I really enjoyed this book. It was so fun to watch them go from a “fake” relationship to falling in love with each other. I wanted to yell at her family for the way they treated her. I would recommend this book.

My review could possibly have spoilers. Let me start out by saying I didn't read the first book in this series, and I don't think it needs to be read. It was a good standalone.

🌶️🌶️🌶️
This is my first April Asher novel and I thought it was cute. Rose(a witch) is trying to find where she belongs. The former prima apparent now has time on her hands to do just that. She also has time to find her self in hot water with the council. Which leads her to do service hours at a Sanctuary owned by Damian Adams, who is half demon half human.

While working together they form an agreement to be each other's FB. No strings attached no anything. But we all know how that goes.....

I enjoyed the banter between the two MCs and the side characters. Asher does a good job with details.
What I didn't like was all the eyebrow(s) raising. It felt like it was done on every other page. The beginning was a little bit slow for me as well.

Thank you to #netgalley and #stmartinspress for this ARC for my honest review.

I was so excited to read Roses story after the first book. Rose had been training all her life for a role she didn't necessarily want nor did she get to fulfill. Girl needed a break...so what better way to let loose than a one night stand. Enter Damien - reformed bad boy/demon hunter turned vet / manages an animal sanctuary. She is sentenced to community service after an incident where she tries to rescue some horses....that didn't need to be rescued. Enter forced proximity/workplace romance. I very much enjoyed their story and I can't wait for the rest of the series.

Another winner from April Asher I absolutely loved NOT THE WITCH YOU WED and I loved this one too. I'm so excited to continue in this universe with these sisters. So fun, romantic and magical.

I love this story!

Received and ARC from NetGalley

This is Rose and Damian story! Rose is trying to find herself after she is no longer the prima and Damian is running away from his past!
After a little misunderstanding Rose ends up having to do community service in Damian’s animal sanctuary. From there, after a lot of banter their “benefits only” relationship evolves!

I love how strong Rose is, she is committed to find her passion and she does by trying different tips of jobs!

I definitely recommend it if you love the one nights stand trope with a curvy and courageous FMC!

Something about April Asher's writing keeps me hooked enough to see how the story will play out; however, the banter was a bit much for me at times and unfortunately the tropes become too over-the-top as the book goes on.

Loved this humorous, well written novel. Rose and her sisters, along with a grumpy demon veternarian, guardian angel and shifter personalities interact loudly and frequently. Laugh out loud scenes, old hexes, and new partnerships. Can't wait for the next in the series!!!!

352 pages, paperback. Publication expected 2/7/2023. St. Martin's Griffin.

What a fun, sexy romance! Quick review: I loved the characters, the sisterly bond, the magic system/world, and the overall premise of the love story. I now want to go back and read the first one - and I cannot wait for the third one.

"Not Your Ex's Hexes" is one of April Asher's Supernatural Singles books. Here, things begin spicy, with a one night stand between a witch and a half-demon. Our witchy main character, Rose, has set off on an adventure to learn who she is, after stepping down from becoming the next Prima (head witch on a supernatural council). The issue is, she has no idea who she wants to be. In an crazy moment, she has a one night stand. Months later, she runs into him again - and winds up getting forced to do community service hours at his animal sanctuary. They attempt to ignore each other, fail, and become friends with benefits. The only issue is, Damian begins to feel for her, but because of a hex, he risks losing his heart and his humanity if he falls in love.

Rose and Damian are fun together - one grumpy and broody, the other fun and preppy. Damian is a vet, and he cares for sick and injured animals that need rescuing. I absolutely adored the animal sanctuary, and all the animals in it. Rose is trying to find her own path - and takes some risks in this book to do so. Between all of these things, Rose has her two sisters (triplets), and all they get up to as well. I did really love the sisters relationships, how they fought for each other, and how they teased and picked on one another.

The plot moves well, and I never really felt annoyed or like the pace wasn't quick enough. There is more than just the romance at play here, and that helped add dimension. There are plenty of spicy scenes as well, but not too many (meaning it still has a story to be told, not just a book full of spice).

As with any series like this - it's easy to read without having read the other, but you know there are things you are missing out on that it is referring to. I never felt lost though, just more intrigued to go back and read the first one. It also sets up the next relationship for book #3 (and does a great job - I cannot wait for it!).

As to the world building, I did really like it the magic and system in place here. I understood it well enough, without having the read the first. I am interested in some of the backstory. But how the author worked the supernatural council in, the different types of shifters and magic, succubi, demons, etc., was so much fun with the real world. It was also fun to see magic used in a more modern setting, and the way it can be applied.

Overall, 4 star read, and looking forward to the rest!

What a cute story! The book is far sexier than the cover implies.

Rose is a witch who has just stepped down from being next in line to be Prima (head witch) not to mention just got out of a REALLY bad relationship. She’s not looking for anything permanent in her life, just some sexy fun.

Enter veterinarian Damian, a demon with a hex from his witchy ex who, like Rose, has no intention of starting anything serious.

What starts as friends with benefits soon turns into more. But can Rose and Damian defeat Damian’s hex?

Very cute book. Filled with all kinds of witchy puns and catch phrases (“Hex me!” and referring to your girls as “Bwitches” among other things.) I’ve already checked the audiobook of book 1 from the library to read Rose’s sister Violet’s story.

A witch looking for her purpose and a demon veterinarian find themselves tangling up the sheets and making things difficult for each other. He was hexed by his teenage girlfriend and if he falls in love, he loses his human side and his ability to love. He cannot resist her at all nor can she, him. Spicy and fun novel.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks NetGalley and publisher for arc!
I was most excited to get this arc bc I adored the first book of series!! Another great book of the maxwell sisters, I hope we see Olive and Bazs story next and after that Harpers, then Julius’! Love this series and can’t wait for rest of it. One con was the breakup was so dumb bc for once it made sense and she was being completely unreasonable lol the hex made him do it and she acted like hex didn’t cause it smh. But I can’t wait for rest of books and love stories to come

This was a cute book, although it did not grab be like the first one, I am not fond of the miscommunication trope, to be honest, and this is what it seemed to me, I saw what the hex was about from the very beginning, but they were cute together, and I enjoyed it although it wasn’t that I had to know what happened but that well, I invested all this time, might as well finish it.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

This book was adorable. I enjoyed it more than the first in the series. I definitely recommend reading the first in the series before this one as it sets up a lot of Rose's and the rest of the Maxwell family background. As someone who has spent many years in vet med, I totally loved Damien's character. And Rose's botched "horse rescue" attempt was hilarious. The story was definitely fluffy with a little bit of spice and was a really quick read.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC!

This is a fun filled story. Rose is one in a triplet of spirited witches. Damian is a half demon half norm. It is a wild and exciting ride as this paranormal story unfolds. The characters are colorful and will entertain you with their antics. From wild fights, to girls nights every page is a feast for the senses. Rose and Damian decide on a steamy relationship that burns up the sheets. It is a truly delightful story as the couple comes into their own and finds away to be happy with each other.

Rose isn't Prima Apparent and she's trying to figure herself out. After an attempted horse-napping, she ends up sentences to community service at the animal Sanctuary she tries to nap the horses from.
Alongside the hottest, grumpiest, hottest half demon vet ever. And she already knows the kinda of pleasure he can give 😉😉.
But he's hexed to lose his soul should he ever fall in love! It's such a shame they're so smitten and attracted to each other, right!
Instead of being smart, they become friends with benefits!
Theres so much happening here that it's never truly boring. And the spice is somewhat on page this time. Between Rose and Damian's relationship, Rose figuring herself out and Damian figuring himself out, there's hardly a dull moment.
Julius Kontos makes more appearances but there's a sad lack of Edie.
In the end, everything falls into place. Not before you have a minor heart attack over Damian's well being.
I ate this book up.

This series is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. While I thoroughly enjoyed the first book, this book seriously has my heart! I love that with each book we’re learning more and more about the inner workings of the Maxwell family. This series does a really awesome job of world building, as it establishes this whole unique supernatural society existing in New York City as we know it-I’ve always found that so interesting!

At the heart of this book is the burgeoning love story of Rose, who we’ve met before, and Damian who we have not. This book provides us with so much more depth to Rose, and I honestly couldn’t help but love her. Just a badass witch trying to find her place. Damian is
perfect-just out here making everyone’s grumpy half-demon veterinarian wet dreams come true 😂. No but seriously-I’m OBSESSED with these two! The BANTER, the tension-ugh, so good!

I for sure loved this book more than the first and I’m excited to see what the rest of the series brings because it seems to just keep getting better and better!

I was given an ARC by NetGalley and St. Martin’s-Griffin. All opinions are my own.

Super cute easy Halloween read! I’m not usually one for one night stands that lead to lovers but it worked in this story. Add in the fact that this book promotes animal reaches- loved it!

LOVED IT!

Not Your Ex's Hexes is the second book in the Supernaturals Singles series by April Asher and follows 3 triplet sister witches in their magical mishaps and in finding love.

Book 1, Not The Witch You Wed, follows the oldest triplet, Violet or Vi for short. Book 2 starts 6 months after Book 1 and follows the middle triplet, Rose.

Not Your Ex's Hexes involves a one-night-stand between a willful witch and a broody half-demon which conjures an adventure that wouldn’t be complete without several magical mishaps.

I loved Book 1 in this series, but I think I might love Book 2 even more. Sometimes sequels fall a bit short, but not in this case. I loved the banter between all the characters. It's a fast paced, feel good book with lots of spice. The kind of book you can't help but smile when you read. It's a "no strings attached" and "grumpy/sunshine" story that will leave you wanting more. I cannot wait for next one!

I love the writing style of April Asher. The flow of her stories are smooth and quick paced. Also love the duel POV chapters. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more books by April. She is now on my auto buy list!

Not Your Ex's Hexes is set to be published on February 7, 2023.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press, St. Martin's Griffin, NetGalley and April Asher for the Advanced eCopy in exchange for my honest review.

Rose spent her whole life training to be the next leader of the Supernatural Council, but ever since her sister (who was fated to take the role) finally came into her power and Rose stepped down, she's been struggling to find purpose in her life. When she and her sisters try to rescue a pair of horses they (erroneously) think are being neglected, she might just find her purpose--in the mandated community service hours she has to put in at the animal sanctuary she tried to steal the horses from. Which is run by Damian, the gorgeous half-demon she slept with a while back.
Damian wants to keep Rose as far away as possible. She's gorgeous, driven, compassionate... definitely the kind of woman he could fall for. The only problem? His high school girlfriend hexed him--and if he falls in love with Rose, he might lose his soul forever.

I hadn't read the first book in the series (and definitely didn't feel like I was missing important information--I love how books in romance novels tend to stand on their own pretty well) but I'll definitely be going back and reading it now! Not Your Ex's Hexes was a super fun read, and I definitely want to read every book in the series. There's definitely some tension and past trauma (Damian and his father have a rough past) but the book didn't go deep enough into it to feel like that was making the book super heavy; it struck the perfect balance of light and substantive and I can't wait to read more in this series.
