymore!

Rose was supposed to be the. next prima to the supernatural council, but when her eldest sister finally got her magic, Rose stepped down. Now she has to find a new path. When she has a one night stand with a half demon Damian Adams, they both think its a one and done thing. But when Damian ends up being the Vet of the animal sanctuary Rose tries to break horses out of, she is sentenced to community service at his sanctuary. Neither of them is looking for a relationship. But the attraction between them is explosive so they decide to start a Friends-with-benefits arrangement to satisfy the itch so to speak. Things take a turn when Rose is adamant to become a supernatural bounty hunter for Damian's brother, he see's the red flags and will only let her do this with his training. However, this puts Damian back on the periphery of a world he thought he left behind. He doesn’t approve of Rose becoming a Hunter, but if there's one thing he's learned about the stubborn witch, it was telling her not to do something was one sure-fire way to make sure she did. Working—and sleeping—together awakens feelings Damian never knew he had...and shouldn't have. Because thanks to his ex's hex, if he falls in love, he'll not only lose his heart—but his humanity.

Oooooh boy did I enjoy this one! A sexy demon vet and a reject prima witch forced to work together. Slightly enemies to lovers, more grumpy/sunshine, with a whole lot of Friends with Benefits sprinkled in. Count me in! I loved the banter between Rose and Damian. I loved the sisters and their found family. This book gave me everything I needed. This book can be read as a standalone or apart of a series, but I definitely suggest reading Not the Witch You Wed first!

Thanks to the publisher for the ARC in return for an honest review. This book releases 2/7

Thank you for the publishers and Netgalley for a chance to read and review this arc in exchange for an honest review!

This was such a cute story with the perfect witchy vibes for spooky season. One night stand, forced proximity, the trope of one night stand trying to resist the admission that they feel more for each other. I loved the aspect of Rose and her friend group, the animal sanctuary, and the fact that Rose gave up her role as the Prima Apparent in order to find her own way in life.

Some of the tropes and banter felt a little too much or cliche, but overall I really liked this story and the characters. The grumpy x sunshine gets me every time, and this was no different. I can't wait to read more by April Asher!

I absolutely loved this book! Rose? Hot AF. Damian? Hot AF. The banter? Witty and funny. And hot AF. I also love this series because of the fat FMC rep!

This was an enjoyable second entry in the Supernatural Singles series, picking up where the first book left off with the older sister being the heroine this time. It took me a bit to get into this book, partially because it has one of my least favorite starts to a romance - a one night stand, and we don't even get to see it happen. It fades to black, and then boom, we're in the future. I didn't get that initial spark from the couple, so when they met again, the connection wasn't there for me. So it wasn't the most auspicious of beginnings. However, once I got past the first half, it really picked up steam. Literally. I began to sit forward in my chair, eager to see how the story would play out, and as the reader learned more about the hero's hex on him, the more everything started to make sense.

Rose Maxwell spent her life preparing for a future that was never truly her own. When it was yanked out from under her with her sister's powers emerging, she was at a loss for what to do with her life. Feeling lost, she just wanted to feel without thinking, and that's when she turned to a handsome stranger at a party for an evening of no strings attached fun. But when she meets him again after trying to "rescue" two abused horses from his sanctuary, fun is the last thing on her mind. She's sentenced to community service for her crime, working for the man, who happens to be a half-demon veterinarian. Damien Adams swore off witches, and love, a long time ago after his ex-girlfriend put a hex on him in high school. He never sleeps with the same girl twice...but Rose tempts him like no other. Soon they aren't able to keep their hands off each other, and when Rose gets a new job as a supernatural bounty hunter, Damien's protective instincts kick into overdrive. What started as a no strings attached affair soon becomes a dangerous game, one that might end up with Damien in trouble.

This couple really grew on me. Damien was so complex and mysterious, and it took a while for me to get a good read on him as a character. At first you think he's a player, but then as time passes, you realize how many layers there are to his actions and feelings. Rose was a little easier to understand, since she lost everything, including knowing who she was. Her personality shifted so much from the first book, I had to get to know her all over again. Her struggle to find her calling and believe in herself was so relatable, and her relationship with Damien turned into so much more than she was expecting. He wanted to protect her and stay away from her all at the same time. His hex was a curse that bound to his soul, and the poor thing had no idea how to break it. When Rose found out about it...and who put the hex on him...I was cheering so much for her. I thought she would brush it off and not be upset at the person who did it, but she stood up for her man. I loved that so much.

Looking forward to the next book! We already got a glimpse of the main trope, which is friends to lovers, and I am already here for it. That couple has me enthralled, and all we got were a few teaser scenes with them together. Get ready, folks, it's going to be good.

Thank you st martins press and netgalley for allowing me to read this book. I love the banter between all the characters! I also love the sexual tension between Damian and rose! I think the author did so good with the grumpy-sunshine trope in this book! It’s amazing how the author gets you attached to not only all the characters but also the animals. Rose makes me laugh so much and I loved her even more when she would make light of intense situations. This book made me feel so many different emotions and I loved that! I got so attached to everyone! This book was beautifully written and I really hope I get to read about olive and bax for her next book

I've always said "I'm not a fantasy reader," but Not Your Ex's Hexes made me realize I just might be. I fell in love with Damian right alongside Rose. I did not realize that this was a second book in a series, and though Violet and Lincoln's love story is referenced, it certainly is not a required read to enjoy Rose and Damian's love story. This book also has me hoping that there's a third in the series that focuses on Olive!

Trope Round Up:
Forced Proximity
Slow Burnish
Grumpy/Sunshine

This is the second in the Supernatural Singles series and I had so much fun reading it. These books could be read as stand alone, but to get Rose's background and some of the snark she says i recommend reading the first in the series "Not the Witch you Wed".

Rose is a fun MC, she is in her early 20's and really just trying to figure out what she wants to do in life after what she has trained for her whole life is not longer an option. She drives Rideshare, she bartends, and a little bit of everything else. When her and her triple sisters get in trouble for trying to "rescue" a horse which happens to actually be at a Sanctuary is where she re-meets Damian her one and only one night stand.

The Tension between Rose and Damian is palatable and grows as they work together.

If you are looking for a fun urban fantasy read that will make you laugh out loud and draw you into this supernatural world, highly recommend!

Thank you NetGalley for sending me an arc of this book to review. Now this book is the second in the series and while I liked the first one just a tiny bit more I still really really enjoyed this book. It was wonderful to see Roses growth from the first book and Damien and his animal family were right up my alley. Though I will say there was a certain male in this book that had to grow on me. I can’t wait to see the next book in this series and I’m hoping Harper gets one as well because I ship her and the vampire from the bar.

Such a great follow up to Not the Witch You Wed! This time we get Rose’s story all about life after being the Prima Apparent and stepping down and what that means for her professionally…and romantically. Enter sexy, tattooed, half-demon, veterinarian Dr Damian Adams. He’s grouchy and sullen and a little rough around the edges and REALLY good in bed. When Rose ends up working for him due to a misunderstanding they strike up the perfect deal: friends with benefits, ending whenever one of them says so. Rose isn’t looking for a relationship, and Damian can’t due to his ex’s hex on his heart and soul. What could possibly go wrong bonding over sanctuary animals, multiple orgasms, and hunting demons for a hefty paycheck?
I love the use of witchy language in these, it makes them really fun. “Not today, bwitch!” “Oh, hex me!” Not a huge fan of the phrase “lady bits”…that’s really my only complaint lol. It stops after a few and then the spicy scenes are extra spicy and the banter is such a great time. Can’t wait for the 3rd which should be Olly’s story…and then maybe a 4th for Harper?!

Thoroughly enjoyed Rose and Damian's story, it had grumpy/sunshine vibes, action sequences and lively banter. After a one night stand several months ago, Rose and Damian find themselves in each other's orbit again and sparks once again fly. Though they both swear that they will stay away from each other, they find that to be impossible.
With demon hunting shenanigans, rescuing animals and navigating family issues, Roe and Damian find themselves getting closer and falling for each other.
I enjoyed their journey and their friends and family's schemes to get them together, it was highly entertaining.

Rose, the former Prima has a one-night stand with Damian, a grumpy half-demon, & neither of them thinks that they’ll cross paths again. Fast forward to a rescue attempt gone wrong, these two are thrown together due to Rose’s mandatory community service.

This was a cute read filled with supernatural creatures and a lot of steam between the main characters. Rose & Damian's relationship started off as a one-night stand that made their banter more of "lust" than "love" for pretty much the entire book.

Most of the chapters felt boring to me & I lost interest a lot. But I really liked the plot of Damian's past hex & how he overcame it.
Overall, it was an okay-ish read for me.

First, I want to say you really should read Not the Witch You Wed before you read this one. I had not started with the first in the series, that being said, this nevertheless was a fun witchy romp.

Trope-y but fun thanks not only to the paranormal additions = Rose is a witch and Damien is half Demon- but also to the bright writing and good sense of humor. Rose and Damien find themselves falling for one another after she's sent to do community service at the animal shelter where he's the vet but the path to true love isn't easy when there are demons witches and others around. This is the second in a series of sorts but it's perfectly enjoyable as a standalone. Thanks to Netgalley for the ArC. A hoot in spots.

I love witchy rom-coms. They make my heart happy. This installment in this series was no exception.

I found myself drawn in with book one and these Maxwell sisters antics. With book one ending with Rose no longer being the Prima Apparent, this one starts off with Rose trying to find her way - and in true Maxwell sister fashion, she finds herself in all kinds of trouble. Mainly - a certain sexy veterinarian she’s stuck doing community service for.

In true rom-com fashion this book is crazy predictable. You know where it’s going immediately but the road to get there is hilarious and worth the ride. I definitely enjoyed it.

I want to thank NetGalley for the ebook!

**I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley and this is my honest review**

First, while I had seen the first book in Supernatural Singles in several places, I have not read it yet. So I went into this book pretty blindly but curious.

This book can stand-alone easily. I was able to figure out the world and character dynamics with the information the author gave early on and it didn't feel like I was being hit over the head with a recap of the last book.

I was surprised at how much I loved this book. Damian, the male MC is a grumpy, half-demon, half-human veterinarian with a tortured past. Need I say more?
The female MC, Rose, has got a ton of spunk, is pretty optimistic but not a total sunshiny person, and is trying to find herself after spending her entire life focused on training to be the next Prima.

The banter between these two is fantastic! Often the banter will die down after the couple starts spicing it up, but not in this book. We get witty, sexy, fun banter throughout and I loved it!! The tension between them is the icing on the cake. We get a slowburn and a great reward with some pretty frequent spice in the last half of the book. There's just the right amount of drama not only between the characters but also within their own backstories and lives. I got fully invested in this world and wanted the book to keep going so I could see more of Rose and Damian's life!

I think my only "eh" moment was the reveal at the end. I don't know if it was because it felt a little rushed or too simple of a fix after the buildup or what. But I was still there for the grandness of the gesture in all it's sorta cheesy glory. At that point the author had me so invested in this couple that I was just happy for them.

Overall a surprising 5 star read. I really enjoyed this book and will be checking out the first one in the series as soon as I can!

This book had a great premise but was really let down by the execution.

Rose (witch) and Damian (half demon) have a hot one night stand, and that’s it. But staying away from each other becomes much more complicated after an animal rescue goes wrong and Rose has to complete community service at Damian’s animal sanctuary.

The world building in this story is just so basic. It’s our world + magic, which has been done successfully many times. But the magical elements just feel so lazy, for example the non magical people are called ‘Norms’(?). The author missed so many opportunities to be fun and create a world that pulls you in. Yet they leaned into the use of such weird ‘magic-isms’ - ‘bwitch’, ‘shiftocracy’. None of which really made sense or were funny. Just because this is a romance doesn’t mean I don’t want a rich and exciting world.

In terms of the actual romance, I actually liked the two lead characters.. Damian was a great, hot and charming and just grumpy enough.. And Rose was really interesting. Someone who had the rug pulled out from her whole life, and is figuring out who she really is is a great character arc. But their problems were not wholly believable, they acted quite irrationally, and so much of the dialogue felt stilted. Again a great start, but just didn’t work for me in the end.

The book started to pick up the pace when we got into the demon hunting. And the back half grabbed my attention more. Overall, it was okay but I’ve read better versions of this type of story.
