I waited to long to review this and now I honestly don’t remember a single thing about this book. Like I can’t recall a single thing about it. I remember liking it when I read it, but I liked the first one more, it was just forgettable I guess
A captivating and magical adventure! This story shows that you can pursue your dreams, even if they diverge from lifelong training for something else. The dynamic between Damian and Rose is intense, drawing readers in for more of their interactions with every page.
Both characters are headstrong and determined, coming together to navigate not only tangible demons but also emotional ones. I loved the family dynamics throughout the book as well, making this a book I didn't want to end.
A witch and a demon? Yes, please. I love a good supernatural romcom and this was perfect- very enjoyable with great characters and all the magic I could want.
This was a really cute and witchy read! I thought I was great for the fall and Halloween season. I do however wish I’d read the other books in the series before this one, just to know the characters better.
Asher did a great job at writing sweet romance along with all of the spooky season vibes and I’d definitely give another one of her books a shot because of how fun this one was.
April Asher may have become a new go-to author, after finishing Not Your Ex's Hexes.
I absolutely devoured this book and loved seeing the plus size rep in romance. Especially when the plus size witch finds love with a half-demon veterinarian who tries to stay away from her as much as he can. Throw in a curse and demon hunting and you have the recipe for a perfect paranormal romance that adds in a cauldron full of humor.
I loved watching Rose try to find her place in life, now that everything she trained for wasn't necessary. Now she was learning to put herself first and figure out what she wanted to do with her life, while getting over a horrible ex. At the same time she has a one-night stand with a hot half-demon, Damian, and neither seems to be able to escape the attraction they feel for each other. And after Rose inadvertently tries stealing horses from Damian's animal sanctuary she has to fulfill community service at the sanctuary. Of course that leads to neither being able to deny the attraction between them and leads to them starting a friends-with-benefits arrangement.
This book was absolutely a joy to read. It was funny romantic, and at times suspenseful. You found yourself rooting for both Rose and Damian, and wanted them to find a way to be together, while also enjoying the chaos around them and their banter. Overall this was a fun read, and has me hooked on the series as a whole.
Book 2 was just as enjoyable as the first! Loved the witchy vibes and this witchy town! I cannot wait to revisit this series!
Thank you #StMartinsPress and #NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review
I looked Book #1 of the Supernatural Singles so I was SO excited to get approved for the ARC for #2! I am a sucker for a good paranormal romance and this did not let me down. Damian was my favorite part. Rose is so sweet but wished she got from under the shadow of her sisters! It was a lighthearted read and perfect for an October cozy read. I can't wait to read book #3!
This book in 3 words: Hilarious. Nostalgic. Entertaining.
This book was FUNNY. Like, multiple times I was actually laughing out loud. I loved the quips and banter between Rose and Damian. They had such good chemistry and solid back stories to complement each other.
Also, the start of this book? CHEFS KISS! So unique and interesting… and hottie hot hot hot.
Listen, I’m a sucker for anything that references Buffy more than once. This book had all the feels to pull at your nostalgic strings.
Definitely an enjoyable witchy romance.
This was so great! I loved the idea of a supernatural rom com and this was executed perfectly! The chemistry between Damian and Rose was instant and undeniable! I had so much fun reading their story. I also really like reading about all the supernatural creatures!
yes. just, yes.
this was perfectly magical and witchy, and a fantastic instalment to the series!
i love how silly some of the dialogue is. there’s so much backhanded humour in this i was giggling to myself! that being said, i did feel like some kind of spark was missing. it was so cute, but i guess i didn’t feel like the characters grabbed me as much as i hoped!
i’d still highly recommend it to people who love witchy romances, good banter & fluff.
Thank you Del Rey and NetGalley for the eARC of Nocturne! All opinions in this review are my own.
Another great book by April Asher! Adorable and well written. A dose of witchy happiness!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me free access to the advanced digital copy of this book, as this book has already been published, I will not share my review on Netgalley at this time.

Not Your Ex's Hexes (Supernatural Singles Book 2)
Rose and Damien
This was my favorite romcom! It was that good, and funny, with loads of snark.
I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley and I am leaving a review.
Another great story in this series! I love the world that April Asher has created. The push and pull between Damian and Rose was great. Watching him fight falling in love with her hurt my heart. I loved the way Rose changed throughout the story. So good!
This is apparently book 2 in a series, but can work as a standalone despite not knowing some characters back stories. Rose is trying to figure out what to do with her life after stepping down as the future Prima of the council. This leads to an ill-fated rescue attempt of some horses and then being forced to volunteer at Damien's animal sanctuary.
Not Your Ex's Hexes was a fun read featuring a romance between a witch and a half-demon.
Rose Maxwell spent her entire life training to become the next Prima on the Supernatural Council and now that she's stepped down, she doesn't know what to do with her life. To make matters worse she's sentenced to community service at the animal sanctuary owned by Damian Adams, the half-demon she had a one-night stand with and has been avoiding ever since. When Rose ends up tagging along with Damian on a hunt for two demons, Rose thinks she's finally found her true calling. But spending so much time with Rose is putting Damian's heart and soul at risk thanks to his ex's hex that states if he falls in love, he'll lose his humanity.
Rose's character intrigued me in Not the Witch You Wed and I was curious where she would end up after Violet took over as Prima. I liked that when this book starts, she still hasn't figured out what she wants to do with her life and goes through several jobs that aren't the right fit. Damian was an interesting character as we don't know much about him when the book starts and I was intrigued to learn more with the bits we did get. I liked how passionate he was about the animal sanctuary and that he was willing to do whatever it took to help the animals under his care.
The romance was where this book fell a part a little for me as I didn't love Rose and Damian together. My biggest issue was that I ultimately didn't like the way Damian treated Rose for a lot of the book. He's very dismissive of her ideas and has a tendency to try and tell her what she's allowed to do. Thankfully Rose pretty much ignores him when he tries to control her but that didn't make him doing it any less annoying. They do end up working that out before the end of the book and I was ultimately happy with the direction their romance went.
Overall Not Your Ex's Hexes was an enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to reading Olive's book soon.
I found April Asher’s writing to charming in Not the Witch You Wed, so I was excited to fully lean into the Halloween Spirit and read Not Your Ex’s Hexes. It was so fun to revisit this world and follow Rose’s newly found freedom alongside Damian’s struggle to forge his own pathway and run from his father’s lifestyle. For a book that hinges on a “friends-with-benefits” arrangement, I didn’t find it to be overly spicy on page, but I did enjoy watching their “no emotions” agreement crumble as they opened up to each other more.
Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the advanced reader copy.
An excellent sequel to the Supernatural Singles series! I think I liked this one more than the first book. This story focuses on Rose and Damian's story in which they have a one night stand but seem to keep running into each other afterwards, which ultimately turns into a friends with benefits situation. We all know how those turn out. I loved seeing Rose grow into her powers as well as how her relationship with Damian eventually turns into something more.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this book! I am loving the trend of witchy romances. I saved this one for the fall and loved it!
We did not enjoy this book and it was a struggle to get to the finish line. We just were not invested in either of the characters or the storyline. The enemies part didn't make sense, and nothing really came together for us.
