Not Your Ex 's Hexes by April Asher is a fun light hearted romance. I was glad to learn that this is part of a series and I'm looking forward to reading more.
Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced digital copy.
I very much enjoyed this light-hearted but somewhat substantial romance that was a good read. It kept me engaged and interested to see what was going to happen next. It wasn't too much but also not too heavy. Kind of that perfect spot of being able to engage your mind and enjoy what you're reading, but also not something that you have to study to retain everything.
I would definitely recommend this book to my friends and would look for the author's next books.

"People who interrupt someone obviously engrossed in their book has true evil in their heart. I'm just saying.
Honestly, I absolutely loved this book. Never in a million years by me looking at the front of this book would I have expected it to give the twists and turns and the amazing outcome that it did and April Asher, I applaud you for that.
I received a free ARC from NetGalley, and this is my honest review
Not Your Ex's Hexes is the second book in April Asher's Supernatural Singles series, and when I tell you that it is good....
You better believe it.
Within this book we follow the prior Prima Apparent, Rose Maxwell. After losing what she has trained her entire life for, Rose is a little lost and is truly looking for a purpose. After her horse rescue mission left her with 80 hours of community service with one hunk of a broody half-demon vet, will Rose finally be able to find her purpose in life or will her pride get in the way?
Damian Adams is a half-demon vet who has lived by the code of one-night stands only as to not get attached, but when one of his one-night stands become staff at his animal sanctuary for breaking in, will Damian stay in his ways or will he finally try something new?
This book is the absolute best paranormal romantic comedies that I have read in a hot minute. With the way that Asher blends in the aspect of the paranormal in with normal society is absolutely *chef kiss*
If you are looking for a book that will take you on a ride and actually have you one minute belly-aching laughing, then the next minute gasping and trying to read the page so quickly so you don't miss anything, then have you crying because let me tell you.
You will.
Over all a great addition to the series and I would honestly rank it higher then the first!!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the eARC of Not Your Ex's Hexes!
Not Your Ex's Hexes is absolutely hilarious and romantic! It was so exciting to read about Rose and the extremely hot and tantalizing Dr. Demon. Not only does April Asher make you laugh out loud with her hilarious puns and chapter titles, she makes you swoon for the bad boy with the good heart. Also- who doesn't love a strong and independent female main character? Rose is the epitome of a kindhearted badass- she's so incredibly relatable too! I am absolutely looking forward to continuing to read anything April Asher writes (Me, looking at April, begging for Olive and Harper to get their HEA!).
What a book!? I was lucky enough to be approved to read this ARC and I was excited to dive right in. I hadn’t read the first book in the series but after having read this book I went out and purchased the first, that is how much I loved this story.
Rose losses her prima witch position before this book begins but she doesn’t seem to upset about it. She is struggling to find her purpose and avoiding her mothers matching making plans. This leads her to a one night stand with a handsome half demon. He is a former bounty hunter turned veterinarian and apparently irresistible.
Right from the prologue you could sense their chemistry was fire 🔥. Damian runs an animal sanctuary but is dealing with a hex his ex put on him and has sworn off love. Rose has also sworn off love due to a narcissistic fiancé. They are thorn together due to a foolish decision by Rose that leads to community service hours at the sanctuary. Together they have to learn to get along and deal with their sizzling chemistry so they decide to become FB’s. But how to do that without letting the heart get involved?
I devoured this book in two days I could not put it down. Even though the main conflict is not one of my favourite tropes, the writing style, character development and story line more then made up for that. I will be going back and reading the first book in the series and I hope there are more books to come in the series!
The triplets, who are witches are interesting characters. This is a story about true mates, but you wouldn't know it. I really like how the story is not totally focused on the demon and the witch. We get what's going on with the sisters. What's going on in there daily lives. Some about the counsel. The story is a bit of all of the characters lives while we watch the couple develop and learn more about them. I would recommend this to any adult because it does have sexual content.
First and foremost, I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for allowing to me read this ARC
Well good Goddess… Rose is back!
When a horse rescue attempt goes wrong, poor Rose is forced to do community service at an animal rescue that’s owned by a sexy, sultry and very devilish demon.
I was not expecting how much smut was in this book but the scenes were perfection. If you love supernatural, sexy on the edge of your seat romance… this is the novel for you.
A big thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the 2nd in a series. It reads well as a stand alone, but I think it is better to read them in order. I actually liked the first book better, but this one is good as well. I loved that Damian is a veterinarian. This is funny, as they so don't want to like each other. Good chemistry. I can't wait for Olive's story. 4 stars.
In this second book in the Supernatural Singles series, we meet Ex future Prima Rose Maxwell. She is a triplet and they make a Charmed like sisterhood
Now that Rose is not going to be Prima she is struggling to find her footing. She has worked about 10 jobs, unable to find something best suited for someone who was groomed her whole life to help run the Supernatural world.
When an animal rescue goes wrong Rose is forced to do community service at an animal rescue. The rescue is owned by Damian. A sexy half demon who she just happened to have a one night stand with and cant get out of her mind.
Damian is a surface grump with a heart of gold. He remembers Rose as well, but has a "once only" rule to his one night stands. Pity for Damian Rose everything he wanted in a love, but thanks to the Hex of an ex-girlfriend, never dared to dream he could have.
Rose and Damian are wonderful together. I love the banter and the smokin hot sexy times. I really love Ashers world building and all the side characters! Usually they are just background for me but when there are vampires, a succubus and a wolfpack, oh my!
This is the second book in the series. I have also read the first one, but the story is enough you can read it on its own.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC
I just love love love this series and am really hoping that it won't be done once Olly finds her match. Typically I am not a fan of shifters and the like, but for some reason, this one hits different for me. A fun cozy read for anyone who likes a paranormal twist and is looking for a break in reading heavier stuff.
Thank you Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are mine and mine alone.

If you liked ‘Not the Witch You Wed’, then you’re all going to love ‘Not Your Ex’s Hexes’!!
Rose and Damian’s love story is adorable, I think they’re my favorites! This was such a funny, lighthearted and heartfelt story; all great ingredients that a good contemporary rom-com needs, you add a supernatural world with witches, demons, angels, and vampires and it makes it more interesting. The titles for each chapter are so funny and clever, they’re a great prelude to what you’ll read in each of them.
Can’t wait to see what happens next with Olive!!

Note: This book is a heterocentric supernatural romance novel. It has a small nod to LGBTQ+ romance by having a bi + lesbian couple in the story’s sideline characters (small roles). Diversity isn’t overt beyond supernatural diversity. This isn’t a criticism of the story - just context.
The story centers around a witch and half demon who is hexed by an ex - hence the title - and can’t fall in love without losing his soul. If you roll with the premise - after all, it’s a lighthearted romance, it’s a sweet story that will keep you entertained. The characters are fun, there’s enough in the story beyond the sexual attraction to make the characters likeable, and you know where we’re headed plot wise.
My one complaint is that the story spent a lot of time building to an ending that was a bit quick and cheesy (it’s romance so that’s to be expected - it’s part of the attraction of the story - it’s meant to be heart-lifting). I enjoyed the story but I also enjoy a good light hearted romance so I recommend it to readers who enjoy supernatural romances.
This sequel in the Supernatural Singles series was even better than the first. Understanding the world better, and Asher expanding on our knowledge of the world, characters, and magic system made it easier to invest in the story immediately.
This book was so good it made me want to cry. I love magical/supernatural romance books but I’m pretty sure this book has ruined all others for me. It was that good!
This book is the complete package for me. The story is written so well. The witty banter is perfection. The supporting characters are hilarious. And the SPICE! Oh my gosh the SPICE.
I liked the first book in the series, but this book is for sure my favorite. Do you have a book that you constantly think about? This is mine.
Not Your Ex’s Hexes follows the second born triplet, Rose, as she navigates her life after her future is completely turned upside down. She stepped down from being the Prima Apparent and dumped her narcissistic fiancé in one night.
After a night of misguided heroics, Rose is forced to spend some quality time at the local animal sanctuary along side half demon/all sexy vet, Damian.
Rose doesn’t want to date anyone. Damien doesn’t want to date anyone for more than one night. What could go wrong? LOL
If you love witchy angst, witty banter and SPICE, this book is just begging for a spot on your TBR!
I fell in love with this world in the first book and continued my love in Asher’s follow up. Rose and Damien were a fun couple to explore. I especially enjoyed the bounty hunting addition to bring in a little extra texture to the storyline.
Overall, this 2nd story was golden. I was a little nervous as I did not really find Rose a compelling character in the 1st book, but quickly connected in Not Your Ex’s Hexes. I will keep my eye out for the next two and possibly more with all the characters introduced. Keep them coming.
Unfortunately, this book did not grab me and I gave up with it after 5 chapters. The writing was childish and cringe-worthy.
I loved this book! I was immediately sucked into the story. I did not want to put it down, I wanted to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. This is book two in the series and I feel like it could be read as a standalone but personally I can’t wait to go back and read the first book. As well can not wait for more books in the series to come out. Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and author for an opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions.
Oh my, my, my did I adore this one!!
April Ashes created a fun, magical, unique & charming urban fantasy world I’m Not The Witch You Wed, and there was already so much to love. In this second installment, she turned every aspect up a notch. More chemistry, more banter, more spice, more danger, more charm, and more endearing love.
I should start off mentioning that I absolutely adore the friends with benefit’s who turn into more (or in this case, reluctant co-animal-caretakers? Not sure but I love it). Damian and Rose had the most intense chemistry, and I loved them both separately as characters so much. Rose was the uptight sister in book 1, and it was such a delight to see her let her hair down and turn into a whole different witch who is still wildly capable & passionate. Damian is the perfect amount of grump. It’s definitely not his whole personality, and the sexy confidence he Carrie’s offsets it nicely, along with his completely awe inspiring passion for caring for animals (of all things for a half-demon, am I right?)
The Maxwell sister’s antics never failed to charm me and make be double over with giggles. I really felt the individuality of each of them in this book, much more so than book one. I also noticed a distinct decrease in the witchy-themed innuendo & slang, which to me was a welcome change (I typically love themed language spins but in book 1 it became too much and took me out of the story). In contrast, every time some sort of fun, paranormal slang & joke was thrown around, it felt completely natural & unforced.
Above all else, though, I just loved this couple together. I felt myself being able to relate to Rose in a lot of ways, and Damian was the perfect mild grump to her perky badassery. I loved that the third act conflict wasn’t based in miscommunication, and rather felt very grounded in the problem that had been cemented as a barrier throughout the entire book. I am chomping at the bit for this upcoming roommate romance that seems to be brewing for our last Maxwell sister, and April Asher has been firmly placed on my Author Release Watchlist (and catch me looking into all of her published works as April Hunt in the meantime)
Thank you so much to St Martin’s Press & NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this title before publishing!
Complete transparency, I didn't read Not the Witch You Wed before I read this one. This book does contain spoilers for the previous, but they aren't so connected that I didn't understand any plot points. If not for the spoilers, it would be a fine standalone.
Not Your Ex's Hexes is a cute, witchy GrumpyxSunshine romance with some good spice. If you want a fun, quick Halloween read, this is a good option.
Damian was the best character in this book. A grump with a troubled past and a soft spot for animals always gets me. He's also the only character with good growth over the course of the story.
Rose was fun, but I feel like she was missing some development. She was just replaced for the most powerful witch position by her sister, a position she has been training for her entire life. My assumption was that she would be distraught and maybe have some identity crisis. There is some inner turmoil, but it seems more like she just flits from job to job and doesn't really give anything a chance. The only things she stuck with was the animal sanctuary and Hunting. The entire time she was at the animal sanctuary, she would bounce between how good she was at it, but go right into needing to find another job. Every time this happened, I would question why she didn't even think to stay there once she was done, maybe as the official event coordinator or something? Instead, she sticks to hunting, which we saw her succeed at once and then almost die another time. The times we're told went well between these, she's with Damian. My final issue with Rose was that she didn't know the only way to break a soul hex is to personally confront it. She spent her whole life training to be the most powerful with in North America, and she didn't know this? Maybe soul hex terms are decided by the witch who casts them, but it didn't seem like that was the case.
Altogether, this was a fine read and I got through it pretty quickly. However, I probably won't read the first or third one.
